Shahrukh Khan evokes sympathy for the disrespected Indian Hockey players

‘My Name is Khan’ star Shahrukh Khan has expressed his agony over the pathetic condition of the Indian hockey players and especially over the poor treatment meted out to the Indian players. Bollywood’s ‘King Khan’ who is an avid sports follower has posted in his twitter page his feelings and has taken a stance in favour of the Indian hockey players.

It’s a known fact that the Indian Hockey is in a dismal state and the hockey players are neither given their due respect nor are they being paid by the officials concerned. This has disheartened the Bollywood star who in his film ‘Chak De India’ has glorified the women’s hockey and the slogan of the popular flick ‘Chak De’ has become synonymous with the national song, especially, when a sports (read Cricket) is being played. But, the sorrowful state of our hockey remains in the gutters and the authorities are to be held responsible for plunging India’s national game to such a sorry and wretched state.

SRK, sympathising with the unpaid hockey players, tweets, “(I) feel awful for the Indian hockey team. To play for the country…national sport and have to ask for salary and we complain we don’t win gold (medals).”

Hopefully, SRK’S initiative will echo out some awareness or else, before long, the sports will meet its fateful death.
