Om Shanti Om: Pyarelal tunes it right

The talent of music maestro Pyarelal, of the legendary Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo, reached new heights in Farah Khan's new film Om Shanti Om.
In 1980, Subhash Ghai's Karz starring Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim was a hit with chartbusting music by top music directors Laxmikant-Pyarelal and a plotline about reincarnation and revenge.
Now Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om uses not only the same theme but also the actual making of Karz as the backdrop of her film starring Shahrukh Khan and Dipika Padukone.
OSO's musical score written by Vishal-Shekhar also has Pyarelal from the original team contributing a number.
"We had gone to Yash Chopra's house for the recording of Om Shanti Om. Vishal and Shekar were present. After some discussions they asked me to record one song for the film," said Pyarelal, Music Director.
In keeping with the film-within-a-film theme Farah Khan has ingeniously given OSO's music a retro twist harking back to the psychedelic 70s.
The title track of Farah's film, composed by Pyarelal, is a clever piece of filming, not to mention a star studded one.
Expect to see practically every star in the film fraternity joining in to shake it with the lead pair.
