A Snake on sets of 'My Name Is Khan'

When Shah Rukh Khan shoots, everyone would give an arm and a leg to be present on the sets.

However just before the shooting of My Name Is Khan began in Filmcity, Karan Johar taken aback by the presence of an extremely slimy and uninvited guest on the sets - a full grown water snake.

Recounts Karan, “Yes, a snake was spotted when the set was being made. Our production designer Sharmista Roy was on the sets but the others said we should not harm the snake because they are considered a good omen. So we respected that belief and it was allowed to go away on its own.”

But what the filmmaker hadn’t accounted for was the snake’s second visit. And it couldn’t have come at a worse time. A major sequence was being shot inside a specially constructed tank at Kranti maidaan in Film City. It was a flood sequence and the cast and crew were inside it when an assistant spotted a huge water snake. “It was chaotic to say the least,” says a source present on the sets. Shah Rukh was immediately taken out of the water and Karan flatly refused to resume shooting till the snake was caught.

Karan confirmed the horrific scare. “We had 500 extras in the water tank when the snake was spotted. An expert snake catcher Abhishek Verma got into the water and caught the snake. We made sure not to hurt the snake and it was later released in its natural habitat. Thankfully everything came back to normal after that.”

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has proven he is no less than his “Paa” character Auro in real life. The sexagenarian was at his impish best at a recent awards ceremony when he went and “stole” food from superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s vanity van.

“I came in early and went straight to the back into the vanity van, to get ready and be made up for the presentation of the ‘Teen Patti’ promotion skit we were doing,” Amitabh posted on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com Sunday night.

“Hunger pangs almost ripped my stomach apart and I stepped out and into Shah Rukhs vanity (van) opposite mine and stole some of his salad that he was gorging into - he having missed his lunch as well,” added the 67-year-old.

Big B, as he is fondly called, bagged the best actor award for his performance in “Paa” at the 16th Annual STAR Screen Awards that was held Jan 9 in Mumbai.

The King Of bollywood who is the joint owner of the IPLteam KKR or The Kolkata Knight Riders ShahRukh Khan was in Kolkata on Monday the 11th of January to meet up and sort out certain important issues about the team’s planning and selection processes. He was in a very pensive mood and humbly took all the blame for the team’s dismal performance in the 2009 tournament. He said that it was his decisions and some joint decisions in which he too was involved that must have backfired and been the cause of the unsatisfactoryperformance of the team.

When asked about his ream strategy and selection in the auction of players he said that the decision of the selection of players and buying from auction would entirely be Dada’s that is Saurav Ganguly’s decision since he is the captain of the KKR team. The bowling coach Wasim Akram would also be consulted.

According to reports coming in there was going to be a meeting held late during the evening in one of the city’s posh hotels. ShahRukh was heard saying that he wanted tomeet up with the new guys in the team as after wards things become so hectic that there never seems to be the time to meet up with the new comers. So, that makes him a winner for us as someone with such dedication and fascination to excel in everything that he does is surely one up on his competitors already. So King Khan,King of the KKR team keep it up!

Shahrukh Khan stretches the joke too far?

One of the important things about cracking a joke is to know when to end it. Shahrukh Khan, who doubtlessly has a superb sense of humour, however, unwittingly stretched a joke too far for some people’s comfort at the Star Screen award show recently.

Stepping on stage to host a segment of the show, SRK pulled the anchor Shahid Kapoor’s leg over his alleged affair with Priyanka Chopra - about how the couple has got the media in a tizzy over their off-and-on relationship.

Seated among the audiences was Harman Baweja, Priyanka’s ex beau who had tough time dealing with the break off when PC got involved with Shahid.

Though SRK’s joke was scripted, it certainly didn’t please Harman. According to reports, as soon as SRK’s segment was over, Harman and his sister Rowena left the show.

Shahid, too, didn’t respond much to SRK’s gag. However, the audience definitely seemed to be enjoying it.
