Shah Rukh Khan cancels Germany supershows

All the shows of Shah Rukh Khan’s world tour, Temptation Reloaded 2008, in Germany and Spain have been cancelled. Now, only one show will take place in Dubai.

Shah Rukh Khan’s ambitious world tour Temptation Reloaded 2008, which was supposed to commence on October 18 is in jeopardy.

Although a few weeks ago it seemed like SRK has yet another winner in his hands with some of the biggest Bollywood stars like Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Arjun Rampal agreeing to be part of his much anticipated world tour, things are not the same anymore.

Now, SRK is in a tight spot as the promoter of the Germany show has breached the contract. Consequently, the shows in Germany and Spain have been cancelled. However, the last show in Dubai, which was to take place on October 25, will take place.

A source said, “It is a big disappointment for SRK. In fact, industry insiders had labelled this tour as SRK’s answer to Amitabh Bachchan’s Unforgettable Tour. But now, SRK will have to be content with only one show in Dubai.”

When contacted, Karim Morani (director of the Temptation Reloaded 2008 tour) sent us a text message, which read, “Red Chillies Entertainment Limited (SRK’s production house) announces with great regret that they will be unable to facilitate the three city tour of Temptations Reloaded 2008 in Germany (in Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt).

This is due to the breach of contract by the promoter of the shows Sensasian Media Limited. They did not fulfill their obligation in due time which makes it impossible for the shows to take place in Germany.”

What does ‘did not fulfill their obligation’ mean we asked? “Well, there was a violation of several clauses, including non-payment of dues,” Karim explained.

But, why has the Spain leg of the Temptation Reloaded 2008 tour also been cancelled? Karim said, “Well, the shows in Germany and Spain were a part of the Europe leg. We can’t be going Spain alone. For the time being, it’s just Dubai. The shows in Spain may happen at a later date.”

And what about rumours that there were some creative differences between SRK and the Moranis? “No way,” said Karim.

Does Shahrukh Khan want to retire?

If the buzz in Bollywood is to be believed, the King Khan is in a mood to bid adieu to the tinsel town.

Shahrukh Khan very recently announced his plans to develop real estate in Dubai, where he will expand his business by getting into construction and housing. He is all set to build housing and shopping complexes in Dubai.

And sources reveal that SRK will make another Mannat for his family over there. His wife Gauri Khan is busy designing and preparing for interiors, as Khans love the heritage house, closer to Bandstand, Bandra.

We all know that the kinds of roles Shahrukh plays are generally into romantic mode. But he won’t be able to continue this for long because of his fast-catching age. So, sources close to the superstar are quoted as saying that he plans to continue in B-Town for another 3-4 years or so and then retire from acting. Or at the most he might begin doing very few films.

However, the superstar will continue to produce films and will continue to be the co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders.

It can be recalled that a couple of years ago even Amitabh Bachchan had declared his retirement, only to return to the silver screen with Mohabbatein .

Now, when and how will SRK exit from this glitzy world of cinema, only time can tell!

Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan have always had a competition between themselves. Shahrukh has always had box office successes where as Aamir has been labeled as the perfectionist actor in the industry. It is not surprising that corporate giants are have brought in Aamir to counter Shahrukh's aura. Samsung signed Aamir after Shahrukh became the brand ambassador of Nokia.

Tata Sky made Aamir do the jingalala act after Shahrukh starred in the Dish TV commercial. Now Aamir took a dig at Shahrukh in his witty style. When quizzed about competition from Dish TV Aamir replied "Dish TV? Whats that?" To another question whether he was following SRK's media friendly ways Aamir stated that he did not follow others but did what he wanted to do. Hope this does not start a war of word between the two stars.

Be it in terms of looks or his demeanour, Maddie has been likened to the sprightly Shah Rukh Khan many a time. And it is perhaps this similarity, that has prompted Karan Johar to cast Maddie as SRK’s brother in My Name is Khan.

Madhavan, who hasn’t smelt a lot of success in Tamil cinema in recent times, is already working for 'Theen Patti' with Amitabh Bachchan and Three Idiots with Aamir Khan.

In Tamil, meanwhile, he has signed up for a movie with Thankar Bachan in which Sathyaraj plays his dad. He also has 'Naan Aval Adhu', 'Yaavarum Nalam' pending for release, apart from Aananda Punnagai.

A state award to bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has stirred up a hornet's nest here with local artists protesting the decision saying the star did not deserve the title.
The President of the Artistes Association of Malaysia Mustapha Maarof said Khan did not deserve the award. The Association said it would hand a letter to the Ministry of Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage stating that the award by Malacca state was "irrelevant".

"Giving the award to an outsider is as if certain quarters are belittling the credibility and creativity of local talents," he said adding that local film makers and actors had struggled hard to raise the standard of the film industry.

Khan was awarded the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM), which carries the title 'Datuk' was conferred to him by the Malacca state, one of the 13 states of Malaysia for promoting Malacca in his songs and films. Khan's film "One Two Ka Four" was shot in Malacca.

The actor was among several others who to get the award on the occasion of 70th birth anniversary of Malacca's head of state Mohd Khalil Yaakob.

Khan, however, did not attend the award ceremony as he was in Singapore to attend a show.

The actor is hugely popular in Malaysia especially among the Muslim Malays, who see all his Hindi films in Malay subtitles. Khan is also popular among the Pakistani community here.

The award has inadvertently stirred up a controversy in this Indian films crazy southeast Asian country as several people including the opposition parties have already raise questions over the state's decision to award Shah Rukh Khan ignoring the contribution of locals.
