Yash Raj Films decided to give a special birthday gift to Shah Rukh Khan - in a departure from tradition, the production house unveiled the first promo of the superstar’s upcoming film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi before its music release.

Now it is on SRK’s sister Shahnaz Lala Rukh’s 49th birthday, on November 6, that they have decided to release the music Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

“This is for the first time that we are releasing a song promo before the music release. We thought of doing so because the occasion was special,” said Aditya Chopra, who has written and directed Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, scheduled for release December 12.

The promo of Haule Haule, featuring SRK and new-find Anuksha Sharma, has already hit the television screens and provides a first look of the movie. It is sung by Sukhwinder Singh.

The music, scored by Salim and Sulaiman will be released November 6. The duo had composed music for Chak De! India.

As part of the marketing strategy, Yash Raj Films has installed the movie’s promotional standees in all theatres which give a hint of SRK’s looks in the movie. He sports a double role - one of a modestly-dressed bespectacled small-town gentleman and the other of a city guy sporting spiked hair and wearing a trendy T-shirt.

Khan, who has earlier played double roles in Duplicate and Om Shanti Om, has given Yash Raj Films their biggest hit ever with Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. India’s longest running movie Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge broke the record set by Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay.

Interestingly, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi also features Bollywood’s four top-notch leading ladies - Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra - in special appearances and has seven singers - Lata Mangeshkar, Sonu Nigam, Abhijeet, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan and the composer duo Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Khan - singing for it.

Yash Chopra had given a specially-designed trophy to filmmaker Karan Johar as a memento to mark their decade-long business association late last month.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi: A Yash Raaz film!

After several unpleasant instances when scripts of films were leaked out to the media much before they hit the theatres, Aditya Chopra is in no mood to take any chances with his next film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which is his third directorial venture after Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1995 and Mohabbatein in 2000. Even though the Chopras have always been careful to keep their scripts under wraps, Aditya is being extra cautious with the Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer, which will release on December 12.

Even as there are several rumours doing the rounds about the film’s subject, news is that the director has guarded the script so well that even the unit members till today have no clue what the film is exactly all about.

Our source said, “Aditya does not follow the usual working style where copies of the script are distributed amongst unit members so that they have a fair idea of what the film is about. Aditya has got only three copies of the final script of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi-one for himself, one for good friend Shah Rukh Khan who plays the lead and the third copy is for the first assistant director.”

Surprisingly, even the film’s lead actress Anushka Sharma was only briefed about her scenes when she was on the sets. “Anushka had no idea about the story’s detail. She was just given a brief narration when she was signed for the film. Whatever Anushka knew about Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was only the parts she shot for,” added the source.

“The unit members have not even seen the film’s rushes. Aditya has made a foolproof plan to ensure nothing about the film leaks out anywhere,” said the source.

Coming to some rumours about the film’s subject, buzz is that Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is a remake of the ’70s hit Golmaal. It is also being said that it is about a ‘plain jane’ husband who transforms himself to be the man his wife desires. There are also rumours that Shah Rukh Khan plays a double role in the film. But the Chopras have chosen to neither confirm nor deny these rumours.

When contacted, Yash Raj Films spokesperson, Monica Bhattacharya, asked us to send her a text message to which she did not reply.
