Shah Rukh Khan wrapped up filming for Karan Johar directed My Name is Khan late night on Wednesday, September 30.

The delighted director tweeted:

shahrukh just wrapped on MNIK...he has been so amazing through the shoot...he deserves every bit of his legendary status!!

Earlier Johar had tweeted:

the energy and aura a shahrukh-kajol shoot has is enigmatic...and beyond...

Shah Rukh plays an autistic character in the film for which he delligently researched and practiced. Johar said he was "blown away by Shah Rukh who had done monumental research on his autistic character in the film. I was zapped by how much he knew about the subject."

The last schedule of the film was in Mumbai and started in mid September. Shah Rukh had some tough shots. He was neck deep in water for two days. While the crew had waterproof gear to protect themselves, Shah Rukh didn't and was all wrinkled at the end of it. Johar was ecstatic with the footage of that scene.

Production will wrap up on October 2 after which the film will go into post production.

Back in August Karan Johar was reported to have signed a Rs 1 billion deal with Fox Studios to market and distribute the film. The film is slated for a February 2010 release.

Looking ahead, Shah Rukh will act/voiceover and produce a sequel to his two decade old TV serial, Fauji. He will play father to his character Abhimanyu Singh giving him inspirational pep talk. There will be no grey hair and he will be in a army makeover of sorts.

In his next film, Subhash Kapoor penned/helmed Jolly LLB, Shah Rukh will play a legal eagle, his first tryst with the bar in films. He is also a co-producer of the film.

In Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet Shah Rukh Khan will team up wtih Aamir Khan and Joihn abraham. The film will be presented by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire).

Shah Rukh is also set for his fourth outing wtih Aditya Chopra for Dhoom 3. In it he plays a negative role, in stark contrast with the romantic hero roles that he essayed in his earlier Chopra directed films - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Mohabbatein (2000) and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008).
