Shah Rukh Khan on why he’s so proud of ‘My Name is Khan’?

Now that we are almost into 2010, the biggest and much-anticipated film to hit theatres is SRK- Kajol starrer ‘My Name is Khan’. And Shahrukh who’s known for his excellent marketing strategies, is letting the media eat out of his hands.

Yes, after a forgetful 2009 that brought him agony (both physical and financial) owing to his shoulder-injury and the sinking of his production ‘Billu’, the ‘King Khan’ is roaring again. With his biggie due on 12th February (the week of Valentine), he’s all agog with excitement and his renewed zeal and energy is contagious. Chirping about the upcoming movie, he quips, “Yes, it is set in the aftermath of 9/11 and it’s heroic without the fighting and screaming, but MNIK is a heartening and funny film. I am excited about it. But this one I’m very proud of. Mainly because, I’ve co-produced it with Karan; also because Kajol and I are acting together after 8 years.”

So, all iz well in SRK paradise! Looks like, his shoulder-injury has only toughened him. The confidence that’s oozing out of his voice makes us feel that the trio of Shahrukh-Kajol-Karan are all set to re-define cinema once again after their glorious escapades of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam’.

Shah Rukh Khan trumps Salman

The speculations are over and it’s official now. Shah Rukh Khan and not Salman Khan is kicking off the big reality show on Sony TV titled Lift Kara De. And the grapevine is gossiping that it is the closeness that SRK shares with the host of the show Karan Johar and Yash Raj Films run by Yash and Aditya Chopra that might have done it for him.

“SRK is close to both Karan and Yash Raj and Salman is extremely close to the channel for which he hosts a TRP grabbing show. It was a difficult decision to choose who will kick-start the show but we all know how lucky and loyal SRK has been to YRF and he is best friends with KJo. That might have done it for him as he has definitely scored one-up on Salman by being the first star to be showcased,” says an insider.

The highly placed informer adds: “Yash Chopra had personally come on the sets when SRK was shooting. Salman’s episode will now come later.”

Danish Khan of Sony says: “There is nothing to read between the lines. The choice of star has happened because of the shooting schedule.”

Shahrukh Khan admits he dislikes his face and physique!

The ‘King’ of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, who’s busy with promotions of his upcoming movie ‘My Name is Khan’, in a recent interview, spoke about himself and the man again came up with strange and bizarre but intellectual words.

“I’m shy of myself on screen . I’m not fond of my face or physique. That’s why I am an actor so that I can play someone else,” he remarks.

“I’m not antisocial. I’m a quiet person, strangely reclusive. I’m not as confident as you think I am. I am thankful to Allah to be not so gifted and have all this. I’m great enough to be humble; I’m very happy when people say ‘SRK’s the best’. I’m happy by what I’ve done, but humble enough to know it’s not because of me. Yet put me on stage………and I’ll comfortably entertain you for an hour. As long as I’m an entertainer, I’ve no problems. It’s when I’m Shahrukh that the problems arise. I’m a fun guy; yet my kids enjoy their mother’s company more,” he signs off.

Oooh! When this guy starts talking, he completely stumps you……. can speak really well.

It’s Priyanka Chopra for Shahrukh Khan!

No doubt, actor-director Farhan Akhtar is going gaga over his Karthik Calling Karthik co-star Deepika Padukone, and grapevine even suggests that ‘Don 2’ belongs to her.

But it is Priyanka Chopra again for the sequel and the reason for her clinching the role is the Don himself - Shahrukh Khan. Yes, as per reports, King Khan is so fond of Piggy Chops that any other actress in her place for ‘Don 2’ is out of question. “As Shah Rukh Khan is very fond of PC, there was no rethinking at all who would be his co-star,” claims a tabloid.

As for now, PC is off to New York for shooting Anjaana Anjaani. And about Deepika, she has to wait to star opposite SRK.

Isn’t Priyanka the right choice for ‘Don 2’?

Sony plans global mktg push for 'My Name is Khan' music

After bagging projects like Wake Up Sid, Tum Mile, Kurbaan and What's Your Rashee in 2009, Sony Music has more lined up for 2010, including the Shah Rukh- Kajol starer 'My Name is Khan' whose music was released earlier this month.

Divulging the marketing and promotion plans of the film, Sony Music marketing director Sanujeet Bhujabal says, "With My Name is Khan, we have developed an extensive and aggressive plan to deploy the music in all the key global markets for marketing Bollywood music to the world at large.

For the first time, the music will be showcased in over 20 countries, which will be supported by a dedicated marketing plan for each of the territories. We are also targeting the cross-over markets and will follow the theatrical plan being developed by Fox Star Studios. As part of our extensive marketing plan – our focus will be to make sure the audience samples the music not only at an optimal frequency, but also in the relevant setting. Associations for innovative programming with leading music channels, GEC channels and radio networks and web marketing are but a few things which we will be undertaking." The music of My Name is Khan was is composed by the Shankar Ehsaan Loy trio.

The label bags most of the films made under the Karan Johar owned Dharma productions. Talking about its association with the banner, Bhujabal says, " Our decade long relationship with Dharma is based on mutual respect, trust and a common vision. We feel both the parties see great value in the relationship and in these days it is a very rare thing to see a relationship go through a decade long journey without any hiccups. It is a mutually rewarding experience."

Expanding its portfolio into the regional music space, Sony has bagged the audio rights of a couple of Tamil films too. Says Bhujabal, "On the Tamil front, 2009 was a landmark year for us with blockbusters like Kanthaswamy, Vaaranam Aayiram, Aaiyarathil Oruvan, Naadodigal, Maasilamani. Next in line is A R Rahman’s first Tamil soundtrack after the Oscars ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’ (‘WILL YOU CROSS THE SKIES FOR ME?’) and ‘Goa’ (Soundarya Rajnikanth’s first production) amongst many others." Music of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa was launched in a reception at the recent BAFTA awards in London where Rahman along with the artistes performed live. The music of Goa has been scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The music label has plans to launch a couple of non-film projects in the coming year as well. Bhujabal says, "We are exploring a lot of interesting avenues in the non film projects in the Devotional, New Age, Spiritual, Classical genres and of course, Indi-Pop. Our immediate initiatives include signing talent like Shivali – who presents traditional bhajans and shlokas with a global sound and also licensing spiritual, Sufi and New-age instrumental albums with similar sounds." The label will churn out the next album by A R Rahman protégé and renowned flautist Naveen Kumar shortly.

In its Talent Management initiative, the label has signed the India’s Got Talent winners and ‘CNN IBN Indian of The Year – Entertainment’ nominated ‘Prince Dance Group’ – who have already performed at Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week, CNN IBN Awards and Mumbai Police Welfare Show amongst other functions.

SRK: I'm not anti-social

He may be known for being reserved. His interactions might be limited to a select few, but this does not bother SRK in the least.

The superstar of Bollywood has vehemently come out in the open against people who dub him anti-social. In a recent interview, King Khan admitted that he loves to be on his own but this should not be misinterpreted.

SRK, who is all set to roll out his biggest film till date; MY NAME IS KHAN (MNIK), is gung-ho about his character Rizwan Khan in the film. SRK feels that playing Rizwan was one of the big challenges and he enjoyed every bit of it.

According to SRK, MNIK, is not a serious subject, but something that will have its lighter moments. So, to call MNIK a film based on terrorism will be a gross mistake. The film also assumes significance since we will get to see SRK pair up with Kajol after ages.

SRK can be humble!

Shah Rukh Khan, the pains and failures of 2009 behind him if not entirely forgotten, is looking forward to the New Year because it brings with it the imminent release and promise of the biggest film of his career (his words, not mine) – Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan.

He’s had a bad year starting with the shoulder injury and surgery, then the uninspiring box-office returns for Billu – his only release in 2009, and finally the humiliating decimation of his IPL team in South Africa. But, as the poet T. S. Eliot famously wrote, “For last year’s words belong to last year’s language and next year’s words await another voice”... and SRK, I suspect, is secretly hoping that the next voice cinema audiences will listen to is going to be his in 2010. Or rather Rizwan Khan’s, the autistic character he plays in My Name Is Khan, which is slated for a grand bi-lingual worldwide release in February.

Actually, the character in this ambitious film suffers from asperger’s syndrome, an autistic disorder whose main symptom is a difficulty in social interaction. It is a role that Shah Rukh, who is notoriously among Bollywood’s least social people, must have slipped into with consummate ease. Over a glass of tea in his vanity van one night late at Mehboob Studios, I asked him whether audiences were ready for another challenged hero after Bachchan with progeria in Paa and, before that, Aamir with dyslexia in Taare Zameen Par.

Shah Rukh replied, “Audiences understand what you tell them. People like a good story. And this is a joyous film with a new romantic thought, the journey of an ordinary man. It is a love story with an epic feel. All love stories have obstacles, but the obstacle in My Name Is Khan is real, it happens in everyday life. For me, the film was an opportunity to play a challenged character... bahut maaza aaya!”

What he was saying was contrary to public belief that the film is based on terrorism. Shah Rukh scowled. “I don’t know where you got that idea,” he said in exasperation, “yes, it is set in the aftermath of 9/11, and it is heroic without the fighting and screaming, but My Name Is Khan is a heartening and even funny film... even though we didn’t try to make a funny film! I am excited about it as I am about all my films. But this one I’m very proud of. Mainly because I’ve co-produced it with Karan. Also because Kajol and I are acting together after eight years.” He’s not seen a trial of the film as yet to voice an opinion on how well it will do at the box-office. That Shah Rukh never does. Not for his own films nor anybody else’s. In fact, he said he’s hardly seen any of his films completely. “Trials mean analysis,” he explained, “but trial reactions are different from theatre reactions. I don’t make a film for myself, I make it for the story. Besides, I’m shy of myself on screen, I’m not vain, it’s just that I’m not fond of my face or physique. Maybe that’s why I’m an actor – so that I can play someone else.”

Perhaps, he was still in character for the film. Or, maybe, interacting with people is as much a problem for Shah Rukh Khan in real life as it is for Rizwan Khan in reel. “I’m not anti-social,” he protested, “I’m a quiet person, strangely reclusive, I’m not as confident as you think I am. I have issues. I’m thankful to Allah... to be not so gifted and have all this. It may sound pompous, but I’m great enough to be humble, I’m very happy when people say ‘SRK’s the best’... there is a sense of achievement, I’m happy by what I’ve done, but humble enough to know it’s not because of me. Yet put me on stage, say, at Salt Lake Stadium before a million people and I will comfortably entertain you for an hour. As long as I’m an entertainer, I have no problems. It’s when I’m Shah Rukh Khan that the problems arise. I’m a fun guy... yet my kids enjoy their mother’s company more.”

SRK: MNIK is hatke

Shah Rukh Khan tells us why the film is the most different film that Karan Johar has made so far and why everyone must see it.

The promos of My Name is Khan are all over TV screens. Shah Rukh Khan tells us how MNIK has helped Kajol, Karan and him evolve as people, actors and filmmakers and how religion has never been an issue for him.

My Name is Khan is very different from the movies Karan has made before, and yet, he has preserved the Karan Johar-ishness he is known for. Karan, Kajol and I are close friends. We understand each other without even saying anything. However, a lot of times, Kajol and I were surprised with the way Karan wanted to shoot a scene, as it was different from the way the three of us have worked before. This was one of the most beautiful surprises for me as an actor, as a friend, as a viewer and as a producer. I am an insider, who can also see Karan’s films as an outsider, and I can say that he has evolved tremendously with Khan, which is hatke and a step forward for all of us,” says Khan about Johar, adding delightedly, “The three are magicians, and I am sure the film will do very well.”

MNIK deals with issues like discrimination against Muslims. So, has SRK ever felt he was treated differently because of his religion? “I am a Muslim, but I have never faced any difficulties. In this country and around the world, I have never had an issue. I have been blessed in life, and my religion has helped me. It may be an issue for other people in other countries, but not for me. The issue in MNIK is how people can find strength in love. It tells us that love is the way forward in life. More than Islam, MNIK is about humanity,” clarifies Shah Rukh Khan.

´My Name Is Khan´ Is The Nicest Love Story

Come February 12, 2010 and one will witness the release of perhaps the biggest film of the first half of next year!

We are obviously referring to Karan Johar's next directorial venture, 'My Name Is Khan', featuring none other than Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol!

Though there are different theories doing the rounds about the content of 'My Name Is Khan', SRK sums up by saying, "I have been associated with the nicest love stories in Bollywood and 'My Name Is Khan' is not only the nicest love story but it is also a step towards Indian cinema reaching worldwide audience.”

Well, we are sure that what King Khan says will indeed turn out to be true during the Valentine weekend!

Shahrukh Khan Vs 300 people for Asin!

The King Khan was the knight without armour when he rescued the south star Asin Thottumkal from a mob of 300. Shahrukh came with his bodyguards to safeguard the actress at the backstage of a Mumbai event.

It all happened when Asin was all set to go on stage for a performance during an event in Mumbai. At the backstage, she was surrounded by about 300 fans. Some of them even tried to touch the Ghajini star and she was shocked. She didn’t have anybodyguards with her and was seen helpless.

The scene was spotted by Shahrukh who was also present for the event. He was there with his six muscular bodyguards. As soon as SRK saw Asin in trouble, he headed towards the backstage and asked his bodyguards to rescue her. They immediately surrounded the actors forming a circle and removed the mob away.

Asin was seen disturbed by the whole incident. She was pacified by SRK and they chatted for some time to get her calm down. Asin had earlier told in an interview that she gets nervous at the sight of huge crowd and tries to avoid them.

Here is a word of advice for the beautiful lady… get yourself some bodyguards babe! You are a star now and fans attention is going to be a common thing. And of course you can’t always have Shahrukh Khan to rescue you, right?

Kajol goes Ga Ga over King Khan

The three K’s i.e. Kajol, King Khan and Karan Johar have been strongly promoting their movie “My Name Is Khan”. The black beauty of B-Town who was looking extremely gorgeous and eye candy in a red and black sari addressed media during the promotion of her movie. She now goes Ga Ga over Shahrukh her favorite co-star in Bollywood.

The bubbly actress earlier said that Shahrukh is a bad habit and now she speaks about her comfort level with King, Ooo! It’s always great to work with Shahrukh. She even added that Karan, Sharukh and herself have given some big hits to the industry and she is desperately looking forward for the movie to hit the screen this January.

They have a spark, a unique one which makes them special even today. The ever young couple has always blasted the screen off with their evergreen romance on screen. It’s always very pleasant to see Kajol and Shahrukh romancing on screen.

The golden couple of Bollywood Industry will be pairing after 8 long years after a great success of Karan Arjun, DDLG, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gum and believe me the crowd is just dying to see the magic happening on screen.

They even claimed during the promotion that after seeing My Name Is Khan, the crowd will forget about their previous romantic flicks because My Name Is Khan is uniquely different with some unmatched romantic scenes. We just have to wait for the release of the film. Here’s wishing the whole unit all the very best for the film.

Shah Rukh Khan and my mother are my lucky mascots, says Karan Johar

Karan Johar is one of the finest and most sought after directors of Hindi cinema and on television the film-maker has questioned many high profile celebs on his chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’. Now he is all set to become a host to fans who want to meet their favourite superstar on Yash Raj Films show ‘Life Karade’. Here he talks about the show and his favourite superstars.

Why is the show named ‘Lift Karade’?
Well that’s a surprise for which you will have to wait when it goes on air on 1st of January.

Which fan was craziest of them all?
I have shot 4 episodes till now with Shah Rukh, Priyanka, Kajol and John Abraham and all four of them have their unusual fans who have wholeheartedly come to the show. If one hears about their story and how they have reached the show, one will come to know their level of madness. Every fan was crazy and obsessed about their favourite stars and it would be difficult for me to tell who was the craziest.

What was the criteria of choosing a fan?
This is a nation wide hunt, and the concept will be revealed only on the show, but whatever these fans did to reach inside the studio to meet the stars is really heartening.

Who is your favourite star?
My favourite star is Shah Rukh Khan and there is absolutely no question about it. He is special to me emotionally and professionally. I have grown up with him career wise but this year I would like to talk about one man in particularl and that is Amitabh Bachchan. He is the legend of our country and will always be because he has proved in the movie ‘Paa’ that he can do anything. To bring about such passion on-screen in such a manner is amazing. When I am that age I think I’ll be under MRI scan and doctor’s supervision all through. The way he is working with so much passion and intensity all you want to say toAmitabh Bachchan is ‘What a man!’

To what extent would you go to meet your favourite Film star?
I am fortunate that I don’t have to go to any extent as I have already met them. I have grown up in front of Amit uncle and I have been with Shah Rukh since the day one of my career so, I feel very blessed that I know people like them and that I live in the age where they act and work.

Do you consider SRK your lucky mascot?
Shah Rukh and my mother are my lucky mascots. I was happy to shoot my first episode for ‘Lift Karade’ with Shah Rukh and it is pleasure to have him any day on my show and my earlier talk shows too opened with him on both seasons.

Can we call you SRK’s biggest fan?
If you watch ‘Lift Karade’ you’ll come to know what these fans are ready to do for their superstars. It is something which I would never be able to do.

Did you come across any of your fan on the show?
The show wasn’t about me and I am sure directors must also be having fans but the show is about Superstar’s fans and not of directors so, sadly I won’t be able to meet any of my fans.

Maharashtra CM fulfills SRK's wish!

When two kings meet it usually leads to a war, but in Jashn 2010 – Dhamaka Naye Saal Ka, it led to celebrations. We are talking here about the moment Shah Rukh Khan came face to face with Chief Minister Ashok Chavan at an event, recently shot at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai.

It was raining stars at the event, as the entire Bollywood industry was present and presented exceptionally spectacular performances to entertain the Mumbai Police and their families. To add to the fun, ace director Karan Johar did a spoof on his own show and called it “Koffee with Kops” and what better way to do it than having the Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan as his special guest.

Shah Rukh and Karan were high on energy with their Q & As. In the final question, asked about his one wish from the Government, he said “I would request the Government to do as much as they can, in whatever way possible be it monetarily or socially for the welfare of the Mumbai Police and its families.”

Within an hour’s time, Mumbai CM Ashok Chavan declared a sum of Rs 5 crores to be utilized for the welfare of the Mumbai Police and their families. If this was not enough, Amitabh Bachhan, who was also present with his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachhan offered a sum of Rs 11 lakhs on his behalf for the same cause.

Now that’s what we call is the impact of our Badshah. It was indeed an unforgettable evening which will always be remembered for its causes. All thanks to Shah Rukh’s noble wish!

As per sources, Shah Rukh Khan is to proceed on a two-week vacation anytime (even as you are reading this!), to an undisclosed location, with his wife Gauri and children where they will bring in Christmas and the New Year.

It is believed that after his much deserved vacation, SRK will embark on a publicity blitzbrieg for his upcoming Karan Johar directed, 'My Name Is Khan', co-starring Kajol!

My Name is Khan can't compete at Berlin

With the good news comes the bad news as well. The good news is that Fox Star Studios, international partners on My Name Is Khan, has decided to premiere the film at the 60th Berlin Film Festival in February 2010, in the most prestigious Competition section.

However, the bad news is that they have not allowed the film to compete with other films in the section. The reason for the same is unknown.

Karan doesn’t deny the news but pooh-poohs the belief that the global corporates are trying to bully him into submission. He says, “Yes, the decision to place our film in the Competition section without competing was taken entirely by Fox Star. Shah Rukh and I are completely one with it. We are just happy to be in the same section as the new films by Martin Scorsese and Roman Polanski. Fox Star has been on the same page as me from the start. Shah Rukh, Kajol and I are getting ready for Berlin. It will be the first full-fledged screening of our film. We are anxious to see how the global audience at Berlin reacts to it.”

Shahrukh Khan’s kids are Karan Johar’s “god-children”!

Here comes the touchiest and most loving comment from Karan Johar for Shahrukh Khan’s kids Suhana and Aryan. He calls them his god-children. Not only that, he would love to gift all his films’ negatives to the kids!

Few days back, Karan Johar said in an interview posted in Star Box Office that he can’t do his films without Shahrukh Khan…and his emotional outburst showed how much he cares for SRK. The latest revelation is that Dharma Production negatives will be legally willed on the names ofShahrukh’s kids Suhana and Aryan!

Karan is always all praises for his friend, mentor and favorite actor Shahrukh. He feels that SRK is the biggest star of India and the best indeed! He also has declared that his films are incomplete without SRK.

Karan loves Shahrukh Khan and his family so much that he reveals his wish of mentioning Aryan’s and Suhana’s name in his will and wants to give them the negatives of Dharma Production films. He confirms that he gets very well along with Gauri and the kids. He adds that SRK’s family is so close that he feels at home there. He is like a member ofShahrukh’s family. For him, working with Shahrukh is like two brothers working together. In his own words, “Two brothers start and maintain companies and make films. We do what it takes to keep our families and work units together.”

On the other hand, the recent reports say that Shahrukh feels he is complete with Karan and his films!

Wow…at times when celebrities are seen fighting within the industry, isn’t it just so wonderful to have so much of brotherly love between KJo and SRK? What do you say?

Shafqat Ali - the voice behind Shahrukh Khan in MNIK

Karan Johar’s most awaited film, My Name is Khan has unveiled its first look but there is more to unveil about the music of the film. The music of the film composed by the hit trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is not yet out.

Our reliable source says, “The music of the film is the heart of the film and it is all set to create a new record on the music charts. Recently, the song ‘Tere Naina’ sung by Shafqat Ali, the singer from Pakistan was recorded.” Shafqat Ali is a singer who rose to fame with the song ‘Mitwa’ from the film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and now he has lots of films in his kitty, to name a few are Akshay Kumar starrer Patiala House, I hate Love Stories, and Aashayein.

After a long time, the trio of Karan Johar-Shahrukh Khan- Kajol are coming together to spell their magic on 70mm in ‘My Name is Khan’ and the film is eagerly awaited. The film is slated to release on 10th Feb 2010.

Kajol can’t see beyond Karan Johar

With “My Name is Khan’ the famous trio of Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Karan Johar are back with a bang to catch the fancy of their fans. The trios association has always been welcomed by one and all. On the day of revealing the first look of “My Name is Khan’, Kajol got nostalgic and shared some beautiful words for the relation she shares with Karan.

“I understand the expectations of our fans when it comes to me, Shahrukh and Karan; I respect it. While shooting for “My Name is Khan’, people would enquire about whether I have completed the film. But trust me, over the period I have realized- Karan’s film has completed us. And I am sure Shahrukh will agree with me on that.”

On enquiring why is it that despite being choosy about films, Kajol has been giving nod to Karan’s film without a second thought, she exclaims, “Trust me, it’s not a deliberate effort. I feel Karan is the only director who gives me good movies (winks).”

Wonder, what Karan Johar had to say on that and of course other contenders in the industry.

SRK's airport detention topped the shocker list of 2009

The year 2009 was not so happening for Bollywood with big budget flops and few surprise hits. But the never-ending list of shockers more than made up for the box office drought with 'Badshah of Bollywood' Shahrukh Khan's US airport fiasco taking the top slot.

India was ushering in its 62nd independence year, but the news which flashed across all news channels was the detention of Bollywood superstar at Newark airport which left the actor "angry" and "humiliated".

Eminent personalities from all walks of life reacted sharply to the incident with an angry Ambika Soni, Information and Broadcasting Minister, advocating a tit for tat for Americans.

The film industry termed it as "shocking", "disgraceful" and "madness".

The fear of My Name is Khan

Shah Rukh Khan’s next My Name Is Khan is almost two months away from release but the tremors of its run up are already being felt.

Films which were scheduled to release around a couple of weeks after February 12 are now likely to be postponed to a safer date. Talking about the release of his film Apartment director Jagmohan Mundhra says the film was scheduled to release in February.

“However now that the big fat white elephant called My Name Is Khan is scheduled to release on February 12 we have to figure out a date which would be safer for a small film like mine,” says Mudhra. Apartment is a thriller starring Neetu Chandra, Tanushree Dutta and Rohit Roy. Similarly many other producers are rescheduling the promotion campaigns of the film.

Interestingly even Amitabh Bachchan’s Teen Patti, which also stars Ben Kingsley and R Madhavan and has been directed by Leena Yadav, has also been shifted to February 26.

Ra1 waiting to hit the floors

‘My Name Is Khan’ is hogging the limelight currently, while another Shah Rukh Khan flick is counting days to get on with its shooting schedule.

Bannered under SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment, ‘Ra1’ is touted as a big-budget superhero movie. Starring Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead, this sci-fi will be directed by Anubhav Sinha. Interestingly, this film will complete the Khan-triplet for our sizzling beauty. With Aamir’s ‘3 Idiots’ releasing shortly, Bebo has 'Agent Vinod' with Saif besides ‘Ra1’.

It is heard that Shahrukh will rope in foreign designers to design his costumes and not his usual designer buddies like KJo and Manish Malhotra.

‘Ra1’ is said to go on floors in February 2010, once ‘My Name Is Khan’ settles down well after its release in the Valentine’s month. And if all goes well, then one can see this superhero flick before the end of 2010.

Farah Khan rubbishes rift with Shahrukh

Choreographer turned director Farah Khan and actor Shahrukh Khan has been the best buddies for years but recently the rumor blow up that they are no longer friends. The news caught fire when Farah Khan dropped King Khan from her new project, ‘Tees Maar Khan’ and opted for Akshay Kumar. However, it was also said that Farah Khan was not happy with Shahrukh Khan as he had been delaying her another project, ‘Happy New Year’ for a long time.

The news about their differences was confirmed when Shahrukh Khan did not turn up for Farah Khan’s lingerie show. But now Farah has put all those rumors on rest by accompanying Gauri Khan at the screening of James Cameron's Avatar. The special screening was arranged by Shahrukh for his children and close friends. Present on the occasion were Farah Khan, Karan Johar and Javed Akhtar.

It seems now things have come to the right track.

Trust Shah Rukh Khan to do everything in style. On Friday evening, the maverick superstar booked an entire screen at PVR Juhu for a special screening of Avatar at 10.30 pm for his family—especially his kids and their friends—and his close pals from the industry. He was joined by members his clique Suzanne Roshan, a bespectacled Rani Mukerji, Sanjay Kapoor with wife Maheep, and Bhavana and Chunky Pandey. Abiding by her image of a diva, Gauri Khan, though dressed in a white blouse teamed with distressed denims and sports shoes, looked casual yet chic.

Showstopper Farah Khan and SRK, who were once joint at the hip, seem to be growing apart after the director signed Akshay Kumar on for her next film. Farah, instead of joining her old buddy, came for an earlier show. Though the two bumped into each other at the entrance, neither was uncomfortable and greeted each other with warmth.

SRK – a 'hands on' dad

At a recently held Bollywood premier — that was also attended by Shahrukh Khan and his family, the guests witnessed a cutest scene there.

Shah Rukh who is loved by more than three-fourth of the fans because of his parenthood, held daughter Suhana's hand while he waited for wife Gauri and friend Sussane Khan to finish powdering their noses. Those who saw young Suhana couldn't help laughing about how the little one was aping mom Gauri in her dressing style.

However, it was her dad Shahrukh – the Badshah Khan of Bollywood, with whom she shares a terrific strong bonding. The little girl left her dad only to make a quick trip to loo. However, the moment she was back she rushed straight to him. And, of course, SRK was delighted.to have her into his arms.

The doting dad is known for his simplicity and decency loves to spends every minutes with his family and kids.

Comically yours, SRK

It was a night for surprises at the Andheri Sports Complex on Saturday night where the Mumbai Police Film Star Nite Umang '09 was being held.

Shah Rukh showed his true comic colours in a skit called Koffee With Cops, with Karan Johar in tow. When asked during a rapidfire round, why he needed cops, he shot back, "Main bahut sexy hoon. Which is why I need security and police to rescue me from girls and rival heroes." On unfulfilled dreams, his wish went thus: "My unfulfilled dream has always been to play a police officer.

But I don't think I am still macho enough. Policewala role adaa karne ke liye dil chaahiye, sirf six-pack-abs nahin." When asked if he would accept an offer to act in Dostana 2, SRK quipped "I don't wish to hamper my macho image, don't expect me to accept."

The audience was in splits when flapping his palm in an effeminate gesture, SRK told KJo, "Please don't keep touching me, I don't like it at all." Not surprisingly, SRK literally proved to be the 'show-stopper' in the show put together by event organiser Aly Morani and film-maker Pahlaj Nihalani.

Later, Khan and Johar felicitated top cop D Sivanandhan with a bouquet, who seemed overwhelmed when Amitabh Bachchan joined the duo.

SRK or Sallu who will be first to feature on KJo's Lift Kara De?

While channel wants Sallu to feature first in Karan Johar's new show, the producers want SRK. Who'll blink first?

That is the big question. While the channel is leaning towards Salman (who hosts 10 Ka Dum for them), Karan and the show's producer (Yash Raj) would obviously prefer Shah Rukh to set the ball rolling.

Lift Kara De premieres on Sony in January. It is one of the shows that marks Yash Raj Films' foray into television. It will have 20 episodes where B-Town's biggest stars meet and interact with their biggest fans.

While Karan has already shot for an episode with Priyanka Chopra last week, sources indicate there is an internal lobbying on which male star to shoot with first. Shah Rukh and Salman Khan are in the reckoning.

The source says, "It's a new concept and they want to open big. It can't get bigger than Shah Rukh or Salman. Since the channel has worked with the latter and is comfortable with him, they want him to be a guest before SRK. On the other hand Yash Raj and Karan have a great personal rapport with SRK. So their choice is obvious."

The source adds that Karan is keen on having both actors on the show. However, unless the production house and the channel come to a consensus soon, the delay will continue.

Shahrukh Khan a romantic lover to a responsible father

Shahrukh Khan has finally decided to move on to mature roles. In his upcoming movies My Name is Khan and Raavan, he is all set to play the role of a father.

What’s more is that the actor is making no qualms about doing such roles and is quiet open-minded about evolving his screen image from a romantic lover to a responsible father.

Few years back in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, he played the role of a father. Shahrukh has no problems doing on-screen father roles as his own son Aryan is 11year-old.

Shahrukh has a great fan following and his on-screen lover boy image is a craze. Most actors shy away from doing such aged roles, but King Khan has always done things differently.

SRK plays a character with Asperger’s syndrome in ‘My Name is Khan’

Shah Rukh Khan is both excited and nervous about My Name is Khan, which, he believes, is his biggest film till date. Khan essays the role of Rizvan Khan who has Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism. “In Asperger’s syndrome, one half of the brain is more developed than the other,” he says, “So the person ends up thinking very logically as the emotional side is not completely developed. That’s the reason Rizvan has problems socialising and is afraid of crowds. In fact, people having Asperger’s often find it difficult to show any emotion.”

Director Karan Johar and Khan spent several months researching people with Asperger’s so that the actor could get the nuances right. “I began reading a lot of books. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is one that I read several times. I watched a lot of videos and met several people with Asperger’s,” says Khan.

My Name is Khan just made history by having its first promo aired across 70 countries. And now Fox Star Studios plan to release the film in as big a fashion if not bigger.

CEO of Fox Star India Vijay Singh says that they are charting an elaborate plan to release the much-expected film. “I cannot give you details but it will certainly be the biggest release that an India movie has got abroad.

We should release with around 450 to 500 prints outside while inside India it will be really big too,” he says. The film will also be dubbed in other language. “We will release as per requirement.
We shall dub the film in a few countries in their language too,” he adds. MNIK is a co-production between Dharma Production and Red Chillies Entertainment. The film see Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol getting back on screen for the first time since Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

'My Name is Khan' Karan's ultimate evolution: SRK

Putting speculations to rest, director-producer Karan Johar said that his forthcoming film My Name Is Khan, that has Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in main leads, has nothing to do with terrorism.

My Name is Khan has nothing to do with terrorism. It is not a terrorism-based plot at all. It is a humanitarian tale about love and sacrifice," Karan told reporters after unveiling the first look of My Name Is Khan at JW Marriot Hotel here Wednesday.

The film's story revolves around Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh) who suffers from Asperger syndrome, a form of autism. Rizwan falls in love with a single mother Mandira (Kajol) who lives in San Francisco. Rizwan is detained by authorities at Los Angeles International Airport, mistaking his disability for "suspicious" behaviour.

"It is about overcoming a phase, it is about triumph of the human spirit," said Karan.

Shah Rukh and Karan's last outing together Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) couldn't spell magic at the box office.

But the superstar seems to be pretty impressed with Karan's work in My Name Is Khan and said that the film is the ultimate evolution of the director's work.

"I have worked with Karan in his first film (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) and has been with him all through his journey. I think My Name Is Khan is his ultimate evolution," said Shah Rukh.

"In this film, the way Karan has touched upon the scenes and sequences, it is very different from his all previous films," he added.

The film is slated to release on February 12 next year.

Yash Chopra gets a grand tour of Shahrukh's vanity van

Ever since Shah Rukh Khan purchased the costliest and biggest vanity van which has all the modern amenities, his favourite filmmaker Yash Chopra has been very keen to see it. Tickled by curiosity, he had expressed his wish to Shah Rukh. After all, it’s a swanky, fully loaded van fit for a superstar.

For quite some time, Yash Chopra has wanted to see Shah Rukh’s fancy van. Yesterday, Shah Rukh was scheduled to shoot for YRF’s TV show (hosted by Karan Johar) at their Andheri studio. Shah Rukh seized this opportunity to show it to Yash Chopra and traveled to the shoot in his vanity van.

Normally, no actor is allowed to take his vanity van inside, but yesterday Shah Rukh was given a special concession. As soon as Shah Rukh drove in at 4.30pm, Yash Chopra came out. Shah Rukh emerged from the van, held Yash Chopra’s hand and took him inside. “Yash considers Shah Rukh as his son. Shah Rukh also has very high regard for Yash Chopra,” said our source.

Yash Raj’s head honcho spent a full 30 minutes inside the van where Shah Rukh showed him all the amenities very respectfully. “He loved the van. It’s like a one-bedroom house,” our source added.

Priyanka: SRK, Sir?

Priyanka Chopra is on cloud nine. Certainly not because she exchanged pleasantries with Akshay Kumar at some awards night, but because the Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan praised her to the press at the media showcase of My Name Is Khan. No wonder the actress can't stop gushing.

At the event talking about Priyanka, Shah Rukh said, "Priyanka is one of the finest actresses of this generation. Five years down the line, Priyanka will still be on top. She has tremendous appeal as an actress and her voice and diction is terrific."

SRK, who has worked with PC in Don and will be seen with her in the sequel — Don 2, says, "Priyanka is disciplined, talented and a very professional girl. I'm fond of her."

The superstar recalls how PC embarrassed him on their first meeting by telling him that she was barely 12 when she saw Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. "I felt old," he jokes.

What is more SRK, said PC has never taken his name all these years despite having worked with him. PC on her part says, "I'm Shah Rukh's most ardent fan. When I was younger, my parents would have to put on Chamatkar for me, if they wanted me to eat my food. I have seen the film at least 35 times."

PC adds, "I can't address SRK by his name, and I don't want to call him 'Sir' because I think that is too formal. Also the truth is, when SRK is around, I'm normally speechless. Seeing my icon in flesh has that effect on me."
The Kaminey actress says, "I'm truly happy that SRK and his wife Gauri are my well-wishers."

Shah Rukh mentors Vivek Oberoi

Shah Rukh Khan is playing mentor to none other than Vivek Oberoi who was secluded by almost everyone in the industry. The young actor is currently staging a big comeback that started off with Kurbaan and he is following it up with Prince and Paritala Ravi. Vivek says he is thankful to SRK for being there when people had rubbished him.

Industry gossip has it that it is Shah Rukh who had advised him to patch up with his foes post which he had buried the hatchet with Ram Gopal Varma and is trying his level best to come in the good books of the Bachchan family despite he had a fall out with them when Aishwarya Rai became the Bachchan bahu.

An industry source says: "Vivek has been really trying hard to mend the things that he has done to stage a great comeback. He needs the support of all his industry colleagues and since he has been close to Karan Johar, automatically he has come close to SRK. Shah Rukh has sat with him and made him understand the importance of having friends and has
advised him to patch up with as many people as possible. From the Bachchans to Sanjay Dutt to Salman Khan to Ekta Kapoor and even Aditya Chopra, Vivek is on the bad books of many influential industrywallas."

The informer adds: "During a recent premiere of a Hollywood movie, Vivek was one of the invitees at the event that also saw SRK and the entire Bachchan family drop in. Vivek exchanged pleasantries with the family. He had also been to Teji Bachchan's funeral, the first sign of him trying to come close to the family. He has managed to soften the family's approach for sure as when they meet him, there is no sign of animosity between them. All this has happened thanks to SRK's advice."

Vivek says: "Shah Rukh Khan has been very kind. He has been with me when I was really going through a rough phase. Without him I couldn't have bounced back. His words of wisdom will always be treasured by me."

My Name is Khan carries the essence of love

Finally the much awaited film made its first public appearance yesterday. ‘My Name Is Khan’ was unveiled by its maker and leading couple who were visibly excited to present the film to the media.

The shutterbugs were even more excited to snap this exclusive event which was juicer than the film. B-town’s favourite pair Shahrukh-Kajol looked all love-dovey on stage, posing like a real-life couple, arm-in-arm. Maybe they are promoting the film right away when they have a live opportunity. And yeah, thanks to KJo who brought back the two actors together after a gap of eight years. As Shahrukh stated the essence of ‘My Name Is Khan’ is love, with a little Karan Joharish touch. “It deals with the fact that the greatest tool on this earth is love. You can conquer anything with it,” said SRK.

But the scribes wanted more from the team and asked about the promotional plans. Now, known for his tongue-in-cheek smartness, King Khan said that he hasn’t vanished and very much here; making a jibe at Aamir’s 3 Idiots game. So there’re definite plans for marketing the film and they will certainly come up with something, revealed the actor.

So let’s wait to see more from this one…

'My Name Is Khan' is nicest love story of my career: SRK

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, may have two decades of experience playing the romantic hero but the actor says that 'My Name is Khan', where he plays an autistic man mistaken for a terrorist, is the nicest love story of his career.

"'My Name is Khan' is the nicest love story I have ever worked in. It is the physical and emotional journey, that the two characters Rizwan and Mandira go through to find love.

The story is about hope, love and positivity," SRK told reporters last night after unveiling the first look of the film which releases in February 2010.

'My Name is Khan' explores the sudden change in the life of the two protagonists, Rizwan and Mandira, played by Bollywood's favourite on-screen couple Shah Rukh and Kajol, but the actor said the film dealt with love not terrorism.

'My Name is Khan' a love story, not about terrorism - Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan says his upcoming film 'My Name is Khan', which pairs him with co-actor Kajol after an on-screen hiatus of eight years, does not have terrorism as its main theme and is mostly a love story.

"This film is first and foremost a love story. In fact this is one of the nicest love stories I have ever participated in – and I have participated in some of the best love stories that have been made here," Khan told reporters on Wednesday night after the first look of the film was released.

Directed by Karan Johar, 'My Name is Khan' tells the story of an autistic man Rizwan Khan (played by Shah Rukh Khan), who is caught in the aftermath of the September 11 militant attacks in the United States.

Khan, co-actor Kajol and Johar are teaming up after more than eight years, in what has been billed as one of the biggest releases to come out of Bollywood in a while.

The film is widely anticipated by fans of Khan and Kajol, whose great on-screen chemistry have helped deliver several hits in the past.

Fox Star Studios has signed a deal to finance and distribute the film, which unconfirmed media reports have pegged at 21 million USD.

However, both Johar and Fox have refused to confirm the figure, which, if true would be the highest ever for a Bollywood film.

"This film will be a step towards Indian cinema reaching worldwide," Khan said. India, home to the world's most prolific movie industry, has long tried to draw wider audiences, including by forging ventures with Hollywood studios looking to offset sluggish box-office sales with new markets and cheaper production costs.

My Name is Khan releases worldwide on February 12, 2010.

Kajol: My Name is Khan completes Shahrukh and Me

Kajol was last seen in hubby Ajay Devgn’s U, Me aur Hum. She is back, in what seems to be another award-winning performance, with her favourite co-star Shah Rukh Khan in the highly-awaited My Name is Khan.

Looking splendid in a black and red Manish Malhotra sari, the reclusive actress talks about the film and working with Karan and SRK.

“We worked very, very hard on this film and it has been an experience for all of us. It is the biggest film that Karan, Shah Rukh and I have made together. Everybody used to ask me if about completing Karan’s film but I would like to say, on a personal note, that Karan’s films complete us. I am speaking for Shah Rukh and myself. From KKHH to K3G and now MNIK, it has been a very long, fruitful and wonderful experience for all three of us,” said Kajol.

“What can I say about Shah Rukh except that he is fantastic and superb? I think he has grown taller over the years. Once you work with him, you are spoilt. We have come a long way since DDLJ but each film has been special,” said Kajol of her famous DDLJ, KKHH, K3G and MNIK co-star, adding, “A lot of people said that after they watched KKHH and DDLJ, they believed in us; they believed that we were the characters. I think MNIK, will set a different standard altogether and people will come out of it talking only about Rizwan and Mandira.”

Her next film will be the remake of Stepmom, also produced by Dharma. So is she only going to work with Dharma? “It is not a conscious decision on my part to work only with Dharma but they are the only ones who are offering me meaningful roles so I am left with no choice,” replied Kajol frankly.

Five reasons why we can't wait for My Name Is Khan

The air of excitement was palpable at the press conference to unveil the first promo of Karan Johar's film My Name Is Khan, on Wednesday in Mumbai.

The main attraction, of course, being the two stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, who will be seen together on screen after almost a decade in 2001's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Which makes it the number one reason why we can't wait to watch the movie.

Plus, Shah Rukh boasts that the film will have "three times more chemistry than Raj and Simran did in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge."

As for Kajol, who plays Mandira, a Hindu single mother in San Francisco, she says working with Shah Rukh has spoilt her. "Shah Rukh is like a bad habit," she grins.

Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and filmmaker Karan Johar launched the first look of their much-awaited film My Name Is Khan on Wednesday in Mumbai.

Better known as the three 'Ks', the trio have continued to add magic to the silverscreen for almost a decade.

Shah Rukh plays the character of Rizwan Khan, a man who suffers from aspergers syndrome. The film's story is based on the backdrop of 9/11 terror attacks.

According to Shah Rukh My Name Is Khan is a different film altogether.

"It is very differemt from other KJO films" said Shah Rukh.

However, apart from being a Karan Johar film the biggest attraction is to see Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan dazzle the big screen with their chemistry once again after Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham in 2001.

"Shah Rukh is like a bad habit. Once you work with him you are spoilt," says Kajol.

As far as the director is concerned, Johar says working with Shah Rukh is like a family affair.

"It's like working with family. Two brothers start a company, two brothers build it up and maintain their family and working unit together," says Johar.
