Berlin salutes My Name is Khan

While Mumbai braved the Shiv Sena to catch My Name is Khan in theatres on Friday, Berlin residents braved sub-zero temperatures to book their tickets.

Fans of Shah Rukh Khan also waited for the actor, who was accompanied by his co-star Kajol and the film's director, Karan Johar, at the 60th Berlinale International Film Festival.

Fans, young and old, held pictures of their favourite star and mobbed the actor at the red carpet.

Proof of the actor's popularity was evident when online tickets for My Name is Khan were sold out in five seconds before dawn and were reportedly auctioned on ebay at 1,000 euros (Rs 60,000) each.

Overcome by such an enthusiastic welcome, the actor praised the organisers of the Berlin International Film Festival and his fans alike.

The film is already scaling the US box office charts, and doing very well overseas.
