Yash Chopra to direct Shah Rukh Khan

Yash and Aditya Chopra and their favourite actor right now Shah Rukh Khan broke bread together recently to celebrate the stupendous success of Yash Raj’s latest offering Chak De! India.

In May earlier this year, following Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’s 600-week run at Maratha Mandir, there was a buzz suggesting Aditya would get back into the director’s chair and make a movie with his DDLJ hero. The movie expected to begin later this year is in the news once again as sources close to the actor say that during the meal the possibility of Yash Chopra directing the film was also discussed.

“SRK was very keen on doing the film even when Adi was supposed to direct it. But now it seems that Yash uncle might decide to direct it himself. They are still deciding on that. But the film is expected to go on floors at the end of the year or early next year based on everyone’s dates,” says our source.

Shah Rukh also received a lot of praise from the senior Chopra for turning around things for the banner. Chak De has earned 51 crores in India in its four weeks and over 2 million dollars in the UK and US.

Currently busy with Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om, which is being produced by SRK’s Red Chillies, Khan is expected to begin filming for Raj Kumar Hirani’s next based on the book Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat which is also expected to star John Abraham as well as Aditya Chopra’s next.

I gave Shah Rukh Khan my six pack : Salman Khan

Salman Khan takes a dig at Shah Rukh's new six packs, at the music release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' - the debut film for star kids Sonam and Ranbir Kapoor.

The music release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' on Saturday night ,September 15 in Mumbai was a much-talked about one.

Besides the fact that this is the first time star kids Sonam and Ranbir Kapoor were introduced to the media, it was memorable for Salman Khan's inimitable comments on Shah Rukh Khan's new muscled avataar.

"The thing is I gave Shah Rukh Khan my six pack," Sallu quipped.

Shah Rukh Khan, too, had earlier this week taken a dig at Salman replying to a question, "I'm still talented enough not to do it without my shirt."

Salman with his inimitable comments stole the show from star kid debutants Ranbir and Sonam Kapoor. 'Saawariya', which also stars Salman and Rani in substantial roles will be releasing the same day as Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Om Shanti Om' directed by Farhan Khan.
Incidentally last year around the same time Salman's 'Jaan-e-mann' and SRK's 'Don' were released on the same day out of which 'Don' ended up faring better at the box office.

Remarking on the "I have so far never come in front of you guys, but this time I think I am, I little... I think everybody should publicise their films, they should go all out and in fact I have never done that. Now I have learnt to do it from Shah Rukh, so that people know that the film is releasing and go and watch the film. Everybody should promote their movies. That is what I am doing," said Salman on his uncharacteristic decision to go to the press with the movie.

How they felt about taking on 'Om Shanti Om' was pretty obvious - Rishi Kapoor called 'Saawariya' a "small film in front of a very big film", while Bhansali said he was nervous about the public's verdict on how he had portrayed the granddaughter of Raj Kapoor and the son of Anil Kapoor. "it's a very big responsibility," he admitted.

Salman Khan and Rani Mukherjee have significant roles in Saawariya.

Watch for the fireworks this Diwali as SRK and Salman battle it out at the box-office!

SRK is completely grounded : Shreyas Talpade

Om Shanti Om is one of the most awaited films this year and here Shreyas Talpade (Iqbal,Dor) rubs shoulders with none other than King Khan.

Shreyas says, “I never thought it would happen so early.
SRK, apart from being a wonderful actor, is a genuine person.
And that makes a lot of difference. I could openly ask him things and the energy with which he adds to a scene and looks for improvement is amazing.
In fact, Farah told me you would never find a more generous actor than SRK.
He still has the same passion as that of a newcomer.
He is a superstar who is completely grounded.”

Karan Johar awards Shah Rukh Khan

Karan Johar knows how to entertain people — be it through his films or his hart-to-heart talk show. But like all good things, KJo’s talk show, too, must come to an end.

So, never mind the impressive beginning, it’s a ‘last’-ing impression that he hopes to make in the grand finale.

Apparently, Karan has planned to have an award ceremony for all those who have been guests on the show. Aided by able jury members, the filmmaker and host will be giving away awards to the deserving, and no prizes for guessing who has won the maximum awards.

It’s Baadshah Khan. With his recent six-pack achievement and then also his wit, humour and charm, there’s no one yet who can ‘hamper’ his chances of winning.

Om Shanti Om music in piracy grip

MUMBAI: The most expensive audio deal of Bollywood, between music major T-Series and Shah Rukh Khan for the latter's new movie Om Shanti Om, has succumbed to pirates even as the music was made available in stores today (15 September, 2007).

When contacted by Businessofcinema.com, T-Series Public Performance License (PPL) president M M Satish said, "Yes, I am aware that the pirated songs are already available online but unfortunately I cannot stop it."

Satish further adds, "The demand for Om Shanti Om music is high, therefore the piracy levels will also be high. Just that way T-Series has invested so much money in buying the audio rights, the pirates too have invested big money."

Director Farah Khan too is aware of the music piracy. She says, "It is disgusting. T-Series also knows about it and they should be doing something about it."

What's more, the director helplessly adds, "I also know that when my movie releases on 9 November, the pirated copies will be out on that day itself. But we really cannot do anything about it and the government also doesn't help us."

When queried whether any action is being taken against these pirates, Satish says, "I have met DCP Sanjay Mohite from the Social Service Branch with regard to this but due to the ongoing Ganpati festival there is very little he can do about this at the moment."

Pointing to the root cause of this menace, both Satish and Farah Khan are of the opinion that since the CDs are delivered to the distributors three - four days in advance and are also dispatched overseas two - three days in advance, that apparently must be the source of the piracy.

At the time of filing this story Shah Rukh Khan, who is currently in Dubai, was not available for comment. Khan is in Dubai for an announcement regarding the film's music album being made available for full downloads on mobile handsets and digital media across 23 countries including the UK, US, UAE, India, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

On a concluding note Farah Khan adds, "The audio CD is not very expensive. It only costs Rs 110 and comes with an autographed SRK poster, Om Shanti Om booklet and photographs. No one can get a package like this at such a cheap rate."
