Happy Birthday, Kajol!

It’s Kajol’s birthday today and the dusky beauty is beaming with the joy of motherhood once again. Presently expecting her second baby (she already has a daughter named Nysa), Kajol says this birthday is special because her life and her career are going great guns.

The success of My Name Is Khan has put Kajol’s sagging career back on track and the curiosity that’s building around her upcoming release We Are Family would flatter any actress who’s in her mid thirties. Remember, in Bollywood, an actress’s career is cut short the day she outgrows the lovely twenties.

This birthday, Kajol is getting a special gift from good friend Karan Johar. It’s Karan’s home production We Are Family which will release on September 3, less than a month from her birthday. And of course, her loving hubby Ajay Devgan, and no less loving in-laws, have something planned for the birthday lady.

We wish Kajol a very happy birthday.

Sukhwinder sings for Shahrukh Khan

Playback singer Sukhwinder Singh has recorded a song to be lip-synched by Shah Rukh Khan in Ra.One. This is Singh’s third song for Khan in 13 years. Chaiyya chaiyya (Dil Se..) and Haule haule (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi) were chartbusters.

Would this song hit high notes too? “I’m not an astrologer, so I can’t predict that. With my experience as a playback singer for the last 15-16 years, I know that this song, like the previous two, matches Shah Rukh’s personality and might become synonymous with Ra.One,” asserts Singh.

The song has been composed by South stalwart Ilayaraja. “It’s the first time in my career that I recorded a song for nine hours, non-stop. The song is worth our effort because it sounds fresh and different from the work I’ve done lately. It’s quite subdued,” Singh adds.

Singh also recorded the title track for Chak De! India, which featured Shah Rukh Khan but he didn’t lip-sync it. The playback singer is not disappointed. “The song was filmed in such a way that it still had Shah Rukh’s energy and the enthusiasm of the girls in the hockey team. It was their anthem. Had it been picturised only on Shah Rukh, it wouldn’t have translated well on screen and the country-wide impact the song made would have been lost,” explains Singh.

So, which South stalwart does he prefer: Oscar-winner AR Rahman or Ilayaraja? Singh answers diplomatically, “It’s unfair to compare their style of working or their compositions. I’ve worked closely with Rahman and he hasn’t changed as a person and professional. Ilayaraja is someone I learnt tremendously from in the course of this song.”

Singh, popular for his high-pitched numbers, was expected to be present for the launch of the Rafi Academy in the city on the weekend. “I’m a Rafi fan. On Saturday, I was stuck somewhere and couldn’t make it to the launch,” he grouses. “I’m happy that his son has opened an avenue for youngsters to learn music and learn about the rare gem, Mohd Rafi.”

Shahrukh Khan's food secrets

London’s ES magazine got Shah Rukh Khan to share all his favourite food secrets with them. Did you know he is guilty of drinking 40 cups of black coffee a day? Talk about a caffeine high. Another thing he is addicted to is tandoori chicken. Apparently SRK can eat it 365 days a year. He complained that his cooks sometimes get so bored of only cooking tandoori chicken, that they quit. Now this is hard to believe. How can you get bored of spending quality time in SRK’s home?

While he can eat his favourite chicken dish for every meal, the actor reveals that he isn’t a fan of seafood and dislikes lobsters. Since he is from North India, he says he is a hard-core meat eater and his earliest memory of food is the yummy raan that his dad would make for them.

If you are an SRK fan and are dying to get a glimpse of him, better take note of his favourite restaurants as you might just catch this foodie enjoying a meal there. He loves China White in Mumbai for the Indian style Chinese they serve, in London it’s the Japanese restaurant Nobu, in New York he loves Buddha Bar for its atmosphere, and Kittichai in Soho for its Thai food. And he loves McDonald’s too.

Those of you who are dying to have a glimpse of Shahrukh Khan's much-hyped film Ra.One, here is something that you should not miss. The Baadshah of Bollywood posted a stunning car-crash scene of the film on his Twitter page.

Shahrukh hinted that his co-star Kareena Kapoor is involved in this particular car-crash scene. “Not allowing Kareena to drive anymore...licence revoked national & international,” he tweeted.

Ra.One is a science-fiction superhero film directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment. It is scheduled for release early next year.

SRK to learn a thing or two from Shahana!

Shahrukh Khan has been in the Film Industry since very long. He is a source of inspiration for many actors who learn a lot from him. But did you know that SRK too learns from his co-stars? That's right. The actor recently was all praise for his RA.ONE co-star Shahana Goswami.

Shahrukh wrote on a micro blogging site, "looking forward to shooting with shahana...i think she is a very very fine actor...will learn a few things from her for sure."

For the uninitiated, Shahana plays Shahrukh's colleague in RA.ONE. She is a video game designer like him in the film. The actors are currently shooting in London.

Shahrukh’s new coterie

Shah Rukh Khan is undoubtedly one of the mightiest personalities in the Indian film industry today, no wonder then, that the Khan has his number of foes directly proportional to his number of friends. But seems King Khan is on an agenda to turn his foes into friends now. And why not? After all the friendship spirit is already in the air!

Recently, SRK and Aamir were spotted dining together in London, thereby strengthening their not too string bond. That the two mighty Khans had fallen out badly is not new to anyone. However, things have changed a lot in the past few months.

Also, Shah Rukh has initiated a conversation with Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray, with whom the Khan had a tiff during the release of ‘My Name Is Khan’. SRK wished Uddhav happy birthday which was published in Shiv Sena mouthpiece, Saamna.

It clearly seems that SRK doesn’t want to carry the baggage of sour relationships with him anymore. Earlier, the Baadshah of Bollywood buried the hatchet with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan. Only time will tell if he adopts the same funda with friend-turned-foe Salman too.

Karan’s loyalties are still with SRK!

Media reports on Karan Johar’s fleeting friendships with Salman Khan and Aamir Khan make for amusing reading.

However, Karan himself who loves Shah Rukh Khan to death knows that his unflinching loyalties lie only with the Bollywood Badshah. Whether it is handling the second unit for SRK’s RA One in London like he did recently or whether it is just spending quality time with Shah Rukh chatting about the sun, moon and movies, Karan will go to any lengths to juggle his dates diary and be there for SRK.

Incidentally, Karan’s next directorial venture is also likely to be produced by SRK and him just like My Name Is Khan was.

Shahrukh Khan - Home is where the heart is!

The King of bollywood, Shahrukh Khan, who is almost on the run 24x 7, has always tried to keep up some time for his family. The busy star has always tried to pack in his busy schedule some significant time slots to devote to his family.

His most precious time spent with his family has been for the public to see when he would inevitably have his wife Gauri and kids Suhana and Aryan right by his side, enjoying the IPL matches of the ‘Kolkata Knight Riders’ a team of which he is a co- owner, with full fervor!

Recently, SRK had made a special plan to take his family for a summer holiday, and even managed to catch up with the FIFA World Cup finals with them.

However, all good things do come to end, and now SRK is back to work with a vengeance. Thus, after the relaxed phase, he is on a tight shooting schedule, trying to finish off his shooting schedule of his home production ‘RA. ONE’, right on time.

His wife and kids have gone back due to the kid’s school and all that. But, does SRK miss that entire home sweet home syndrome?

Surpringly, it is a big Yes! Shahrukh Khan, the super star, has admittedly been quoted by tabloids as agreeing to the fact that he is a full on family man. He just loves to spend time with his wife and kids. He also is said to be very thankful to Gauri, for imparting some very great values in his kids.

SRK is well aware that, had it not been for his wife, he would never have made it to the top of the league of stars. This super star is all humble and gracious, he does agree that even for a super star like him – ‘Home is where the heart is’!

Shahrukh Khan in a fix for a change

Shahrukh Khan otherwise always a confident personality was lately put to confusion by media. Yes, SRK in a recent interaction with the media went into a very confused state when latter questioned him about the similarity in the pronunciation of Ra.One and Abhishek-Ash starrer Raavan.

Despite the two different aspects on which these two films are built upon, media kept up with the same question and SRK for a change was with a blank face. Ra.One while is a science fiction and on the other hand, Raavan was a modern take on epic Ramayana.

Nothing about Ra.One and Raavan is similar apart from the elocution of the titles. Hope, box-office collections too are dissimilar like other aspects apart from titles are.
