Set for a Diwali release Om Shanti Om has become a much sought after film because Shah Rukh and Farah Khan’s previous production Main Hoon Na was a roaring success.

Baba Films, production and distribution company, has offered a record Rs 11 crore for the rights to the Mumbai Circuit, easily surpassing the highest amount ever paid for the territory of Rs 8.5 crore for Jaan-E-Mann. SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment has reportedly sold the world rights for the film to Eros International for between Rs 72-75 crore.

Explaining their readiness to shell out the big bucks for the film, Baba Films executive director, Rakesh Upadhyay, says, “The film is releasing during the Diwali period when we can get a clear run due to vacations. Farah Khan had earlier had a huge commercial success with Main Hoon Na. This film also has the same combination (Farah and Shah Rukh Khan). We are confident of the film’s success at the box-office.”

Considering that Jaan-E-Mann failed to excite the box office we hope Rakesh Upadhyay is right.
