SRK completes 100 days of tweeting

Shah Rukh Khan today completed 100 days of being on the micro blogging site Twitter. The actor, who goes by the handle @iamsrk, tweeted his happiness on the occasion saying, "100 days on twitter. thanks everyone. saw a 3 month old baby yesterday...seems like i am one on the twitter now. its been a good life so far."

Shah Rukh had created a record of sorts when he joined the site, as he got 10,000 followers within 24 hours of joining. He also drew mild criticism when he joined the site before the release of his film My Name Is Khan, with naysayers claiming it was a publicity stunt for the film and he would not continue tweeting after the film released. But with IPL3 following soon after his film's release, Shah Rukh had much to share about his experiences and his hopes for his IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders.

Shahrukh has big dreams on Twitter

Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan has made a wish. He wants to be the most popular Indian on micro-blogging site Twitter and overtake Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor. Shahrukh who had taken to Twitter ahead of the release of his movie My Name Is Khan has close to 170000 followers compared to that of Tharoor who has more than 660000 followers and has landed in many controversies due to his tweets.

Speaking at NDTV Indian of the Year Awards, Shahrukh said "In few months I am going to overtake Shahi Tharoor (on twitter). I am going for him. He is our god." Tharoor was generous enough to Shahrukh's statement and replied "I had predicted this the day Shahrukh joined twitter. I will be happy rather than regret it," the politician said. Well seems like from being the Baadshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh wants to be Baadshah of the internet.

Shahrukh Khan 'Touched' by Twitter Fans

King Khan took over New York City earlier this week when he came to promote his new movie "My Name is Khan," with his co-star Kajol, but he was also asked about recently joining Twitter.

And Shahrukh Khan admitted that instead of using Twitter as a social network tool to post short updates about his whereabouts, he uses is to chat with fans who ask him all kinds of questions!

"I'm shy but one night Karan Johartold me to do it so I said ok and I did it. Once I came on I was touched to see that I had so many people following me," SRK revealed.

"I've never had so many questions since I was interrogated at Newark Airport!" he added jokingly in reference to last year's incident when the King of Bollywood, just like his character in "My Name is Khan," was detained at a U.S. airport and questioned for hours.

Well we're happy to see that Shahrukh has not lost his good sense of humor amid all the controversy!

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol arrive in New York, 100,000 people follow!

Shah Rukh Khan arrived in New York with Kajol, his 'My Name is Khan' (MNIK) co-star, on Sunday afternoon closely followed by 100,000 fans, on Twitter that is.

When Shah Rukh entered Twitterverse on January 3, we predicted he would have the largest following on the micro blogging site amidst all Indians. Within 15 hours of his first tweet, he had 10,000 followers, a little over 15 days later the number had crossed 100,000.

We expect Shah Rukh following to cross the million mark before the summer ends and we doubt any Indian could do better, which is one good reason why we expect the other Khans to stay out of Twitterverse.

Shah Rukh is a delight to follow on Twitter because he tweets straight from his heart. He uses Twitter to bare his soul, not promote his work, and his fans love that.

Shah Rukh is in New York to ring the opening bell for NASDAQ stock exchange as part of the promotional campaign for MNIK in the US. He and Kajol will ring the bell on behalf of Fox Searchlight Pictures which is distributing the film in the US market.

Meanwhile, the film's producer and director, Karan Johar, who is also a close friend of Shah Rukh and Kajol, is headed to London to promote the film in the UK.

After arriving in New York, Shah Rukh jokingly tweeted to Karan

@kjohar25 for a change kajol and me are doing the glamourous stuff & u do the hard work. heard everyone loved the film. u r a rockstar bro.

Twitter Press Conference with SRK and Fans

Shah Rukh Khan hosted an impromptu online press conference on Friday evening when he posted this message on Twitter inviting his followers to send him questions:

yes ask me questions...will answer for the next 10 mins and then off to bed. dont know if i can answer each one but will try

Shah Rukh (who tweets under the handle @iamsrk) has over 96, 000 followers on the popular social networking site and was immediately flooded with questions and replies. The 10 minute answer window stretched into nearly an hour, filled with intriguing and sometimes cryptic glimpses into King Khan's world.

Quirky highlights from what SRK himself referred to as …like [a] press conference but…without nonsensical controversies include:

-can shave all hair for a role
-can make boiled eggs
-will try and give up smoking
-remember i had a toy piano when i was a kid and miss it
-age expectancy 105
-anyone can work in India
-amitji and dilip kumar fav actors

The only topic that SRK didn't address was anything related to the IPL (Indian Premier League), saying as he signed off for the night:

have a great nite. dont answer ipl questions cos people look at the wrong end of the answers. love u all and have a good life. dreams

Even after the Badshaah had signed off, fans continued to flood Twitter with messages for him, thanking him for his generosity in taking an hour to answer so many questions.

Shah Rukh turns poet

Bollywood superstar and Twitter newbie Shah Rukh Khan is now showing a poetic streak. In a series of recent tweets on the microblogging site, 'IamSrk' has come out with his own take on poet laureate Rabindranath Tagore's famous vision of India.

"Watched news on tv tonite & thought of the poem by great rabindranth tagore. at risk of being lynched i kind of updated it. here goes," Shah Rukh writes.

"where our lives r without fear, & the media is beyond lies. where water is free. where the states don't want to break into fragments.

where words r not just words. where economy is not hampered by selfish gains. where mere reasons r not given for rise in prices," he subsequently tweets.

Shah Rukh has recently been vocal about his displeasure with the government over the treatment of hockey players. The actor recently joined Twitter where among other things, he also lets his fans know his views on current happenings.

He has also not shied away from taking a stand on political issues. Replying to NDTV Group Editor Barkha Dutt's tweet "Sessions court asks Soren to appear in relation to a murder case. Guess makes no diff to pol parties who have supported him, past or present", this is what Shah Rukh wrote: "dont stress over political parties...for them if 2 wrongs dont make a right..(hey always try a third."

Within days of joining Twitter, King Khan seems to have become as popular in the cyberworld as he is in real life. He has over 71,000 followers and according to some reports, is among the most re-tweeted Twitter users.

"Being extremely shy, I never thought I would be here (on Twitter). But my friend Karan Johar insisted that I should learn to share my life," Shah Rukh had earlier posted on his Twitter page.

"Thanks everyone, this is really sweet...didn't expect such a warm welcome. Love to you all," he added.

The superstar was hardly seen on big screen in 2009 except in Billu, and explaining the reason behind his absence, he wrote: "Injury has kept me away from making more films. Will work my back off to be around more... the shoulder feels strong and so do I."

In February last year, Shah Rukh underwent an arthroscopic surgery for acute pain in his left shoulder at the Breach Candy hospital in south Mumbai.

He is now gearing up for the release of his much-talked about film My Name is Khan which also stars Kajol.

Shah Rukh Khan has got a fan following of 42,739+ on Twitter! He is indeed lucky to get so many fans at one go on Twitter. These fans are not to be taken in the face value but they mean a lot to him. It is this love that makes him King Khan of Bollywood. This is a definitely priceless. In response to this loving gesture by his fans he tweeted “love u all and sorry that replying individually is a bit difficult…but i do read u all.”

However Shah Rukh Khan is only following or is friends with 12 people so far. All of them as of now are from the film industry only. To name some Priyanka Chopra (priyankachopra), Rajdeep Sardesai (sardesairajdeep), Karan Johar (kjohar25), Riteish Deshmukh (Riteishd), Barkha Dutt (BDUTT) and Riteish Deshmukh (Riteishd).

Shah Rukh Khan’s original Twitter id is http://twitter.com/@iamsrk. He has started to use Twitter to express his feelings, the same way usually celebs do. In one his tweets he has written “got to go..have a flight to catch. taking a jet plane..travel in a motorcade and launch an environmentally friendly i 20 hyndai car.ironic” is about the Auto Expo in Delhi.

Shah Rukh Khan has 30,000+ Twitter followers

Shah Rukh Khan, the Badshah of bollywood who started blogging on twitter to promote his upcoming flick ‘My Name Is Khan’, has already thirty thousand followers in two days on twitter but Kamaal Rashid Khan is still defiant and says that he will have more numbers than SRK in a month’s time.

Shah Rukh started twitting with ‘iamsrk’on Karan Johar’s prodding who wanted King Khan to join the social networking site to promote their upcoming flick. King Khan did not disappoint Karan and tweeted in his latest that he had dubbed for ‘My Name Is Khan’ for the twenty- fifth time due to perfectionist nature of Karan Johar.

On the other hand, Kamaal Khan, the Bhojpuri film actor and a contestant on the third season of Bigg Boss reality show who managed to make only sixty three fans in a day, still thinks that he was more popular than Shah Rukh Khan.

Leave Shah Rukh Khan, even his imposter on twitter whose profile name is ‘imsrk’, has made more than two thousand followers, which is far more that KRK’s meager number of sixty three.

Whereas Shah Rukh Khan’s purpose is to promote ‘My Name Is Khan, Kamaal Khan is busy searching for a heroine to be cast opposite him in ‘Deshdrohi 2’. While Shah Rukh Khan has actresses and other female fans falling over each other to be cast opposite him, KRK is still waiting for a suitable heroine who would agree to be cast opposite him.

However, in one respect Shah Rukh Khan and KRK are equal on twitter and that is in having fake profiles. While Shah Rukh Khan’s imposter calls himself ‘imsrk’, Kamaal Khan’s imposter profile clearly mentions that it’s a fake profile of KRK. In fact, it goes on to preach the imposter of Shah Rukh to take a lesson from him and clearly mention that it was a fake one.

Shah Rukh Khan’s stakes in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ is very high due to involvement of SRK’s own production house as co-producer with Dharma productions. In fact, ‘Billu Barber’, which had been earlier made by SRK’s production house could not do much at the box office, and hence put more pressure on King Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan coming on twitter as ‘iamsrk’ should be seen in this light. Shah Rukh Khan does not want to leave any stone unturned in making ‘My Name Is Khan’ a success at the box office, which is releasing world over on February 12.

‘My Name Is Khan’ has King Khan portraying the character of a patient suffering from Asperger’s disease. Kajol plays the part of a single parent, who is in love with Shah Rukh. The movie has been set in the US and most parts of the shoot had taken place there.

Guess makes no diff to pol parties who have supported him, past or present” The My Name Is Khan star made a earth shattering debut on Twitter having attracted more than 23000 followers in just two days.

Shahrukh Khan joins Twitter, receives great welcome

It seems Twitter is too much a temptation to resist and that too for the celebrities across the world who are joining this social networking fraternity. Bollywood Actor Shah Rukh Khan is the recent inclusion in the Twitter family as the superstar made his tweeting debut on Saturday from his Twitter id @iamsrk.

It was a real surprise for the King Khan fans as he tweeted for the first time. His first tweet reads, "hi everyone. being extremely shy i never thought i would be here. but my friend @kjohar25 insisted that i should learn to share my life." Karan Johar, one of the most popular directors in Bollywood and a close friend of SRK is an ardent twitterer and a much experienced one than the debutant. It was Karan Johar who for the first time notified the tweeple about Shah Rukh Khan joining Twitter. SRK's admirer and the ruling Bollywood actress Priyanaka Chopra was soon to respond as she tweets, "Pls welcome my most favorite actor ever..SRK @iamsrk !! So glad ure here!! Show some love twitterverse!!".

She was followed by actress Genelia D'Souza who gave a warm welcome to SRK as she says, "..wat a lovely mrng to wake up n c shahrukh on twitter.. Welcome shahrukh @iamsrk : )" The King Khan, with his usual modesty conveyed his wishes to the tweeple and added that he didn't expect such a warm welcome from all. In less than 12 hours the master actor has got close to 7000 followers under his belt and his follower count is growing evidently fast. His presence on twitter seems to be a motivation for the tweeple as one of them admits, "yipeeeeee finally some motivation to be regular on Twitter". While some of the Shah Rukh fans gave "king size welcome" to twitterverse, some of them went on to approach the actor with their promotional plans. One of the twitterers have rightly kept his fingers crossed as he contemplated "how fast the followers of @iamsrk climb up ... will it break ur record @priyankachopra @ShashiTharooor".

Apart from showering love on SRK, his demanding fans have already started asking him for a nice profile pic and replying to their tweets. The actor must be having some engaging sessions interacting with his followers and meeting their demands.
