Shah Rukh Khan all set to build stadium in Dubai

Shah Rukh Khan is in no mood to let his cricket venture ‘Kolkata Knight Riders’ bite the dust. His fortunes in the game of cricket might be on a major decline but that hasn’t deterred him to any extent. The actor is all set to come up with a cricket stadium in Dubai.

According to reports, SRK apparently plans to open a cricketing stadium in Dubai. The actor is said to have some land in Dubai and he’s planning to develop that into a huge stadium soon. He is believed to be teaming up with some UAE based developers.

It is learnt that SRK`s decision to take on this project comes from the fact that he wants to provide free coaching and assistance to needy and underprivileged players who cannot bear the expenses. The stadium will apparently be equipped to the hilt.

“When operational, the ground will have all the facilities to host international cricket matches and even other global sporting events. SRK is a dearly loved Indian star in the country and this is his way of giving it back to them. He will frequent the place more often than what he used to. The place might also become a venue for his stage shows in that land”, says a source.

Terrorism has no religion: Shah Rukh

"There is no religion of terrorism," said Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in New Delhi Sunday evening at a public event a year after the Mumbai terror attacks.

"Indian civilisation does not distinguish in terms of religion. We are an impossible achievement in the world and I'm very proud to be an Indian," he added, speaking at public event held at the sprawling lawns of the India Gate to show the nation's solidarity against terrorism.

"No one can have two viewpoints about terrorism. There is no religion of terrorism. I am often asked my viewpoint on this, maybe because I am a Muslim and I am very proud to be a Muslim," said Shah Rukh.

"But I have read the Quran, listened to the Gita, acted in Ram Leela... and learnt Christianity besides being a Muslim... My friends and I have worked on a film on Buddha (Asoka) and my wife is a Punjabi," the super star stressed.

Shah Rukh joined a number of celebrities, eminent personalities from the worlds of arts and literature, and political leaders and school children to mark "A Nation In Solidarity Against Terror" event organised under the aegis of the ministry of home affairs (MHA).

Also present at the event were Home Minister P Chidambaram, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, lyricist Javed Akhtar, journalist Shekhar Gupta, shooter Abhinav Bindra and tennis player Sania Mirza to name a few.

Singers Shreya Ghosal, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shankar Mahadevan and violinist Dr L Subramaniam also performed at the event.

With a message "Terror has no religion. Our solidarity, courage and resoluteness are the answer to the threat of terror", it was hosted by actress-activist Nandita Das and directed by one-film old Feroz Abbas Khan.

Produced and managed by Wizcraft International Entertainment, the event was held a year after the final day when the siege in Mumbai last year ended (Nov 29, 2008).

It was supported by organisations including ONGC, Airtel, SAIL, State Bank of India, Apollo Tyres, Mahindra, Amity University, Reliance Industries, Reliance ADAG, GAIL, Aircel and Jet Airways.

Shah Rukh Khan stars in tale of Mumbai flower girl

A new Bollywood film that explores the popularity of Shah Rukh Khan, has the actor's name in its title and features conversations about him is wooing audiences at the annual film festival in Goa.

Khan also has a two-minute cameo in "Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu", about a flower girl in Mumbai whose life changes after a chance meeting with the actor who tells her that she is beautiful.

"To change ugliness to beauty, that is the power of a star. I have seen Shah Rukh becoming that kind of a star over the years," director Makrand Deshpande told reporters at the 40th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in the tourist haven of Goa.

Khan, 44, is one of India’s biggest stars, having acted in Bollywood films for nearly two decades, and has a massive fan following.

"If he hadn't worked so hard to become that, this film wouldn't have been made," Deshpande said.

Deshpande, an actor himself, said he hoped to release the film in cinemas early next year and admitted that Khan's name would help promote "Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu".

"Yes, my film will definitely benefit from the fact that it has Shah Rukh Khan's name in it, at least till the marketing and publicity stage. After that it will work on its own merit," said Deshpande.

The film had its premiere at the film festival in Goa.

Shahrukh Khan leaves a peace message

Shah Rukh Khan was part of a peace drive in memory of the 26/11 victims.

Mumbai, which is still trying to recover from the scars of last year's 26/11 terrorist attacks, marked the first anniversary of the horrific incident, by lighting candles outside the Gateway of India and at the Taj Hotel and prayed for tranquility and a brighter hope for the city that saw 166 innocent people killed without reason.

Mumbaikars went around the Taj Hotel; one of the sites attacked by terrorists, chanting slogans of peace and reminiscencing about those who had died last year during a three day siege.

"We want peace. We have come to pay homage to our soldiers who laid their lives for us and for the country," said Shakuntla Devi, a local.

Hundreds of youngsters, men and women, drew paintings, wrote peace messages and put hand impressions on a one-and-a-half-kilometer long wall on Wednesday (November 25) - saying the city stood united against any future attacks on this cosmopolitan fabric.

Some of the peace messages and symbols like red paint symbolising blood, black paint symbolising fear and death and messages like 'we will not forget' featured prominently on the wall.

Shaina NC, a Mumbai-based fashion designer-turned politician, and one of the brains behind the wall, said the wall was an outlet for Mumbai residents to pour out their feelings.

"I think Mumbai is definitely more sensitive, if you take this as a viewing what has happened today in this one-and-half-kilometer you will see how beautifully people envisage a brighter future, a future of unity, and that happens with togetherness," she said.

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan also wrote his own message of peace on the wall.

Ten gunmen had landed on Mumbai shores by boats at sunset on November 26, 2008 and fired randomly inside a railway station, a Jewish settlement, a cafe and two luxury hotels.

Several people were held hostage for the next three days and at least 166 died before commandoes smoked out the last of the terrorists on November 28 last year.

One gunman, Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, who claims to be Pakistani national, was taken alive and is presently, facing trial in a special court in Mumbai. (ANI)

Love, light & prayers: SRK

If you were at Marine Lines late on Wednesday night and saw a frenzy of people and shutterbugs, well, it was because of the presence of King Shah Rukh Khan

But the actor wasn't there for a shoot, nor was he promoting a film; he was there not as Shah Rukh Khan but as a responsible MumbaiLite. The actor drove all the way from his house in Bandra at 11 pm on the eve of 26/11 to write a heartfelt message as a tribute to the victims and martyrs of last year's terror attacks on Mumbai.

Nana Chudasama and Shaina NC's NGOs 'I Love Mumbai' and 'Giants International', along with 'Prism Stand Up and Act', had organised an artistic tribute in the form of a 1.5 km wall (the prominent Chandan Wadi wall opposite Marine Lines station) on which Mumbaiites could sketch, paint or simply write their thoughts and feelings. Hundreds of Mumbaiites added their touch to the Wall through the day, and SRK wanted to put across his personal message too. He chose a part of the wall which was painted a bright red and wrote in prominent black letters: 'Love, light and prayers to all'. His message was amidst hundreds of others that proclaimed their love for Mumbai and hope for a brighter tomorrow. He even appreciated some of the other paintings, was amazed that the entire length of the wall had been covered with messages and drawings and said that it was a "fabulous endeavour!"

The actor reached the venue around 11.30 pm and stayed on till midnight, bringing in 26/11 along with other Mumbaiites. He would have liked to stay for longer, but the gathered crowd didn't let him. He left soon after, but his message is more than just another brick in the wall!

Shah Rukh is funny: Amitabh

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan says Shah Rukh Khan left him in a jovial mood after the latter called him to confirm his presence at the premiere of upcoming film "Paa".

"Shah Rukh has remained with me in the late afternoon. He is a very funny man and shakes me into joviality when I inform him about the premiere and his absolute presence there. He tells me, 'He is already there, black suited and with anticipation of seeing 'Paa'," Amitabh posted on his blog.

"Aamir too communicates today and confirms his presence," he added.

The cast and crew of "Paa" – including Amitabh, Abhishek and director R. Balakrishnan have major plans for the film's premiere Dec 3 in Mumbai.

Amitabh plays a 12-year-old progeria patient in "Paa" and he had to stick on several pieces of specially crafted clay to get the right look for the movie. The disease causes premature ageing among children.

International make-up artist Stephan Dupuis designed Big B's look and the megastar had to sit for five-six hours for the make-up.

The 67-year-old says he is now anxious about how the audience and critics will react to the film.

"Slowly but surely the jig saw puzzle will begin to unfold. The test of all our hours and hours of effort at the film shall now be up for scrutiny. And within two hours and 14 minutes the verdict shall be passed. Once passed, shall remain passed. Such is the destiny of those that participate in this wondrous game of filmmaking," he said.
The film is releasing Dec 4.

Wish Shahrukh was here, says Makrand Deshpande

Actor and director Makrand Deshpande would have loved to have superstar Shahrukh Khan for the premiere of his film “Shahrukh Bola Tu Khoohbsurat Hai” at the 40th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here.

“I had invited Shahrukh here for the premiere of my film, but he told me that he would attend the opening night instead,” Deshpande told reporters.

Speaking about his film, Deshpande, known for his quirky roles like that of a gangling ascetic in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s “Swades”, said that the movie was about a girl who has a small brush with Shahrukh Khan in real life which completely transforms her life.

“This girl is in a very bad mood, when Shahrukh suddenly as a matter of chance passes by the street in a car and says ‘tu khoobsurat hai!’ (you are beautiful!). It changes the life of this flower-selling girl,” Deshpande said.

Speaking about his role as a director, Deshpande said that experience in theatre held him in good stead.

“I did not really know when I said action (for the first time). I think I was always a director,” he quipped.

Shahrukh Khan smells good: Anushka Sharma

It’s been a year since Anushka Sharma stepped into tinselville with the Yashraj film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi opposite Shahrukh Khan but she still hasn’t forgotten how the superstar smelled like.

“One thing I can't forget about SRK is his smell. He smells superb. He used to smell different each time. I would be like, 'Wow man! Shah Rukh, you smell so good'” Anushka recently told a film magazine about her experience of working with SRK.

The Bangalorean beauty went on to add that SRK remains an enigma to her. The more she tried to understand him, the more mysterious he remained.

“If you think you know Shah Rukh Khan, you don't. That's the thing about him. He can always keep you guessing. Each day I used to be like - ‘Okay, he's like this, oh no he's not like that’. Every day he used to be a new person for me. He's just so mysterious, yaar,” Anushka revealed.

Anushka is presently thrilled to have started working on her second film, another Yashraj flick being directed by actor-turned-director Parmeet Sethi. The film has Shahid Kapoor opposite her. It is being shot at foreign locations.

Sudeep's meeting with Shahrukh Khan at Mannat

Kannada actor Sudeep, who is working on four Bollywood projects like Rann, Phoonk 2, Rakta Charitra and remake of Just Maath Maathalli, has revealed that he was quite nervous when he was talking to Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan at his home Mannat. The Sandalwood star feels that it was a very moving and pleasant experience, and he truly felt honoured.

Shahrukh was impressed with Sudeep's performance after watching the promos of his movie Rann. So he told his friend Nikhil Dwivedi that he wanted to meet him. One day while Sudeep was busy shooting Phoonk sequel Phoonk 2, Nikhil took him to Mannat without disclosing him.

Nervous Sudeep had his two-hour insightful chat with King Khan. He says that he is simple and down-to-earth with no airs whatsoever. They had chat without any agenda. Finally, he felt that meeting Shahrukh in person for so long is incomparable. He also met Gauri briefly and he feels that it was moving and pleasant experience.

IS SRK THREAT FOR HRITHIK?

Hrithik Roshan doesn't want to take any risk with his forthcoming flick 'Kites'. So, he has further deferred the release date of the movie. It is said that he has done it because Shah Rukh's 'My Name Is Khan' is releasing around the same time.

The release of 'Kites' has been postponed to March 2010, as the Roshan is wary of SRK starrer 'My Name Is Khan', which is releasing in February 2010. Though Hrithik attributes the postponement of 'Kites' to the inability of finding an overseas distributor, filmi circles say that the Roshans are scared of SRK-Kajol starrer.

The SRK and Kajol's pair manages far more scorching chemistry in one scene than all the Mori-Hrithik skin-show put together in Roshan's venture, it is learnt.

Shah Rukh preparing for Khan blast

Big release planned for ‘My Name is Khan’

Shah Rukh Khan is gearing for the promotion of his film “My Name is Khan”, which is due for February 2010 release.

SRK has already chalked out plans for the film’s promotion. His strategy is to launch a full scale publicity campaign of the film immediately after the release of Aamir’s “3 Idiots” on December 25, the last big film of 2009.

Shah Rukh will soon be flying to US to discuss the marketing and promotion ideas with the team at Fox STAR Studios, the distributors of the film.

The movie will also release in Hollywood in a big way at the same time.

Moreover, SRK is reportedly aiming to feature on the covers of several leading international magazines and prominent news channels.

The Khan blast could end up affecting Hrithik’s “Kites”, which too is due for release early next year. The Roshans are still in search of a Hollywood production house that they can team up with for the international release of “Kites”.

SRK interested in fashion, while Gauri chooses crime!

If the latest buzz is to be believed, superstar SRK and his fashionable wife Gauri are apparently all geared up to conquer the small screen. Gauri Khan is reportedly all set to come up with a TV show for a popular channel that will be based on investigative crime stories. While Shah Rukh is reportedly keen to do a TV show like 'America's Next Top Model'.

A source reveals that Khans' production house is working on short crime stories on the lines of the hit TV show 'CID'.

On the other hand, grapevine has it that SRK has already roped in none other than Bipasha Basu for 'Female Model Hunt', which will be the Indian remake of 'America's Next Top Model', hosted by Hollywood sizzler Tyra Banks.

Now, who, other than Bips, would have been a great choice to be Tyra Banks of India! With such a perfect casting to begin with, SRK's show is surely going be a hit.

Shahrukh Khan & Amir khan together in “Bombay velvet”

On the sets of his film ‘Lajja’, director Raj Kumar Santoshi had publicly stated that Amir Khan & Shahrukh Khan will never work together. His words have stood the test of time & the movie buffs haven’t seen their longings come true. In the early 90s, the duo did play minor roles in a mediocre film called ‘Pehla Nashaa’, but they didn’t share the same screen Our wishes of witnessing the two biggest stars together could have seen light had they agreed to work in the recently-released movie ‘London Dreams’ for which, if reports are to be believed, they were the first choices. The roles eventually fell in the laps of Ajay and Salman & once again, our desires were shattered.

Be it ego-problems or filmy-rivalry, it’s no surprise that the two have their differences and the fans would be over the moon if Danny Boyle succeeds in bringing them together in his ‘Bombay Velvet.’ Mr. Perfectionist & King Khan did join hands recently to negotiate terms between the film fraternity and the multiplex-owners. That, certainly, gave the tabloid something to chew at.But, come December, and you may find them in the same frame if they attend Paa’s premiere as both have assured their presence in the much-anticipated event.

Hopefully, on 3rd December, they shed their differences and pose together to the extreme delight of the cameraman.

Shahrukh Khan and Sushmita Sen Together again

At last there is good news for Vivek Vasvani the director of the film ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’. The movie has found a buyer at last. It is almost two years since the movie couldn’t be completed and then there were no buyers since everything from the hair styles to costumes to the décor seemed to be outdated.

The other hero Fardeen Khan looks quite different, so does Sushmita Sen.However, ShahRukh Khan does have the power to steal hearts even now, andthe film makers are relying on him a lot for the success of the film.

Speaking of ShahRukh, he attended the screening of the film Kurbaan held by best friend Karan Johar. According to sources he had gone with wife Gauri for the show and as she waited patiently after the show to leave, her hubby dear went to wish one and all a very personal goodbye. Really we must say that he is a true friend of Karan’s who took time to be with his friend at this special moment, Well, a friend in need is a friend indeed ,that’s all we can say for you ShahRukh.Well Done.

SRK's Autobiography Almost Completed...

Shah Rukh, undoubtedly one of the biggest brands in Bollywood, has given countless video and written interviews. One of the most popular ones, that not only talked about his professional, but personal life as well, was "The Inner and the Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan", directed by the British-based Nasreen Munni Kabir. This documentary, distributed by Eros Entertainment, highlighted the important things in SRK's life, and gave his fans a closer look at his personality, and life.

For quite a while now, King Khan has been working on his autobiography. In fact, his own daughter, Suhana, beat him in the writing race, when she finished her short novella a few months ago. The great news is that SRK is on the verge of completing his autobiography. Shah Rukh is extremely pleased with the outcome, and very excitedly awaits the completion of a project that's very close to his heart.

Knowing Badshah Khan's sense of humor, wit, and philosophical intelligence, it comes as no surprise that this autobiography is one of the most awaited ones of recent times. Although very few things about SRK are hidden from his ardent fans, it's a whole new experience to read about almost 20 years of his life, from his own point of view!

We wish SRK all the very best in completing his autobiography, and we excitedly look forward to it's publication.

"SRK to attend Paa premiere" - Big B

They say Bollywood is one big family. And attending premieres of each other's films certainly a part and parcel of the ways of the tinsel town. In a latest, Amitabh Bachchan has confirmed that Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan will grace the premiere of Paa, where Big B plays a 13-year old boy afflicted by the rare disease progeria.

Bachchan writes on his blog, "And now for the bad news. The London and Dubai premieres stand cancelled. Several issues have cropped up and it would not be prudent to go ahead with it, under such uncertain pressures and circumstances. But Mumbai is on ... at the IMAX Wadala on the 3rd of December and Aamir and Shah Rukh have both assured me of their presence there, today, as I begin to send out letters and requests to block said date from the Industry."

In the same post, Bachchan praised the regional press for their incisive questions and informed fans that he's going to Chennai to "get an idea of the mechanics that go behind a final product - background and sound and effects and titles and sub titles."

Sure, there's a lot that goes behind making a film. Especially, when you have the biggest star of Bollywood in it.

Katrina keen to sign SRK for her film‎

If sources are to be believed, Katrina Kaif is all set to turn a producer. And guess what? She wants to cast Shah Rukh Khan in the lead opposite herself.

Kareena has zeroed in on a French film that's she's really liked and is going to remake it in Hindi after acquiring the rights.

With almost all her movies becoming big hits, Katrina is now thinking about some serious business. Nowadays she is seen taking keen interest in the finer points of film production and is also meeting a lot of trade guys.

She is interacting a lot with the producers whom she has worked with to get some in-depth knowledge about filmmaking.

Katrina was also seen bonding very well with SRK at Subhash Ghai's party recently. At that time itself rumours were doing rounds that the two are planning to do a film together. However, it seemed that SRK has offered a role to Kat, but now it is the other way round, with Katrina offering him a role in her film.

Katrina feels that there is no other actor as romantic as Shah Rukh and so for her romantic movie, SRK will be the man for her.

Did we read Salman anywhere? Probably he is not part of Kat's love story!

SRK’s dadagiri over Ganguly

It’s SRK’s turn to do a bit of Dadagiri now. And that too with Sourav Ganguly. Speculation was rife about who the celebrity guest would be for the grand finalé of Dada’s quiz show.

The one name that frequently came up was that of King Khan. With Sourav as the Knight Riders’ captain, it was but obvious for many to guess that the Badshah would come down to Kolkata for Dada’s gameshow.

News is that SRK has indeed given his nod to this. Says Sanjoy Chatterjee, senior VP and business head of the regional channel, which airs the show, “It’s confirmed that SRK is coming down in mid-December for shooting the grand finalé. Due to the highly competitive environment, we can’t divulge any further details about the format of that show. Besides, we are also talking about two very high profile celebs.” Ask Chatterjee how much of clout Sourav wielded in getting SRK on board and he says, “Dada has played an important role in getting SRK. Dada is extremely involved with the show and interacts freely with both celeb guests as well as regular participants on the show.”

It now remains to be seen how SRK fields Dada’s googly on the sets!

Shah Rukh - KJo disagree over ‘My Name Is Khan’ release date

Best friends Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar finally have an issue to disagree upon. According to reports, when SRK and KJo announced the release date (February 14) of their much-anticipated flick ‘My Name Is Khan’, many numerologists and astrologers told them that the date wasn`t favourable and since Karan is a firm believer of numerology, he expressed his reservations to SRK. But SRK shrugged off the debate and is insisting on releasing the flick on the date decided previously.

Industry sources suggest that KJo doesn’t want to take any chances as ‘MNIK’ is his most special project and person saying that the film might not do well at the Box- Office is perturbing the filmmaker.

Well, why does anyone have to think about numerology in Shah-Rukh and Kajol’s magical presence.

Hrithik’s ‘Kites’ delayed further because of SRK’s ‘MNIK’

Heartthrob Hrithik Roshan seems very careful with his much-anticipated flick ‘Kites’. According to the latest news, the release date of the film has been delayed further because Shah Rukh’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ is releasing around the same time.
Reports reveal that the release of ‘Kites’ has been postponed to March 2010 apparently because the Rohans don’t want to take any risk and are wary of ‘MNIK’, which is releasing in February next year. However, grapevine has it that the actual reason of the delay I that Roshans haven’t been able to find an overseas distributor has yet.

Refuting the rumours, Roshans’ spokesperson said that a distributor has been found, and the delay is only because Rakesh Roshan wants it that way.

Well, we can easily believe this. Who wouldn’t be scared of a SRK-Kajol starrer, a couple that manages far more fiery chemistry in one scene than all the Mori-Hrithik skin-show put together.

Shah Rukh Khan gets busy

Shah Rukh Khan is going to get busy. He plans to produce a new movie titled Always Kabhi Kabhi that marks the directorial debut of industry veteran Roshan Abbas.

The movie is a launch pad for four new faces including Zoa Morani the daughter of Karim Morani, a family SRK is very close to for years.

A source said, “Shah Rukh wants his role to be only that of a producer this time. This is a big exception because he has produced eight movies so far and in all of them he has either had the lead role or did cameos.”

The insider added, “He will supervise the shooting, marketing and advertising plans and will also be creatively involved with the movie by going through the script and suggesting things that he feels would be beneficial for the project. Since the movie will star Zoa, he will make sure that she gets a big launch as the Moranis and he go back a long way. The Moranis are his friends and they manage his stage shows.”

Shah Rukh is at present preoccupied with two acting projects- My Name is Khan and Ra- 1. Ra-1 is also a home production.

Meanwhile the government of Malacca is trying to rope him in for a stage show. Malacca state conferred the award of Datuk, akin to British knighthood, on Khan last December. It hopes he will keep his promise to shoot for his next film “Happy New Year” in the state.

Assuming that he will combine a concert with the shoot, plans are afoot to get Khan to perform on December 11 in Malacca.

The movie stars Karan’s close pals Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in lead roles. The onscreen chemistry of the two stars has been one of the favorite pairings in Bollywood.
