Malaysia Truly Asia´s Langkawi & Genting Miss SRK´s ´Don 2´

'Don: The Chase Begins Again', directed by Farhan Akhtar and starring Shah Rukh Khan was extensively shot in Malaysia, popularly known as Truly Asia!

In fact, eighty percent of the movie was shot in Malaysia, and was filmed around the tropical Langkawi island as well as the Petronas Twin Towers and the Jalan Masjid India area, which is the 'little India' of Kuala Lumpur. Not only that the well known Genting Highlands too featured in the proceeding.

It was expected that the sequel to the film, 'Don 2' would also feature the South East Asian country. But as things stand today, 'Don 2' is being extensively shot in Berlin and from there it will move to other locales of Europe.

The people of Malaysia, who also conferred an honorary doctorate on King Khan in 2008 (and he became Datuk Shahrukh Khan), are hoping that the unit comes to Malaysia once again, may be just for a few shots.

Well, are Farhan and Shah Rukh Khan listening?

Shahrukh's Ra.One is cynosure of all eyes

Ra.One seems to be the most awaited film. Going by the discussions on the film, even though Shahrukh Khan is yet to release the first look of his home-production, it is evident that viewers across the globe are awaiting this SRK film for more reasons than one. The discussions across message boards/forums pertain to varied topics, right from the special effects to SRK's look in the film to the release date of this keenly-anticipated movie.

Initially slated for release in June 2011, it is speculated that the film will now release in the second half of 2011, although the producers are yet to finalize a date. That's because the VFX will take time to achieve the desired results. In fact, Anubhav's tweet says it all: "The VFx team and I are still figuring when we can deliver the film. Then my friends, The Producer will announce the date. But soon now..."

The question is, with Don 2 slated for release in December 2011, will Ra.One arrive a few months earlier or a few months later? After all, there has to be a sufficient gap between two biggies starring the same actor. Even the launch of the promos should be planned accordingly, so that they don't overlap each other.

With Rajinikant's Robot setting the standards, one expects Ra.One to go a step forward vis-à-vis the special effects and woo the audiences across the globe. And knowing SRK and his penchant for perfection, one is more than sure that Ra.One will turn out to be a visual delight, at par with the Hollywood counterparts.

Hrithik Roshan's 'Guzaarish' touched Shahrukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan was reportedly so moved by Hrithik's performance as a paraplegic in the film Guzaarish, that he awoke his younger colleague out of slumber and made him drive down to his bungalow Mannat.

Though tired and fighting off a viral attack, Hrithik still drove down to Mannat where he and King Khan apparently discussed Guzaarish and Hrithik's performance until 2 am.

That is something you can do if you are SRK. "Shah Rukh had asked for a print of Guzaarish because he's very fond of Hrithik. Also, because Shah Rukh had played a mentally challenged character in the Karan Johar film, My Name Is Khan, he was curious to see how Hrithik had approached the character of a physically disabled hero," said a source.

SRK was watching the film with his family and friends and it was halfway through that he rang up Hrithik, asking him to come to his house immediately.

The two are close friends now and their wives are apparently even closer. Gone are the days when SRK wouldn't even want to hear Hrithik's name being uttered in his presence.

Shahrukh finally patches up with Bhansali

It seems Bollywood biggies Shahrukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have finally patched up after keeping away from each other for about two years. Shahrukh broke the ice by calling up the filmmaker.

The news is doing the rounds that King Khan called up Bhansali while he was at a private screening of Guzaarish at Yash Raj Studios, and the duo spoke for about 20 minutes. The actor, who has already watched Guzaarish, reported told the filmmaker that Devdas (by Bhansali) was his best film so far. And sources said that Bhansali looked happy after the conversation.

It may be recalled that Shahrukh and Bhansali severed their relationship when their films Om Shanti Om and Saawarya were released on the same day two years ago. They even took a few digs at each other then. But it's passe now, as they have patched up over Guzaarish!

King Khan and Sachin Tendulkar dance hand in hand

Recently held Sahara India Sports Awards were hosted by Shahrukh Khan, who made the impossible possible by making Sachin Tendulkar dance.

During the event Shahrukh Khan called Viru on the stage for performance and Viru has challenged King Khan to bring Sachin Tendulkar on the stage and made him dance.

Shahrukh took the challenge and very gracefully called Sachin on the stage and made him to move his belly.

Sachin is a reserved person and is not fond of partying or dancing but King Khan is fortunate that the world's number one cricketer manages to dance with him.

At last, King Khan also ends up his fight with Sunil Gavaskar by giving his sincere apologies to Gavaskar. When Gavaskar was called on the stage to receive an award, Shahrukh did not left the opportunity to end up the war between them, he politely said that he respect Sunil Gavaskar for all his achievements and the glory which he had brought for the country. Sharukh blamed media for the misunderstanding and Gavaskar gracefully accepted the apology.

Whole country will cheer while watching Sahara India Sports Awards 2010 on television, which witnessed a blend of entertainment between sport persons and Bollywood stars.

Shahrukh Khan bored of Twitter?

After posting regular updates on Twitter, Shahrukh Khan seems to have suddenly lost all interest in the social networking site.

The superstar last posted his birthday pic on November 3 from Berlin where he was shooting Farhan Akhtar’s film Don 2. When SRK did not tweet for a whole week after that, it was obvious to presume that he was busy with the film’s shoot.

But now that the star is back in Mumbai and has had a few days to rest and relax as well, he did not post any new message on his Twitter page! Is he losing interest, just like Aamir Khan who posted his last tweet in August? Or is SRK just taking a sabbatical from social networking on the net.

More than seven lakh followers could be disappointed if SRK decides to quit Twitter at this point.

SharRukh Khan's OK! as India's sexiest dad

Shahrukh Khan
Well, SRK says ok to OK! On being voted as India's Sexiest Dad, who are we to argue. If we had our way, then, we would have only elevated it a step further and would have 'crowned' SRK as World's Sexiest Dad.

First things first, all the pictures in this mag are nothing short of a sheer visual treat! In this issue of OK magazine, SRK goes onto confess, "I would love to have more children." Talking about children, SRK with paternal pride says "My son has learnt how to edit and my daughter loves to act, so I try to make films all the time." And when asked as to who's a stricter parent between him and Gauri, he says "Gauri is. I think I am strict too, but Gauri thinks that I am very lenient."

SRK's character to have grey shades in 'Dhoom' threequel?

Scuttlebutt has it that Bollywood biggie, Shahrukh Khan
will be seen portraying the role of villain in the third installment of action thriller based film, 'Dhoom'.

Though nothing has been officially confirmed, inside story reveals that SRK has allotted dates for the shoot. The shooting of the 'Dhoom' saga will kick off in March, next year.

SRK is suspected to enact the bad guy, while Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will be portraying their usual roles in the third installment. But the leading ladies are yet to be known.

What has come as a surprise is Aditya Chopra will be directing the third installment as Sanjay Gadhvi, who had directed the earlier two prequels, has quit the film.

Though a deal of three films was signed with him, due to few unknown reasons he left.

An insider familiar with the matter revealed, “Dhoom 3 has been in the news for the longest period. While there have been all kinds of speculations about who will direct the film, one thing was always clear that Vijay Krishna Acharya (of Tashan), better known as Victor Acharya, is writing the script.

“Aditya Chopra has now decided that he will don the director’s cap. While Shah Rukh Khan in all probability will be playing the role of a villain, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will play their regular roles.”

Interestingly, Aditya has directed films like 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' (1995), 'Mohabbatein' (2000), and 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' (2008).

Indeed, 'Dhoom' threequel has been in news since long and now, we are eagerly for some confirmations. What say?

SBKHT: A tribute to King Khan

SRK fans have been feeling deprived of late. So a title Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu, might just take them scurrying to the theatres. But a small note of caution. The film has only a miniscule guest appearance by Shah Rukh Khan.

SBKHT is all about how the superstar's persona has invaded millions of lives across the globe cutting through all sections of society.

Laali (Preetika Chawla) is a flower seller who has a chance encounter with her demi-god SRK at a signal one day. This innocuous event becomes the turning point of Laali's life as she escapes into a dream world. But Laali isn't a middle class girl who can spend all her time fantasising about her favourite hero. She's a part of a larger community where no thoughts or emotions can be concealed for long. Her pointless infatuation sets off a chain of events with bizarre consequences.

John (Afzal Khan) a book seller at the same signal is madly in love with Laali and goes ballistic when her obsession shows no sign of diminishing. Even as he is all set to destroy himself, Champa the vamp with a heart of gold appears to rescue John and save him from disaster.

Veteran theatre director Makarand Deshpande's debut film SBKHT is a satire about Bollywood invading our lives and deciding the course of our actions whether we are aware of it or not. John visualises himself as a Devdas and Champa sees herself a modern day Chandramukhi. But this soap opera isn't being played out in a crumbling haveli of Bengal, it's happening in a little hutment community adjacent to the traffic signal.

The opening sequence makes you balk but the film manages to keep you engrossed because it's difficult to predict how the characters will react. The pressures of life are rigorous and violence continuously simmers below the surface. Whether it is the arrogant police inspector or the carom king 'Wanted', just about everybody is ready to start a brawl. And yet in a moment of crisis people are not alone. Unlike a middle-class society, where people tend to turn up the volume on their stereos when a storm brews in the adjacent flat!

The film has been shot partly on location and the feel is authentic. Newspaper-lined walls, dimly lit nursing homes, cramped police stations successfully create the right ethos. A wash room is just a tiny space demarcated by a curtain. Rubble and garbage are consistent backdrops in many scenes.

Makrand Deshpande plays Salim the local don who has eyes at the back of his head and despite his puny frame beats up several goons single-handedly. Obviously Makarand's tribute to his mentor Shah Rukh!

The obvious flaw in the film is the supporting cast. Salim, 'Wanted' the crime reporter and his German girlfriend Stefie, are all prototypes and mouth corny dialogues. Spoofing masala movies is fine but when it happens repetitively it becomes a shade tedious. And the pace drags the film down especially in the second half.

Preetika Chawla (an accidental discovery by the director) plays the role of Laali to perfection. She wanders around in a hazy dream-like state with a perpetual smile hovering around her lips. Dialogue delivery is bit raw but she has loads of potential.

The narrative stays focused and doesn't try to incorporate any sub-plots. A common mistake by debut directors which thankfully Makarand Deshapnde has manged to avoid. Good cinematography without gimmickry or dull gloomy mood lighting.

This film isn't really for SRK fans. There is no gloss or candy floss involved.

But it's an interesting watch for those who enjoy slice-of-life films. And for those who believe DDLJ to be a cult film.

Daniel Radcliffe: Harry Potter’s take on Shahrukh Khan

Deathly Hallows actor Daniel Radcliffe (co-star of Emma Watson and Rupert Grint) has been donning the wizardry robes for nearly 10 years playing the central character of Harry Potter in the Warner Bros. fantasy franchisee.

Daniel has a humongous fan following in India and the wizard knows a thing or two about Bollywood. Admitting his love for Bollywood films, Radcliffe cites that he loves the song sequences coz they make the film a lot more engrossing and entertaining.

Yes! He has watched a few Bolly flicks. However, he doesn’t quite remember the difficult names, them being in Hindi with which he is not quite acquainted.

But when quizzed if he liked any actor, he was quick to name the Bollywood King Shahrukh Khan
. Radcliffe cites that SRK is big in Britain and has a tsunami-like fan following. Admitting his fondness for him, Dan hails him as the epitome of style and class.

Daniel (aka Harry) also professes his nostalgia now that the curtains have fallen on the Harry Potter films. For over a decade, he has lived the life of a wizard but now he has to move on. Deathly Hallows Part I hits theatres on 19th November and the concluding part shall release on July 15th the following year. Are you prepared for the end?

Twitter is the one social networking site where one gets to see elite people sharing their thoughts and emotions with all and sundry. Infact it has become a style quotient for the privileged to tweet wittily on serious matters.

Shahrukh Khan, the Bollywood badshah is a constant member of the famous networking site Twitter and contributes the gems of his minds on a daily basis. However, recent time has shown that he has been away from his favourite site for quite a number of days.

The top actor's Shahrukh Khans fans and followers in Twitter are wondering about the latest
change in the Superstar’s behaviour and his complete negligence. His last tweet came on November 2 when he celebrated his birthday in Berlin with his family and friends in the sets of Don 2. King Shahrukh Khan & Queen Madhuri Dixit Arrived in India

After a prolonged shooting stretch in Germany, SRK returned India on Eid eve.

His homecoming on Eid is the biggest gift he could have given his fans. The shutterbugs had already lined up at the airport terminal to capture the return of King Khan on their lens and expectedly there was hysterical commotion on his entry. So much was the madness outside the airport that one photographer was literally swept off his feet. The gentleman that Shah Rukh is, he helped the photographer get back on his feet.

Incidentally actress Madhuri Dixit arrived in India around the same time. Shah Rukh Khan has always been a huge admirer of Madhuri Dixit. The two stars just missed each other by few minutes. Hopefully the two can catch up sometime soon with Madhuri being in India for some time for her new assignments.

Shah Rukh Khan has been shooting nonstop for his upcoming film Don 2 – The Chase Continues in Berlin. In fact he celebrated his birthday as well as Diwali out of country. It's always great to have him back.

Shahrukh the first James Bond of India

Action is the mantra for Shahrukh Khan, this season. The Bollywood actor seems to be in love with the genre at present. Though the audience is more used to watching the King Khan in romantic roles, SRK is all set to set screens on fire with action in his upcoming releases Don 2 and Ra.One. One look at the actor’s newly acquired lean structure is enough to confirm the fact that he has been sweating it out to become the first James Bond of India.

First of the two action films featuring Shahrukh Khan in the lead is Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2. While the director had already improved on the older version of Don, he plans to make the sequel even more stylish and action-packed. And it is for this reason that Farhan Akhtar is taking a leaf out of the books of Hollywood action hero James Bond. The crew of the film is presently shooting in the German capital Berlin and it has been reported that while a body double will be used for the extreme sequences, SRK himself will perform some of the stunts shown in the film. In fact the actor has also had an accident while performing the acts in Berlin.

Following the Don 2 act is Ra.One, for which Shahrukh Khan will have to perform more stunts considering that he will play a superhero in the movie. Ra.One is being touted as one of the most ambitious projects undertaken by the actor in his flourishing career. Action or no action, we love Shahrukh and will be waiting for his films to hit theaters.

Shah Rukh Khan’s kids are my God-children: Karan Johar

“I am everything that a child can be. At 38, I am still as dependant on my mother as I used to be when I was a child. I am a messy eater and I have bad eating habits. I have a poor sense of time management and need constant mothering,” are some of the candid confessions from Karan Johar, one of the leading filmmakers in the country. “On Children’s Day, everyone must celebrate the child in them,” he adds.

Single and eligible, the filmmaker reveals he does not miss having kids of his own. And the reason? “Shah Rukh’s kids (Suhana and Aryan) are my God-children. They are a Godsend and I dote on them completely! I regard them as my own children. Besides, I’m also fond of my cousins’ daughters. So, there, I have so many children!” he adds.

Currently, his show Koffee with Karan is the much-talked-about show on air. On being asked what makes the biggest of stars confess their secrets to him on national television, Karan attributes this to the comfort factor.

“It’s all about lounging around and having a good time with your close pals. The cameras are just incidental. So, there’s no strategy, no script and no agenda. It’s all about some conversations over coffee. So, you should not expect some over-the-top philosophy... I’m just having a fun time with my friends and I’m inviting everybody to be a part of it,” Karan says.

Karan informs that My Name Is Khan is getting released in China on November 30 this year. “I am proud to say that My Name is Khan has become India’s first true global film. It has got a tremendous response at the Berlin Film Festival and the foreign box office collections of the film are stupendous. It is now getting released in China after France and Germany. I must also thank Fox Pictures for giving me such great support,” he adds.

SRK not my pal: Makrand

Makrand Deshpande, the "Makdee" guy, has come to be better known as Shah Rukh Khan's friend in recent times, thanks to his directorial venture "Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu", which revolves around Shah Rukh complementing a girl for his looks and how that affects her life.

Shah Rukh also makes a special appearance in the film. But Makrand dispels all misconceptions about his relationship with the superstar. "Shahrukh is not my friend; it is he who calls me his friend," he clarifies and goes on to elaborate, "SRK and I have known each other before we worked together in " Circus" but I have never called him my friend. Bollywood is mostly about professional contacts." So what about news that the SRK had had a falling out with his friends in Bollywood? "When people have worked with Shah Rukh for years, they start considering him their friend. But a man like him, I doubt, has time to either keep his friends happy or fight with them. And these rifts come when he can't do favours for his friends," replies the filmmaker.

But according to Makrand, Shah Rukh was not irreplaceable for his film, though he was the first choice. "I don't think any other Khan in the industry can have the same impact as SRK has on others. There is a clear difference between his aura and others'," he says. But if not Shah Rukh, the film then would have been based on Mr Perfectionist in Bollywood. "Though it would not impact a girl much if Aamir told her ki tu khoobsurat hai, yet he would be my second choice for the movie since he is a very good teacher and even in real life people listen to him," he reasons.

But his upcoming film aside, Makrand has also been playing cameos in films and serials. However, his cameo in "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" extended into a rather long one. "TV doesn't interest me much, and I made an appearance on "Kyunki..." only because of the continuous persistence of Ekta Kapoor. She told me that it was like a cameo and I only had to shoot for eights days. But unfortunately, as I would call it, the character picked up so well that I was told I can't leave the show just like that and had to shoot for several months before I could call it quits. I became the hot topic of discussion among women at kitty parties," laughs Makrand, who will now be playing another cameo in the serial "Bhagowali".

And Makrand believes that it is his signature style – the overgrown hair and the salt-and-pepper beard – that fetches him roles. So want as much as he may, to change his look, he can't. "In our industry the acting prowess of an actor is hardly put under consideration; it is basically his looks and his popularity that is kept in mind while handing out roles. This weird look of mine has been quite popular. People like to see me like this and so writers write roles keeping my look in mind. My next films "My Friend Pinto" and "Guzaarish" with Sanjay Leela Bhansali have me in almost the same look," he shares, adding, "I am excited about the latter because I've worked with my favourite lady in Bollywood, Aishwarya in the film. And thanks to Hrithik who suggested my name for the small role that I have in the movie," he smiles.

Shahrukh Khan: Interesting Tale of the Taxi Ride

Don 2 actor Shahrukh Khan has got a fan following that can be traced to every part of the globe and Berlin, certainly, is no different. In fact, every night when SRK returns to his hotel he finds a plethora of fans waiting outside for the King.

And SRK humbly acknowledges their presence and signs autographs for them. At times, he even sends out some refreshments for those waiting for hours. SRK is big in Germany and one interesting story revolves around a taxi ride.

After the day’s shooting wrapped up for Don 2, SRK and the crew indulged in some football-playing in a nearby ground. It went on till the wee hours of the morning after which SRK decided to have some coffee. Instead of opting for the car, he decided to hail a cab.

However, the cab driver was quick to spot his passenger and refused to accept payment from him. Even though Shahrukh insisted, the driver only asked for his pic since his daughter was a die-hard fan of the Indian actor.

SRK obliged and the driver’s daughter must be a happy child by now. Interestingly, actor Orlando Bloom, who was stationed at the same hotel, got pissed off by the surge of paparazzi thinking they had queued up for him. However, he was taken aback when he was told that the mob had assembled for Shahrukh Khan and not for him. After all, ‘11 mulkon ki police Don ko dhoondh rahi hai’.

Shahrukh Khan: Special Agent or spy in Don 2?

Shahrukh Khan the star who is well known as Baadshah or King of Bollywood is certainly akin to doing a role certifying to that designation after all, he did portray the role of a spy in the movie Baadshah which was quite well appreciated by the audiences. So what is he going to be in the forth coming film Don 2 ,a special agent or spy?

However after playing a gang leader in the Farhan Akhtar film Don, this star is reportedly going to play a totally different character in the sequel Don 2.

Coming to think of it, the title suggests Don 2 and his character is touted to be quite different from Don and it is going to be a positive character, so the question that comes to mind is that is SRK going to play the role of a special Agent or a special spy in Don 2?

That would also mean that SRK was going to be an agent working for a reputed institution like the government. This could also mean that he could be working to give service to society and mankind as he works as a secret agent- whoosh! All this only seemingly adds up to the fact that Shahrukh Khan just might be stepping into the shoes of a 007 James Bond like character!

Wow! If this is true then Shahrukh’s fans are going to have a great time watching their favorite star cracking on the hideouts of scrupulous people and getting them to the law enforcement team.

Besides all this the movie is going to be a sleek, stylish and highly sophisticated amalgamation of action comedy and wit. So wait all you SRK fans your favorite star is about to surprise you in the coming year!

Shahrukh Khan is a powerful brand

The saleability of stars has always benefitted filmmakers. After all, that is the reason why stars come with such a huge price tag. However, an actor like Shah Rukh Khan is a class apart. Even movies that just feature his name in the title can draw a lot of attention irrespective of whether he is playing a significant role in it.

Recently Makrand Deshpande, who is promoting his upcoming film ‘Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu’, came to witness the hype and hoopla that surrounds SRK. He says, “ I had booked a mall for the shooting of the movie. But when the mall authorities found out about the name of the movie, they hiked the price. I was surprised to see the impact of Shah Rukh’s name on my movie,” says Makrand. He further adds, “ From that day I realised the power of brand name.

Shah Rukh’s name itself is a powerful brand.” However, speaking about his brand choice, the director says, “ I don’t believe in flaunting brands. I lead a simple life I take or do whatever I like. I don’t go for branded stuff.” It remains to be seen how much impact the movie has on the box office though.

I never thought I will work without Shahrukh: Farah Khan

Farah Khan is mum on what led to a fall out between her and best friend Shahrukh Khan but the director says she never thought of working without the actor, who starred in two of her films.

The choreographer-turned-director is all set to roll out her new film 'Tees Maar Khan' this Christmas, which stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. It is for the first time that Farah is working with a lead actor other than Shahrukh.

The director, who had once declared that she would never work with any actor other than Shahrukh, today feels that it is best not to make such announcements in the industry. "I did say things in that regard and in all honesty, I meant them genuinely as well. However, things changed, circumstances changed and a lot of other things happened that made me go for Akshay," said Farah.

"I never thought that there would be a day when I won't be working with Shah Rukh. I was very earnest about that."

Shahrukh Khan: Next project to be with ‘Dabangg ‘director?

Shahrukh Khan the undisputed King of B town might have been out of the limelight these days due to his busy shooting schedules, but that not make him be completely forgotten by the who’s who of the film industry in Mumbai.

Reports flying around are that SRK might soon be working with the successful director of Dabanng; Abhinav Kashyap. It seems that the director had gone to meet the star to narrate the script that he is considering to work on for his next film. SRK has liked the script and if all goes as planned then the shooting of the film could begin early next year.

Shahrukh Khan the busy star has not had any releases after Karan Johar’s ‘My Name is Khan, as he was quite busy shooting for his home production ‘RA One’, and Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 2’.

Right now he is busy with the Farhan Akhtar film and both these upcoming films are being touted as great films.

‘RA ONE’is of a different genre with sci- fi as its backdrop idea whereas ‘’Don 2’ is an action thriller which will see SRK in a totally different light from the first one in the series ‘Don’.

Now after a long absence from the silver screen the next year is surely going to see quite a lot of SRK films being released in theaters great treat for all his fans!

Don 2 to have fight sequel between Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan

Don 2 produced by Farhan Akhtar and after ten years he is bringing together two very popular and loved bollywood actors of the 21st century, Shah Rukh khan and Hrithik Roshan. After their last film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, both the stars were busy in their respective career and didn’t share the screen together for ten years.

Although in Don 2 also Hrithik is doing only a cameo role, however audiences are psyched to see both the megastars together. The detail of Hrithik’s role is not yet known as the director is keeping that under
tight wraps. When asked, Hrithik said that he was doing it for a friend and he is very happy with his part.

Sources said the film would have an interesting highlight, a fight sequel between Hrithik Roshan and Shahrukh Khan. To shoot the sequel Hrithik flew to Berlin and celebrated Shah Ruk’s birthday.

On his birthday although SRK was missing Karan Johar, his biggest buddy, who was ill but he had family and friends to celebrate it with. He even said that it was the best birthday he has had so far. Hrithik organized the whole thing and threw a huge birthday bash for Shahrukh Khan.

A VIP 'welcome' is what Shah Rukh Khan got upon his arrival at Rome's Fiumicino airport. Also a special exit from the terminal

Shah Rukh Khan was in Rome on Sunday for the international premiere of My Name Is Khan. After landing, the actor didn't have to go through the regular customs route and was instead granted a VIP exit.

The organisers ensured that the actor was given special treatment. They did not want a repeat of the incident (see box) in the US where the actor was held for questioning for two hours after he landed.

It is learnt that the officials were briefed well in advance about SRK's arrival details and were instructed to give him a 'special' exit.

An insider reveals, "Shah Rukh arrived at Rome's Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino airport.

On landing, he was greeted by a special convoy that accompanied him to the special exit. The actor also did not have to go through the customs check.

This privilege is mostly extended to politicians and VIPs. An since SRK is a huge star in Italy, they offered him this special welcome.

Aalif Surti of Fox confirms, "They were extremely warm to Shah Rukh and made sure everything was taken care of.

He also got four personal security guards who dropped him off till the exit. They also made sure he was given some food and refreshments on landing."

My Name is Khan releases in Italy with around 100 prints. Surti adds, "Next up, is China. It's a huge deal as something like this hasn't happened in the last 20 years."

In August 2009, immigration officials at a US airport grilled Shah Rukh Khan for two hours because his name came up on a computer alert list.

He was detained for questioning early one morning at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The actor was headed to Chicago to take part in celebrations with the city's South Asian community.

He was frisked and had his luggage searched and the Indian embassy in Washington had to intervene and they let him go after consular officials sought his release.

Gangster scare at Shahrukh Khan’s bungalow

Shahrukh Khan is far away in Berlin but a hoax call to police created a panic at the superstar’s bungalow in Mumbai today.

According to reports, the police control room received a call from an anonymous caller on Monday afternoon, claiming that a businessman, allegedly Gutka baron Sachin Joshi, would be killed by members of gangster Chhota Shakeel at SRK’s bungalow.

The police cordoned off the bungalow after receiving the call and checked every parcel that was sent to SRK’s residence as birthday gift.

But nothing alarming was found at the residence, leading the police to believe that it was a hoax call.

“It was just a prank call,” Additional Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta is quoted to have said.

As a precautionary measure, the police have asked Sachin Joshi to be alert.

SRK turns 45, readies for superhero avatar

In film after film, Shah Rukh Khan has romanced the screen as the ultimate lover boy. As he turned 45 on Tuesday, the unconventional looking youngster who took Bollywood by storm 18 years ago was set to blaze a new trail by turning superhero in Ra.One. Shah Rukh, who has over 60 films under his belt and millions of fans across the globe, enjoyed his birthday in Berlin where he is shooting for Don 2.

"I have not had so much fun on my birthday before…learnt ripsticking...Duggu (Hrithik Roshan), Sussanne, Raveena and the gang of Don 2 partied," he posted on his Twitter page. He also thanked all his Twitter fans "around the world" for making him "feel so special" on his birthday.

The actor is going for a image makeover with his home production Ra.One. "People like Shah Rukh like reinventing themselves. They like challenges and they like donning different characters. When you are 20-21, you can play a college lover boy easily but he understands that once you are above 35 or so, you can't just do the same thing, so he reinvents," film critic Omar Qureshi told IANS.

Shah Rukh Khan"He is very smart and he knows what works. I'm sure when he thought of doing a superhero thing he knew that it will work," he added.

Shah Rukh made his film debut with Deewana in 1992. In the initial days, he essayed charaters with grey shades in Baazigar, Darr and Anjaam. But it was his dream role in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge that got him a firm place in romantic sagas and turned him into the nation's heartthrob.

Later Pardes, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil Se, Mohabbatein, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Veer Zaara helped him climb the ladder of superstardom swiftly. With a string of hits, the superstar, also called King Khan, became a phenomenon that defies explanation. That didn't stop Shah Rukh, the son of a freedom fighter, from taking up unconventional roles in Swades and Chak De and earning praise from audiences and critics alike.

He also dabbled in production and television. The actor, who began his career with popular television serial Fauji in the late 1980, went on to host Kaun Banega Crorepati and Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain.

The actor, who has 13 Filmfare Awards and a Padma Shri, this year tried to be different by doing the issue-based My Name Is Khan which highlights prejudices against Mulsims after 9/11. The year 2011 will see him both as don and superhero.

While Don 2 - The Chase Continues is a sequel to Farhan Akhtar's Don also starring Om Puri, Priyanka Chopra and Kunal Kapoor, Ra.One is a science fiction story where Shah Rukh will be seen as a superhero laden with extraordinary powers. "Ra.One is a simple story of a father and a son. There have been a lot of movies and songs dedicated to mothers but unfortunately, fathers are ignored. I being a father myself and a part of cinema, decided to give them all some space through my film," Shah Rukh said.

"The film is dedicated to all the fathers in the world. I hope this film will help bring fathers at the front and make me a hero in the eyes of my son," he added. The actor has two children - son Aryan, 13, and daughter Suhana, 10 - with wife Gauri Khan.

Shah Rukh is expected to do some daredevil stunts in Ra.One, which is being directed by Anubhav Sinha and also stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. It is being produced under Shah Rukh's production banner, Red Chillies Entertainment.

Will the superhero avatar reinforce Shah Rukh's superstar status? Watch on.

After decades, a Bollywood film to scale Great Wall

It is essentially an Indian theme in an US setting, which is now on its way to hit screens in China on November 30. In the process, My Name is Khan will be the first Indian film that will be released in China in decades.

The Shah Rukh Khan starrer will have 50 prints with Mandarin subtitles and the premiere is likely to be in Beijing.

Because of the strict entertainment policy, each year, barely 20 foreign language films make their way to movie halls of China . The country has chosen MNIK as one of its foreign language films for release in 2010. Other Indian movies such as Dr Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani (1946), Awaara (1951) and Do Bigha Zameen (1953) were the previous big hits in China. However, after 1962 India-China war, films made here became the first casualty as diplomatic relations between the two countries soured.

“The Chinese authorities are really tough when it comes to foreign films. To be asked to release MNIK is an amazing honour,” said Mr Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios India, the distributors of the movie. It now remains to be seen if this will pave the way for other films from India and, conversely, encourage the entry of Chinese films here.

Not run of the mill

MNIK, quite unlike its predecessors that were screened in China decades ago, is not exactly a hardcore Indian film. Dr Kotnis…, on the other hand, was a sure entrant given that the focus was China, while Awaara and Do Bigha… were Indian at their core.

Where MNIK set a benchmark is the fact that it was the first Hindi film to be released in 66 countries through Fox Searchlight. This strategy, known as a platform release and adopted by major Hollywood studios, was tried out for the first time in a regular Bollywood movie.

Fox Searchlight had, incidentally, released Slumdog Millionaire with 100 prints but increased it to over 2,000 prints after seeing the response to the film.

MNIK, likewise, kicked off with 2,200 prints and gradually grew by another 500 in six months in non-traditional markets such as Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Poland.

Shahrukh also does vulgar stuff: Rakhi Sawant Attacks Shahrukh Khan

Rakhi Sawant has done it again. She has shot her mouth off without realizing the implications of her words.

The item gal who’s hosting the television show ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf’ is often accused of indulging in over-the-top gimmickry to gain publicity.

Recently, when she was asked about these antics, Rakhi reportedly lost her cool.

According to a tabloid, she said: “People call me melodramatic... but I see Shah Rukh Khan doing such vulgar stuff at award functions. Ladkon par chadkar baith jaata hai, he talks vulgar, double-meaning dialogues... isn't that nautanki? He is educated, but see what he is doing...”

Unwittingly, in defending herself Rakhi has launched an attack on SRK.

We’re sure SRK has the wit and large-heartedness to forgive and forget what Rakhi said.

Bollywood's King Khan: 45 and worth $540m

Everything you need to know about Bollywood's biggest superstar

Name: Shah Rukh Khan
Age: 45 today

Who’s he, then?
You’ve got to have been living under a rock for the last 20 years, if you’re asking that! He’s only Bollywood’s most famous actor.

Isn’t that Amitabh Bachchan?
Not any more – for pretty much since the beginning of his career, Khan has skyrocketed to fame. Having started out on television with the series “Fauji”, he began chasing a Bollywood dream in 1991, debuting in the film “Deewana”, a 1992 release that won him a Filmfare Award for Best Debut. Three hits the following year, “Darr”, “Baazigar” and “Kabhi Haa Kabhi Naa,” some of which was pretty adventurous fare by Bollywood standards, quickly won him awards and marked him out as destined for future box-office success.

In 1995, Khan hit the jackpot with Aditya Chopra's directorial debut, “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”, which was a major critical and commercial success. It has enjoyed an unbroken 750-week run at one Mumbai cinema and has grossed an estimated Rs10 billion (Dh825 million) in India alone.

And how’s he done after that?
Khan has been part of numerous commercially successful films and has earned critical acclaim for many of his performances. He’s won 13 Filmfare Awards for his work in Indian films, seven of which are in the Best Actor category, thus establishing himself as one of the leading actors of Hindi Cinema. In 2005, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri for his contributions to Indian cinema.

I’m sure it can’t have all been easy!
No, it hasn’t. 1996 and 1998 were terrible years for him, with all the films he acted in that released in those years faring dismally at the box-office. Among them were “Army”, “Duplicate” and “English Babu Desi Mem”.

But? I sense a but…
But he delivered a few winners, too: box-office hits came with "Dil To Pagal Hai" (1997) and Karan Johar's directorial debut, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” (1998), while critical praise followed with Mani Ratnam's “Dil Se…” (1998). By 2000, with Chopra’s “Mohabbatein”, he had firmly cemented his place at the head of the Bollywood pecking order, earning himself the title King Khan, and soon turned his hand to production. He has since been associated with some of the industry’s biggest hits, including “Devdas”, 2002, and “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna” (2006), “Chak De India” (2007) and “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” (2008).

Nice work, if you can get it?
Yes. He has a net worth of Rs25bn ($540 million or Dh2bn), as estimated by The Times of India in 2009. Newsweek has called him the world’s biggest movie star, citing his fan following on the Indian subcontinent and in large parts of the Muslim world.

That can’t all be money from acting, surely?
No, it isn’t. Khan owns two production companies, Dreamz Unlimited and Red Chillies Entertainment (which produced the 2007 runaway hit, “Om Shanti Om”), a stake in several smaller ones and co-owns an Indian Premier League cricket team, Kolkata Knight Riders, ranked the second most valuable franchise brand at $46m. Plus, there’s money from lucrative endorsement deals, including commercials for Tag Heuer, Pepsi, Videocon and Hyundai. It is estimated that he earns Rs80m a year from endorsements alone.

What’s the UAE connection?
Khan reportedly owns property worth Rs4bn in Dubai alone – including a villa on the Palm Jumeirah and a property on the as-yet-unfinished Palm Deira. That’s in addition to endorsing the Dh8bn Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard a beachfront community in the Northern emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, work on which, he said earlier this year, is currently on hold.

But, as he himself says, it’s all part of the brand. "I'm just an employee of the Shah Rukh Khan myth," he told the Hindustan Times a few years ago.

And what about his love life? Wasn’t he involved with that cheeky director chap, Karan Johar? And also to a slew of actresses?
There’s been endless speculation about his sexuality, yes – in much the same way almost every top star’s personal life has been pored over under electron microscopes. Khan has been happily married to the sometime television host Gauri Chhibber, with whom he has two children, Aryan, 13, and Suhana, 10.

So what’s he up to now?
This year saw the release of “My Name is Khan”, a controversial film about post-9/11 prejudice in the United States. Bollywood’s most expensive film ever, it made back five times its Rs80m budget, grossing a tidy Rs1.8bn. His next movie, the science fiction film “Ra.One”, directed by Anubhav Sinha, is due for release in June 2011.

And in the meanhile?
"I have not had so much fun on my birthday before. toys r us with the kids..learnt ripsticking...dugu,sussanne,raveena & gang of don...partied. thanx for making me feel so special everyone around the world. i am half way home now...but promise to keep u all happy for the next half," he posted on his Twitter webpage. Shah Rukh Khan, still acting at 90? At least we'll all be entertained!

Is Shahrukh Khan Number 1 or 2?

The Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan steps into the 46th year of his life today. While 1 has been a number synonymous with SRK, there are some who believe that Shah Rukh is number 2.

That's astrologically! "Shahrukh was born on November 2, 1965 which makes him a Number 2 person in numerology", says astro-numerologist BhavikkSangghvi.

But number 2 seems to have its own upside. "Since he is ruled by Number 2, he is automatically ruled by Number 7 (Neptune) since both Numbers 2 and 7 always go hand in hand. His sun sign is a Scorpion (ruler Mars - Number 9) and his destiny number adds up to Number 7 (Neptune). So once again, he is ruled by Number 2. In that case, he is ruled by the most creative planets Moon and Neptune twice. Too good!", explains Bhavikk.

Explaining the characteristics of number 2, Bhavikk elucidates, "Being a Number 2, SRK is extremely caring, loving, sensitive, moody, creative and takes decisions from the heart. Also he is a workaholic due to the Mars effect and does not like to rest or take breaks between work. That is a good quality but also a bad one as this could lead to health complications. He is not lucky in legal matters and so should stay far away from any unnecessary controversies, gossip etc. Most importantly, he should stop trusting everybody around him and should only do work or act in what he feels is most correct for him. Also he should also make sure that he does not reveal his plans way too early as chances of getting hit by negativity are far too many".

But now we throw the most significant question on whether Shah Rukh will continue to rule the box-office and regain his number 1 position. "SRK will now be entering the 46th year of his life which is just about okay period for him. The year 2011 which adds up to Number 4 (Rahu - Uranus) happens to be one of his not so favorable numbers, so the coming few months may bring about a lot of stress to him especially on a mental level. However his cricket team 'Kolkata Knight Riders', would be performing quite decently in the coming IPL season", predicts Bhavikk.

On the film front, Shah Rukh has had only one prominent release My Name is Khan which performed well but his contemporaries like Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar have surely hogged more limelight in 2010. Will his films spell the magic at the box-office once again in the coming year? "On the movie front, his most ambitious home production, the sci-fi flick 'Ra.One' is adding up to Number 20 which is not a 'material' number but a 'spiritual' one. The film will be appreciated for being the 'first' of its kind but alas, the box office figures may have something else to say. At best, the film will do average business. But in 'Don 2 - The Chase Continues', he will once again continue his 'winning' streak and the film will perform superbly" predicts Bhavikk.

However, astro-numerologist Niraj Mancchanda maintains that Shah Rukh will make news but below expectations. "Ra.one comes to number 20 which is an average number and that's why the business as per cost will be average. 'Don 2 - The Chase Continues' comes to 88, again a very average number. So both the films will be over-hyped but end up doing only average business. Further his basic chakra is disturbed which is connected to his number position. So none of the two films will be close to the success of 3 Idiots or Dabangg", predicts Niraj Mancchanda.

Mancchanda goes beyond numbers and adds, "Presently the aura of Shah Rukh Khan is greyish and till it does not change to silver with yellow, it will be a tough time for him. (Aura colour changes with thoughts)".

Shahrukh's birthday spirit dampens due to Karan's illness

Karan Johar's illness has put a cloud over Shah Rukh's birthday celebrations. The star who turns a year older today (November 2) has never celebrated a single birthday in the last 15 years without his friend.

Says a very close friend of both SRK and Karan, "No matter which part of the world Shah Rukh is in, Karan makes sure he joins his friend for his birthday. Shah Rukh just doesn't feel this birthday should be celebrated without Karan."

Shah Rukh Khan flew to Rome from Berlin with his son and nephew (wife Gauri's brother's son) only to find out that his buddy and producer-director Karan Johar was missing from the event at the Rome International Film Festival, where My Name Is Khan was to be screened.

Sleepless and jetlagged, Shah Rukh was suddenly told he had to handle double the number of media interviews he was originally scheduled to do.

Says a source, "Suddenly Shah Rukh was asked to also handle all the press that was lined up for Karan. As it is Kajol could not be in Rome because of her baby. On top of that Karan suddenly fell ill. The My Name Is Khan co-producers and worldwide distributors' Fox-Star thought of cancelling all the press and just go with the screening of the film. But Shah Rukh insisted on doing all the press by himself."

Vijay Singh the CEO of Fox-Star Studio is wonderstruck by King Khan's proficiency. "Karan's inability to attend the International Film Festival at Rome was a setback. Shah Rukh just saved the day. We had this grand red-carpet screening of My Name Is Khan and loads of press. Shah Rukh handled it all without skipping a beat."

Shah Rukh has returned to Berlin without Karan Johar who was supposed to accompany him. The celebrations are expected to be low-key, if not completely done away with.

Hrithik Roshan to dance with Shahrukh Khan

Gauri Khan and her kids — daughter Suhana and son Aryan — landed in Berlin yesterday to host the birthday bash for actor Shah Rukh Khan who turns 45 today.

Shah Rukh has apparently received the birthday wishes from well-wishers sent to him and confirmed that he was on his way to Berlin to greet his family who were already planning his birthday party.

“Shah Rukh has received all the congratulatory messages sent to him. He is on his way to Berlin. He knows that Gauri and the kids have arranged for a party but nobody is giving him the details as something’s are meant to be a surprise,” says a source.

Well, Shah Rukh doesn’t know, but here’s the surprise element of the party (that will more than make up for Karan Johar’s absence) — the presence of actor and close pal Hrithik Roshan.

“Hrithik, who’s already inBerlin, is more than excited to be one of the chief organisers of Shah Rukh’s birthday party. The party will be hosted at an exclusive venue at the hotel where he is staying and will continue in his suite late into the night,” according to sources.

“Other than Hrithik, there will be Priyanka (Chopra), Lara (Dutta), Ritesh (Sidhwani) and Farhan (Akhtar) who are going to be there at his birthday bash. Since Shah Rukh doesn’t want to make a big deal out of his birthday, he has told all of us that he will be working the next day. No birthday chuttis or hang-over breaks for him,” the source adds, informing that Shah Rukh refused to get goaded for another day off saying that he has already taken two days off for his Rome trip.

Shah Rukh in the meantime will be in constant touch with Karan Johar and has promised to send the birthday party pictures as and when it happens.

Apart from the star presence, the Indian ambassador and senior government officials of Germany have apparently also expressed their desire to wish SRK personally on his 45th birthday. However, the final birthday plans are with Gauri…
