RAB NE... ''Haule Haule'' rocks!

In our music review of the Aditya Chopra directed Shah Rukh Khan starrer, RAB NE BANA DI JODI, we had claimed that "Haule Haule" is one number that even SRK's adversaries will fall in love with. Check out our review!

And it appears that we were absolutely on dot. The song has certainly hit the right chords and the Salim–Sulaiman composition is now a chartbuster. Shah Rukh Khan's cute dance steps (choreographed superbly by Vaibhavi Merchant) and its infectious rhythm, as well as its lovely lyrics (Jaideep Sahni) seem to be ruling the hearts as well as the charts. The proof of its popularity lies in the fact that it is reigning supreme on all countdowns be it the FM charts or the popular music television channels as well as printed publications. And for the skeptics who doubt these countdown charts and feel that they can be manipulated, here is a proof that cannot be denied.

Yes, its marriage season in India and "Haule Haule" is surely rocking all the parties, be it the engagement ceremony function, or the reception or even in the 'baraat' parties.

Well, so its good news for Yash Raj that their album is fast becoming popular and it will surely peak during the right time that is the time of release of RAB NE BANA DI JODI.

Don not to come back

The latest buzz is that the much anticipated Don sequel may not happen at all. Reportedly all the lead actors have no time for the film. It was rumoured that Farhan Akhtar would start working on 'Don 2' in 2008, but then King Khan had other films to shoot for. The plan then was for a mid 2009 shoot but this seems unlikely.

Priyanka Chopra the heroine of the film says, "I think the sequel is a little far now. I don't think it will start soon. Everyone involved in the project is pretty busy now I think with other work." A source has revealed that Farhan is busy with Luck By Chance in which he is acting and also with his next directorial film Voice From The Sky. That's why as of now Don 2 is not starting. Looks like after Rock On, Farhan has more interest in an acting career.

The source adds, "Shahrukh too is very tied up now. He has to look after the promotions of his own production Billoo Barber, then he will do Karan Johar's My Name is Khan and then move over to his another production Happy New Year which Farah Khan will direct. He is also busy with his animation film Ravan. He does not have time for Don 2 at the moment but yes as everyone knows Shahrukh is ready to act in the sequel." So as of now it seems there are no hopes for the return of the Don!

An exclusive look at Shah Rukh Khan's new haircut for My Name is Khan

Shah Rukh Khan has chopped off his long mane. This 'short cut' is for Karan Johar's My Name is Khan. This is the shortest SRK has ever worn his hair.

Hairdresser Dilshad is responsible for Shah Rukh's new cut. It is believed that the actor will trim his hair shorter after a few days. Almost like a crew cut. According to a source, "His hair cut was done in three stages. He is sporting the second stage look and will further chop his hair shorter in a few days."

In My Name Is Khan, Shah Rukh plays a character called Rizwan Khan, who suffers from Asperger's Syndrome, a relatively milder form of autism.

The first half of the film is based on a true story that happened to a couple and Karan Johar has bought the story rights from the couple. Shah Rukh will leave for Los Angeles in the second week of Dece- mber. The film will also be shot in New York in the next schedule.

The film brings SRK and Kajol back together. Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan have so far starred together in the following films, all of which turned out to be hits — Baazigar (1993), Karan Arjun (1995), Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).

Subhash Ghai on SRK

Reportedly, Ghai's Mukta Arts has had a 3-film deal with SRK, of which TRIMURTI and PARDES have already released. What about the third project? Ghai pauses for a while, before answering this, "It's a tricky question. I had approached Shah Rukh for MOTHERLAND. We also started working on the script, but the project didn't materialise for two reasons. One, the subject bore an uncanny resemblance to VEER-ZAARA and two, the role demanded heavy-duty action and stunts and SRK's back problem didn't allow him to perform those stunts. I am sure, if an opportunity arises, SRK would definitely accept the offer," Ghai says.

Adi Chopra holds private screening for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

There was a private screening of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi at Yash Raj Studios on Sunday evening (November 23).

Our source tells us, "The private screening was attended by SRK, wife Gauri, kids Suhana and Aryan, Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, Yash Chopra and debutante Anushka Sharma. All of them really liked the film. YRF has had plenty of flops this year so they wanted to check if Rab Ne… had turned out well or not."

He further adds, "Rab Ne… has superhit written all over it. Like last year, Chak de India starring SRK was YRF's only hit, Rab Ne… will do the same for Yash Raj this year as SRK has come to their rescue. The movie is quite funny and has some spectacular dance sequences.”

“In one of them SRK is imitating old actors like Rajesh Khanna and Shammi Kapoor, etc. It is a simple sweet love story shot mainly in India. Anushka has made a good debut and she is a good dancer.”

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is the story of a middle class guy, Surinder Sahni, played by Khan who is much older than his wife played by newbie Anushka Sharma. The two have no romance in their lives though Surinder truly loves his wife. All her friends are taking part in a dance competition and she doesn't want to because she feels her hubby cant dance. Surinder understands this and transforms himself to become the guy of her dreams, without her knowing about it. She falls in love with her husband all over again.

SRK has a soft corner for this movie. "This film is Yashji and Adi's love. You know I don't believe in saying a movie is special but in this case it is because Adi is directing after so many years. It is a commercial film that everyone will love. I have seen the film a couple of times and I think it is a very nice, funny, interesting and entertaining film. Adi is making a film after years… It's the story of a normal person. I am sometimes Raj or Rahul or Om before people but here is a character of a very simple person. This is very different to that. I want every girl, every girlfriend, and every wife to look at their loved one and say that this is how I love him. And it's very different from what I have done till today as Raj or Rahul. You know talking about this film makes me smile always," smiles the superstar.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi hits theatres on December 12.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is a musical success

'Haule Haule isn't a copy'

As Shah Rukh Khan fans await the release of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi eagerly, the music of the film seems to have charmed them already.

The much-awaited film's music director and lyricist speak about the great detailing with which every song has been produced and shot as their movie track becomes a raging success.

"When we put in a lot of hardwork to make our music we hope that the audience will like our music. We are very happy that people are enjoying the music," said Salim and Suleiman, music directors.

"We made the song on Surinder Sahani's character," said Jaideep Sahani, Lyricist. Sahani says you get to know the character along with the song. From the music to the lyrics there is attention in every detail.

SRK's transformation from the adorably awkward man next door to the man with the right moves has only added to the charm. "We composed the songs according to the mood and flavour of the script narrated by Adi (Aditya Chopra)," said Jaideep Sahni.

"If songs that are composed according to the script become a hit, it is bound to make us happy," said Salim Suleiman, music director.

Music is usually the first step to any film's success if that translates into anything bigger for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi it will become clear only on December 12 when Aditya Chopra's third directorial venture hits the screens.

Now plagiarism charges against OSO makers

The family of iconic filmmaker Bimal Roy has lodged a formal complaint with the Film Writers Association saying the climax of Farah Khan's "Om Shanti Om" was lifted from Roy's classic "Madhumati".

Rinki Roy Bhattacharya, the eldest daughter of the filmmaker, has dashed a letter against the movie released last year.

"The climax from the film (OSO) is similar to the scene from "Madhumati". I have formally made the protest about the climax being lifted by the makers of 'Om Shanti Om'," Bhattacharya told reporters during the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2008 in Panaji.

"It's a genuine complaint. Even the OSO film reviews mentioned that the parts from the film are from 'Karz' and 'Madhumati'. But the filmmakers have not given the credit to 'Madhumati'," she pointed out.

"Madhumati", starring Dilip Kumar and Vaijayantimala, was produced in 1958 and written by Ritwik Ghatak. It had bagged Filmfare's best movie award in 1959. Bhattacharya, chairperson of Bimal Roy Memorial and Film Society, said she would not slap a legal case against filmmakers.

"It's not like slapping a case. I will protest on whatever is unjust," she commented. On asked why such a delay to file a case, she conceded that she had no reply for the question.

OSO was in trouble earlier when veteran actor Manoj Kumar protested against few of the scenes in the flick which he felt had ridiculed him.

A Mumbai civil court had ordered that OSO would be aired on television only after deleting the objectionable scenes. In yet another tussle with OSO, a film writer Ajay Monga had claimed that the movie is a copy of his script.

Runaway Pak teen is upset with Shah Rukh

Nasir is disappointed the Bollywood actor did not save him imprisonment

ISLAMABAD: Nasir Sultan, the 15-year-old runaway Pakistani teenager, is upset that his reel-life hero Shah Rukh Khan did not come to his rescue. While his hopes of getting into Bollywood have gone for a toss, Nasir says he has returned home with an unforgettable lesson — never chase fantasies.

Speaking to mediapersons at his home in Dir district of the NWFP, Nasir said Main Hoon Na was his favourite Shah Rukh Khan film. But unlike in the film, his hero did not come to his rescue, which is why he is disappointed.

Asked if he ever wants to go to India if granted a visa and he retorted: “Never. I will not go to India even if I was offered a chance to study there.”

Acknowledging his blunder (of crossing the border) Nasir fondly remembered the staff of the juvenile home and the investigating officers, who he said were “kind and co-operative”.

Barring two slaps that he got on his face for crossing the border, Nasir said he was not subjected to any torture here. “I was given gifts and a warm see-off from India.

Everyone in the juvenile home felicitated me on my release but another child, Sunil, who hails from Pakistani Punjab, was crying,” he said.

Grateful to Indian authorities for freeing him from captivity, Nasir resolved never to illegally cross the border again.

“I have learnt a lot from the blunder I committed. Now, I have decided to focus on my education,” he said.

In August, Nasir set out for school one morning, but later ditched his schoolbag by the roadside and illegally crossed into India.

The three-month detention in another country has brought about drastic changes in his thinking and approach. His craze for Bollywood has changed into a strong desire for education. “I want to resume my education to succeed in life,” he said.

“I would request all parents to stop their children from wasting time watching movies and build castles in the air. I was lucky to be back after three months. Others have been languishing in the jail for years,” he added.

OSO controversy: Court summons SRK, Farah

A metropolitan magistrate on Tuesday issued notices to Shah Rukh Khan, wife Gauri and director Farah Khan, asking them to remain present in the court on February 22 in connection with an application moved by veteran actor Manoj Kumar.

Manoj Kumar had filed an application against the three regarding a scene in the movie 'Om Shanti Om' which he felt ridiculed him. The Andheri metropolitan magistrate had last month issued summons to the three, asking them to remain present in the court on Tuesday.

However, the three failed to appear following which the magistrate issued notices to them asking them to be present on February 22, advocate Ashok Saraogi, appearing for Manoj Kumar, told PTI.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi song not lifted

From six-pack abs in that Shah Rukh Khan parades in his Om Shanti Om song 'darde-disco' to a mustache and ill fitting clothes getup in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, SRK takes up a curious journey in acting.

The song in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is sure to make people wonder as to what is going on in this film. The music of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is already on the stands.

"This is about an ordinary person's conversation with himself. SRK plays a character who works in the electricity department. He doesn't have the words or gestures to be able to express himself in a manner which is flashy or which would attract attention. Here, he finds himself very badly desiring another person. Now, he is not used to romancing the girls and is not the kind of person who spends a lot of time with the opposite sex. He's not a poet," said Jaideep Sahni, the lyricist of the song in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

"It was supposed to be a very easy and breezy kind of a song. That was basically the brief. The director had already given us the line and it read "haule haule". That was part of the script. It means that the character is telling himself, don't worry as she will fall in love with you," said Salim, the music director of the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

On one hand one has this breezy number but on the other hand is the one where King Khan seems to have two left feet. That was the brief from the filmmaker not only for SRK but also for the music directors.

"Adi's brief was very, very clear. I want a clutter breaking song and a nursery rhyme, is what the director said. The song should have a nursery rhyme quality. A simple one almost like a master teaching a student. It should have that quality. Something like the rhyme "Put your left leg in, put your left leg out" and that got us thinking in a completely different zone. That's what you hear right now. 'Dance pe chance' is that whole thought going down into those four and a half minutes. So like that concept of 'Put your left leg in put your left leg' out in a very simple Punjabi way and the Punjabi elements in which SRK suddenly says 'To hell with you and I'm on a Punjabi trip' as she is teaching him how to dance," said Suleiman the music director.

The music director duo don't seem to care too much about the rumour of their song being inspired from Adnan Sami's hit track 'Kabhi nahi'.

"It normally happens when a song becomes really popular. People cannot believe that it's such a good song, it must have been copied from somewhere. Even if there is a one per cent similarity, people say its copied. Obviously, they cannot believe that a great song can be done by itself. I feel its a very simple song without an ounce of pretension," said the music director duo of Salim-Suleiman.

It all depends on whether Adnan Sami buys into that or not.

Shah Rukh Khan to come on Dec 6

MALACCA: Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan has agreed to come to Malacca on Dec 6 to receive his Datukship from Governor Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob.

The actor will receive his Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM) award that carries the title in a ceremony on Saturday at 10am to be held at Dewan Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh that will be attended by 1,000 invited guests.

The confirmation of the details of the actors visit to Malacca was made known by State Secretary Datuk Omar Kaseh in a statement issued to the media here Monday following an earlier report that the actor had earlier rescheduled the initial Nov 29 date owing to his tight working schedule.

Omar said that the actor would arrive at 7.30am and later proceed to the ceremony where he would don the traditional official black Malay costume and a songkok (headgear) to receive the award.

“It will be the first time that an international Bollywood star is given the honor of donning the official Malay costume, which would be viewed by the entire world,” he said in his statement.

A press conference with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam has been fixed for noon on Dec 6, with the actor later going on a tour of the city beginning at 2.10pm.

Among the sites to be visited include the Taming Sari Tower, the Eye on Malaysia, Jonker Walk and Kampung Morten, including a river cruise on the Melaka River.

He will later meet fans at Dataran MBMB in Ayer Kerohat from 4.45pm to 5.15pm during the Konset Jom Ke Melaka which is being held in conjunction with the state’s recent inscription as a World Heritage Site.

‘I never get tired.. that’s why I’m a superstar yaar’

Newsmaker Shah Rukh Khan on his movies and IPL moves.

Why have you pushed the release date of Billoo Barber from November to early next year?
We could have worked round the clock and released Billoo Barber on November 21 but it would have been on the same day as Subhashji’s (Ghai) Yuvvraaj.

And two weeks later, my Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi would be released. So I thought we should shift Billoo Barber for February 14 next year.

Why February?
I won’t be in town in January. I’ll be shooting for Karan’s (Johar) film abroad. I want to be around during the release of Billoo Barber. Now I’ll have only one release this year, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Billoo Barber belongs to Irrfan Khan, he’s the hero of the film but..(smiles) I’m there in a nice way.

Once you’d said that all the three Khans should act together. What’s your take on that now?
It’s not up to me to decide, yaar. Aisa kuchh nahin hai.. if it has to happen some day, it will. But I would like to work with Aamir one day. I always tell him that I’ve worked with every actor but with him. Anyway there’s time. (Smiles) Abhi toh hum dono jawan hain aur dono ki body bhi achhi hai.

The second season of IPL is coming up soon. Are you in touch with all that’s going on in the cricketing world?
I don’t work with IPL, I work for Knight Riders, that’s the company which we have. Yes, we have been working to get the administration and the cricket team in place.

But I don’t know how to do either.. it’s not in my line of work. So we have some experts looking into which player to choose and all that. . Last year was an experience to see kya hota hai. It’s a difficult business but that makes it thrilling.

What’s the game plan for Knight Riders?
That game plan is always done by the cricketing side. I can’t suggest which player to take and how to go about it..that’s done by experts.

I do look at the administrative side because it’s my company. We’re fixing up some specialists who know cricket, branding, and merchandising.. all this is new in India.

Last year, we had only one month to work on various aspects but now we’ve had more time on our hand. We’re the only team to organise five camps.

We already have one camp in Australia and three in India. So every year we’ve created a virtual Knight Riders Academy,we’re going to find talent across the world. Our main ideology is to offer an alternate platform of professional sports in India, inshallah.

What about Sourav Ganguly?
It’s his decision to take a retirement from test cricket but he’s our captain. I think Dada is busy right now but from January we will start taking all the decisions. My cricket team, including Dada, will sit down and decide upon which players we should include in Knight Riders this time. We’ll make a team of 20 players and then go ahead.

Don’t you ever get tired of it all?
Never.. (laughs) that’s why I’m a superstar yaar!

Shahrukh shoots at home

The King Khan is said to be shooting for his advertisements in his own house. Being so tied up in his own schedule Shahrukh Khan decided to ask most of the companies he endorses to film the advertisements at his home in Mannat. For Shahrukh it either is constant shooting of films or appearances in events or filming his adverts for his endorsements, in all this it was becoming very difficult for him to find time for his family. So finally he decided to shoot from home.

It is said that some portion of his building is made in such a way that they can be used for filming these advertisements.

The building that is being built behind Mannat has Shahrukh's personal office, his gym where he works out, home for his security and staff is also made there. But the top two floors and the terrace are used for letting out to companies to film their commercials.

This has made life easy for SRK because when his kids are home he can spend a lot of time with them, they can watch their dad film for various commercials and he gets lots of time to spend with his family. Gauri Khan, his wife, too drops in from time to time to be with him. Various companies like Dish TV and Airtel have shot for their advertisements from SRK's Mannat.

King Khan's Royal Party

Shah Rukh hosted a party in his suite, which lasted till the wee hours of the morning; it had Hollywood's biggest stars in attendance

No one can quite throw a huge bash like Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan. And this holds true, not just in Mumbai, but also in Dubai.

Says a source, "After the launch party of Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai, hosted by international hotelier, Sol Kerzner (Chairman- Kerzner International) and Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, SRK and Gauri hosted a party at their Atlantis Bridge Suite (costs £14,000 a night)."

The source adds, "At the after-launch party, SRK and Gauri played host to some of Hollywood's biggest names like Robert De Niro, Gerard Butler, Mischa Barton, Mary-Kate Olsen, Kylie Minogue, Charlize Theron, Lindsay Lohan, Wesley Snipes, tycoon Richard Branson and some of SRK's close friends from B-Town like Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan, Arjun and Mehr Rampal and Farhan Akhtar.

The rocking party went on till the wee hours of the morning."

Says Shah Rukh, "Yes we finished at 7 am and had a great time.

I feel that I had to take care of the guests because Sultan (Ahmed Bin Sulayem), the owner of Nakheel Atlantis treats me with much love and goodness.

I personally invited all the guests.

Sultan gave me my house here on The Palms."

Shah Rukh is the owner of a 58 million-dirham Signature Villa on the Palm Islands at Jumeirah in Dubai and has acquired yet another apartment in the Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard, which he is developing in Dubai.

When asked if he had a chance to speak to Robert De Niro on cinema, Shah Rukh says, "No, we couldn't speak with De Niro about cinema because Hrithik, Farhan and I just couldn't stop smiling and behaving like mad fans but we had great conversations with the other actors, Wesley Snipes, Gerard Butler, Lindsay Lohan and singer Kylie Minogue.

All of them were so sweet, loving and cool. The Sultan was with his other guests.

There were hundreds of people."

Shah Rukh adds that some Hollywood stars are acquainted with Indian cinema.

"Though some of them have seen Indian films we were actually partying and having fun.

We hardly spoke about work and their perception of Indian cinema."

Other celebs including supermodels Agyness Deyn, Petra Nemcova and Yasmin Le Bon, musicans Janet Jackson, Lily Allen and Shirley Bassey, sports legends like Michael Jordan and Boris Becker were present.

The Royal Family of Dubai was also in attendance.

SRK postponed BILLOO BARBER due to Ghai!

There have been different reasons attributed to the postponement of Shah Rukh Khan's home banner productions, BILLOO BARBER (BB), starring Irrfan Khan in the title role and SRK in an extended special appearance. Some say that Shah Rukh postponed the film as he feared a clash with Salman Khan's YUVVRAAJ. Others were of the view that the flopping of KUSELAN (remake of KADHA PARAYAMBOL of which BILLOO BARBER too is a remake) led to its delay. Well, we can only laugh at the propagators of the above illogical reasons, as these can only be termed as canards and we bring you the real reason straight from none other than Subhash Ghai, the director of YUVVRAAJ.

Says Ghai in his latest interview to a leading bi–monthly, "My distributor called me to say that he wanted to release YUVVRAAJ on November 21. So, I messaged Shah Rukh and he immediately called me back. I told him – Since BILLOO BARBER was supposed to release around Diwali, I had planned to release YUVVRAAJ three weeks later. But now I hear you are releasing your film on the same date. Shah Rukh assured that there would be no clash saying – Subhashji, your film is my film and my film is yours. And very gracefully I think he has postponed the release of the film for me."

So, that is the exact situation and in a way it has given SRK and Priyadarshan additional time to add the condiments in forms of additional dance numbers featuring top Bollywood hotties, as we have already told you.

Priyanka to sizzle for Shah Rukh

Just recently we had told you about Deepika Padukone's sizzling dance number and how it has turned out to be a superb sequence for the Shahrukh Khan home banner production, Billoo Barber. And here is something of interest for the Hindi film audiences, who love their lavish song and dance routines and believe in the adage, the more the merrier!

The Priyadarshan directed film has not one or two but three special (item) numbers by top actresses of Bollywood. As is known, Shahrukh has already shot two highlight song and dance sequences, one with his Asoka co–star, Kareena Kapoor and another one with the Om Shanti Om hottie, Deepika Padukone.

And now we have good news for the fans of the rediscovered oomph Dostana babe, Priyanka Chopra. The latest buzz is that Priyanka Chopra too has a very special number and that will be the last in its series of item numbers. The details and the schedule of the sizzler is being kept under wraps.

Well, seems like Billoo Barber is getting hotter with each passing day and the special numbers by top actresses will definitely work in bringing the audience to the theatre in hordes when the film releases on February 13.

AMRITSAR: Nasir Sultan, a 15-year-old Pakistani boy who was jailed in Punjab after illegally crossing the border to meet Bollywood star Shah Rukh
Khan, will be handed over to Pakistani authorities on Friday.

"He will be released around 11 a.m. We will hand him over to the Pakistani authorities," Amritsar's Deputy Commissioner of Police K.S. Pannu said.

The police decided to allow Nasir to cross the Attari-Wagah border, about 30 km from here, after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) gave their clearance in the matter.

Nasir was arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) in September from an area near the India-Pakistan border.

The boy, an avid fan of Shah Rukh Khan, said that he came from Pakistan in August to meet the superstar and to participate in a TV reality singing contest.

Nasir was lodged at the juvenile jail in Punjab's Faridkot town, about 250 km from Chandigarh. He was booked under the Foreigners Act and the Passport Act for entering India illegally.

Nasir, a Class 10 student, is a resident of Dir in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province (NWFP) that is witnessing intense fighting between the militants and security forces.

He left his house on the morning of Aug 14, saying he would return in the evening but called his parents after about a month to inform them that he was in jail in India.

A petition was filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh in November seeking the release of Nasir since he was innocent. Pakistan's human rights activist Ansar Burney had come to India to plead for his release.

Shah Rukh Khan's Malaysian 'knighthood' postponed: Official

KUALA LUMPUR: Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan has postponed a controversial ceremony to award him a Malaysian "knighthood" because he is too
busy, officials said on Wednesday.

Khan is to be presented with an award from southern Malacca state which carries the title "Datuk", equivalent to a British knighthood, after a 2001 film set in Malacca boosted its profile as a tourist destination.

The award has proved contentious, with some questioning whether Khan is deserving or whether local artists and celebrities should be recognised instead.

"The ceremony has been postponed for now," a senior Malacca official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

"We wanted the ceremony to take place over a weekend but Shah Rukh's schedule was such that we could not agree on a date so we are now working on a new one that will keep everyone happy, but it hasn't been fixed yet," he said.

Since the filming of Khan's 2001 movie, "One 2 Ka 4" at a popular resort in Malacca, the number of tourists coming from India has increased significantly, state officials say.

The 42-year-old heart-throb was to have received his award on November 29, in a ceremony aired live on India's top entertainment channel, Zee TV.

"The postponement of the award shows just how ridiculous it is to give such an award to Shah Rukh as Malaysia and the award most probably does not even picture on his radar," opposition politician Lim Kit Siang told AFP.

Malaysia has become a popular location for Indian films, which have a huge following among ethnic Indians and the majority Muslim-Malays.

Sar ko ghuma le round
Pair zara up down
Itni si ye baat ve
Wo banda hi kya hai

Aa haathon mein to haath thaam le
Oye dance Pe chance maar le
O soniya dance Pe chance maar le

O soniya dance Pe chance maar le hey

Peeche Peeche aaya

Saanu lakh hun gaye lashkaare
Ni saanu tera laung lapiya
Dil deke tu leja mundiyaare
Ni saanu tera laung lapiya

O chal haath ghuma le yaara
O jaise suiyaan saat se baarah
Le ban gaya step soniya
Tu ban gaya hep soniya
O zara kamar ko aise ghumaana
O jaise hawa mein aath banana
Le ban gaya step soniya

Aa haathon mein to haath thaam le
Oye dance Pe chance maar le

Oo oo…

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi: Lyrics and English Translation of Haule Haule

Haule Haule Se Hawa Lagti Hai …

(Slowly Slowly (just as) a breeze drifts …)

Haule Haule Se Dava Lagti Hai…

Slowly Slowly (just as) medicines work slowly

Haule Haule Se Dua Lagti Hai…

Slowly Slowly (just as) prayers are answered slowly

Haule Haule Chanda Badhta Hai…

Slowly Slowly (just as) the moon rises slowly

Haule Haule Ghoonghat Uthata Hai…

Slowly slowly (just as) A veil lifts slowly

Haule Haule Se Nasha Chadhta Hai…

Slowly Slowly (just as) intoxication hits you slowly

Tu Sabar To Kar Mere Yaar…

have a little patience, my love

Zara Saans To Le Dildaar

take a deep breath my dear

Chal Fikr Nu Goli Maar Yaar

Go shoot all the fears away, my love

Hain Din Jindri De Chaar

life is too short for that

Haule Haule Ho Jayega Pyar Chaliya

slowly slowly you will fall in love my dear

Haule Haule Ho Jayega Pyar

slowly slowly you will fall in love

Ishkedi Galiyan Tang Hain

the path of love is difficult

Sharm O Sharmee Mein Band Hai

It’s bound by shyness

Khud Se Khud Ki Kaisi Yeh Jung Hai

its a strange war with myself

Pal Pal Yeh Dil Ghabraye

this heart worries all the time

Pal Pal Yeh Dil Sharmaye

it feels shy all the time

Kuchh Kehta Hai Aur Kuch Kar Jaaye

it says something and does something else

Kaisi Yeh Paheli, Mua Dil Marjana

its a difficult puzzle, but this silly heart

Ishq mein Jaldi, Bada Jurmana

(does not understand) being haste in love is a big crime

Tu Sabar To Kar Mere Yaar

have a little patience my love

Zara Saans To Le Dildaar

take a deep breath my dear

Chal Fikr Nu Goli Maar Yaar

Go shoot all the fears away, my love

Hain Din Jindri De Chaar

life is too short for that

Haule Haule Ho Jayega Pyar Chaliya

slowly slowly you will fall in love my dear

Haule Haule Ho Jayega Pyar

slowly slowly you will fall in love

Rabdaavi sab koi hona

Everything happens by God’s grace

Kare koi yun jaadu-tona

So I hope He casts a spell

Man chaahe maan jaaye haaye mera sona

So that my sweetheart accepts me

Rab de sahare chalde

God will guide your steps

Na hain kinare chalde

So what if you don’t see the shore, keep on going

Doli hai na kahare chalde

So what if there’s no palanquin, keep on going

Kya kehke gaya tha shayar woh sayana

Look at what the poet once came and said

Aag ka dariya doob ke jaana

It’s an ocean of fire, you have to drown to swim across

Tu sabar toh kar mere yaar

Have a little patience my love

Zara saans toh le dildaar

Take a deep breath my dear

Chal fikr nu goli maar yaar

Go shoot all the fears away, my love

hain din jindri de chaar

Life is too short for that

Haule Haule ho jaye ga pyar chaleya

Slowly Slowly you’ll fall in love

Haule Haule ho jaye ga pyar

Slowly Slowly you’ll fall in love

Shah Rukh Khan Actor Shah Rukh Khan has worked his way to the top… And with the trailers of Rab Ne Banadi Jodi garnering positive response, the actor, it seems, will soon have under his belt another winner.

However, what’s on floors is his film Billoo Barber produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and directed by Priyadarshan.

And on the last day of shoot, actor-producer Khan reported to the sets at 2:00 p.m. for a 9:00 am shoot! Reason? “He had to attend a wedding of some police commissioner’s daughter’s,” said a unit member.

But then if time is money, it was SRK’s loss, for he is financing this project. The shooting wound up at about midnight.

But all’s well that end’s well, na?

SRK & Arjun's Bonding

It’s not unknown that Arjun Rampal and SRK have become close buddies ever since ‘Don’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’ happened. In fact the friendship has become the talk of the town.

The duo have been labeled as a hit jodi too.

The buzz is that the Khan and Rampal families have been bonding a lot. Arjun has been working out under the training of SRK’s trainer in the plush gym at Khan’s house, Mannat .

He and wife Mehr have been spotted outside Mannat many times in their gym wear.

Arjun has been over heard giving diet tips to Khan on the sets like he having only grilled chicken and fish along with veggies and going easy on carbs after 6 pm.

Hottie Arjun who’s got an amazing physique can easily be an inspiration for King Khan to maintain his six pack abs!

Anushka teaches Shah Rukh to groove in new 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' promo

A new promo for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has Bollywoood debutante Anushka Sharma teaching Shah Rukh Khan to groove to the stirring beats of the song Dance Pe Chance.

In the promo, Anushka Sharma shows some impressive dance skills which could well make her the darling of young Indian cine goers in the days to come.

Indeed, it is interesting the way Yash Raj is promoting her in their promos, focusing on her almost as much as they are focusing on Shah Rukh Khan, which is probably a measure of their confidence in the talents of the promising young star that they discovered after a nation wide search.

Shahrukh takes on Keanu Reeves

It's not Kinng Kumar or bad boy Sallu that King Khan is fighting it out with this December. A-list Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves is playing an alien in the remake of the 1951 classic sci- fi film The Day The Earth Stood Still. Not surprisingly it's a highly anticipated film and will release on December 12th.

Shahrukh Khan's big flick directed by old friend Aditya Chopra -Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is also releasing on the same day. Major studios Fox are taking the risk of putting this sci-fi flick opposite a tested and proven Shahrukh.

By the way, SRK movies haven't really been threatened by big Hollywood flicks. So looks like the Baadshah doesn't really have much to worry about!

SRK’s Runaway Cameo

SRK has been accused for ‘delaying’ Viveck Vaswani’s Dulha Mil Gaya. For the first time, Shah Rukh clears the air about why he didn’t shoot for the film sooner, and more. Read on…

Shah Rukh Khan has been accused of delaying Viveck Vaswani’s Dulha Mil Gaya. King Khan is being painted as ungrateful for not finishing his cameo in the film, which has been in the making for over a year now. Vaswani, who played ‘Godfather’ to SRK when he first came to Mumbai, is disappointed that Khan isn’t shooting for him. Here, for the first time, the actor clears the air about why he didn’t shoot for the film sooner, and more. Read on…

It is being said Dulha Mil Gaya is stuck because of you…
I’ll do it, yaar. (Snaps) No, it’s not stuck because of me. Vivek’s a friend and he’s responsible for me being
in Mumbai. I’d never say no to him. I’d never take money from him, I will do the film.

Is the problem your dates?

No. The problem is that they’d assumed that my character would take four days of shooting but when it came down to it, it was 18-20 days of work, and that is a lot of film for me to do. See, I am very clear, when I do a guest appearance, I don’t do it for money. I do it for relationships. I don’t want to know the film, the story, or anything. I haven’t read the script of Dulha Mil Gaya and I don’t even want to. It’s not my film. I have just come as a guest, to have fun, to make you smile, finish my work and go back. I don’t even see the films, or even go to its premiere.

So you were told it was a guest appearance and the role was extended?
Let me put it like this, for Billoo Barber, I have worked only for 20 days… that too, because I increased the songs otherwise it was a 12-13 day role. When in my own production, I do a guest role like this, it’s wrong for me to go in for an outside film without Vivek trying to make it look like that and make it look like a Shah Rukh Khan film.

Why did you take up DMG?
Maybe I don’t even want to participate in the film as a character. But as a friend, as a guest star, as someone who is fond of Vivek and Sushmita, I’ll be part of the film. But it should not be about me. So now they’ve reworked my part and now they need five or six days and Inshallah, I will finish it soon. I apologise if I have delayed the film.

Are you comfortable doing cameos?
I do a film after I go through a whole process and if I like it. For a cameo, I don’t even want to do the process of whether I like it or not… I will just go and do it. It’s very clear… like Billoo Barber is about Irrfan Khan and when you come to see me in the film, you will see enough of me. I have devised the film like that. It’s a very important guest appearance. It’s not like Bhootnath. Where the film’s story is not bothered by me. I am just there because Juhi is there, and Amitji is there, Vivek (Chopra) is there, and they are all friends, and they all said, ‘We’ll be shooting at Mehboob (which is close to Mannat), just come whenever you are free’. So I did it. With Dulha Mil Gaya, I will do it but not for 20 days. It just became too much. They wanted an outdoor in Dubai, South America…. I was like, ‘Listen guys, I can’t do this’. Now, it is a five-day shoot and I will finish it. I had shot for it, half a day, about three shots, my entry song… I don’t know what my hair was like then, maybe I will cut it back to that…

RNBDJ last, but not the least: Shah Rukh

Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan, who has a penchant for acting with debutante, says that he has evolved as an actor after working with newcomers.

“It is always a new feeling working with newcomers. They teach you a lot,” Khan, who is paired against newcomer Anushka Sharma in his forthcoming film ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, said during an interaction with media persons.

“They (newcomers) are not over-awed by the fact that you have done 60 films. They respect you a lot but do their own stuff,” he said.

“I see them responding to expressions in a new way and I get to learn. They help me be a better actor,” he added.

Khan’s tryst with newcomers began in 1993 when he was paired against Suchitra Krishnamurthy in the commercially and critically successful ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’.

The ‘Baadshah’ of Bollywood later went on to star with Mahima Chaudhary (Pardes-1997), Preity Zinta (Dil Se-1998), Gayatri Joshi (Swades-2004) and with the ‘Chak-De’ girls and last year with Deepika Padukone in ‘Om Shanti Om’.

On ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, Khan said, the film deals with the trials and tribulations of husband-wife relationships.

“The film is an entertainer that is intriguing as well as thrilling and deals with the relationship that exists between a middle-class husband and wife,” he said. Incidentally, the movie is King Khan’s first release in 14 months.

“I haven’t had a release for a long time because of my schedules but I believe that this movie will fulfil the ‘kasar’ of the past 14 months. ‘Rab Ne Bana…’ is the last release of the year but not at all the least,” he added.

While his ‘Haule-Haule’ jig in the film is getting popular, Shahrukh remains modest about his dancing abilities. “I am not being modest but truly this ‘Pappu can’t dance saala. I genuinely have two left feet,” he said.

SRK’s camp doing wonders for struggling Vivek

Vivek Oberoi, once hailed as one of the most talented newcomers almost wrecked his career, when Mrs Aishwarya Bachchan entered his life. He did some demeaning pleadings with superstars to straighten out his messy career, but to no avail. But the infamous battle between Shah Rukh and Salman changed his life! How? Well, initially, he tried to appease Salman (the two had fought over Aishwarya) was shooed off. Then Vivek went over to Shah Rukh’s camp and that did wonders.

Vivek Oberoi, now boasts of a prestigious unnamed project by Shah Rukh’s ‘very close friend’ Karan Johar, that also stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The ‘Omkara’ trio of 'Langda Tyagi', 'Dolly' and 'Keso' would be seen on big screen again. The film is directed by Rensil D'Silva, who had written ‘Rang De Basanti’. Rensil D'Silva is to begin shooting by mid-October.

Vivek Oberoi is playing his cards safe; he is all praises for his co-actors. Talking about Kareena, the actor said, “Kareena comes unprepared to the sets and believes in no rehearsals. Moreover she does not need many re–takes to deliver an amazing performance.”

Recently, Vivek was seen in a party thrown by Shah Rukh and Gauri. According to an eyewitness, "At Gauri's party at Mannat (to celebrate SRK's 43rd birthday) Saturday night, most people were shocked to see Vivek Oberoi getting up close and personal with SRK and Gauri. VO's appearance at the bash is surprising because Gauri's party was a very intimate one meant only for a select few those very close to the couple's innermost circle."

“Though Vivek and SRK have been bonding over the last few months (Vivek had even gone to Kolkata to cheer for Shahrukh's ‘Knight Riders’ team) especially due to Karan Johar (Vivek acts in his next along with Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan), that still doesn't explain Vivek's presence at such an exclusive party! There were very close friends present and Vivek is not doing any ads, film or shows with Shahrukh. Their sudden bonding raised lots of eyebrows at the party as people kept wondering about the connection," the source added.

Well, we hope that amidst this camps and intrigues, Vivek doesn’t goof up again to end up a loser. Hold on tight to King Khan’s camp!

The SRK-Raj Kapoor factor in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'

If you are thinking that we are spinning a scoop around the fact that the younger and modern Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is playing a character which goes by the name of Raj Kapoor, then you are mistaken!

Yes, SRK does go by the name Raj Kapoor in the film and is once again essaying the iconic Raj, which he made so endearing and famous after the trendsetting DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE. A role which many other actors tried to enact unsuccessfully. However, we are referring to the real Raj Kapoor, the original showman of Bollywood, whose presence can be felt many a times in the Aditya Chopra directed Shah Rukh Khan starrer.

Firstly the simpleton character of Shah Rukh Khan (whose screen name is Surinder Sahni in RAB NE…) seems to be inspired by the simple, lovable ragamuffin/vagabond/vagrant played by the legend, Raj Kapoor in his AVARA/ANARI days. Notice the simplicity and SRK’s soft, soothing dialogue delivery style (Surinder Sahni this side ji!) which tug at the heart, much similar to Raj Kapoor’s characters in his hey days.

Then we have the couple logo of the R.K.Films (more like a dancing couple here) which makes an appearance in the promos and the posters of RAB NE BANA DI JODI And last but not the least, the original showman and his family’s presence is highly pronounced in the brilliant dance track, ‘Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte’, where King Khan pays homage to the greats of Bollywood. And topping the list is of course Raj Kapoor followed by his brother, the great dancing star, Shammi Kapoor and the number ends with his youngest son, the super actor, Rishi Kapoor.

So, with the Raj Kapoor factor embedded in its plot we are sure that Bollywood’s global superstar, Shah Rukh Khan will win the hearts of zillions through his effective portrayal of the winning underdog in RAB NE BANA DI JODI, when the film releases on December 12.

Shah Rukh sings 'Kabhi Kabhi Jodiyan'

Shah Rukh Khan and debutant Anushka Sharma will be crooning together a song for their upcoming film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

The actor has rendered a number Kabhi Kabhi Jodiyan for the film now. This is not the first time that the actor has sung a number. It can be recalled that before Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, the King Khan had sung Apun Bola Tu Meri Laila for Josh (2000).

Interestingly co-star Anushka Sharma has also lent her voice to a song number Yaara Oh Yaara alongwith five different singers. Aditya Chopra had unveiled the first promo of the film on SRK’s 43rd birthday as a special gift recently. This is the first time that Yash Raj Films broke their tradition of releasing a promo of the film before its music release.

SRK and Aditya Chopra whose association goes a long way are leaving no stone unturned to make the film a huge success. The King Khan also features in a matured and elderly look with a moustache in the movie.

The film also features four A list actresses - Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra - in special appearances and has seven singers - Lata Mangeshkar, Sonu Nigam, Abhijeet, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan singing for composer duo Salim Sulaiman.

The film is all set for a 12th December release.

Shah Rukh and Anushka impress in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' theatrical trailer

The theatrical trailer of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, released on Friday, November 14, promises wholesome and fun filled family entertainment in the Yash Raj vein that will appeal to audiences across the board.

The film is helmed and penned by Aditya Chopra. The music is by Salim Sulaiman, lyrics are by Jaideep Sahni and the choreography is by Shiamak Davar and Vaibhavi Merchant.

Yash Raj Films released the first look promo for the film on Sunday, November 2, to coincide with lead star Shah Rukh Khan's 43rd birthday.

The film focuses on the love between a 40-year-old man played by Shah Rukh Khan and a 16-year-old girl, played by Anushka Sharma, and is believed to have an interesting twist in the climax. Shah Rukh has two looks in the film. In the first half he plays casanova. He falls in love with this girl who is very simple and Shah Rukh adapts the character of a simpleton to woo her. She falls for it but now Shah Rukh has a hard time revealing his true identity.

As part of a unique marketing strategy, YRF has also installed life-sized 6-feet tall lenticular standees at all theatres, which gives the onlooker a unique view of both the looks of Shah Rukh Khan in the film, when viewed from different angles.

Shahrukh Khan Calls Himself the Oldest Employee of Hyundai in India

Economic car company, Hyundai, celebrated its two millionth car in India, brand ambassador Shahrukh Khan named himself the oldest employee of the company! Why? Well Shahrukh Khan has been associated with the company for over a decade, which is as long as the company has been rooted in India. The King Khan also went onto say he's proud to be associated with Hyundai as it helps achieve the aspirations of middle class citizens in India who aspire to own a car. He also mentioned how he always strives to represent the middle class... Sure SRK, if having a mansion worth millions of dollars, a home in Dubai and being one the highest paid actors in India represents the middle class, then we've just been schooled!

“Shahrukh left the party & called up the media” - Salman Khan

Salman Khan bluntness and sarcastic humour can have you blinking at times…Here he continues blaming Shah Rukh for the much publicised spat. Excerpts from the interview…

Can we talk about SRK?
Whatever I had to speak on SRK, I said it then straight out. It’s SRK’s choice to say whatever sweet things he’s saying now four months later.

You wouldn’t like to add anything more?

Why would I want to? I am promoting Yuvvraaj.

Sanjay Dutt wants to play mediator between you and SRK. Are you okay with this?
No. I don’t want anybody playing mediator.

Have you told your family to stay away from Shahrukh and his friends?
No I haven’t told them that. If they want to participate in SRK’s family events they are more than welcome to do that. But don’t you think that it’s a kind of a joke that from one side it’s straight from the heart from one family and from one family it’s straight from the brain? Oh yeh Salman ke behalf pe aa rahe hai so he (Salman) looks like a fool. Yeh sabko bulaya gaya, yeh sab aayenge, they are all here, so Salman must be wrong. Because my family is socialising at SRK’s family events! SRK thinks that the fight was blown up by the media that you both would have sorted it out privately had you been given the choice.

The media blew it up?
As soon as Shahrukh left the party, he started calling up the media! I didn’t speak till one week after the fight because he was trying to put me in the middle of something which is not cool from any angle! That is the time I stood up and started speaking. There is no reason for disrespect. Everybody messes up. I have messed up also not once but so many times, without any malice, any manipulation or agenda. If things go wrong between two buddies we say ‘okay buddy let’s hang out together and sort it out’ but if you are going to mess up and disrespect me then forget it!

Are you a head or heart person?
The right side of my head is my heart. I will always do what is right. I am human man! I am trying to be human. I have lots of flaws but I am taking care of that. But there are some things I don’t have jealousy, incompetence, insecurity and maliciousness. I don’t have a temper either, though I may get angry. And if I am wrong, I have the courage to call up and apologise. Say sorry and I am fine. What I say is what I do. I don’t say something and do something else and think of something totally different.

I bring hope to the middle class: Shah Rukh

Though Shah Rukh Khan has yet to start doing the rounds to publicize his latest Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, the actor was spotted in Mumbai doing his bit as a brand ambassador for a leading car company.

The actor did more than just say the usual practised lines as he went on to donate a car for charity at the event.

He sure holds the key to success. Be it Bollywood or brand endorsements, King Khan, who’s been out of sight for quite a while now showed up to gift a car to an NGO in a bid to celebrate the motor company’s fastest Rs 20 lakh roll out.

Shah Rukh Khan says, “People call me ambassador, face of the brands, that’s from the outside, Hyundai is family to me, we have grown together.”

In these times of recession, SRK isn’t really worried about whether the masses can really afford the products he endorses.

Shah Rukh says, “I truly believe that as an actor ambassador that most of the brands I’m associated to are middle class oriented , I bring hope to the middle class.”

Though we’ve seen the geekier version of SRK, in the Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi fans are still waiting to see the younger and hip version of SRK from the film who, if rumour is to be believed, is a hot shot dancer as well.

“I do dance in the film three to four times , but if you ask me of being a professional dancer , then no, I have a left feet. This pappu can’t dance sala, quips Shah Rukh.

So till the film releases this December, it’s just brand SRK we’ll have to live with.

The RAB NE BANA DI JODI theatrical promo!

Just last Saturday we had broken the news about the detailed theatrical promo of Shah Rukh Khan's Aditya Chopra directed RAB NE BANA DI JODI, being included in the reels of this Friday's Karan Johar project, the Abhishek, John and Priyanka starrer, DOSTANA. And here are the details about the teaser contents

The 2 minute promo commences with a glimpse of the Golden Temple at Amritsar, followed by Sikh religious chants, "Ek Onkaar, Satnam" and then we have the simpleton Shah Rukh Khan doing his daily chores and finally going to his office (Punjab State Electricity Board) and saying in his lovable style, "Punjab Power, lighting up your life, Surendra Sahni this side ji." The focus now shifts to Anushka as the infectious music of "Haule Haule" takes over and we see a nerdy SRK falling in love at first sight with the dialogue (in the background), "Kal maine usko pehli baar dekha, aur use dekhte hi love ho gaya!"

Later, the music turns groovy and the extremely rocking signature tune of the movie begins and the focus of attention is now the youngish, still handsome looking and confidence personified SRK (playing his iconic Raj character) in his blue jeans, red T–shirt, sun glasses and riding a Suzuki mobike. And then there are various scenes of interactions between him and Anushka, with glimpses of the song, "Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte", all in a beautiful, mind–blowing sequence, which leaves the viewer hungry for more.

However, the lines that catch the attention and leave an everlasting impression, are, "This December, You will laugh, You will dance, You will fall in love." Here is embedded the soul or spirit of the movie and we must add that the theatrical promo of RAB NE BANA DI JODI definitely rocks. Yash Raj Films have a winner on hand and it shows. The most important thing is that YRF have not tried to mislead the audience in any way. Their movie is a simple love story set up in a small town of Punjab (no Switzerland or NRI stuff here) and they have been true to the film with the promos and it will definitely help in getting RAB NE BANA DI JODI off to a stupendous start at the ticket window, when it releases globally on December 12.

SRK Reveals All!

Asked if he could reveal the reason behind his two rather different two looks in his soon to be released ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ — was he playing a double role? — Shah Rukh says, “I cannot give that answer…… People are gossiping a lot on the Internet about the story of this film.”

Did you know there is an ‘inspirational’ connection between Shah Rukh Khan’s next cinematic release, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and his last television outing, Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai?

Shah Rukh’s dual looks in Rab Ne… are ‘inspired’ by two of the contestants from the game show. “The moustache look I have in the film was modeled after a contestant who used to work at a government electricity board. That character in the film is called Surinder Sahni,” he says. Unfortunately, he adds, that particular contestant was evicted in the preliminary round itself.

“The second look in the film is hero material. The character’s name is Raj Kapoor and the look is inspired by another Paanchvi Pass contestant called Bobby. I loved his look. When I complimented him, he said people called him John Ebrahim (John Abraham). That was very funny; I loved it. I have impersonated these two men in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,” says Shah Rukh.

Rab Ne.. is the only film Shah Rukh is doing this year after the super-successful Om Shanti Om. Rab Ne.., he says, is very special because it marks the directorial comeback of his long time director-producer friend Aditya Chopra; Chopra’s last directorial Mohabbatein was released eight years ago.

His first film, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge is one of Hindi cinema’s biggest hits and is still running in at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir theatre, where it has completed 600 weeks.

“Both Adi (Aditya Chopra) and I could not believe we have spent more than 13 years together post Dilwale. Sometimes, I feel this happened just yesterday. Time has flown so fast and I have been working continuously till date,” says Shah Rukh, who turned 43 on November 2.

He adds, “The promos of Rab Ne.. were to release six days earlier but Adi and Yash Chopraji wanted to release it on my birthday to make it special. So I feel happy and privileged.”

Asked if he could reveal the reason behind his two rather different two looks in the film — was he playing a double role? — Shah Rukh says, “I cannot give that answer. I can only say the process of the film is very good. I have read a lot about how one of the characters I play is 45 years old and is married to a younger girl. This is not true. People are gossiping a lot on the Internet about the story of this film.”
Doesn’t he feel he looks funny with the moustache? “I know a lot of people will say — kaise baal rakhen hai, mooch kaisi hai? Let me tell them this is a funny comedy and an entertaining film with a love angle,” he answers.

“Obviously,” he continues, “there are Yash Raj elements in the film. I have played roles of Raj and Rahul very often but, this time, I am playing the role of a common man. I feel the common man will be able to relate to this film because he will see himself in the character of Surinder Sahni. The look is an anti-thesis of Shah Rukh the hero. Rab Ne will remind you of a Hrishikesh Mukherjee film that has an Aditya Chopra touch. It is a small film with three to four characters.”

Why did they choose Anushka Sharma, who looks taller, to play the female lead?
“Today, all heroines are taller than me,” he grins. “If you notice, they stand behind me whereas the norm is that heroes stand behind heroines. I was doing a song for Billo Barber with Deepika Padukone recently and Priyadarshan (the director) said I should tell Deepika to take off her shoes because she was looking taller than me. I replied that she is taller than me even without shoes.”

He says of Anushka, “I have learnt a lot from all these younger actors. I react to their acting. I feel good when I am in young company. My performance is improving after working with these youngsters. I can only say bhagwan ka ashirwad hai that I get a chance to work with these youngsters.”

Which begs the question — how does he keep young?
“There is no fixed regimen for fitness,” he replies. “When I was doing the Dard-e-Disco song (for Om Shanti Om), I used to work out. Today, I don’t do that. I feel I have good thoughts for everyone and a lot of positive attitude that keeps me fit. Of course, the only thing I do is dye my hair. I work a lot as usual. I have been working non-stop for the last 18 years. My wife Gauri tells me I see you getting up every day and working the same way as you did earlier. I feel work is my religion. I feel that if you want to progress then work should be your new religion. It is the only universal religion. It is your birthright to keep the religion to which you were born but one must also consider work as their religion.”

Finally, does he feel that he should retire? Shah Rukh says, “In entertainment business you never retire. You only retire when you don’t get work. It happens to everybody.”

What about Amitabh Bachchan, who is yet to retire at 66? Shah Rukh said, “He is a world class actor. If anyone wants to learn anything about entertainment, he should see the life of Amitabh Bachchan. He is a unique person.”

Have you ever stopped to think if the most ordinary, uninteresting, unobtrusive man you might see on the road or around you might have a love story to tell?

Maybe not! How can an ordinary man have a breathtaking, goose flesh igniting, awe inspiring love story of all things to tell?

But guess what - love does not differentiate between the ordinary and exceptional, the uninteresting and interesting, the unattractive and attractive. Because love knows no distinction. It can happen to anyone and once it does it engulfs us into it completely and gives us those miraculous experiences that only love can yield.

This is what happened to Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh Khan) - a simple, clean hearted, honest man working for Punjab Power, leading a humdrum life, when he meets his total opposite and finds love in the flamboyant, fun-loving, vivacious - Taani (Anushka Sharma) for whom the whole world is her canvas and she paints her own life with the colours of rainbow all until unforeseen circumstances changes it all and brings them together.

What follows is a journey filled with laughter, tears, joy, pain, music, dance and a lot of love. A journey that makes us believe that there is an extraordinary love story in every ordinary jodi.
