Shah Rukh down with viral fever

King Khan is ailing for the past few days and has been advised bed rest by his doctors. But inspite of that Shah Rukh has been working round the clock.

Over the weekend he was in Pune attending some private affairs and once back at home he met up with Mumbai’s Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak who visited Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow Mannat at Bandra to enquire about the actor’s alleged encroachment of public space.

And late Friday night he was spotted at a magazine launch party with his wife and business tycoon Lakshmi Mittal.

For SRK...Only the Best will Do

Balaji has postponed their Global Indian TV Honours to next year because they couldn't get the best hotels for SRK and their starry guests.

Shobha and Ekta Kapoor are sparing no efforts to ensure that the first ever Balaji awards function is grand. The Kapoor women want the best of everything for their event.

Even if that means postponing the function itself. And that's exactly what they've done when they realised they couldn't get the best of hotels for their starry guests.

A source from Balaji admits, "The Balaji awards have been postponed. It'll now be held around January 25. We decided to change the date because no A-class hotels are available in December in Dubai because of New Year's eve. Besides, the Dubai Shopping Festival starts after January 24 and Balaji is planning to rope in big sponsors at the time."

Ekta wanted Shah Rukh to perform at the event, and even though Shah Rukh finally agreed to perform on December 20, Balaji changed their plans because they wanted King Khan to stay in the lap of luxury, and they could not provide him that.

Our source adds, "Shah Rukh has been extremely accommodating so we want to make sure that we give him the best of facilities. He's been given a new set of dates and he has to get back on that."

Shobha Kapoor says, "Shah Rukh will be performing at the event. We are working out the dates. His dates have never been an issue. He's been very accommodating but it's more practical for us to have the awards in late January or early February. There are logistical and location problems. It's Eid during the end of December and New Year's so good locations and hotels are difficult to find. We are still working on the dates. Most we will hold the awards after January 24."

The Balaji source adds, "The awards called the Global Indian TV Honours will be held at Abu Dhabi. Ekta wants all her big stars to perform. Talks are also on with big Bolly stars. Ekta wants this to be the biggest and the best TV awards."

Starry Starry Night...

Power couples to say the least, stepped out on Friday night at separate parties in the city of Mumbai and were in the spotlight.

Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan,Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan and Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar.

Shah Rukh made an entry around 2 am with none other than London-based billionaire, Lakshmi Niwas Mittal at a Juhu party. Whilst Mittal left in half an hour, SRK who escorted him out, stayed on with wife Gauri and friends and trooped out only at 3 am.

Hrithik, sporting a goatee, made a public appearance after a considerable period of time, to support wife Sussanne’s endeavour as an interior designer. And, of course, his presence caused a frenzy. Now that Jodhaa-Akbar, his royal saga, is readying for release, the superhero will be sighted more often.

Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar were at the same do as Hrithik, and even though the master blaster may have made a measly 21 at what was possibly his last game at Wankhede in the recent India vs Australia ODI, he scored big time here. Just a thought... what’s with SRK, Hrithik and Sachin walking around at glam dos dressed so casually?

Whatever happened to highbrow fashion? Or are they taking casual chic a tad too far? Well, whatever it is, all three were definitely in the partying spotlight!

And of course partying with Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan were Karan Johar, Bhavna and Chunky Panday, Sunny and Anu Dewan, Sharmilla Khanna, Yash and Avanti Birla, Rukshana Eisa, who looked stunning, Manish Malhotra (after working so very hard at the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week) ... so many beautiful people were there.

A fashion show had models strutting their stuff in bikinis, and it was different, to say the least. It was eye-catching for some and an eye sore for others. Notoriety is cool, ain’t it?

Amongst the stars present to see a young Indian team confidently trounce the Aussies in the Twenty20 match at the Brabourne Stadium Mumbai Saturday, October 20, were Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Raveena Tandon and of curse debutant Deepika Padukone who got a special invite for the match from Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

If Dhoni requests, how can Deepika not accede? Dhoni had wanted Om Shanti Om girl Deepika Padukone to come and watch his boys take on Australia. And the beautiful girl did come. She also had her star in the film Shah Rukh Khan for company. Shah Ruh had gone to Johannesburg to cheer for India in the final against Pakistan.

Perhaps he is India's lucky mascot whenever they play Twenty20. King Khan and petit Padukone had some serious company in the form of Priyanka Vadhera and husband Robert in the VIP Box.

Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan with 10-year-old son Aryan watched the Indian team quickly pile up runs to outdo the Australian total of 166.
