Preity throws her weight behind SRK on Sena attacks

Even as the Shiv Sena workers went on a rampage and tore down posters of Shahrukh Khan's film 'My Name Is Khan' in Mumbai for his comments on Pakistani cricketers, old friend and filmstar Preity Zinta has thrown her weight behind the actor.

''Guyz just for the record.. Shahrukh is the most secular and the fairest guy I know! It’s unfair to judge his movie based on his opinions!'' said Preity on her Twitter.

The actress, who has co-starred with SRK in films like 'Dil Se,' 'Veer Zara', Kal Ho Na Ho' and 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna,' also said she loved the man and would defend him if any ''nonsense'' was written about him.

''I do love Karan Johar and Shah Rukh! Both are very dear to me and I will defend them if someone writes nonsense about them!'' tweeted Preity, who is away in Dubai for her birthday.

The damsel is known for publicly speaking her mind and even was awarded the Godfrey Phillips National Bravery Award for being the only witness not to retract in court her earlier statements against the Indian mafia in the 2003 Bharat Shah case.

Shahrukh Khan & Kajol gets praises for performance in MY NAME IS KHAN!

We have all heard about the movie which will pair the golden couple of the film industry Shahrukh Khan and Kajol after a decade, named MY NAME IS KHAN! Well this time its Priety Zinta who went on praising Kajol in delhi as she is the Brand ambassador of Dabur Vatika.

“I saw some of the film’s (My Name Is Khan) footage and she is outstanding in it and so is Shahrukh and I think it will be great movie. She even said that nobody could have done the role better than Kajol.(PTI). “Look at Kajol. She goes and gets married, has a kid.

Almost every actress in few decades ago use to bid good bye to the film industry once they tied knot but the concept has changed completely in today’s time. Marriage doesn’t mean an end to the filmy career! It means to put a break for sometime till your child needs you and then come with a bang and hit the screen as we have seen in case of Kajol, the black beauty of the film industry.

We wish her all the best with her film and hope the golden duo creates that same magic as we have seen in Baazigar, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gum.

Fans must be waiting desperately for MY NAME IS KHAN.

Fans miss Bollywood at IPL opening

Where was the Bollywood entertainment or "taste of India" that the Indian Premier League had promised repeatedly in the run-up to the official opening of the tournament in Cape Town on Saturday (April 18) night?

That was the question on the lips of many Bollywood fans at the colourful ceremony at a packed Sahara Newlands Stadium here, as a host of artists entertained the crowd with items as diverse as traditional drums from both countries and circus acts from Europe entertained them.

But the closest sign of anything Bollywood or Indian on the field, besides the teams, was a tabla being played by a South African artist accompanying the traditional African dancers on their drums.

Even the music featured in all the entertainment items did not have any Bollywood music in it.

Fans did get repeated glimpses of Bollywood stars and team owners Shah Rukh Khan and Shilpa Shetty on the big screens during the two matches, including the disappointment on Shilpa's face as she watched, together with her mother and sister from the suites, how the chances of her Rajasthani Royals team defending its title slipped away from the Bangalore Royal Challengers.

Shah Rukh was shown with his wife Gauri and their two children, at times Shah Rukh doting over his son as the latter made comments about the game.

But that was the closest that the fans got to see of Bollywood.

Off the field, there were very short interviews on television with the first two winners in the search to find the next new face of Bollywood from among South African girls.

The young women, identified by the interviewer only as Raeesa and Tasneem, both from Cape Town, just gave monosyllabic answers to the questions posed by him as they admitted to being Shah Rukh Khan fans and being "nervous" or "wow" about the possibility of starring in a movie with him.

A total of 50 winners will be chosen from the crowds at every one of the eight venues around the country that are to host IPL matches.

One finalist from each venue will be chosen, leaving eight winners to be hosted and feted at The Wanderers in Johannesburg at the final of the IPL 2009 tournament on May 24. The ultimate winner will be announced during the final.

IPL fans worldwide will also be able to cast their votes for the winner via the IPL website.

SRK eyes an Oscar now

Shah Rukh Khan had earlier claimed to the media that he did not feel bad about rejecting “Slumdog Millionaire”, which later went to Anil Kapoor, but he is dejected about the Oscar glory that came the film’s way.

Now it seems that he has changed his mind for the better and wants to do cinema which potential to make it big internationally.

And good friend Preity Zinta has got a good advice for him. It seems Preity told SRK that she will be teaming up with Indian-Canadian filmmaker Deepa Mehta for her next film.

SRK immediately told Preity to invite her to South Africa for the IPL matches, as he could not meet her when Deepa was in Mumbai. He wants to make up for it and also wants to discuss movies that will reach him to the Oscars!

Shahrukh, Preity to add glamour to Congress campaign

In an election bereft of substantive issues rousing the voters or polarising the parties, Bollywood stars are expected to draw crowds and generate some excitement.

Every star has a following and can bring in the crowds. That is possibly the reason that the Congress party has decided to rope in the services of popular Hindi and South film stars to deliver political dialogues by reading campaign “script” for it in the forthcoming elections.

Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta will canvass for the Congress party in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls.

Asked if Khan and Preity will be able to campaign following the busy IPL schedule, Union Minister of State for Home and Congress’ third-time candidate Prakash Jaiswal said they will spare time for the purpose.

Bhojpuri actress Nagma, who had plans to test the political waters and sought a ticket from Congress, will now campaign for the party as she did in the last general elections. From being linked with Saurav Ganguly, Ravi Kishan to Dawood Ibrahim, Nagma’s personal life has brought her more fame than her professional life. Obviously, she is expected to draw more crowds than the Congress candidates she is going to campaign for.

According to the magazine Chitramala, another south hottie Trisha is also going to campaign for Congress. The Congress party is serious on adding more glamour for the party and its campaign and has hired Trisha by paying around Rs 2 crore for a 20 day call sheet. She has signed on the agreement and will be readying to campaign.

South actor Nagarjuna too has said he’ll appeal to all his fans to support Congress.

Faced with a tough election ahead, the Congress is also banking on the popularity of the oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire song “Jai Ho..” The Congress has bought the rights of the award-winning song from T-series and is set to use it appropriately once its election campaign gets underway.

Earlier, in last year’s Gujarat Assembly elections, the runaway success of the Shahrukh Khan starrer “Chak De” had inspired the Congress to borrow the film title for its campaign in the state. ”Chak De Congress” posters were splashed liberally across the state during the election.

It’s a different matter that the popularity of the film failed to fetch any dividends for the Congress, which was routed by the BJP.

“I am the luck factor for Temptation,” says Preity

On the eve of the Temptation Reloaded Tour, due to some mismanagement, the highly publicized Shah Rukh Khan concert in Germany and Spain were called off. Preity talks about her “luck factor” and her great rapport with buddy Shah Rukh.

‘I am the luck factor’… and that’s what has worked for the super success of the Unforgettable Tour and the first edition of the Temptation tour according to the pretty Preity Zinta! While the world touted the two tour’s; one headed by the Big Bachchan and the other by the King Khan, as a camp against each other, we have Preity Zinta who has been an integral part of both.

We got talking to the vibrant actress and in her chirpy Zinta style she added, “I had some great times during both the tours but it was party time on board the Temptation tour with Shah Rukh, Saif and Arjun Rampal. We used to party like crazy.”

While Karan Johar was deemed as someone with one foot in the Amitabh Bachchan camp and the other in Shah Rukh Khan’s camp, here’s the Zinta girl who seems to be straddling the two camps and is loved and adored by both sides equally.

Incidentally, Preity was amongst the few who were invited to grace the Abhi-Ash wedding. And while Jaya Bachchan has announced that Preity Zinta is her favourite actress of this day and age, the Bachchan bahu Aishwarya personally took care of Preity during the Unforgettable Tour. Ash made sure that Preity was comfortable and had her favourite food on the menu.

On the other hand, Preity and Shahrukh were spotted at the IPL holding hands, acting as a support system to each other and sharing a strong camaraderie. Preity remarked, “If there’s one person I can call up at anytime and ask for help, it is Shahrukh Khan.”

With all this and more to her, Preity has certainly emerged as an intelligent businesswoman who knows the tricks of the trade.

Shahrukh Khan pays tribute to yesteryear superstars

We were the first to tell you that Shah Rukh Khan will be paying a tribute to five yesteryear superstars in a 12-minute-long special song in Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. And to make the song bigger, Aditya Chopra has decided to include four top actresses to join Shah Rukh in the song.

After Kajol who was the first actress to be finalised to be part of the ambitious song, Aditya Chopra has also signed Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra for the song. The actresses will pay a tribute to yesteryear actresses like Nargis, Sharmila Tagore, Waheeda Rehman and others.

A source said, "Aditya had already recorded the song some months ago with Sonu Nigam. In the song, Shah Rukh Khan pays a tribute to actors like Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna and Rishi Kapoor. And the song will pay not only pay a tribute to the yesteryear actors and actresses but also famous singers. Sonu, who has sung the song, has paid a tribute to legendary singers like Mukesh, Rafi and Jolly Mukherjee."

"Now Yash Raj Films has also signed Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra to star with Shah Rukh in the song. These leading ladies will be paying a tribute to some of the most talented actresses like Nargis, Waheeda Rehman and Sharmila Tagore. The song is one the biggest highlights of the film. The song is composed by Salim-Suleiman," added the source.

When contacted, Monica Bhatacharya, the official spokesperson of Yash Raj Films said, "Yes, some of the people you mentioned are doing something in the film. But we would not like to disclose who they are or what exactly are they doing in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi."

One Dil Se, table pe!

SRK, Gauri, K-Jo and Preity Zinta do a Chhaiya Chhaiya on table tops at a Colaba nightspot.

Shah Rukh Khan sure knows how to party. On Friday night, after attending Anil Deshmukh’s wedding reception at the Turf Club, Shah Rukh, Gauri, Preity Zinta and Karan Johar headed to Prive and partied till the wee hours of the morning.

Says an eyewitness, “Shah Rukh and Gauri came with their gang of close friends comprising Karan Johar, Kajal Anand, Preity Zinta, Mehr Jessia, Manish Malhotra, Maheep and Sanjay Kapoor among others.

They came in directly after attending Riteish’s brother Amit’s reception, followed by dinner at Tetsuma. SRK, Gauri, Karan, and Preity were having a blast. They were in good spirits and towards the end they all ended up dancing on table tops!”

Superb time

The other revellers at the venue were impressed by the down-to-earth Khan. Says a member of SRK’s group who didn’t wish to be named, “We had a fabulous time. Karan, Gauri, SRK and Preity danced on the tables to a mixture of English and Hindi music with the rest of the group cheering them on.

SRK and Gauri sure know how to make a party come alive. After Amit’s reception we all decided to party and that’s how we landed up at Prive. It was good fun.”

Adds the member, “Normally SRK and Karan don’t go to this part of the city and the crowds were thrilled to have them amongst them. No one bothered them for autographs or photographs. They just watched them letting their hair down and enjoying themselves.

Karan was dancing the maximum. He was recovering from a throat infection and was partying after a long time. The group only left when Prive was shutting its doors at 3 am. None of them wanted to leave.”

Can’t say

Sanjay Kapoor, who was also present, refuses to give out details.

He says, “We were all having a great time so I don’t remember who was dancing on the tables. We went together for Amit’s wedding and met Preity there. Then we headed to Tetsuma and ended up at Prive.”

Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan to co-star in film directed by Aditya Chopra

Following the poor showing of the films produced under his banner in 2007 producer Aditya Chopra is pulling out all stops and rolling up his sleeves to direct his own film starring...

..Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan in lead roles.

Last year, other than Chak De! India, other films from Aditya Chopra Productions - Ta Ra Rum Pum, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Aaja Nachle all bit the dust at the box office, seriously denting the reputation of a banner once reputed to have the Midas touch.

Aditya Chopra has in the past directed two films both runaway hits - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) and Mohabbatein (2000).

Since he built his formidable reputation directing romantic films, Aditya is sticking with the genre but his new film will be laced with action and humor.

Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta, both banner favorites, are expected to be part of the project which will be shot in Greece Australia and Dubai, reports HT.

Chopra who is currently readying the final draft of the film hopes to start pre-production work in March so as to start wielding the megaphone by June - July.

Both Shah Rukh and Hrithik have plenty of free dates on their calendar as do Rani and Preity.

Preity Women is in love with Shah Rukh Khan

According to sources, pretty actress Preity Zinta is in love with the character Shah Rukh played in Chak De! India . Preity was all praise for SRK starrer after she cleverly got away from the theatre in her burkha.

Says Preity, “The movie has elevated patriotism to a higher level, it's given energy a new meaning and youth a new direction.”

Preity could not control her honest opinions and praises about King Khan as she said, “He is mind blowing, too good to express in words, and I just love him.” We are sure Gauri Khan will ignore this as one off.

"He is mind blowing, too good to express in words, and I just love him," Preity Zinta

Mallika Sherawat famously wore one last year to dodge the media when she was coming out of the airport in Mumbai from a foreign jaunt.

And singer Himesh Reshamiyya daringly got into one last month to slip into the Ajmer Sharif dargah incognito. We are talking about the burkha.

Which the attractive Preity Zinta wore on Independence Day eve so as not to attract attention when she went into a Bandra cinema hall to see Shah Rukh Khan’s hit movie Chak De India with the junta.

Preity tells the story, “I could have seen the movie in the safety and comfort of a multiplex, but to gauge the reaction of the audience, I had to sit among the masses.

I went along with my mom and cousin, hidden in a burkha, and because nobody could see me, I was at my buoyant best!”

According to the vivacious actress, in her disguise, she was able to scream, whistle and cheer along with the audience for SRK and his team of women hockey players in the movie.

There were other women in burkhas as well among the audience, so she got away with it. Says Preity, “The movie has elevated patriotism to a higher level, it’s given energy a new meaning and youth a new direction.”

Coming from someone who is at the top of the Bollywood heap herself, and who made her debut with SRK in Dil Se, this is high and handsome praise indeed.

The two acted in a few more successful movies together, like Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Veer Zara and Kal Ho Na Ho. But Preity believes the Bollywood Badshah’s performance in Chak De India is his finest so far. “He is mind blowing, too good to express in words, and I just love him,” adds Preity. “

It’s rare for an actress to openly admit such feelings for a male co-star. And Preity unburdened these emotions on the man himself which SRK, in all his humility, accepted.

But then, Preity Zinta is known to be outspoken and honest, if not to wear her heart on her sleeve. Ness Wadia and Gauri Khan to please note.
