After the global musical successes of 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' and 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna', Sony Music Entertainment (India), the largest multinational and third largest music company in India, is proud to release the soundtrack of one of this year’s most highly anticipated Indian motion pictures, 'My Name is Khan', an epic romantic drama with Global appeal.

Continuing to redefine rules of music marketing, Sony Music Entertainment (India) is again at the forefront of creating a unique and scintillating musical experience for the global South Asian Diaspora and mainstream listeners alike.

'My Name is Khan', is directed by Karan Johar and reunites megastar Shah Rukh Khan – named by Time magazine as “the world’s biggest movie star” – and one of India’s finest actresses Kajol for the first time in eight years, deals with the bold subject of an unconventional hero - Rizvan Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) an Islamic man with an Asperger’s Autism Disorder - and his journey into a foreign country to win back the love of his life, as he overcomes obstacles and demonstrates humanity and love. Together the three have ruled the international box office taking Indian cinema to unsurpassed heights and 'My Name is Khan' is expected to be no exception.

The music is directed by one of India’s most accomplished musical trios, the critically acclaimed Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy who have collectively delivered some of the most hummed and danced to tracks from India, many of which are award-winning.

The musical composition of the soundtrack reflects the myriad hues of the film, interspersed with human emotions as it identifies the significance of a prevailing story of love, life, tribulations and tragedy. The Sufi flavoured music soiree consists of six songs that are soul-stirring. This ‘must hear’ album features some of the most renowned vocals across the Sub-Continent including that of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Adnan Sami, Richa Sharma, Shreya Ghoshal, and Rashid Ali, Shankar Mahadevan adding to the earthiness of tracks. Chat with Wasim Akram and charm the frenzied fans, brainstorm with Sourav Ganguly and banter with the boys, talk money for his team with the Todis and fashion for a cause with Agnimitra — all in an afternoon’s work for Shah Rukh Khan.

“It’s always lovely to be here, feels like home. I know we did not do well last time, but we promise to do better this time,” dimpled SRK before breezing out of a star hotel on Monday evening to catch a flight back home.

This after an hour-long meeting with members of the Kolkata Knight Riders team attending an ongoing camp and the team’s think-tank.

And that after close to three hours spent at the oldest cricket club in the world outside the British Isles.

It was almost business as usual around mid-day on Monday at CC&FC with KKR boys at lunch — the skipper sharing a table with the bowling consultant.

Till the wail of a siren pierced the air and an iridium silver Merc swung in. The players in black and gold sprinted to the ground. Dada sauntered out, bat in hand. The team boss — and more importantly perhaps, superstar Shah Rukh Khan — was here.

But why no (son) Aryan or (daughter) Suhana, as earlier planned? “They couldn’t come. They have school, naa,” he told Metro, slipping off the dark jacket and striding out to the middle in a black T-shirt, jeans and shades.

SRK hugged Akram, greeted Dada, shook hands with the rest of the boys and then left the pitch for a KKR vs KKR match. Curious about the rules of the tie, he was briefed by two of KKR’s key off-field men, Joy Bhattacharya and Jai Mehta. “So out is out?” asked the team owner, as his skipper took guard.

Over black coffee, “sugar separate”, and cigarettes, SRK got down to business. First up, Ashok Todi — still battling the Rizwanur Rahman death case — who hugged him, introduced him to his daughter Priyanka, 25, and got him to pose for a picture.

“We approached Shah Rukh with the proposal of a KKR-Lux Cozi tie-up for merchandise. He was very nice and very courteous. The first round of talks went well,” the Todis later said about their B-to-B chat with the Bolly Badshah.

The clamour from fans at the Ballygunge club to meet their hero was growing by the minute. When permission was granted to five kids to get up close to SRK, the grumbles from some teenagers and some mothers were audible. “What about us? Weren’t we children once?” was one pitch from a not-so-young devotee.

Soon, all schoolchildren at the club came tumbling in. “I told him ‘I love you’. He winked at me,” squealed Zaina Ahmed, a Class X student.

It was photograph-autograph time as SRK played to the galleries with book, bat and handkerchief piling up, waiting for the “hand of god”.

“I love my fans. They have made me what I am. I will always have time for them,” Shah Rukh had told Metro last week in Mumbai. On Monday, he walked the talk by patiently signing autograph after autograph, waving and smiling at his fans.

But there was more work to be done. A table with blind activist Kanchan Gaba and fashion designer Agnimitra Paul awaited him. SRK was to record on camera his best wishes for a fashion show on January 31, under the aegis of the National Association for the Blind (NAB), as he would be away in the US then.

The fashion show is being steered by NAB secretary Gaba and member Agnimitra, with the support of police commissioner (and former NAB president) Gautam Mohan Chakrabarti.

When Shah Rukh’s Merc finally rolled out followed by a BMW with Sourav at the wheel and Akram next to him, Koyel Sengupta, a second-year college student, broke into inconsolable sobs, having missed the chance to meet her hero. She will now have to make do with My Name Is Khan.

Director Karan Johar may be feeling the pressure to match box office success of '3 Idiots' with 'My Name is Khan' but actor Shah Rukh Khan says that his only intention is to make people happy.

Asked about his expectation from the film, the 'Badshah of Bollywood' said, "Everytime I release a film, I am asked the same question and I answer the same. My expectation is that everybody will like it."

"I work only so that I can make you happy. I can entertain you, I'm able to fulfil some kind of an emotional vacuum. My films are about making people happy," the 'King Khan' told reporters on the sidelines of his team Kolkata Knight Riders's conditioning camp at CC&FC ground here today.

And, the party continued at Mannat...

Hrithik Roshan turned 36 on Jan 10 and ushered his birthday in style on Saturday (Jan 9) night. The party was held at Aurus nightclub in Juhu.

It was a bash also for Farhan Akhtar, who celebrates his birthday on Jan 9.

The party was attended by many Bollywood A-listers who came to the bash directly from the Star Screen Awards.

The highlight of the party was Abhishek and Aishwarya bonding big time with Shah Rukh Khan. In fact, SRK travelled in their car (pictured above).

The party had attracted a huge crowd as many media people as well as fans gathered outside. That’s when everyone present at the party decided to shift the venue to some other place.

SRK requested them to continue partying at his residence. So at 4.000am the party’s venue shifted to Mannat. While Sussanne Roshan and Gauri Khan drove back in SRK’s car, Shah Rukh once again gave company to Abhi and Ash and drove in their car.

We are eagerly awaiting further developments in this growing closeness between junior Bachchans and Shah Rukh.

Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) principal owner Shah Rukh Khan on Monday said he hated losing and he had let down Kolkatans earlier by his team’s performance.

"I regret losing. With all honesty, I'm saying that I regret for having let down the people of Kolkata,” he said here during his visit to cheer the new players of the team.

“I don't owe them anything and they don't expect anything from me. But for the love they have showered on us, we should have done better,” he said.

"We did not go about it the right way. I think I let down the side,” he said taking failure on his inability to make the KKR as cohesive team earlier.

“I would like to take the responsibility,” he said. "Somewhere down the line, I think a lot of decisions were taken by me or I was at least part of some of it. Maybe a lot of things with lack of knowledge about how things should be done in a new format like Twenty20," the actor said.

The superstar breezed into the city Monday to meet the players at the franchise’s ongoing training camp.

“I am just here to meet the young boys. We just want to meet all of them or else we don't get a chance to meet all of them. There's lot of new Indian boys,” SRK told reporters.

He also had a discussion over the team with KKR captain Saurav Ganguly and bowling coach Wasim Akram at Calcutta Cricket & Football Club (CCFC) here.

Asked how many international players will play for KKR in IPL 3, Shah Rukh said: “The decision will be taken by 17-18. We have so many prospects. We will also get clearer picture about the availability of the international players.”

“We want to wait till the last minute so that we know who is available. Of course, Dada (Sourav Ganguly) will decide if we need to go for a player in the auction.” According to media reports, SRK will attend a get-together with his team at a city hotel before leaving Kolkata Monday night.
