My Name Is Khan: Change is here?

It is official now that My Name Is Khan is a success, and it is still going strong. It has received a lot of applause & accolade from the fans and also from the critics. After 3 Idiots, we have got a movie which passes the ‘new theme’ exam. So, can we say that it may bring the change in the industry? Well, I have seen a glimpse. Just read on:

* People are getting bored with the candy floss movies made by Karan Johar. Though with these pop corn romance, he has attained his present place in the industry, but still, we wanted something different from him, ‘cause the trend is going that way. Though this movie passes this test, but did you notice that the story and screenplay of MNIK was not by K Jo. It was by Shibani Bathija, and that is why this movie has a different feel (read non K Jo feel!). It is said that when he read the story, he thought that if he writes the screenplay, then it may turn out like his previous movies. So he gave it to her. And the result is before us. This is certainly a welcome change.

* I use to hear and read that there was a time when Big B or Dilip Kumar use to appear on screen, fans used to go mad, and they use to throw coins on the screen. This time I chose to watch MNIK in a very small theatre, and you won’t believe, I saw the same craze still alive among the SRK fans. People were cheering SRK, and when he came on screen, some of them did throw coins on the screen. What I mean to say from this experience is that the movie watching in a theatre is back in fashion again. There are torrents, but nothing could be comparable with a theatre experience. All thanks to SRK-K Jo-Kajol, and also to the fans. It’s not the first time people have come out in such a big number to watch a movie. 3 Idiots and Avatar are good examples of this, but I saw the last 2 movies in a multiplex, where I didn’t see that type of madness and fanfare.

* One more thing I liked about this movie is its philosophy and also use of some scientific facts. It was a forte of the foreign movies to use science and philosophy in their movies. Starting from Pi, to the recent A single man, they are quite good at it. But now, since K Jo has started it, so we can expect some movies based on some good philosophy.

* Did you notice that Khan in MNIK didn’t meet George Bush, rather he met Obama. People think that Bush has a negative image in front of Obama. Obama symbolizes a positive change, and this angle was a welcome touch in the movie.
