SRK and Hrithik in a film together

Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan together look fabulous on-screen. Whatever role they portray together, they look dynamic and entertain audience to the fullest. They made a long time impression on people’s mind when they had enacted siblings in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. Zoya Akhtar, sister of Farhan Akhtar has again roped the vibrant duo for her next flick Luck By Chance.

Like Om Shanti Om, Zoya has also signed a group of Bollywood stars for doing small cameo in her film and top in the list of cameos is Shahrukh Khan. King Khan has already given his dates for the special role and reportedly, he will play himself in the film while Hrithik will play the role of a struggling actor who turns envious when his favorite role goes to Farhan Akhtar. Karan Johar will be seen in the role of fictional director.

Other cameos will be done by Juhi Chawla, Rishi Kapoor, Konkona Sen, Ishaa Sherwani and Dimple Kapadia.

Shah Rukh and Ravi Chandran unite...again

Though their first project, PAHELI, may have been one of those rare ones from Shah Rukh Khan that disappointed at the box-office, it was the film that brought about the association of King Khan and ace cinematographer, Ravi K. Chandran.

The film will be remembered for its special effects and superb cinematography. Ravi was instrumental in bringing to life the brilliant and vibrant colours of Rajasthan on celluloid through his photography and thus made PAHELI a visual treat.

So, why are we talking about a film that released way back in 2005? Well, the good news is that Ravi K. Chandran will once again unleash his magical camera work in two of the most awaited films, both featuring Bollywood's global superstar, Shah Rukh Khan. The first film is already under production and yes, you have guessed it right, it is Aditya Chopra's highly anticipated RAB NE BANA DI JODI, and the second one is Karan Johar's next directorial venture, MY NAME IS KHAN.

While RAB NE BANA DI JODI will be Chandran's third film for Yash Raj after MUJHSE DOSTI KAROGE and FANAA, this will be for the first time that he will be working with Karan Johar.

SRK's new TV commercial

What is it that drives you to live life on your own terms; to be so passionate about that “something” which ignites your otherwise silent eyes?

Is it that noiseless but arduous obsession to be an absolute unique? Or, is it that fervent desire to be second to none?

Maybe, you are still awaiting the answer. Maybe, you already have it but are beyond all expressions, living the answer… sheltered within the womb of an intense feel.

Shah Rukh is all calm and poised, sitting in his half lit study, wondering what exactly it is that drives him to be what he is. He meditates over the thought and tries to satiate his soul with varied answers. He tries to find a clue to that “driving element” within his closed self which helps him reach his every passionate desire.

As he sits pondering over his thoughts, his musings evolve into a passionate monologue and finally he finds the answer - answer to that question which was otherwise left unattended.

And finally Khan declares the truth which states that human drive cannot be understood… it can only be felt, rather, it has to be felt. He says, "I don't know what drives me. I can't explain it, but I can feel it. When I walk under the lights, when the camera comes on, I can feel it. Every moment I live."

Review: ICICI Group Global Private Clients (GPC) wanted to reach out to all those 30+ SEC A++ successful males, having upwards of $1 million net investments with ICICI.

So it chose to launch this new commercial with brand ambassador SRK, skewed only towards those who desire to see those “millions” in their accounts. And, Ad Pick believes that ICICI has actually hit the bull’s eye.

The energy and innovation, which Khan represents coupled with his popularity, definitely makes him the ideal choice for this ad. Also, the mood that the TVC delivers is absolutely classy, like SRK…thus, talking to only those “successful” gentlemen who vouch upon their inner drive to excel.

Since this ad targets a niche market, it really does not have to worry about the universal appeal factor. And consequently, the target hit rate graph definitely rises higher.

Also, the TVC, coming from the house of DraftFCB Ulka, highly encapsulates the way in which ICICI Group GPC positions itself in the market, “demystifying an elite client's stated or unstated needs and constantly striving to fulfill them.”

Well done people.

Really some “classy” work there.

Congratulations DraftFCB Ulka!!!

SRK turns content provider

Shah Rukh Khan started his acting career in television before moving on to Bollywood. He came a full circle to the medium that first gave him recognition by anchoring game shows Kaun Banega Crororepati and Aap Panchvi Pass Se Teez Hai on Star Plus.

Now, the King of Bollywood is all set to take his association with television one step further, by producing entertainment and lifestyle programmes.

SPICING IT UP

# Shah Rukh Khan launched Red Chillies Entertainment in 2004 after the venture Dreamz Unlimited with actor Juhi Chawla did not churn successful films

# Red Chillies Entertainment is all set to produce content for lifestyle channel E24

# E24 is owned by BAG Films & Media, whose chief is Anuradha Prasad, the wife of vice-president of the Indian cricket board, Rajiv Shukla

# Red Chillies Entertainment produced the mega hit 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Main Hoon Na', while its 'Kaal' and 'Paheli' were flop

Khan's company Red Chillies Entertainment, is tying up with lifestyle channel E24 to provide them content. Sources say that Khan's company is close to finalizing concepts for some of the shows. E24 is owned by BAG Films & Media, a listed media house, whose chief is Anuradha Prasad, the wife of vice-president of the Indian cricket board, Rajiv Shukla.

However, when contacted, Prasad, chairman and managing director of BAG Films & Media declined to comment on the association. Bag Films & Media runs its non-news channels such as E24 under a separate company BAG Glamour, while the news channel is run through BAG Newsline. Last year, Khan and his wife Gauri bought 10 per cent stake in BAG Glamour in their personal capacity.

The other investors in BAG Glamour are IndiaBulls' promoter Sameer Gehlaut (15 per cent), Kolkata-based private investor High Growth (15 per cent), and the remaining 60 per cent is held by the parent company and promoters.

The actor has made some tentative moves to build a footprint in the entertainment and media business but with limited success. He launched Red Chillies Entertainment in 2004 after the venture Dreamz Unlimited with actor Juhi Chawla did not churn successful films.

Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and the big budget periodic film Asoka released under Dreamz Unlimited flopped at the box-office. While Red Chillies Entertainment produced the mega hit Main Hoon Na, the company's next two films 'Kaal' and 'Paheli' in 2005 were non-drawers.

Khan's production house hit jackpot with 'Om Shanti Om' in 2007, when he managed to sell the worldwide distribution rights of the movie for over Rs 74 crore to Eros International.

‘I want to cut Shah Rukh’s hair’

Director Priyadarshan has adapted the story from Lord Krishna’s friendship with Sudama. Billoo Barber is the story of two friends, one rich and the other a poor villager. While SRK plays the rich superstar, Irrfan is the village barber. The two are friends from school who grow up and drift apart until they meet again. Says Irrfan, “It’ll be a pleasure to work with Shah Rukh Khan. We haven’t shot together yet. But I must admit, I want to cut Shah Rukh’s hair in the film! I hope Priyadarshan adds a scene where I get to do so.”

If SRK will be seen romancing three hotties like Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, Irrfan has the lovely and sexy Lara Dutta as his wife. Tabu and Ameesha were earlier approached for the role, but Lara proved to be the lucky one. “I always fancied working with Lara. I knew she has great potential and needed a good director to bring it to the fore. She is very intelligent, pretty and has strong views,” he says.

Shah Rukh's London Dreams

Shah Rukh Khan loves going where no one else has managed to. After having bought a palatial home Mannat in Bandra for himself (it is so huge that by his own admission, he hasn’t seen the entire house as yet, even after years of moving in), now the buzz is that King Khan has bought himself an entire six-storey building in London. According to sources, SRK”s building is in the hip Park Street area of the city.

Khan had earlier expressed a desire to own a house in London as he simply loves the British capital. He had said, “I don’t like America. I love London as I feel at home there. People say the English are very cold and unfriendly, but I find them amazingly warm. I love walking in London. To me London is the hub of the world and anyone doing well there is a top notch achiever.” SRK had also earlier expressed a desire to open an office in London to start making films with English technicians. So, it is not certain whether SRK will use the building as a branch of his production company, Red Chillies Pvt Ltd, or use it to stay, whenever he visits his beloved city.

According to sources, a six-storey structure in the much coveted Park Street would set one back by at least 8 million to 10 million pounds (Rs 72 cr-90 cr).

SRK demands an apology

In a reply to a legal notice sent to him by a jail inmate, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has said that it is nothing more than a gimmick to gain cheap publicity and extract money from him.

His comments came in context of the allegations put forward by the jail inmate that he fell ill after using a talcum powder endorsed by the actor.

On June 5, Anjum Ansari, brother of Gateway blast case accused Ashrat Ansari, had sent a legal notice to Shah Rukh and the manufacturers of a popular talcum powder brand claiming that Ashrat had used the powder in jail and had taken ill.

According to Anjum, Ashrat had used the powder in jail and had initially felt a cool sensation. ''However, after sometime Ashrat's whole body started itching and he felt a burning sensation,'' Ashrat's advocate Sushan Kunjuraman said.

Anjum has said that Shah Rukh has been irresponsible in endorsing the product and had caused physical and mental pain to Ashrat.

In his reply, Shah Rukh's advocates have wondered how Ashrat had used the talcum powder when such products are banned in jail.

Moreover, they said that the allegations were baseless and frivolous as the product has been tested and licensed fit for use by the appropriate government agencies.

Shah Rukh has demanded an apology from Anjum within a week or else his lawyers would sue Anjum and Ashrat for defaming him.

RAB NE BANA DI JODI: No profit sharing for SRK!

After his European sojourn, Shah Rukh Khan is back in Bombay. He has resumed the shooting of Aditya Chopra's RAB NE BANA DI JODI, the project that brings back Aditya to the director's chair after a gap of almost eight years. The film that also features newcomer Anushka Sharma and actor Vinay Pathak, in an important role, is progressing briskly and on schedule.

While on RAB NE BANA DI JODI, unlike the popular perception, Shah Rukh Khan has not demanded a share in the profits from Yash and Aditya Chopra. In fact, as usual King Khan has not even discussed money matters with the Chopras.

For those who are not aware, Bollywood's global superstar far too understands to talk about his price when it comes to film makers like Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar, whom he considers as family. The fictitious stories about Shah Rukh Khan making big demands from Yash/Aditya Chopra for RAB NE BANA DI JODI and also from Karan Johar for KHAN are all a figment of the media's imagination!

Shah Rukh is part of my film, says Aziz Mirza

Shah Rukh Khan is known to go out of his way for old friends be it making special appearances in their films, giving them surprise gifts, or working for a nominal amount in their projects. On Monday night, the actor rushed to meet his mentor Aziz Mirza (who gave SRK his big break with Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman) the moment he returned from London.

Shah Rukh who was never supposed to be a part of Mirza’s Shahid Kapur-Vidya Balan starrer Kismat Konnection has done a voiceover for the film.

Incidentally, Mirza earlier wanted Juhi Chawla, who plays a crystal ball reader in the film, to do the voiceover.

When asked about Shah Rukh’s part in Kismat Konnection, Mirza said, "Yes, I’m proud to say that Shah Rukh is part of my film. One thing I’m very confident about is that he will be there for me anytime I need him.

He will never say no to me. I needed him to do the voiceover for my film and he immediately agreed.”

As for him wanting Juhi to do the voiceover, Mirza said, “Earlier, I thought Juhi should do the voiceover since she plays a crystal ball reader who discusses life and destiny.”

But, things did not work out with Juhi as she felt that the visuals were too strong for a woman’s voice. That’s when Mirza called Shah Rukh.

Mirza added, “Shah Rukh had just landed from London when he rushed to do the voiceover for Kismat Konnection on Monday night at around 1.30 am. He completed the entire voiceover in no time at all.

That boy has an amazing energy level! I’m very fortunate to have Shah Rukh, Juhi and now Vidya and Shahid in my life. They’re all my kids.”
