Shahrukh Khan lit up a village

Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan has done a noble job of lighting up a village in Orissa by becoming a part of NDTV Toyota Greenathon. Ahirajpur is a remote village in Orissa devoid of light.

Shahrukh’s contribution to the Greenathon made possible for TERI to start a solar energy harnessing project under its title initiative 'Light A Billion Lives'. SRK said, "First of all thank you to Greenathon for giving us the opportunity to be able to do stuff that you always want to do but don't know how to do it. In our everyday life we are busy with material pursuits and we sort of forget sometimes, there is another world, there is another space, there are lot of people around you who need you to walk alongside them."

SRK further said, "I am embarrassed that I could not do anything better, but of course, whenever any organisation, any one who thinks a good cause can be done, I can be relied upon to call and I would try and do my best in whatever way Greenathon is trying to take this forward."

"And inshallah all the villages of our country will be lit very soon so all the children in those villages can study in proper light. All those children become very very successful so this country becomes successful and we become even prouder than we are of India right now,” King Khan concluded.

Among others, Shilpa Shetty has adopted four villages while Sanjay Dutt two.

High hopes for 'My Name Is Khan'

Fox STAR Studios has said that it hopes My Name Is Khan can recreate the success of Slumdog Millionaire, which it distributed earlier this year.

Chief executive Vijay Singh claimed that the Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer has the potential to attract a similarly global audience.

He told a news conference: "This is the kind of story that will appeal across the world and also to Islamic countries because of the subject of the film."

Fox International Productions president Sanford Panitch added: "This is just the beginning of a relationship for this kind of collaboration.

"This is the first mainstream Bollywood film that we will be distributing worldwide. This is an ongoing commitment to Bollywood from our side."

My Name Is Khan is scheduled for release in February next year.

"King Khan's" Red Chillies Entertainment production house is producing an American based reality show in India. The production house has signed Bipasha Basu for this as the host of the show.

The show will hit the floors from the next month. It is based on the concept of America's Next Top Model. A source reveals that the show will have a lot of women to participate who will compete for the title of the Best Model to get a chance to start their career in the modeling industry. Some minor changes will be made in the show as it is to the Indian audiences and the show will be called "The Female Model Hunt".

The source continued to say that this show in America has gained a lot of popularity and has one of the highest TRPs among the audiences. The American show was hosted by the former supermodel Tyra Banks.

In India, one will see model-turned-actress Bipasha Basu as the show host.

According to the sources, the show will have around nine to thirteen episodes and will start with 10-14 contestants. In each episode, one contestant will be eliminated. There will also be a bench of judges which is still under the process and they will be chosen from the modeling industry.

SRK has two NEW films

A little birdie tells me that Shah Rukh Khan is all set to begin two new ventures apart from Farah Khan's Happy New Year, this year. These two projects will be made under Khan's own banner Red Chillies Entertainment.

The first one will be directed by Roshan Abbas and will star Shakti Kapoor's daughter Shraddha. And something tells me that it might just be the right kind of break for the little one.

The other film will be based on the bestselling novel Zoya Factor. The director for this one is still to be finalised.

What's more, both the projects are set to go on the floors by next year. As for the films, both will have contemporary storylines keeping in mind the changing trends of Hindi cinema.

Well, here's hoping that both do better than Khan's last effort Billu!
