Shahrukh Khan Misses The Life Of A Theatre Artiste

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, has been named global brand ambassador of Kingdom of Dreams, an entertainment arena in Gurgaon, which will showcase Bollywood Musicals and boasts of an elaborate arts and food boulevard. Playing now at the theater is Zangoora-The Gypsy Prince, a lavish musical set to the music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and with a story by Javed Akhtar. The actor was at the launch of this Nautanki Mahal and reminisces about the days he acted in plays in Delhi. He says he would love to go back on stage to perform in front of a live audience.
“I started my career from theatre and later went on to acting in television and then films. We used to perform plays at Kamani Auditorium, which was at that time considered to be one of the biggest theatres. If given a chance I would love to go back to the stage and perform in front of a live audience. I love to interact with people.”

He added: “I would just like to say that whatever we do in theatre, it should not be considered secondary or taken lightly. We need to give at least six to seven months and produce a quality product. In the West, films actors completely dedicate themselves to theatre whenever they get a chance to perform. We need to have the same dedication here also.”

Who knows, we might see King Khan back in his theatre avatar one day.

SRK a symbol of religious unity: Vienna

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is seen as an icon of religious unity by many the world over and experts will deliberate upon the topic at a three-day conference from Thursday at Vienna University.

Titled Shah Rukh Khan and Global Bollywood, the meet will not be attended by the superstar himself, but he has said he feels humbled by the endeavour. Some 40 speakers from universities around the world will discuss a wide range of topics revolving around Shah Rukh who is seen as a global cultural phenomenon.

The actor is lauded for playing both Hindu and Muslim characters on screen.

Shah Rukh, who is shooting round the clock for Ra.One, said in an e-mail forwarded by Karuna Badwal, executive assistant at his company Red Chillies Entertainment, that he has prior commitments but sends his very best wishes.

Adelheid Hermann-Pfandt, professor of Religious Studies at Germany's University of Marburg, told IANS: "One of the most remarkable features of Indian cinema is its inter-religious character."

Like many other Europeans, Hermann-Pfandt first experienced the inter-religious oneness of god through a Shah Rukh film.

Titled And I Love Hinduism Also, Shah Rukh Khan: A Muslim Voice for Inter-religious Peace in India, Hermann-Pfandt's talk will look at the importance of a public role model like Shah Rukh in the promotion of ideas of unity among human beings within India and abroad.

Jaspreet Gill from Canada's York University finds My Name Is Khan remarkable for its positive portrayal of practising Muslims.

Bollywood is in the habit of portraying Muslims mostly as stock characters and famous for the cinematic othering of muslims either by demonising them, showing them as exotic or marginalised. In My Name Is Khan, Shah Rukh's character speaks refreshingly of the global relevance of tolerance and understanding of the other, points out Gill.

"This positive imaging has led to the film playing to packed theatres in Pakistan which bodes well for an emerging solidarity between India and Pakistan," adds Gill who will elaborate on Shah Rukh's reinvention of the Muslim hero in My Name Is Khan.

Huma Dar from Berkeley's University of California sees the film, which was directed by Karan Johar, as a sincere effort to show the plight of those deemed dispensable, less grievable, more precarious, inherently threatening in an era of both permanent wars and undeclared wars on other people, practices, faiths, traditions and languages.

Just because Muslim artists in Mumbai no longer take on Hindu names, it might be tempting to conclude that the playing field is level. But the kerfuffle around the film My Name Is Khan is ample evidence that the Muslim name carries a bonus as well as an onus and the two are intimately intertwined, Dar declares.

In Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (K3G), Arno Krimmer sees many traits of Lord Rama or the ideal man. This similarity between K3G and the epic Ramayana deserves notice by critics, scholars and audiences alike, argues Krimmer, an Austrian filmmaker who is the first foreign Resident Faculty at Pune's Film and Television Institute of India where he taught screenplay writing.

London-based filmmaker Nasreen Munni Kabir will kick-start the conference with a paper on The Worlds of Shah Rukh Khan at the 19th century building of Vienna's Museum of Ethnology, near the imperial palace. Kabir produced the documentary The Inner and the Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan in 2004.

Participants include Rajinder Dudrah, head of the Department of Drama, University of Manchester and author of The Bollywood Reader, and Ashish Rajadhyaksha from Bangalore's Centre for Studies in Culture and Society.

To the question why Shah Rukh, Professor Elke Mader, Dean Cultural and Social Anthropology Institute of Vienna University, said: "In German-speaking countries his films have developed a cult media and a very active fan culture. Khan's capacity to negotiate and to integrate opposites and extremes and to connect with diverse audiences worldwide as well as his art of expressing emotions make him not only a superstar but a very significant figure in times of global mediascapes and cultural flows."

Anna Mandel, a German sculpture and painter, will exhibit from her work titled Sentiment-SRK, an on-going project that includes the painting of 108 faces of the superstar.

Yet another exhibition will display the rich memorabilia collected over time particularly by ardent Shah Rukh fans like Maria-Stella Hinterndorfer.

The conference will include two screenings - Kesariya Balam, Austria's first Bollywood style film directed by Sandeep Kumar and Mr Khan Vienna Loves You, a documentary on hardcore Shah Rukh fans in Vienna by Ali Hasnain, a 24-year-old graduate of Vienna's School for Audio Engineering.

Shahrukh in Yash Raj’s next!

According to the latest tabloids reports, one of the most successful production house in Bollywood, Yash Raj Films are all set to rope in superstar Shahrukh Khan for their next venture.

Apparently, the production house decided to go back to its lucky mascot SRK as almost all their recent projects have bombed at the box office and they desperately want a hit.

The last successful project YRF and SRK did together was ‘Veer Zaara’ in 2004. Though, almost all the films with SRK turned into huge success, 2008’s 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' failed to add another feather in YRF’s hat.

As per sources, Yash Raj is not just planning to rope in the superstar SRK but has already offered ‘Dhoom 3’ to Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan.

However, Aamir still has to read the script before making his decision. He will start reading the script around Oct. 15.

As per sources familiar with the matter, Aditya Chopra is writing the script along with Yash Chopra
for the film with SRK.

However, it’s not yet decided whether Aditya or Yash will be directing the superstar in the upcoming film.

“YRF is yet to decide who will direct the Shah Rukh starrer. SRK has very good relations with both, Yashji and Aditya. He has equal faith in both of them. They are like family to him,” revealed a source.

Reportedly, this film with SRK will go on floors in early 2011.

Despite tabloids rumors Yash Raj Films are maintaining their silence on all the reports circulating in the media.

“We are still working on our slate for the coming year and will make our announcements at the appropriate time on the finalization of our projects,” said YRF spokesman when contacted for comment.

Meanwhile, reports are suggesting, many agencies have been alerted to start looking for beautiful faces and send to YRF studios for auditions.

SRK function fails to take off

A function to be attended by Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan has to be called off at the last minute in south Delhi today as organisers "failed" to take prior permission, which led to protests by his fans and a lathicharge by the police.

The cancellation of the function organised at Manoranjan Park in Kalindi Kunj resulted in some tension there and police had to resort to lathicharge to disperse a crowd of around 1,000 people who have assembled there.

The organisers of the function had invited Shahrukh Khan and some other stars for the inauguration of ' Delhi I Ride' programme, a senior police official said.

"They did not take the permission to organise the programme from the Licencing Branch. So we went there and did not allow the function to be held," the official said.

The organisers could not be contacted for their version.

Commonwealth Games 2010: Shahrukh Khan speaks out

Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan has come to the rescue of the Commonwealth games officials citing that it is, indeed, difficult to create a stadium and hence, he respects the work done, hitherto.

Taking to twitter, he writes, “i hope we indians realize how difficult it is to build stadiums & respect & so easy to break monuments & disrespect each others beliefs”. His comment, of course, takes a pot shot at the Ayodhya Babri Masjid verdict.

Besides, SRK, a few other celebs have voiced their concern for the CWG as well. From Arjun Rampal to Dia Mirza to Kunal Kapoor to the noodle strapped Mandira Bedi, all have done their bid at criticizing the govt. and the officials concerned.

For instance, one Shilpa Shetty lashes out, “News that things are falling apart a week before the games begin and how! Athletes are pulling out due to health and safety concerns…just makes me cringe. This could have been a great opportunity to make our country proud. Unfortunately CWG hasn’t brought us the pride and honour we thought it would.”

However, unlike others, SRK has stayed away from censuring the govt. and instead chose to respect their dilemma.

There had been a lot of buzz speculating about which biggie will be sitting on the hot seat with Amitabh Bachchan in 'Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 4'.

Talking about the special episode, sources close to the show stated, “The channel is very keen to have an episode that would have the two hosts of KBC face to face. They have approached SRK to be a celebrity contestant who will be quizzed by Amitabh. The channel knows that this is what will give them a huge buzz. SRK is undecided.”

“He has good relations with the channel as well as the makers of the show, so it is hugely being anticipated that he might give a nod for this special episode. Everyone has their fingers crossed,” says a highly placed source close to the developments of the show.

Shahrukh Khan: German blood in Ra. One

SRK has got the sizzling Indian babe Kareena Kapoor as one of the sexiest celluloid mothers ever; he even roped in Akon to sing one of his songs and now the so-called King Khan has, reportedly, roped in the famed German composer Hans Zimmer who has worked on mega hit film like Leonardo’s Inception, Johnny Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean, The Da Vinci Code, The Dark Knight, Sherlock Holmes, The Lion King, Gladiator and even The Last Samurai.

This will be Zimmer’s first tryst with Bollywood who has, hitherto, refused all offers from the B-town to compose for them. Mumbai Mirror reports, “Shah Rukh has roped in a lot of foreign technicians for his sci-fi flick. He wants the film to be of international standards. It was his director Anubhav Sinha who suggested Hans Zimmer’s name for the background score. Anubhav took the help of his contacts to arrange for a meeting between Hans and SRK. With time, Hans agreed to come on board.”

Shahrukh, of course, is extremely bouncy and animated about his home production ‘Ra. One’ in which he, for the first time, steps into the skin of a super hero. So, will Zimmer add spark to the film? We would need to wait to see that…..But, no doubt, Ra. One is getting bigger and better…

God not in man-made monuments: tweets SRK

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan believes that God resides in man's heart and not in man-made monuments for 'Him'.

"Allah, God, Bhagwan in whichever name we pray to the supreme power, resides in man's heart, not in man-made houses
for Him," SRK wrote on microblogging site Twitter.

His comments come ahead of the Ram Janmabhoomi- Babri Masjid verdict, which has been deferred by a week with Supreme Court deciding to hear the plea for postponement on September 28.

"I mean first our beliefs should take seed and grow in our hearts and then only we should manifest that in places of prayer and God," the actor
tweeted.

"I hope we Indians realise how difficult it is to build stadiums and respect and so easy to break monuments and disrespect each others beliefs," he added.

Several Bollywood personalities including Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar and Sajid Khan have come ahead and appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony in view of the impending judgement.

Shahrukh Khan ropes in best talents for 'Ra.One'

Superstar Shahrukh Khan seems hell-bent to make his home production Ra.One a sci-fi thriller extraordinaire, at a par with the ones that Hollywood makes.

After roping in the best hands and minds at stunts and special effects, the King Khan is learnt to have signed the world renowned German composer Hans Zimmer to compose the background score of the film.

Zimmer has composed music for films like Gladiator, Pirates of The Caribbean series, The Da Vinci Code, The Dark Knight and Inception. Considering Zimmer’s credentials, his inclusion in Ra.One, if true, is indeed a big catch for SRK.

We hear that it was director Anubhav Sinha who suggested signing up Zimmer for the film. Though the buzz is that Zimmer has been paid a whopping amount for coming aboard, there’s no official confirmation yet of this.

SRK has already made Akon sing a song for Ra.One. Now, with Zimmer in crew he has certainly turned a new page.

Bhansali - SRK clash again

Recall the most discussed clash in Diwali 2007. I am talking about Shah Rukh Khan's OM SHANTI OM and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's SAAWARIYA. Three years later, Bhansali and SRK are expected to clash again. Jee haan, Bhansali's new film GUZAARISH is slated for release on 19th November and actor-director Makrand Deshpande's new film SHAHRUKH BOLA KHOOBSURAT HAIN TU has been confirmed for this date as well. Well, SRK doesn't have a full-fledged role in the film, but the actor makes a cameo appearance nonetheless, besides having his name in the film's title.

In fact, the title value of the film is so strong [SHAHRUKH BOLA KHOOBSURAT HAIN TU], it should attract instant attention when the promotion begins. What say?

SRK-Gauri's 'Dabangg' time

All of the world's watching Salman Khan's blockbuster 'Dabangg' and Shah Rukh Khan's family is no different. It seems that SRK and wife Gauri both had special screenings of 'Dabangg' organised at Mannat, their home in Mumbai.

Apparently, SRK himself requested the first screening - no, he didn't call up Salman, or even his brother Arbaaz Khan, who produced 'Dabangg'. He wrote to the production company Ashtavinayak to organise a screening. But of course producer Arbaaz's permission was required for it, which he gladly gave.

Then it was Gauri's turn. We hear SRK's biwi called up Arbaaz's wife Malaika Arora Khan to organise a screening for her kids Aryan and Suhana. Once again, Arbaaz organised it.

Wonder what SRK and family thought of Chulbul Pandey and family? Will SRK get in touch with Sallu to share his feedback, even after that comment from the 'Dabangg' star that the two can never get together? Watch this space for updates.

Weight-loss was a joke: Shahrukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri have been in Delhi for the last two days. Yesterday, he made an appearance in Gurgaon.

But what was he doing on Day 1 of his visit? "He landed early morning on Saturday, met his father-in-law, who recently had angioplasty, and then went to the hospital to get a check up. Shah Rukh went to Escorts because Dr Seth (who treated Mr Chhiba, his father-in-law) suggested both he and Gauri also get a check up," informs a source.

Was it because SRK has lost a lot of weight, or because Gauri was also not so fit some weeks ago? "No, it was just a normal check up that the doctor recommended. The reports are fine.

He's fit, and so is Gauri," adds our source. What else did he do the whole day? "He didn't go anywhere. He was at Gauri's uncle's home, resting and chatting with family members." SRK also had dinner with a small group of friends. On Saturday night, Shah Rukh wrote online, "In delhi...was whole day at escorts doing yearly tests...seems i passed with flying colours..A** and a smiley the marks my kids get."

But what was it about Khan's engagement ring slipping off his finger – earlier this month, he'd written: "God need to feed my face more than i have been. today nearly slipped and fell through my wedding ring.. ha ha" (sic).

Many thought he has some serious weight-loss problem. "It was a joke. Khan, in a telephonic conversation with Amitabh Bachchan, had joked, 'I have lost so much weight ki main toh apni engagement ring ke andar se nikal sakta hoon,'" clears the source.

So, what's SRK's equation with the Big B 'really' like – there were rumours of them not getting along but now they seem to be discussing health issues over the phone... "See, whatever the situation may be, they do talk for sure. Plus, Shah Rukh is very particular about respecting elders, so he's very polite. But mostly, the conversations are over the phone, but yes, they do keep tal king," states the source.

The superstar, who is married to Gauri and has two children - son Aryan and daughter Suhana, also urged fans to give a hug to their fathers at least once a week.

SRK to do a musical!

Shah Rukh Khan is set to do a Broadway-style, big budget Indian musical, the second to be attempted here after the City of Dreams.

Plans to make SRK's musical global are also being contemplated. However, the Bollywood Badshah will only do a cameo which will have a crucial impact on the plot. The event management company that is making this musical said a full-fledged publicity plan is being devised cashing in on SRK's presence in the show as this is now its USP.

Getting Shah Rukh on board wasn't easy. Help of the Morani brothers, with whom the actor has worked for many years, was taken; a meeting set up, and SRK got into the nitty-gritty of the show. He took time to get convinced because he wanted to be sure that the project is actually big. Anticipations on his role are high. But as of now, everything is hush-hush.

Shahrukh Khan's pat for wrestler Sushil Kumar

That Shahrukh Khan is a sports freak is common knowledge. Not just cricket, hockey, or football, the superstar keeps a tab on other sports as well.

The recent win of Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar at World Wrestling Championship in Moscow has made SRK proud. Sushil from Najafgarh near Delhi has created history by becoming the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at a senior world championship.

SRK's suits in Ra.One worth a 100 crore

We guess he’s called King Khan for a reason. Everything about superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s next film Ra.One, which is touted to be one of the most expensive Hindi films ever, is being described as ‘king size’, be it action, music or budget.

And just when the media was digesting news that his superhero rubber suit in the movie will cost Rs 1 crore, SRK clarifies the real cost of the suit is much, much more. Says Khan, “I keep reading in the papers that my costume is a million rupee costume. But it’s actually a million dollar costume — that’s four-and-a-half crore rupees per costume. And there’s not one costume, there are 20 such!”

Ra.OneThat puts the cost of just the costumes of the movie at Rs 100 crore, which reads like an unlikely figure. Khan carelessly adds that he was just talking about his character, G One’s costumes. “There are costumes for Ra.One’s character too!”

Khan also goes on to liken his costumes to that of Spiderman, “Like the Spiderman suit, my costumes are specialised. They are not for style – you can’t wear them to parties. But yeah, you could probably wear G.One’s designer T-shirts."

But when asked about the budget of the movie, Khan plays it down by shifting focus instead on to the ‘simple’ story of the movie, “Ra.One is a very real film, although it is in the genre of superhero-meets-genie in a bottle. I have tried not to keep it over-the-top or too ‘dialoguey’. It has real situations and authentic dialogue.”

Although he remains tight-lipped about the exact storyline of the movie, Khan gives us a sneak peak, “I play a very genuine South Indian character in the movie. I’ve been thinking about the poster of the movie and I think the film can be put in one line as ‘Every father wants to be a hero to his son’.

“So even though the film is about a superhero, it is also a family film,” he insists. “Kareena (Kapoor) is my wife in the movie, we have a kid and we are a regular family – there is a lot of comedy, happiness and bonding, until all hell breaks loose. And then, there is action, which you hopefully have never seen before, at least in an Indian movie.” We will soon find out.

Shahrukh Khan appeals for peace

Shahrukh Khan has also expressed his concern over the issue of recent attacks lately in media. He along with others stars in Tinsel town have refused to celebrate Eid instead they are paying homage and appeal for peace.

SRK recently while addressing to media said that such movements hopefully change the scenario. Being a Muslim he said that Islam doesn’t allow anybody to kill innocent people.

Katrina Kaif, Irrfan Khan, Zayed Khan, Shabana Azmi, Farhan Akhtar, Javed Akhtar would be wearing black arm bands.

Shahrukh Khan ponders over adding a cape to his RA-One superhero costume

To cape Shah Rukh Khan or not, seems to be of more importance than saving the world for the RA.One unit for now.

SRK plays a superhero called G.One fighting Arjun Rampal who plays the villain in the film.

The world's most popular superheroes sport capes (read: Superman and Batman). Khan realises this and is toying with the idea of adding one to his costume.

Reveals a source, "He will wear a blue suit. It's a shade that's a little different than the blue Superman wears.

However, Shah Rukh hasn't decided if the suit should have a cape, just yet. In all probability, that decision will be taken at the last minute."

If the superstar does decide to go with the cape, it will be added digitally. Adds our source, "The cape will be fixed on by the VFX team at a later stage.

The body suit will enhance SRK's muscles and his lean torso. It's made to fit to his frame."

While a vast majority of superheroes do not wear capes, the garment is still closely associated with them, likely because two of the most widely-recognised superheroes, Batman and Superman, wear capes. In fact, police officers in Batman's home of Gotham City have used the word 'cape' as a shorthand for all superheroes and costumed crimefighters.

What is Shahrukh Khan trying to sell his son?

To tackle his talented kids of gen next, the superstar father has upgraded his parenting skills. Shahrukh Khan not only sells his films just by his name, he also cooks up stories for his kids.

Shahrukh has got a sherwani made for his son Aryan. After all, it’s Eid. But, the young lad isn’t gung ho about wearing the traditional attire. So, the father came up with a unique idea to convince his son to wear the sherwani. He tried to sell an idea to Aryan by reminding him of Keanu Reeves doing stunts wearing a long black jacket in ‘Matrix’.

“Made sherwani for Aryan and myself... selling him the concept of sherwani as the garb of Neo from Matrix. Hope he buys it and wears it on Eid,” tweets SRK.

Isn’t he a fantastic dad!

Daddy SRK at his best

Shahrukh Khan is a perfect family man and a doting father. He shares a very special bonding with his two children, Aryan and Suhana.

Shahrukh likes spending time with kids and the children also enjoy being pampered by their father.

Recently, the actor was shooting for a commercial, which required him to act with a four-year-old girl.As kids are most difficult to shoot with, Shahrukh Khan had to play with her for hours and mend her to complete the commercial properly.

SRK as babysitter
Shahrukh was shooting a commercial with a four-year-old baby girl in Mumbai. She was little mischievous and refused to deliver the shot as required. She was extremely cranky and was misbehaving constantly.

Although her parents were present there, SRK went up to her and started playing with her. He gave her a box of chocolates, and sat and spoke with her till she calmed down.

Of course, what followed was an hour-long mischief and games session between the girl and SRK, who was in splits most of the time.

Apparently, Shahrukh decided to make a painting just for this kid when all of a sudden she was ready to shoot with King Khan. The shoot was wrapped up by the end of the day and the girl clicked a lot of pictures with the actor.

'Ra.One' for kids
Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer, ‘Ra.One’ is a superhero film and Shahrukh Khan wanted to dedicate the film to his children, Aryan and Suhana who likes superhero flicks and always wanted their father to portray the role of a superhero.

The film is directed by Anubhav Sinha and Shahrukh played the character called ‘Jeeva’, who can solidify electricity. International pop singer Akon has given his voice for one of the songs in the film.

Speaking at a press conference, Shahrukh says, "It's a kind of film, a genre we guys haven't tried at 'Red Chilies'. It's a new thing for all of us, so we are giving it our best shot. Hopefully, we will be able to do what we are set out to do. I am doing it for my kids."

Sharukh tweets: All players must go in a pool, Ganguly agrees

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Sourav Ganguly is in complete agreement with team owner and Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan's view that all the players should go into a pool ahead of the fourth season of the Indian Premier League.

The superstar tweeted yesterday: "new ipl rules a bit confusing. two new teams added (good). all players should go into pool to make it fair for everyone. simple & straight."

Ganguly feels that in his capacity as team owner, Shah Rukh has every right to express his view. "He has invested in the team for the past three years. Unfortunately, the Kolkata Knight Riders were not very successful. Obviously, Shah Rukh has every right to go in for a new squad. And he has rightly called for all the players to be auctioned again.

Ganguly was also of the view that no franchisee would invest $4.5 million to retain four top players. "It is a ridiculous thought. Why would team owners exhaust such a huge amount for just four players? It is not going to happen," Ganguly said.

Meanwhile, on the prospect of him playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders again, he said: "You never know. Shah Rukh might just pick me in the auction. Any other team in mind? "It is too premature to speak about it, to be honest. I really don't know what will happen in the future. Currently, I have a commentary assignment (CLT20)and I am pretty excited about it," Ganguly said.

Did SRK attend Sallu’s screening?

Salman surprised everyone when he spoke in favour of Shahrukh during IPL controversy pertaining to Pakistan team and from sometime now it has also been observed that Salman does not react that angrily how he use to earlier with the mere mention of King Khan’s name.

Latest, we hear that Shahrukh was also spotted along with his wife Gauri Khan in the vicinity of Dabangg’s special screening theater. If sources are to be believed that a group of photographers were waiting for the photo opportunity after the film as it was attended mostly by stars. When film got over at 2 am and the stars started coming out one of the photographer spotted Shahrukh and his wife in the vicinity. However, they drove off quickly before anyone could have clicked them.

The two had an ugly showdown in Katrina Kaif's B'day party but seemingly they have now secretly patched up.

Shahrukh Khan speaks on Quran burning issue in USA

Shahrukh Khan one of the most proactive moderate Muslims of India had a tough time answering a question which a reporter asked him. Shahrukh Khan who is almost always the wittiest best and never gives media any chance to write against him was in bad condition when asked about Quran burning issue which is going on in US right now.

Recently, Terry Jones, pastor of the Florida Church (US), issued a statement saying that the church will burn a Quran, The Holy Book of Muslims, on coming September 11 to mark the anniversary of 9/11 attacks. Such a statement has irked Muslims all over the world and various US embassies present around the world in Islamic countries have condemned the idea.

In an interview with a US National daily, Jones said – “We realize that this action would indeed offend people, offend the Muslims. I am offended when they (Muslims) burn the United States flag. I am offended when they burn the Bible. But we feel that the message that we are trying to send is much more important than people being offended."

Jones said Muslims are welcomed in the United States, if they observe the Constitution and don't try to impose Sharia law, or any other Muslim law. The message, he said, is directed toward the "radical element of Islam."

"Our message is very clear," he said. "It is not to the moderate Muslim. Our message is not a message of hate. Our message is a message of warning to the radical element of Islam, and I think what we see right now around the globe provides exactly what we're talking about," he added.

And recently when Shahrukh was back from London a reporter asked him about the whole story to which he said that however I have always said that it is their country so let them do whatever they want to and instead we should think about being Indian first, but at the same time I would say that doing such things will change the perception of US in people’s minds people will not again think about US being an open nation rather they will think that it is a narrow minded Christian centric country.

Shahrukh Khan ignores Farah Khan

Shahrukh Khan recently paid visit to his new friend in Bollywood on the sets of Master Chef, Akshay Kumar in Film city. SRK however, blatantly ignored Farah Khan by not meeting her on the sets of Tees Maar Khan put up close to Master Chef set it.

Shahrukh was delighted to have a look over the set which he totally adored. He also went ahead to discuss about a producing a movie along with Akshay where both former and latter don the lead roles. In the midst of all this, he intentionally chose not to see his once a close friend Farah.

Nevertheless, Salman Khan is heard to have met Farah at the same time on the sets. Interestingly, Salman would be doing a cameo in one of the songs featured on Akshay and Katrina.

We wonder how far was the SRK genuine when he wished Farah good luck for Tees Maar Khan or was it Akki’s sake considering he didn’t bother to show up at Farah’s sets located in the vicinity. Only future will unfold the mystery.

Barry John is a great teacher, says Shahrukh Khan

Shahrukh Khan on his guru...
“The days when I was doing theatre in Delhi was an interesting time. Barry (John) was a great support when I was doing theatre in his group. Barry is a great teacher and above all, he is a great human being. I have learnt so much from him both on stage and off it. I have always remained indebted to everybody with whom I have come in contact with at any point in my life. And that includes Barry, who’ll always have a special space in my life. Most of my friends even now laugh at me that I have become a film star. Besides the fact that I work hard, God’s blessings, and all those people who have been kind (like Barry) to me…”

Theatre director Barry John on his most famous student
“There are a lot of factors that go into the making when you are trying to make the cut in Bollywood —talent, perseverance, belief in yourself, a never-give-up-attitude and of course, a bit of luck. Shah Rukh had the perfect combination of all of them. Yes, he is my most famous student and I am known all over as somebody who taught acting to him. But I won’t take credit for that as I believe that everything that you do is a learning process. If you look at Shah Rukh’s life closely, it is the stuff of what dreams are made of. Shah Rukh’s life is a like a fairy tale — there’s tragedy, loss, comedy and a success that none has seen so far. He was there in the right place at the right time, and worked his way up to the top without anyone there to push him. This is true that he is the reason why so many believe that they can make it in Bollywood, even if they are not related to any big-shot in Bollywood. Nobody can make anybody. Shah Rukh was destined to be a somebody, and he’s also one of the most intelligent persons that I have come across. I am so proud of him like the rest of the country.”

Salman and SRK avoid coming face-to-face

Yesterday everyone shooting in and around Film City were waiting with bated breath to see what would happen when Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan came face-to-face.

The once-upon-a-time friends were shooting on sets next to each other.

While Salman was shooting for a film, SRK was there for a commercial. Surprisingly, they managed to not cross each other's paths all day.

Perhaps SRK used his super powers from RA.One to turn invisible while Salman wore his Chulbul Pandey ensemble to avoid being recognised. Tee hee.

I have a huge amount of respect for Aamir and Salman, says Shahrukh Khan

So what if Shah Rukh Khan isn't starring in KJo's new release (he's not even doing a cameo or a hot item number this time), but he's there in spirit.

And in the promotions too. After all, he's family, na? Yeah, during a promotional interview of We Are Family, with Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal, SRK casually blended in with the team and started talking about the movie, leaving all the viewers stunned and amused. Of course, the perfect moment was when he commented on the two other Khans. He said, "I have a huge amount of respect for Aamir and Salman.

I think they're wonderful. I think they're great stars, I know them personally and they're great human beings. And they're much bigger stars than I can ever be. I hope one day I can be like them in terms of work." Bravo, SRK, bravo! Over to you Sallu, c'mon and give us a quick dabangg reply. While Aamir can start pondering already...

Will not sell KKR to make a fast buck: Shahrukh Khan

Badshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan has no intention of selling his stake in his IPL cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. In a rare interview with CNBC-TV18, Khan spells out the business plans for his company Red Chillies Entertainment.

Below is a verbatim transcript of his interview with CNBC-TV18's Swati Khandelwal.

Shahrukh Khan, Actor

Excerpts from Reporter's Diary on CNBC-TV18 Watch the full show »

Q: What are your plans for Red Chillies?

A: We started very small, but lately I have started thinking that I would go a little big in terms of film production at least. So far we have done normally at any good time one or maybe the second film kind of starting once we are finishing the first one. We have a bit of television going, we have advertising going, we have a good VFX unit. So we are in a way technologically a little advanced as far as the production side is concerned.

But creativity requires a lot of time as to what story content has to be. But this year we have set up a new office now. We have all the youngsters who have grown with the company who are all I guess itching to get into cinema, make films. I think now I feel the need to start making 4-5 films. When you make 4-5 films, the company has always run on ‘no profit, no loss’ kind of criteria to start off. If the film does well good but at least we don’t try to lose money.

But now with 5 films on the floor yes it will become a little unaffordable. But public, no. I think I am too busy with the creative aspects to really get into business in such a big way. But if I have guys in the office who would like to do it, it's their company, they can take it public.

Q: How big is the company at this point in time and how much investments have already gone into it?

A: It's got a very big heart. We have been working on it for what, around 7-8 years now, about 9 years we have been making films. We have made about 9 to 10 films. Some of them good, some of them fantastic, some of them pathetic.

A lot of investment has gone in. I don't know the exact figures. But what we have tried to do is we have never borrowed money. The money is essentially brought in perhaps sometimes personally and then we work towards making sure it is returned. So it is kind of debt free. If that makes any sense, I keep hearing people saying companies are good when they are debt free. So we don’t have any loans or debts. Everything that is invested in the company is personal and then been earned back as the years have gone by.

Q: Another company, KKR, the entity that’s doing reasonably good now, what's the plan really there? We were hearing about a possible stake sell, you may look at raising money through stake sell in that company. Is that true? What do you have to say on that?

A: I don’t know every time our team loses a match they say I am selling the company. So it has got nothing to do with the cricket part of it as far as the company is concerned.

We have to wait for the rules, what's happening now. There is a lot of unknown right now. So on the business front it is very clear KKR is owned by us, myself and Jay (Jay Mehta,) and Juhi (Juhi Chawla Mehta). We will keep it. We haven’t really sat down ever and thought of - I keep reading that we are selling our stake. But I have never really seriously ventured or thought about it.

If I ever do it then it would be not dumb money, it would be strategic money. I would like to do it with a sporting kind of a partner who knows more about sports instead of just making a fast buck. That's not what we are in the business in KKR for.

Why is Shahrukh Khan upset?

Being an aspiring soccer player although destiny had something else in store for him, Shahrukh Khan's heart still lies in sports. So, the latest controversies hovering over sports arena be it Indian Premiere League or match fixing or no ball issue, all such talks have upset King Khan. And why not, when SRK worships sports as much as films.

SRK takes his personal dilemma as far as his Knight Riders are concerned as an example to prove how the image of sports and sportsmen are ruined at the cost of filling spaces in the newspaper. He went on to add that for if IPL would have been fake, then he would have tried his level best to make his team win each time when in fact it has lost.

He also made a special mention of how media puts down the sportsmen's sportsmanship if they don't perform well.
