Shah Rukh Khan visits Karun Chandhok

With Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the HRT F1 team garage, Hispania Racing F1 Team (HRT F1) completed their third qualifying session of its short F1 history.

A chaotic wet session ensured that the team's two drivers will start from 22nd and 23rd on the grid, just behind Alonso, Hamilton and Massa.

The skies broke 5 mins before the qualifying session commenced meaning that it would be a wet session. Both HRT F1 drivers had their first experience of qualifying in the wet with very encouraging signs. Chandhok posted a time of 1.56.299 to qualify in not only the team's best qualifying position, but his best ever position as well, in 22nd.

With the top teams taking to the track too late this means that both HRT F1 drivers will start just behind former World Champions, Alonso and Hamilton.

Karun Chandhok said, "The qualifying was good for us. I pushed early in qualifying as I could see the dark clouds and the rain becoming worse. I am very happy with the result as it is the best HRT F1 team result in our short history. I will start tomorrow's race just behind Trulli, Alonso, Hamilton and Massa. The weather was not looking good in the morning before qualifying and I was not sure if it would hold until the qualifying session as well. It didn't and that gave us our first wet experience driving the car for the first time in heavy rain. I am glad I managed to make the best of it."

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was a surprise guest and watched qualifying from HRT F1 Team F1 Team, Hispania Racing garage. Shah Rukh Khan and Chandhok are both associated with leading watch maker, Tag Heuer.

On meeting SRK at the racetrack Chandhok said, "This is definitely a surprise for me and a great one as well. I did not expect the Bollywood badshah to be here supporting me at such an early stage of my career. It was truly an honour for us to have him in our garage for qualifying. Tag Heuer have previously brought us together and it is great to meet him again. I have told him that it will be our priviledge to host him at other races as well so he has said he will bring his son with him next time. He is a great guy and definitely had the whole paddock buzzing over here."

Shah Rukh brings a touch of Bollywood

There was a touch of Bollywood at the Sepang Inter—national Circuit (SIC) when movie superstar Datuk Shah Rukh Khan made a visit here.

“This is my first time at a race track. I am flying back after this because of work. Besides, Dr Mahathir is my favourite person in the world. I met him for lunch,” he said yesterday when met at the pitlane.

The dashing actor made the quick stop-by after being invited by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Shah Rukh visited the garages of the Lotus Racing team and Hispania Racing Team (HRT). He also met up with Lotus Racing team principal Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes and HRT team driver Karun Chandhok, the sole Indian in Formula One this season.

Shah Rukh was accompanied by Bollywood actresses Manisha Lamba and Arjuna Sukhani.

Others who were with him included SIC chairman Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir and chief executive officer Razlan Razali.

Both he and Arjuna even had a go at sitting in the HRT Formula One car.

He also met Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone.

As Shah Rukh walked the pitlane, performers who were rehearsing for the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix today immediately noticed him and started shouting for his attention.

“I love you, Shah Rukh. I am your biggest fan!” yelled one fan who then proceeded to scream for his autograph.

Shah Rukh waved at them and went to the pitwall to sign some autographs.

Asked whether he would make any cameo appearances in a Formula One movie if it was ever made, Shah Rukh answered that he might try to be an engineer working at pit stops.

And when Karun quipped that he would be sending Shah Rukh the F1 2010 game, Shah Rukh gamely said: “I’d beat him at that.”

Asked whether he would return next year to catch an actual Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix, Shah Rukh replied: “Insya Allah, I will come next year.”

Known to his adoring fans as King Khan, the superstar shows no sign of flagging at the box office: his latest vehicle, My Name Is Khan, is a critical and commercial smash. Khan produces most of his movies, which has helped make him one of Bollywood's richest men, with an estimated net worth in excess of $500 million. And he has successfully fused India's two great passions — movies and cricket — by buying a cricket team in the wildly popular Indian Premier League.

Shah Rukh Khan is a special guest at Malaysian Grand Prix

Some people have large hearts. Some people can win hearts. But few can do it better than Shah Rukh Khan. Winning fans comes easy for Shah Rukh Khan and that’s why he is now on his way to Malaysia to be a special guest for the Malaysian Grand Prix, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur on 4 April.

The superstar was in Kolkata on Thursday night to cheer his Indian Premier League team, the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Deccan Chargers. A beleaguered side after finishing last in the previous year, SRK bolstered his team’s spirits and finally saw his franchisee victorious.

Shah Rukh said, “I know our team has not been doing well, but we are fighting. Every game there is an attempt to do better than the previous match. Inshallah, everything will fall into place.” And everything did fall into place as Sourav Ganguly and his boys put up a fight that had them claiming victory.

When asked if he gave any advice to his team, Shah Rukh said, “Absolutely not. I do not interfere with anything related to the game. I leave that to the experts, Dave Whatmore and Wasim Akram. If I start giving them advice on how to play the game, they will start giving me advice on how to act, which I certainly do not want.”

A victory lap was essential by the superstar as excited KKR fans waited patiently for the presentation ceremony to get over. And it was not just the fans, but certain Deccan Chargers’ players too. Andrew Symonds waited patiently by the dugout and gifted the actor his t-shirt and Shah Rukh, the sport that he is, immediately wore it, without a thought that he was donning the opposition’s jersey.

IPL 2010: I don't tell my team how to play, says Shah Rukh Khan

Days after twitting to his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) players that they stop giving excuses and instead deliver, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says he is neither involved in cricketing matters of his team nor the management part of it, but is only there to "entertain."

"I don't involve myself in the cricketing part. Because I feel if I tell them how to play, they will tell me how to act," the KKR owner said.

"I don't tell them (the players) much. I can only love them. Business decisions are taken by (co-owners) Juhi Chawla and Jai Mehta. I come to entertain."

However, he justified the stern warning through his twitter account. "It helps at times if you treat them (the Knight Riders cricketers) as boys."

SRK, as Shah Rukh is affectionately called, seemed happy after his side's convincing victory against the Deccan Chargers Thursday.

"It's good to see dada (KKR skipper Sourav Ganguly) among the runs. I told them (the cricketers) at the start of this season that we cannot do worse than last year's performance. So they can only take the team up".

With Ganguly leading from the front with a blazing 54-ball 88, the KKR scripted a 24-run win over the Deccan Chargers to move up to the fifth slot in the IPL table with eight points. The team had finished with the wooden spoon in the second edition of the tourney held in South Africa last year.

"It's most disappointing when the spectators come and we do not live up to expectations. So it's time we prove ourselves to the crowd at Eden Gardens," said King Khan.

The KKR are scheduled to play four more games at their home ground till April 19.

Asked about his IPL experience since 2008, Shah Rukh said, "The first two years I did not know what to do. I felt helpless when the team did not do well. But now I know the game has its share of ups and downs."

Karan had Shahrukh against Aamir's 3 Idiots

Karan Johar wanted to make a statement with his latest film, the SRK starrer, My Name Is Khan. The film did surely make waves with the Shiv Sena controversy and the huge opening it got.

Comparisons with 3 Idiots were liable since the start. The SRK vs Aamir war had a fresh chapter to be written. Though the film got a huge opening, it fizzled out as the weeks went by and there was consensus in the film world that MNIK would come nowhere close to 3 Idiots.

MNIK has become the highest grosser in the overseas market beating 3 Idiots. Karan was quick to tell the world about this. Wonder why he is showing such desperation? Wasn’t this expected considering he had SRK by his side? Wonder what Aamir would have to say about this.

Aamir, Salman and Shahrukh Khan: The 3 Musketeers, 40 Plus and still going strong!

Speaking of Bollywood and its success stories, the names that come to mind are surely the three Khans.
Now, the Khan brigade, that is Aamir, Salman and Shahrukh Khan (not in any particular order) are the names that bollywood associates itself with these days. The film industry has these three cherries to flaunt the world over, as these actors are known outside the Indian Territory by almost every one and are loved and appreciated even more for their non stop contribution to the world of cinema.

What is it that makes these three Khans click at the box-office? Is it their looks, their penchant for performance or their extreme love for cinema that makes them put their heart and soul into each of their performances?
Perhaps the fact that they are genuine to the art of acting, along with their honesty that comes across on screen has made these actors into super stars the world over, over the years, and are still going strong. There’s no sign of any other brigade taking their place, even now.
These three musketeers of bollywood have spent their entire prime time contributing to cinema, and now, even after having reached the 40 plus bracket, are still going as strong as ever. The most popular, loved, talked about and often dragged into controversies amongst them selves Khan Brigade has ruled, is ruling and shall keep ruling for a long time to come the world of Hindi cinema in bollywood.

The three shall go down in bollywood History as the 3 Musketeers, who loved, hated and fought with each other, and yet cannot exist without the other in the world of bollywood. Strange world , this bollywood, ain’t it?
