Shahrukh finally patches up with Bhansali

It seems Bollywood biggies Shahrukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have finally patched up after keeping away from each other for about two years. Shahrukh broke the ice by calling up the filmmaker.

The news is doing the rounds that King Khan called up Bhansali while he was at a private screening of Guzaarish at Yash Raj Studios, and the duo spoke for about 20 minutes. The actor, who has already watched Guzaarish, reported told the filmmaker that Devdas (by Bhansali) was his best film so far. And sources said that Bhansali looked happy after the conversation.

It may be recalled that Shahrukh and Bhansali severed their relationship when their films Om Shanti Om and Saawarya were released on the same day two years ago. They even took a few digs at each other then. But it's passe now, as they have patched up over Guzaarish!

Bhansali - SRK clash again

Recall the most discussed clash in Diwali 2007. I am talking about Shah Rukh Khan's OM SHANTI OM and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's SAAWARIYA. Three years later, Bhansali and SRK are expected to clash again. Jee haan, Bhansali's new film GUZAARISH is slated for release on 19th November and actor-director Makrand Deshpande's new film SHAHRUKH BOLA KHOOBSURAT HAIN TU has been confirmed for this date as well. Well, SRK doesn't have a full-fledged role in the film, but the actor makes a cameo appearance nonetheless, besides having his name in the film's title.

In fact, the title value of the film is so strong [SHAHRUKH BOLA KHOOBSURAT HAIN TU], it should attract instant attention when the promotion begins. What say?

Bhansali lashes out against Shah Rukh

Noted film expert, author and NDTV's consulting editor, films, Anupama Chopra interviewed Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Paris.

The show, aired over the weekend, featured clips of Bhansali's mega musical Padmavati, being staged in Paris, and was also successful in getting Bhansali to finally react to a lot of things.

Chopra asked him about the barbs directed at him in recent times. She was referring to the Filmfare award ceremonies where Saawariya and Bhansali were the objects of ridicule, especially in the hands of star anchors Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan. (Read all about it: SRK and Saif's Filmfare antics )

"They have no dignity," said Bhansali. "It makes me upset when people (like Shah Rukh) who have worked with me, say and do the things they did. I cannot ever imagine Mr Bachchan or Naseeruddin Shah to do something like this," said Bhansali, adding, "I respect them a lot." The 'mockery' as Bhansali put it, was completely uncalled for. Not stopping at that, Bhansali went on to express his displeasure about the platform that gave them the license to behave in such an unsavoury fashion and the people "who found the whole thing funny and sat through it all, laughing." Such undignified behaviour affects the credibility of the award ceremony as well, he added. "I don't know why they behaved like that," he sighed.

Battle Lines Drawn for Diwali

The battle lines are drawn this Diwali. King Khan is all set to make noise but there is a twist in the tale. The distributors of Saawariya and Om Shanti Om have decided to tone down the competition but just a bit.

"I am going to put up a tough fight but in good way, so what if the Americans have invested in Sawariyan I am Chak de India. All Indians will watch Om Shanti Om on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and the Americans can go watch Saawariya," said Shah Rukh Khan, actor.

Om Shanti Om vs Saawariya on this Diwali

Shahrukh Khan has been all ‘Om Shanti Om’ of late. Well he might just need a prayer, considering his film is releasing with Saawariya and all that competition can only be good for the movie-goer.

“Saawariya is a huge film. Our film is a secondary film and I will try my best to make it the nicest film of the year. There is no competition; there are enough people to watch a film. I'm very attached to Saawariya also because of my relationship with so many people in Saawariya. Of course, my own child is Om Shanti Om,” says Shahrukh.

While the media hype around Saawariya verses Om Shanti Om builds up considering, both films are releasing on the same day, it looks like SRK is going the reverse psychology route by placing as little expectation as possible on his film. It certainly worked for Chak De India.
Shahrukh is also making sure he doesn't tread on any influential toes and is full of praise for the competition.

“I have a lot of respect for him as a friend, and as a director. His film is being presented by Columbia TriStar; there are many big stars in it. It’s got Salman Khan, Rani Mukherjee, and two youngsters who respect me - Ranbir and Sonam. So I have respect for that film and I wish it all the best,” SRK said.

But while Saawariya may have the star kids and of course Bhansali's genius, Om Shanti Om has another weapon in its arsenal - SRK's six pack - and we just had to ask him how it feels to be rippling with muscles all of a sudden. “I feel good having done this and I would tell all the youngsters to please work out, whether you run, or play sports,” he said.

Besides a buff SRK, what else do we have to look forward to from Om Shanti Om? Is the film as meditative as it sounds? “One is Om Kapoor and one is Om Prakash Makhija. Both of them form the 'Om' Shanti 'Om'. This is not a religious or meditative film,” said SRK.

Well a meditative film it may not be, but we certainly know a lot of fans who are going to be in a state of nirvana when SRK struts his stuff.

I gave Shah Rukh Khan my six pack : Salman Khan

Salman Khan takes a dig at Shah Rukh's new six packs, at the music release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' - the debut film for star kids Sonam and Ranbir Kapoor.

The music release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' on Saturday night ,September 15 in Mumbai was a much-talked about one.

Besides the fact that this is the first time star kids Sonam and Ranbir Kapoor were introduced to the media, it was memorable for Salman Khan's inimitable comments on Shah Rukh Khan's new muscled avataar.

"The thing is I gave Shah Rukh Khan my six pack," Sallu quipped.

Shah Rukh Khan, too, had earlier this week taken a dig at Salman replying to a question, "I'm still talented enough not to do it without my shirt."

Salman with his inimitable comments stole the show from star kid debutants Ranbir and Sonam Kapoor. 'Saawariya', which also stars Salman and Rani in substantial roles will be releasing the same day as Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Om Shanti Om' directed by Farhan Khan.
Incidentally last year around the same time Salman's 'Jaan-e-mann' and SRK's 'Don' were released on the same day out of which 'Don' ended up faring better at the box office.

Remarking on the "I have so far never come in front of you guys, but this time I think I am, I little... I think everybody should publicise their films, they should go all out and in fact I have never done that. Now I have learnt to do it from Shah Rukh, so that people know that the film is releasing and go and watch the film. Everybody should promote their movies. That is what I am doing," said Salman on his uncharacteristic decision to go to the press with the movie.

How they felt about taking on 'Om Shanti Om' was pretty obvious - Rishi Kapoor called 'Saawariya' a "small film in front of a very big film", while Bhansali said he was nervous about the public's verdict on how he had portrayed the granddaughter of Raj Kapoor and the son of Anil Kapoor. "it's a very big responsibility," he admitted.

Salman Khan and Rani Mukherjee have significant roles in Saawariya.

Watch for the fireworks this Diwali as SRK and Salman battle it out at the box-office!

Om Shanti Om vs Saawariya

It is almost certain now ( barring a miracle) that Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Om Shanti Om’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’ will come together on 'Diwali'.

And the confidence-of the dual 'Diwali' releases comes from the fact that the cinema bookings for both the big-budgeted extravaganzas have begun in Delhi in right earnest.

There is not much clamour for the multiplexes of the capital city of India because all the multiplexes have multiple screens and are equipped to release both the films on the festive occasion. But the scramble is for single screen cinemas because there are hardly any areas in Delhi with more than one single-screen cinema.

With Shah Rukh Khan not having conceded Bhansali’s request to postpone his ‘Om Shanti Om’ it will now be a clash of two big-budget movies on Diwali. ‘Om Shanti Om’ has reportedly cost Rs.35 crores to make. The budget of ‘Saawariya’ is also said to be in the region of Rs. 40-crores.
