Can Shahrukh Khan steal Salman’s thunder?

On Tuesday evening, Salman Khan created history of sorts by bringing out half of the film industry on the ramp for his ‘Being Human’ show at HDIL India Couture Week. The show turned out to be an eye-grabber as the menagerie of Bollywood stars (Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, Govinda, Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt) walked the ramp in ‘Being Human’ togs.

Now, as the Couture week draws to its closing day, attention shifts to Shahrukh Khan who will walk the ramp as the showstopper for good buddy Karan Johar on the final day.

K-Jo will launch his clothing line along with designer Varun Bahl and the event could turn out to be a show of strength for the SRK camp.

Themed ‘Rock Star’, the show will begin with Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan, good chums and heartthrobs for millions of their fans, sashaying down the runway. It will end with SRK and wife Gauri Khan walking the ramp as showstoppers.

A lot of film folk are likely to take the first row. The buzz is that invitations have been sent to K-Jo and SRK’s common buddies like Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra and, of course, the Bachchans.

Meanwhile, after his ‘Being Human’ show Salman made light of his much-reported rivalry with SRK. Sallu said there’s no cold war between him and SRK and that most of this rivalry is created by media. Now, we can’t wait to hear what SRK has to say to that!

Emami renews contract with Shah Rukh

Kolkata-based FMCG company Emami has renewed its contract with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for its men’s grooming product, ‘Fair and Handsome’ as part of a strategy to make it a Rs 200-crore brand in the next two-three years.

“Our association with Shah Rukh Khan has been very rewarding. We have renewed the contract with him for the next two years,’’ the Emami Director, Mr Aditya Agarwal, told PTI.

Mr Khan was signed up as the brand ambassador of the product in 2007.

Mr Agarwal claimed that ‘Fair and Handsome’ brand has been one of the largest selling men’s grooming products in the country and has crossed over Rs 100-crore sales over the last three years.

“With the changing trend, men’s outlook on grooming has also changed. Our product has been doing very well and we expect that in the next two-three years, it will be a Rs 200-crore brand,’’ he said.

No war between Shah Rukh and me: Salman

There is no war between Shah Rukh Khan and me: Salman Khan Bollywood actor Salman Khan says there is no war or rivalry between him and his colleague Shah Rukh Khan. He said stories of friction between them are created by the media and that he is tired of such 'news'.

"There is no war between us. It is the media who creates all this misunderstanding," Salman said on Tuesday after his 'Being Human' show at the ongoing HDIL India Couture Week.

"You will ask me some question about him here and then you will ask him the same question regarding me somewhere else - then you clip them together and run it continuously on TV screens for days creating unnecessary hype and misunderstanding," he added.

The actor clarified that he is tired of such rumours and doesn't enjoy them at all.

"I would request you to show respect to him and me as well. I am tired of all this. Aren't you people bored too?" asked Salman.

Cool SRK flaunts grey!

In a world that is youth-ist; and defined by vanity and a constant aim towards perfection, it was refreshing to spot a fresh-out-of-the-bed Shah Rukh Khan as he walked to a polling booth near Mount Mary, in Bandra, yesterday to cast his vote.

We took note of SRK’s grey stubble — not clipped, not by design; a first for any Bollywood superstar.

Amitabh Bachchan wears the well constructed odd contrast of grey and dark elegantly, while Akshay Kumar sported a carefully-styled dash of grey on his fuzz in the reality show Khatron ke Khiladi.

The normally stylish badshah who goes to great lengths to get his togs and look in place before any public
appearance, (even at friends Karan Johar and Farah Khan’s talk shows), seemed to be comfortable in his own skin. We fully approve and hope that other 40-plus Bollywood stars would lighten up and emulate SRK’s coolth.

Shahrukh Khan is a clever man

The seen is that KJo had a candid interview to a website, on being asked whether Sharukh Khan approves on every word of his, it may be films and specially clothes that he wears, as it is well known that the Karan shops for SRK. Answering to that and starting with his (SRK) politeness, he said that they rarely have a disagreement and if they do have then acts very in clever manner and has that moment of silence at times he does not like anything.

And sometimes it also happens that he totally disapproves and says that he (SRK) would look 'idiotic'!

SRK in a flick on social networking

From virtual to reel, the Facebook fancy of our film folks goes a step further, as Shah Rukh Khan gears up to produce and act in a movie on the popular social SRKnetworking site.

The film is produced by Khan's Red Chillies Productions in association with the Morani Brothers of Cineyug, and marks the directorial debut of TV anchor and radio personality Roshan Abbas. Confirms Mohammad Morani, "We are coming up with a film on Facebook and similar social networking sites in collaboration with Red Chillies, and Shah Rukh might act in it. The talks are still on"

The film is based on Abbas play, Graffiti - Post Card From School, which deals with the problems of teenagers and adolescents. Zoa, daughter of Karim Morani, also makes her acting debut with the film. Zoa has been working as an assistant with directors like Farah Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi. She was seen in a bit role as one of the aspirants for the Shantipriya lookalikes in Om Shanti Om.

Elsewhere, Hollywood filmmaker David Fincher is in advanced talks with Columbia Pictures to direct The Social Network, a film based on the true story of the founding of Facebook. The screenplay is based on the book The Accidental Billionaires.

The film will see actor Jesse Eisenberg playing Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, pop star Justin Timberlake as Napster co-founder/Facebook president Sean Parker and Andrew Garfield taking on the role of Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.

Shah Rukh Khan In Paul Schrader Venture

Hollywood screenplay writer Paul Schrader is said to have hinted on casting Bollywood Ka Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan, in his next venture, which is based on the infamous underworld of Mumbai. Shah Rukh is currently gearing up to star in Danny Boyle’s ‘Bombay Velvet’, which will be directed by ace director, Anurag Kashyap.

Reports claim that Schrader has joined hands with Mushtaq Shiekh and Anubhav Sinha for producing the $10 million-budgeted movie, which has been titled as ‘Xtrme City’. The information regarding the movie was disclosed by David Weisman’s ‘Vanishing Cinema LLC’, in the presence of Mushtaq Shiekh and Anubhav Sinha.

Sha Rukh has worked with Sheik for his Om Shanti Om and is currently working of sci-fi thriller ‘Ra1’.

The movie, which will be shot for audiences across the world, is supposed to be an action thriller, which is set in “brutal, impenetrable, criminal orbit of Mumbai”.

“Spending time in India and working with a Bollywood talent like Shiekh has inspired and excited me to make a film accessible and meaningful to both Indian and American cultures,” said Schrader in a statement issued to the media.

Dave Whatmore appointed as KKR coach

Dave Whatmore will succeed John Buchanon as coach of Shah Rukh Khan owned IPL Franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, sources said.

The long-time deadlock came to end today when KKR have announced the appointment of Dave Whatmore as the coach of the team.

If sources are to be believed the former Sri Lankan coach has been unanimously selected for the KKR coach Job.

Several candidates including Wasim Akram, John Wright, Richard Pybus Duncan Fletcher, Dermot Reeve were interviewed by the team management and finally decided to Whatmore as its coach.

The Wahtmore will coach the KKR while Sourav Ganguly will lead the KKR in third Edition of IPL in 2010.

Shah Rukh Khan defeats Salman Khan, will walk ramp on grand finale!

Shah Rukh Khan, the badshah of bollywood who was in a bitter contention with macho Salman Khan for walking the ramp on the grand finale of HDIL Couture week to be held in Mumbai from tomorrow, has defeated his bitter rival Sallubhai and will walk the ramp on the final day.

Now, it has been officially confirmed by the event organizers that Shah Rukh Khan, and not Salman Khan, will walk the ramp on 16th October, when the scheduled finale event is going to be held. Shah Rukh Khan will be walking the ramp for launching his friend and ace director Karan Johar’s clothesline at the glittering event.

Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan’s better half, will also be accompanying him on the ramp for displaying Karan Johar’s range of designs. On the other hand, a furious Salman Khan does not want even to be present in Mumbai on that day of grand finale, leave alone attending the show.

Earlier, Salman Khan had asked the organizers to allot the grand finale show for his charity origination ‘Being Human’ clothesline and had even roped in the biggies from bollywood to walk the ramp for him. For instance, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar will be doing the honor for Sallubhai’s charity organization.

One theory doing the rounds in the industry about Shah Rukh Khan’s win over Salman Khan attributes it to the clout that Karan Johar, the famous director and producer, hold in bollywood. According to this view, it was Karan Johar who ensured that the grand finale of the Couture week went to Shah Rukh Khan as he was displaying Karan’s designs.

Another argument advanced by Shah Rukh Khan camp to the organizers of the event was that there was nothing personal for King Khan in the event as to invite Salman Khan’s objection. Shah Rukh Khan was walking the ramp for Karan Johar, and so Salman Khan factor should not come into play.

Even for Salman Khan, there was nothing personal, as he was walking the ramp for a charitable organization ‘Being Human’ and not for his own designs. This tilted the scale in Shah Rukh Khan’s favor, and finally Salman Khan was allotted the day of 13th October to walk the ramp, instead of grand finale on October 16.

In any case, Salman Khan will be too busy on the 16th of October as his latest flick ‘Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’, pairing him opposite gorgeous Kareena Kapoor, is releasing on the same day. He is most likely to be busy with the promotion of his upcoming mega- budget flick than involving himself with these events.

But skeptics say that ‘Mr Aurr Mrs. Khanna’ was the main reason that Salman Khan wanted to be in limelight as it would have promoted his flick effortlessly. But it seems that Shah Rukh Khan has again queered the pitch for macho Khan, what say?
