SRK's wax statue in France to be dressed in casuals

The French really seem to have taken a fancy for our Bollywood Baadshah, Shah Rukh Khan. After felicitating him with the prestigious French honour, The Order of Arts et Lettres, at a ceremony in Mumbai recently, now the French want a wax statue of SRK's to be placed at the famous Grevin Museum in Paris a la his wax statue at the Madame Tussauds in London. A source informs, "The popularity Shah Rukh enjoys in France is phenomenal. In fact, Shah Rukh himself had no idea how popular his films were in France. So, keeping in mind his enormous popularity with the French, Paris will also have Shah Rukh's wax statue soon."

Reportedly, an official delegation from the museum approached the superstar with a request for his wax statue to be instated at the Grevin Museum and Shah Rukh has given his consent. A source close to the actor confirms, "Artists from the museum have already taken the measurements for the statue and Shah Rukh is pretty excited about being waxed in Paris". So, how different will this statue be as compared to its counterpart in Madame Tussauds, London? "SRK's statue in Tussauds is formally dressed in a black suit, but the wax replica at Grévin might be dressed in smart casuals. Nothing has been finalised yet, so who knows, the statue might even have Shah Rukh flaunting his famous six-pack abs." Reportedly, the statue will be unveiled in April this year and Shah Rukh will fly to Paris to do the honours. So far, Mahatma Gandhi is the only Indian whose statue is on exhibit at the Grevin Museum.

SRK-Priyan project based on KADHA PARAYUMBOL

After years of speculations, the wish of Shah Rukh Khan fans to see him teaming up with maverick director Priyadarshan, has finally become a reality. As per reports, King Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment will produce the project, where Bollywood's global superstar will play himself. As is the case with most Priyan ventures, this one too will be a remake of a South (Malayalam) superhit, KADHA PARAYUMBOL.

The low budget quickie will see Shah Rukh Khan stepping into the role essayed by Mammootty in the original. For those who are not aware about regional cinema, KADHA PARAYUMBOL is the story of a barber, in a Kerala village, whose classmate happens to be a superstar. What happens in the life of the barber, when the superstar and his team come to the village to shoot for a film, forms the crux of the story.

It is obvious that the film will be adapted to suit Bollywood tastes, and Priyan being a master at that is sure to do a swell job. He is even trying to rope in master actor Irrfan Khan for the other role, essayed by Sreenivasan in the original. If things go according to plans, SRK will take up the project after completing Aditya Chopra's RAB NE BANA DI JODI.

Shah Rukh Khan is rated as the biggest Bollywood film star in Germany

Screaming fans and high-pitched media coverage greeted Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan when he arrived here for the screening of his blockbuster film "Om Shanti Om" - or OSO, as locals call it - at the ongoing Berlinale, the Berlin Film Festival.

The huge and almost uncontrollable turnout at the Berlinale of both German and non-German fans Friday night also goes to prove that Germany is shedding its negative perception of what Germans once described, not without contempt, as "exotic films", the "dance-and-song musicals" produced by "Mumbai's dream factories". I Like Women, I Love Them: Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood’s leading super star Shah Rukh Khan will speak his mind on a host of issues on CNN International’s “Revealed” this Saturday.

Shah Rukh will talk about his latest home production “Om Shanti Om”, along with his aspirations for himself and the Hindi film industry. The programme will go behind the scenes with the debonair actor moving to the final dance sequences of his hit movie with Deepika Padukone.

Shah Rukh feels that Indian films are not merely confined to the entertainment bracket. “Indian cinema is about life and that’s why I think it has survived as the largest film industry. And that’s why actors are considered special because people think that we have been chosen by God. But we are not; that’s how people see us,” he says.

Speaking about his role model status for millions of people across the globe, Shah Rukh says: “It’s crazy because people don’t know what I am like in my personal life or how bad or good I am, but they see me as a nice guy on screen. We believe in our cinema and we believe that it reflects reality and gives us hope at the same time.”

Upbeat about the enthusiastic response to his film “Chak De India”, Shah Rukh says it was made from the heart. “The film is very lucky because now it has a cult following in India and women are loving it. I always do one film every one and a half years on women and empowerment. I like women, I love them, somebody should speak for them, because I’m a romantic hero and I have been brought up by women -- by my mother, my sister, my wife, I have a daughter and my best friends are girls.”
