Don’t I look sexy: Shahrukh Khan

Ra.One has done a ‘fat’ lot of good for Shahrukh Khan, literally speaking. The actor who had to slip into a special skin-tight suit to play a superhero during the filming of the sci-fi thriller is looking remarkably slim and fit nowadays.

Recently, while attending an event along with wife Gauri Khan - where the duo was announced the brand ambassadors of D-Decor furnishings - SRK looked younger and in much better shape than before.

When pointed out by a scribe that he had lost weight, SRK riposted: “Don’t I look sexy though”.

SRK entertained the gathering with his witticisms. While apologizing for his late arrival at the event, he said somewhat bombastically: “I’m not a small star to come on time.”

Shahrukh Khan refuses to play Lalit Modi

Percept Picture Company is going to come up with its next project titled Commissioner, which is based on the life of Indian Premiere League chairman Lalit Modi, seen from the eyes of a journalist. Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan was reportedly offered to play Lalit Modi’s role in the movie and he allegedly rejected the offer in spite of getting a personal request from Modi himself.

Apparently, SRK does not want to get into any controversy as he is an important part of IPL. He is probably trying to keep himself away from any controversy related to Modi. A source was quoted stating that everything was fine on the IPL front when the movie was announced but things changed following the recent controversy on Lalit Modi.

Shailendra Singh, the Joint MD of Percept, who is also the producer of Commissioner, confirmed that Shahrukh was approached to play the role of Lalit Modi. He added that SRK denied even when Lalit Modi himself asked him to take it up. Singh also said that Shahrukh is very busy and too involved with Ra One, which is his home production.

As per the latest developments, Ajay Devgn has been offered to play the role now. Confirming this Singh said that Ajay has been sent feelers and they would love to have him. He added that the investment team is ready and they are committed to make this movie.

In fact, Irfan Khan was also said to have been approached for the role. Apart from actors, the film has also switched hands in directorial part too. Initially, Madhur Bhandarkar was approached for directing the movie but he did not want to take up this controversial project. Now, Shamin Desai has been finalized to direct the movie, the source added.

Well, we will soon get to know who will plays Lalit Modi, hopefully this movie does not raise any kind of controversies!

I’ll slap the person who talks rubbish about SRK and me: Karan Johar

Every artist in showbiz is kept under a microscope by his fans and the media as it is after all they who make an artist a celebrity by acknowledging his talent. It thus becomes imperative for the celebrity to silence their curiosity, no matter how personal or annoying it is!

Karan Johar’s sexual preference and personal life is often a topic of interest. The filmmaker even gets posts addressed to him on his microblogging site asking the same! Rumours of his alleged ‘close’ relationship with SRK too keep floating around in social circles and media.

Though KJO or SRK do not pay heed to the unflattering things said about their friendship, or at times make fun of the news themselves KJO couldn’t help but retort to the journalist who dared to ask him a question on it.

“Shah Rukh is like my elder brother. He is seven years older than me. I respect him the way I respect my parents. I am closer to his wife Gauri. I have worked with Shah Rukh the most as a filmmaker. If it wasn’t for him and Aditya Chopra, I wouldn’t be what I am today. So those who think of my friendship with SRK as something else are just sick! I’d slap such people if they come in front of me” said Karan to a journalist in a TV interview.

SRK’s the man, say producers

Shah Rukh Khan is set to become the first actor who is being considered to be in the core committee of the film industry's Producers' Association.

BT learned from reliable sources, that the producers will be suggesting that SRK be made part of a heavyweight, decision-making body that will look at keeping them unified and address issues that filmmakers across India face. The Bollywood Badshah's inclusion will be brought up when the producers meet soon to conduct their annual general meeting ( AGM).

"Shah Rukh's contribution in the last two decades is being kept in mind. He has been a successful actor and a producer. He is seen as a marketing wiz and the producers want him to give his inputs on taking the industry to the next level," says a top producer.

"He will be consulted for strategies on how to keep the producers united. The last time they put up a brave front against the multiplex owners over profit sharing and screen timings, some of them broke off the alliance and released their films thereby damaging the unity. The producers do not want a repeat of that and want someone like SRK who could guide them in moments of crisis," the highly placed informer says.
We have heard from sources that Aamir Khan was also being considered to be part of the body alongside SRK. However, since he is quite peeved with the competition commission dragging him to court on charges of forming a cartel during the filmmakers and multiplex owners' strike, Aamir is not too keen to have an authoritative post.

Mukesh Bhatt, the senior vice-president of the Producers' Association, confirms, "All actors who have turned producers are members of the association but have never really held a big office-bearer post. This time, I have indeed heard that Shah Rukh Khan's name is being strongly considered by many producers who will nominate him to hold a key post in the association. We will get a clearer picture during our annual general meeting."

My children are my harshest critics, says Shahrukh Khan

Describing his children as his harshest critics, Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan says he has become a better film actor thanks to them.

Writing in the magazine of The Mail on Sunday on "The Secrets of my success", Khan wrote, "Now I have kids, I enjoy them more than acting, but it''s certain I''ve become a better film actor thanks to them as well.

"They''re my harshest critics. They''re honest and say things like, ''That''s no good; you can do better.'' If you appeal to their honesty, I think you can be a very good actor," he added.

With 70 films to his name, hundreds of millions of fans and 13 Filmfare awards, Bollywood''s equivalent of Oscars, seven of his being for Best Actor, Khan can lay claim to the title of world''s biggest film star, the report said.
As well as being a successful actor, producer and TV presenter, he has fronted the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, and owns the Kolkata Knight Riders, an IPL cricket team.

Khan, 44, wrote he never thought he would be an actor.

"I wanted to be a footballer, but I got injured, and because I had nothing to do in the evenings I started work on a play.

Suddenly my life''s timetable changed, and I began doing theatre; then television came to India, so I did a TV series that did very well. After doing a degree in economics, I went to film school, then went to Mumbai for a year. Just for a laugh and a change of scene, I moved into acting in films."

In his inimical style, Khan added, "When I was young I was even more stupid than I am now. I was very self-absorbed and I really thought I was fantastic - I went as far as writing a song called I''m The Best. It sounds pompous to think of it now, but at that point I really thought I couldn''t fail.

I''d lost my parents, I didn''t have a home, I couldn''t go any lower. So I tackled the world head-on. When you have nothing to lose it means there''s everything to win.

Noting that there''s no secret formula to success, the ace actor wrote, "Life is not about putting everything into place and planning the last detail. No doubt it''ll work fine for you, but it won''t bring magical success."

Focusing on the value of one''s education, Khan added, "I never had a house when I started off, but because I was educated I was able to do a lot. It''s nice to have a rags-to-riches story if you become successful. If your story isn''t that, then nobody likes it. But I''m proud that I now have a house that I''ve provided for my children. I know it sounds a small thing but it means a lot to me."

I am not a small star to come on time bhai, says Shahrukh Khan

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, who along with his wife Gauri Khan attended a press meet held at the hotel Taj Lands End recently and reached the venue good 2-3 hours late.

When he was asked for the reason, first the superstar apologized for being late and then quickly went on to add on light-hearted note, “I am not a small star to come on time bhai.”

At the event, furnishing brand D’décor officially announced SRK and Gauri as their brand ambassador.

However, Gauri left the tabloids high and dry as she did not do much of talking instead let SRK do all the talking.

Though, she did talk only once to make it absolutely clear that just because she’s doing some ad that does not mean she’s entering films.

‘I am too old to become an actress,” said Gauri.

Rest of the talking was done entirely by SRK, where he revealed that Gauri was not even ready to face media but he managed to convince her.

Once SRK reached the venue, he answered all the questions fired by media at him and sometimes even on his wife’s behalf.

The superstar revealed that to feature in the ad film was entirely Gauri’s wish and he did not push her into doing it.

"Gauri did not feature in this Ad for money. It was entirely her decision to do it. She has interest in furnishing. Gauri is perfect homemaker. I respect her decisions. That is what trust and love is all about," SRK added.

He also thanked the furnishing brand for choosing them as their brand ambassador.

"I feel very humble and happy when any company signs me as their brand ambassador and so I am very happy to be part of D'Decor," said SRK.

Ajay Arora, Managing Director D'décor, revealed at the event that SRK and Gauri are “the perfect homemakers and make a perfect family.”

He added, “They stand as role models for millions across the country, with Gauri representing the home proud woman, the very qualities that D Decor sees in its target consumers.”

Shahrukh Khan joined Arjun and Kareena in press meet to promote We Are Family

Shah Rukh Khan has decided he will be part of every Karan Johar production in some capacity or the other. In I Hate LUV Storys, Shah Rukh did a small voiceover. Unfortunately, he couldn't be accommodated anywhere in We Are Family although SRK was quite adamant to feature somehow.

"Ek photo hi daal do kisi shot mein," he kept urging Karan.

Not one to give up even when his wish has gone way past its fulfilment phase, SRK barged in sportingly at a media meet with Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal and insisted on conducting an interview with the pair...

"Just as a good luck charm," as SRK put it.

On Wednesday afternoon SRK just decided to drop in at the venue of the interview and said, "Even I am part of the family. So I'm joining them to promote the film."

Director Siddharth Malhotra can't get over the magic of the moment. "It is such gestures that make Shah Rukh who he is. It is his ability to make people feel special that makes him the superstar and the King."

Siddharth had entered the media meet when he saw an exceptional bustle at the venue. He jokingly asked what the clamour was about.

"SRK aa gaya kya? I asked sarcastically. Imagine my surprise when someone turned around and said that's precisely what has happened and that SRK was doing an interview with Kareena and Arjun for my film."

One now hears that SRK will make his presence felt in all of Karan Johar's films on one way or another.

Says Karan, "Shah Rukh is just about the most generous human being I know."

'Khichdi - The Movie' cast wants Shahrukh Khan's Blessings

They turned up outside the star's house 'Mannat' to meet him

The cast of the popular TV show 'Khichdi', which is now being made into a movie, is seeking the blessings of Shah Rukh Khan who made a successful transition from being a television actor to a Bollywood superstar.

Produced by Hats Off Productions and written and directed by Aatish Kapadia, the film stars actors like Anang Desai, Supriya Pathak and Girish Sahdev.

The big screen adaptation, which is also expected to feature Satish Shah and a special appearance by Farah Khan, will be released by Fox Star Studios on October 1.

The film's cast had apparently written a letter to Shah Rukh and even gathered outside his Bandra house Mannat to release the first look of the film. But Shah Rukh didn't turn up.

The actors too hope that the film is as successful as the series -- just like Shah Rukh, who created a niche for himself with serials like 'Fauji' and 'Circus' and carried it on to the big screen with movies like 'Deewana', 'Darr', 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' and 'Baazigar'.

'Khichdi', the TV show, is best remembered for its simple humour and characters like Hansa, Praful, Babuji, Himanshu and Jayshree.

Shahrukh Khan admires Aamir Khan for his good sense of films

Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan, as and when their names appear together people get indulged in drawing out their comparisons between the two super stars. They are said to be at loggerheads always. Several debates over the question as to who is numero uno of them have taken place but without conclusion. Now when they are getting closer, the gossip mills stand still in the wait of some juicy fodder.

Yes, it is true that the real superstar contest comes to an end with their friendship getting warmer. Both the Khans are drawing nearer to each other at events or through their tweets. Now the gossip mongers will not get the stories on their words of war or of mocking at one another. Two Bollywood Titans have become pals now. They are going to redefine the equation of their relationship.

Shahrukh Khan has employed Hollywood team of technicians to work on the special effects in his upcoming home production “Ra.One”. SRK was wondering over the use of such an advance technology with which they were working. And he wished Aamir to attend to their work on the sets of “Ra One”. Shahrukh Khan says, “It would have been great if Aamir could have made some time to be present on the sets of my film. My only intention was to show that how different and creative we can get as far as the action in our films is concerned. I value Aamir's good sense and would have been glad had he come.”

Aamir has been working with exceptional subjects and is adventurous enough to use the latest technology for the best of his movie. His career speaks out his best works did in Indian film industry. That was the reason SRK called Aamir Khan in UK but he could not attend to his wish. However, King Khan is not complaining at all.

The super Khans first met at Karan Johar’s house though it was official meeting over the current situation of multiplexes. Then they dined together in London. Now both are singing songs in the praise of each other’s work in their respective movies.

Shahrukh Khan is upset with his close friend Arjun Rampal

Didn’t we hear that Shahrukh Khan and Arjun Rampal are thick friends? Yes. But if the latest news is to be believed, they are on the verge of turning foes. It is said that Shahrukh is upset with Arjun’s unprofessional attitude.

Well, it all happened when Farhan Akhtar approached Arjun for Don 2 starring Shahrukh. Arjun reported hiked his fee, forcing Akhtar to drop him from the film. The buzz is that Shahrukh too is not happy with Arjun’s sudden fee hike.

It may be recalled that Shahrukh and Arjun became good friends after acting together in the hit film Om Shanti Om. They are also acting together in the much-hyped film Ra.One.

Ra. One Preview: Have a sneak peek into Shahrukh Khan’s next

Shahrukh Khan, for the 1st time in his career, is delving into superhero suit playing a superhero who can, somewhat, solidify electricity. Here is a brief look into what’s on offer:

Film: Ra. One
Director Anubhav Sinha
Cast (includes): Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Shahana Goswami, Dalip Tahil, Dorian Kingi
Music composer: Vishal-Shekhar
Genre: Action Thriller (Superhero)

Storyline: Story revolves around a videogame in which a conflict ensues between the hero and the villain. A software enginner named Jeevan, in his endeavour to get in contact with his teenage son, breathes life to a videogame villain who eventually becomes real. Leaping off from the fantasy videogaming world, the villain turns real (much like the classic Frankenstein) and kills its creator. Now, the son ventures out to seek revenge. In his quest to avenge his father’s murder, he must get access to his father’s mind which holds the clue to the hero. The son must seep into his father’s imagination, revive the hero and battle the demon.

Will he succeed? Most importantly, how will he overcome the challenges to overpower the villain? Come 2011 and we shall be thrown into this murky roller coaster ride, high on gadgets and supreme in technical effects and hopefully sublime in script and performances.

Deepika’s craze for Shahrukh Khan

Deepika Padukone debuted with Shahrukh Khan in ‘Om Shanti Om’. Though she has climbed many stairs in her filmy career, she does not fill self sufficient. She wants some more of Shahrukh Khan, her first co-star. Shahrukh played an important part in shaping Deepika’s career. Being a first timer, it is always important that her co-stars should feel her relaxed and in this regard SRK helped her lot to make her comfortable when she first faced the camera for a film.

Her craze for SRK can be measured from the fact that whenever she finds Shahrukh, she repeats the same dialogue from ‘Om Shanti Om’ where she played Shantipriya and Shahrukh Khan portrayed the role of Om Kapoor.

Deepika quips, "While Shah Rukh was talking, all I did was sit and listen. This always happens to me! Every time I think I'm going to meet him I feel I have so much to say. Then I take one look at him and blank out!"

Well, King Khan is one of the finest actors of Bollywood and we can understand Deepika’s feeling.

Farah and I are friends: Shahrukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan has cleared the air over a reported rift with choreographer-director Farah Khan, saying that just because he wasn't on her next project didn't mean that they weren't friends.

He wished her luck for her next film Tees Maar Khan, for which she signed on Akshay Kumar instead of Shah Rukh.

"My friendship with all is as it was before, love them the same way. Many times if we are not working with each other doesn't mean that I hate her or end of friendship. I don't take my wife's decision, how could I take others. I want to see everyone doing well.

"When I am shooting with someone, I am more in touch with him. This time I am not in touch with Farah but wish her all the success and hope this film (Tees Maar Khan) becomes a bigger hit than Om Shanti Om, which was her last film. I just hope she become even a bigger producer. Yes, she is a friend of mine. I am not doing a film with her, which doesn't mean I don't love her," said Shah Rukh.

Shah Rukh played the lead role in Farah's last film Om Shanti Om.

I do not think negative of my friends, says Shahrukh Khan

“If I am not doing any film with my friends does not mean we are no longer friends. I do not think negative of my friends and wish Tees Maar Khan the best. I hope that the film turns out to be a bigger hit than Om Shanti Om,” SRK said.

Shahrukh Khan eager to watch Salman’s 'Dabangg'

They may not be on talking terms and may even see through each other when face to face, but Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan don’t seem to harbour any grudge against each other.

So we were a bit surprised but not shocked when Shahrukh told reporters in Mumbai that he was looking forward to watch Salman’s upcoming film Dabangg, that too with his kids Aryan and Suhana.

“I saw Lafangey Parindey last week and will watch Dabangg at home after my children's exams are over,” he said.

Shahrukh also laughed off the rumours of his fallout with good friend and director Farah Khan who’s directing her next film Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar and not with him.

“If I am not doing any film with my friends does not mean we are no longer friends. I do not think negative of my friends and wish Tees Maar Khan the best. I hope that the film turns out to be a bigger hit than Om Shanti Om,” SRK said.

The superstar has lately been busy shooting his sci-fi extravaganza Ra.One. Next he will begin shooting for Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2.

A Minute With: Shahrukh Khan gets up close and personal

One of India's most popular superstars, Shah Rukh Khan, is known for guarding his personal life fiercely from the media glare.

But for a change he has allowed a bit of the spotlight into his home, appearing in an ad campaign for a furnishing brand with wife Gauri, their first endorsement together.

Khan, 44, spoke to Reuters about doing an ad with his wife and pushing the boundaries as a producer in Bollywood.

Q: You have said you don't mix your professional and personal life. So were there apprehensions about doing an ad film with your wife, Gauri?

A: I am apprehensive. When you get into the public field you do open yourself to a lot of positives and negatives. For someone who is not planning to get into the field, maybe it is not the right thing to do.

Gauri doesn't want to do this full-time. She's done it as a one-off, and she's happy with it. So, yes, I am apprehensive.

If my kid decides to be an actor, I will be very clear that you are walking into something that has positives as well as negatives, so you have to open yourself to that, you have to be tough.

Q: Your next home production "Ra One" is India's first sci-fi superhero film. Do you aim to push boundaries with every film?

A: When I am producing a film, we like to take a few chances; we can afford to, because our films have a big market and a big price.

I have always been of the belief that if you get a great price for your product, it's not just for the product, but the brand that you have created, so you should utilize

it.

The way "My Name is Khan" was a step ahead in terms of storytelling, breaking the mold from what Karan and I had done, and saying something that people say in a much smaller film, and still we got a lot of acclaim.

We told ourselves, why should we be scared, just because we are taking a different subject, or what if it goes wrong. Mashallah, it did not go wrong. Similarly, with "Ra One," with the technology that was involved in it, is something that is yet untried. And not tried, because you don't get the money for it in the Indian market. I could, so I said I should.

I may lose some money on it, but that's ok. But if I am able to turn the tables around and say that India has a technological step-up with this film -- maybe 2 per cent, I am not saying I want to change the world I think I will return some of what this industry has given to me over the years.

Q: Do you think 3D, the technology that you are talking about is the way forward for Bollywood?

A: See, in film-making, whatever the knowns are, if you can control them and expand them, that's fantastic. Because storytelling is an unknown. That will never be controllable. So you can make a great film technically or you may make a very bad film technically, but the story has to be good.

I believe as a producer you should be willing to push the envelope as far as the knowns are concerned whether it is better camerawork, better lensing, better production values, or better technology. You can innovate through these things, so that something is different. You have to say, I am going to take this story and pack it this way. Like I saw this film the other day, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," and it's so wonderfully crafted.

Q: As a businessman, what is the one golden rule you live by?

A: The simple thing is, your cost should not exceed what you can afford to get from the market. You should not sacrifice quality for profit.

If need be, if you can afford it, handle a bit of loss, but quality will speak. I can't say content, because like I said, that is unknown, but quality will set you apart, whether it is in life, in business or play. The quality you give to your life or your product will always make you special.

Stardom comes because of this. See the greatest of brands and you will know this about them. I try to stick by that.

Its’ about loved ones for King Khan

He came, he conquered and still rules millions of hearts. The one name which has crossed all bounds to achieve what he deserves is none other than Shahrukh Khan. The most amazing fact about this star is his personal relationships were never hampered by stardom. SRK still comes across as a Delhi boy who values his close associates with same dignity as he has for his profession.

Let’s take a sneak peek at the beautiful relations Shahrukh share with his family and other close associates in tinsel town.

Inseparable Shahrukh and Gauri Khan: They very rightly say behind every successful man is a woman. And if the woman is the first love eventually the better half like Gauri Khan; man can’t withhold attaining success. So, the name is Shahrukh Khan whose love-story is no less than a film story where a guy can cross a millions oceans to get his love. In fact, more than love, Gauri once Chhiba and now Khan acted likes means to make films happen in Khans’ life. It was after stalking and wooing Gauri to comeback in his life when she went away fro m him to Mumbai; that SRK realized both Bollywood (Mumbai) and Gauri were his ultimate decision. And what happened next is a history now.

real-life hero: The father in Shahrukh can wear many faces for his children. Absolutely adorning himself every way like a father, a teacher, a coach, a friend; Shahrukh makes it to a perfect father. An academically sound, a true sportsman, a youthful heart like SRK brings sense of pride in his children to have a father like him. Despite all his commitments towards his work, he is aware of how to keep up with the expectations of his children which in turn pour him with unconditional love and fills his heart with joy.

SRK unconditional bond with KJO: Shahrukh like a true professional must have had good terms with many families in tinsel town most importantly Yash Chopra who brought new and fruitfuldimensions to his career. King Khan however, shares a special bonding with Karan Johar which didn’t limit till profession but their families.KJO holds a special respect for Shahrukh in fact looks upon him like a mentor. Interestingly, the filmmaker draws a line in his friendship out of this respect and is heard to more pally and comfortable with wife Gauri.

Juhi’s Lucky Ali: Juhi Chawla has been with SRK since the inception of his career be it emotionally or professionally. SRK-Juhi are a rare example in the tinsel town who have been for each other in their respective thick and thins. One can call Juhi second driving force in SRK’s life with due respect to the pious relationship they share. Lucky Ali meaning ‘lucky mascot’ is the name given to SRK by the gorgeous actress. Be it to begin a production house or beginning an IPL team Juhi has had a wonderful journey with Shahrukh. Yes Boss, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and many more showcased the affection the dup shared In real life.

Undeniable chemistry with Kajol: The most lovable couple might have shared an extremely beautiful chemistry on-screen. But more so, the duo’s off-screen pure friendship has been more cherished. Their bonding raised many eyebrows including Kajol’s husband Ajay Devgn who apparently happened to withhold conversation with Shahrukh. However, the beauty of their relationship lies in the respect and love in their eyes. Bazzigar, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayege, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and My Name Is Khan. Success of each film talks about their beautiful bond they share.

Award- the real rewards: They say SRK is greedy for awards so much so that he can go to any extent to achieve them. However, such remarks have never bothered SRK for he believes Awards who ignore him are losers why clear a shelf in his house, when he can buy a new house for the awards to come. For SRK, awards are the definition to his success.

The adorable master in SRK: Shahrukh like every relationship of his has a special place for his pet as well. A dog that his loves and pampers like a child. Is mention might be last in the list but he is surely an integral part of his life.

Shahrukh Khan explains How he lost weight for 'Ra. One'

If Aamir Khan flaunted his trimmed and toned down body for ‘3 Idiots’, then Shahrukh Khan shed oodles of pounds for Ra. One. But unlike Aamir’s case, it wasn’t a conscious effort on his part. This is how SRK lost weight:

In a press conference, Shahrukh (who is stepping into superhero genre for the 1st time in his near 20 year long career) dished out a bit about his film Ra. One which is in the pipeline currently and spoke of his experience while filming it.

Flashing a skinnier look, he explained that one of the reasons he was looking leaner was the superhero suits that he had to wear for the shoot. The suits, made from silicon and rubber, were extremely uncomfortable and made him feel extremely hot and choked up. Besides, the weather in Mumbai as well as in London was quite sultry and the heat was searing despite the modern day boon of air conditioners. SRK also explained that he had to wear a skiing suit inside which the skiers wear to protect them from cold. In such unpleasant weather and conditions, wearing the superhero costume (for 8-9 hours incessantly) made SRK lose weight.

"I'm too old to work in films" - Gauri Khan

Gauri has her doubts about B'wood, but she is teaming up with Shah Rukh for an ad

Shah Rukh Khan's wife Gauri, who is considered a super stylish and glam celeb spouse, feels she is too old to get into films.

"I am quite old now. Had I been young, I would have done one," Gauri told Shah Rukh when he asked her if she would work in films as well.

She said this at an event on August 26 to annouce them as the brand ambassadors of D'Décor, the world's third largest furnishing company.

This is the first time that Shah Rukh and Gauri have teamed up for an ad.

"I feel very humble and happy when any company signs me as their brand ambassador and so I am very happy to be part of D'Décor," Shah Rukh said after he and his wife were officially declared the brand ambassadors.

Gauri added: "I haven't worked so hard ever, so after working for two long days, I slept last two days. It was a fantastic experience."

Shah Rukh, known as a caring husband and father, was quite attentive at the event and made sure Gauri was comfortable. He helped Gauri in holding the microphone properly so that the media could hear whatever little she had to say.

Ajay Arora, managing director of D'Décor, decided to sign them as brand ambassadors because he felt they were the best examples of perfect homemakers.

"We thought that apart from being celebrities, Shah Rukh and Gauri have made a wonderful home, both by decor and feeling, so we decided to make them brand ambassadors of the company," said Arora.

Shahrukh Khan has assigned his faithful fan to create better films in Bollywood

Shah Rukh Khan has assigned his faithful fan following the job of creating ‘better’ films in the B-town.

Shahrukh tweeted: “thanx for half a dozen lakh followers. now that we have known each other for 6 months too, lets exchange a few ideas for better films.”

He not only asked for suggestions but also shared with his fans some of his ideas that may change the films in Bollywood for the better.
“i think its not the plots that are predictable…i think our screenplays are a bit hackneyed. maybe time for screenplay schools…or courses,” he posted.

“..and yes subtitles need to be better. many times i read the subtitles to my own film dialogues & get confused did i say that…no way,” SRK remarked.

Shahrukh also mentioned that he is interested to know about the ‘biopics’ of less-famed people who have interesting stories to share.

“i am also one for biopics…not only of very famous ppl…but of lesser known ppl who have interesting stories to share,” SRK posted.

Truly, the Badshah of Bollywood knows how to connect with his fans in his own ways.

Are you a SRK fan? Why wait, just shoot ideas and watch them grow into a film.

Shahrukh Khan bats for regional cinema

Supporting the demand of prime slots for Marathi movies in multiplexes, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan today said importance should be given to promotion and encouragement of regional cinema in the country.

The 44-year-old actor, who was targeted by the Shiv Sena during the release of his latest blockbuster My Name Is Khan, said regional films are made with a small budget and should be encouraged more.

"I am speaking as a film person and do not want to get into the political agenda," he said.

"I watch regional movies in Malayalam and Marathi on DVD at home. Even though language is a problem, I feel the best stories on celluloid come from the regional industry. If the DVDs are brought out with sub-titles, the films would get more exposure," the actor said.

Shah Rukh said it was the duty of the Mumbai film industry to support the cinema belonging to the region.

To a question on whether he knows Marathi and would learn to speak the language as his contemporary Aamir Khan is doing, Shah Rukh said he was bad with languages.

"My children speak it very well and hopefully they will teach me," he added.

A delegation of Marathi film makers and artists met Maharashtra deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal recently, demanding multiplex owners screen stipulated number of Marathi film shows and also during prime time slots.

MNS and Shiv Sena are also demanding prime slots for Marathi movies at the multiplexes.

Screenplays upset Shahrukh

Shahrukh Khan knowledge of filmmaking definitely is not confined to his immediate job acting. However, the super star lately was spotted scrutinizing filmmaking in Bollywood. The critical analysis followed by a chat on the same with his fans on the micro-blogging site.

"Thanks for half a dozen lakh followers. Now that we have known each other for six months too, let's exchange a few ideas for better films." The discussion began with suggestions from users’ end which ended up at a heated argument over the screenplays being the culprits for the debacle of films nowadays.

"I think its’ not the plots that are predictable...I think our screenplays are a bit hackneyed. Maybe time for screenplay schools...or courses," SRK tweets. He further adds, "..and yes subtitles need to be better. Many times I read the subtitles to my own film dialogues and get confused did I say that...no way.”

Shahrukh also became approachable to aspiring filmmakers who have interesting stories to narrate.

Khichadi team expressed their gratitude towards Shahrukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan, prominent Bollywood figure, is worshipped as the biggest star icon on TV screens as he is the only successful star on the silver screen who began his career with serials on small screen. His performances in serials like “Fauji”, “Doosra Kewal” and “Circus” are still remembered. Though several actors have tried the same path treaded by SRK but only few could make their mark. The latest name appearing on big screen is of Prachi Desai who has just tasted success via moving through small screen. There is still long list of actors who are aspirant to hit silver screen. But Shahrukh Khan is comparable to none. He is still the reigning his kingdom in Bollywood popularly known as King Khan.

King Khan is being remembered by famous Parekh family from “Khichadi” on small screen recently. Parekh family is going to have great time shortly when their movie, an adapted version of their very own serial “Khichadi”, will be released in cinema halls. They thought it the best time to seek SRK’s blessings before the release of movie as they consider him victorious star who began from TV. And now when not only one, two or three but the whole Parekh family is being transported to big screen, they wrote a letter to King Khan to look for his best wishes.

The star cast of “Khichadi” penned down the letter in national language that explains that there are numerous reasons to write to Shahrukh Khan. The foremost reason being their journey that is heading towards same direction after having successful story on small screen. They wish the history to be repeated again and their efforts would fetch fruitful rewards.

J D Majethia, producer of “Khichadi”, is also getting excited as the date of release is drawing nearer. He shared the contents of letter that they have expressed their gratitude towards SRK. He said, “We have expressed our gratefulness towards him for the path he has forged for us. He is one of the most important icons of Hindi cinema and so we want to salute him through the letter”. “Khichadi” is the story of Gujrati family who fights to live together.

Shahrukh Khan supports Vishwanath Anand

Shahrukh Khan is upset about the entire controversy over Vishwanath Anand's nationality. Courtesy Union Human Resource Development Minister’s Kapil Sibal’s interventions that the honorary doctorate to be allotted to Anand was delayed although Sibal apologized for the same later.

Anand along with Prof. David Mumford of Harvard University at a function in Hyderabad was to be honoured on Monday. However, queries related to his nationality as he has been staying in Spain for some years now but has an Indian passport sprang up which followed with the delay.

King Khan too showed his displeasure by tweeting, "It would be silly if it wasn't so tragic asking Vishy Anand for Indianness. CWG, Cricket and Vishy, India is truly having some sad sports days (sic).” “Instead of just cheering or jeering at half filled unkept arenas...we all should respect the great gift of sporting talent in our country (sic)," SRK adds.

Shahrukh Khan next to Ritiesh Deshmukh to support Marathi cinema

Shah Rukh Khan is second one after Ritiesh Deshmukh, from Bollywood fraternity, to come in support of promoting regional cinema in Mahrashtra. Mumbai is said to be the hub of producing the highest number of movies in the whole world. But giving emphasis to Hindi or English movies and that too at the cost of Marathi films is not fair at all. However, it is equally true that regional cinema is legging behind in fetching huge audiences for its movies. Whatsoever is the reason it is essential to preserve the age old culture and movies are the best way to transmit the same from generation to generation.

Though Shahrukh Khan does not know Marathi but he usually watches Marathi movies along with his family at home on DVD. He believes that good subjects in Bollywood films owe their origin in regional movies. He also suggests that the movies should come with sub-titles so that it could get more recognition in film industry.

Shahrukh Khan had a tussle with Shiv Sena on his statement on IPL matches; consequently his movie “My Name is Khan” paid for it. However, he did come forward to encourage Marathi producers who produce films with small budgets. He thinks that it is duty of B-town people to promote native cinema as well. Riteish Deshmukh has disclosed his plans to launch his production company to boost Marathi cinema in this line.

Shahrukh Khan, when it was asked if he aspires to learn Marathi language like his contemporary Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan, replied that he is not good at learning languages. However he will try his hand in it. He said, “My children speak it very well and hopefully they will teach me”.

Marathi mania commenced with MNS and Shiv Sena’s demand to show Marathi movies at prime slots in multiplexes which was supported by Maharashtra government. They warned multiplexes to give due importance to Marathi cinema; in some cases they also issued notices to multiplexes. In this connection, producers of Marathi films had a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister, Chaggan Bhujbal lately with the same demand.

Shahrukh Khan's 'hijack' drama

Shah Rukh Khan's bond with Karan Johar is the stuff of family (They're brothers and more, everyone knows). So it was only natural that SRK wanted to be a part of the promotions for Karan's new movie 'We Are Family'. But some news channels didn't quite see it that way, and here's what the star had to say about that.

"Did interview for We r Family with Arjun & Kareena, cos i feel karan is family. 1 channel said I hijacked interview for my gain. How low? ha ha"

Trust SRK to laugh this off, and also get complimenting his star buddies. He added, "Met 3 beautiful women. Deepika, Kareena & Shahana (Goswami). I get such warm wonderful hugs from them. Still smelling of youth, beauty & talent from hug."

And then there was some philosophy in store, "Wot others say u cant control...wot u make of it, learn, understand, disregard, mull over it & take it out of ur system, is in ur hand & heart."

SRK ended in his usual after-tweet mode, posting, "Think i have vented enough. Anymore & twitter will get choked."

Shahrukh Khan: The Made in India Star!

If there is any one who is truly made in India, then it has to be superstar of B-Town, Shahrukh Khan!

The popular number, which stormed into top chart buster slots, by Alisha Chinnai, ‘Made in India’, truly is applicable to our very own Shahrukh Khan!

Recently, when Shahrukh Khan was in Hyderabad to shoot for a scene for his home production flick ‘RA.ONE’, he got quite nostalgic, and twittered about it on his page.

Shahrukh’s message went like-“ Flew into Ramoji Rao in Hyderabad…..last I shot here was Baadshah, some 12 years ago…..time flies……and how nice to be here”.

SRK, further added his association with the city of Hyderabad, and he posted “I am half Hyderabadi (mom), half Pathan (Dad), some Kashmiri (grandmom), have a Punjabi wife and own a Kolkata (India Premier league) team. Indian at heart.

Now, just to make this very authentic statement more convincing, may we add another line from Alisha’s song- ‘Dil Chahiye bus Made in India?’

Of course, Shahrukh has more often than not proved to be a proud Indian by heart, but then with his family lineage belonging to almost all parts of the country, this is one star, who truly rules the hearts of millions of Indians, everywhere in the world!

Thus, we sure have a ‘Made in India Star’ in this super star called Shahrukh Khan!

Shahrukh Khan: Reading on underworld

Talking of Aamir Khan, my birdy from Bandra wants to give me some dope on Shah Rukh Khan. I’m informed that during the shooting of his superhero fantasy flick, Ra.One, the actor-producer seemed to have been bitten by the underworld bug. Now now, don’t leap to conclusions my dahlings. I’m
informed that when he wasn’t preoccupied with his movie, SRK would be busy reading Aabid Surti’s novel, Sufi. Well, that’s not surprising since the actor is known to be keen reader and has a wide variety of books in his library.

But, a book on the Mumbai underworld during the 1970s is not something one would readily associate with SRK’s taste in reading. Wonder if a dekko of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai is next. Or shouldn’t I ask?

Shah Rukh Khan chosen as brand ambassador for Nerolac Paints

Shahrukh Khan There are film stars, mega stars, superstars and then, there's the unanimous star of them all: Shah Rukh Khan!

Sources close to us have informed that the King Khan has now been chosen to be the brand ambassador of Nerolac Paints. Our source also added that the reason to choose SRK as the ambassador was because of his global appeal! Even though the finer details of the deal are still being worked upon, there are strong rumors that SRK had flown to Kolkata late last week to sign on the dotted lines.

What can we say besides, long live King Khan... and his never-ending list of brand endorsements.

Lara all set to impress Shahrukh Khan

Lara Dutta seems to be all set to impress King Khan, after all who doesn’t want to be in good books of Shahrukh. Actually, the actress is the new entrant in the sequel of Farhan Akhtars’ Don which has SRK and Priyanka Chopra in the lead role. So, the gorgeous actress is leaving no stone unturned to match up with the style which the movie demands off. She is nowadays experimenting with her looks with Farhan who will eventually take the final call.

“Look-test went well. I tried out four different options. Will now, decide on the final look with Farhan. Was pretty happy though,” exclaims Lara on the micro-blogging site. It may be recalled here; Lara recently had attended workshops for the same movie and now is so particular about her looks.

Along with Lara, Kunal Kapoor has also been roped for a charcater which was earlier to be played by Arjun Rampal. However, due to creative diffrences, Arjun backed out and Kunal came in the picture.

SRK won't visit dad-in-law!

It’s not what you may think. The Bollywood Badshah is a dedicated son-in-law. But his visits to R C Chhiba, wife Gauri Khan’s ailing father in Delhi, cause more distress than anything else.

Gauri herself is by her father’s bedside at the Escorts Heart Institute at New Friends Colony in the capital. Chhiba’s had angioplasty done, two stents were required, and he’s now out of the ICU. But Shah Rukh Khan is reluctant to visit his father-in-law. Says a source, “SRK doesn’t want a repeat of what happened when he visited Chhiba at the Max Healthcare at Saket in Delhi. Everything came to a standstill when people saw him. This disturbed not only the discipline, but also the health of other patients. And Shah Rukh doesn’t wish to disturb anyone.” But that doesn’t mean the actor won’t come to meet Chhiba at all. “He will come to the city when Chhiba is home,” adds the source.

The Shahrukhis of Vienna: Full transcript

New Delhi: Meet Shahrukhis, the German speaking fans of King Khan. They talk about Shahrukh, collect his memorabilia, watch his films together, dance to his film songs and plan their next visit to meet Shahrukh. Many of them have even visited India for his birthday.

Here's the full transcript of the NDTV documentary on the Shahrukhis of Vienna:

26-year-old Marlene is the first Shahrukhi we meet in Vienna, Austria. Shahrukhi is a term coined by German speaking fans of Shahrukh Khan to describe themselves.

Marlene works as an office assistant and she is taking us home to her one bedroom apartment uptown.

Marlene's private world is minimalistic, except for one ornamentation - Shahrukh Khan.

She has a collection of coffee mugs, posters, Indian movie magazines, DVDs, biscuit packets, almost any item emblazoned with Shahrukh Khan's face.

Facing Marlene's bed is a giant cutout of Om Shanti Om.

Marlene Zachs a resident of Vienna says about the giant cutout: I bought it from an E Bay auction. I first saw it at the Berlinalle function in 2008. Shahrukh signed it for all the people in Berlin. It was for a good deed.

NDTV: How much did you pay for it?

Marlene: In Euros, I would say about 300 Euros.

NDTV: And you thought it was money well spent?

Marlene: Of course, of course. For Shahrukh I can give everything.

NDTV: What can you do for Shahrukh?

Marlene: Shahrukh means a lot to me, I want to do everything for him. He is such a good human being. I like him so much.

When I saw him, I was sort of crazy. He is so fantastic. I wanted to meet this man. I wanted to see him. When I first saw him at the Berlin airport, I didn't know he would be there at that time. I just touched him one time to see if this man could be real.

NDTV: Do you like other stars of the Hindi film industry?

Marlene: Yes I like Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Vivek Oberoi. There are so many I like.

NDTV: Then what makes Shahrukh so different? What do you think is the best thing about Shahrukh?

Marlene: He is a great human being. He is not only a brilliant actor, he is always there for his family, his wife and kids. He takes out so much time for his fans and his friends. He is always so nice...that's why he is called King Khan.

Marlene: This is a picture of Shahrukh and me. It was at the C Carnival 2009. I met him a few times. He was there for three days and I met him every day and got many autographs from him. It was really really nice.

The C Carnival was happening in London.

Marlene: I have spoken to him many times at the C Carnival. It was on the stage that the fans got a chance to meet him personally for a few moments and I was also on the stage. I talked a little with him and he signed a few pictures for me.

NDTV: Did he ask about you?

Marlene: Yes, yes, he is very interested in people. Maybe that's the reason I like him so much. He is so friendly and interested in other people.

Marlene has not only been to Berlin and London to meet her screen idol, she has also flown to India.

Marlene: I've been to India only once. I remember it was in November 2009. I was there for his birthday. It was 2nd November and I was there to greet him outside Mannat. It was beautiful.

Marlene was accompanied by other Shahrukhis from Vienna.

Marlene: I have ten friends who also love Shahrukh like me. We were all together in India.

NDTV: Are these people together with you since school?

Marlene: No, no...I found them because of Shahrukh. It was at a forum that we got to know each other. We started meeting each other and now we are good friends because of Shahrukh.

Marlene: We meet sometimes at the shop, sometimes at home, either they come to me or I go to them. Sometimes, we just meet in a café.

NDTV: What are the things you like to do together?

Marlene: Talking about Shahrukh! We always talk about Shahrukh, watch movies together, plan our next trips to see Shahrukh.

Bollywood Gandhi Video Store has played a pivotal role in bringing Sharukhis together in Vienna.

The store is owned by 40 year old Satish Gandhi, an immigrant from Haryana who has worked his way up - from being a newspaper vendor to a businessman.

When we visit the store we meet 51 year old Maria. She is Hungarian and works in a bank.

Maria Grofne: It is very difficult to put it into words why he is so special and unique. I think that on the one side, if you meet him personally, he is a normal guy, honest like you and me. But his presence is a magic. If you watch his films, it is not only his great performances, but also you get to love him as a person. I can actually say that the whole family is a Shahrukh fan. Shahrukh is kind of a family member.

Maria says she watches a Sharukh movie every day.

Maria Grofne: I watch about half an hour, not the whole film as I do not have the time. I watch them in Hindi. It's also very important that I hear his voice.

Maria Grofne: We went to Mumbai last year for his birthday. We wanted to be there once, once in a lifetime at least. And it was a great experience.

Orsolya Kosa: I think he is a very good actor. He has played many, many different roles and he had to express so many different emotions. I think he is a good happy person. He touches people's hearts. He is also very simple and modest.

Shahrukh's Austrian fans discovered him in November 2004 when 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham' was telecast by a private German channel. It was the first Indian film to be shown and it was dubbed in German.

Fascinated by the Indian actor, viewers searched the internet, to learn about his movies, about him and his family.

The store became popular as Shahrukh Khan DVDs were readily available here.

Satish Gandhi, owner, Bollywood Gandhi Store: Ninety per cent of our customers are Austrians, Yugoslavs, Turkish, Arabs, Iranis, Afghanis. Indians are just 10 per cent.

The fans belong to different age groups and to different sections of society.

Christina Wininger: My husband is from Syria and from childhood he is a Bollywood fan. He loves Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and all of them. I am from Austria.

Christina Wininger: I think he gives all his heart when he is acting - his energy - he is so alive. Also when you see a film which is not so good, but with Shahrukh it becomes amazing. He gives life to the film. His personality becomes like the character he plays in the film. When I see a film of Amitabh Bachchan - he is Amitabh Bachchan, but Shahrukh is Raj, Rahul, Surinder...he is that person.

Christina Wininger: My favourite film is 'Main Hoon Na'. It was the first film I saw. And this movie is so great because it has everything - comedy, tragedy, love story, action, also politics - it is also about how you should like one another and that there should not be hate between the countries.

Michaela Wininger, Christina's sister in law: I like his acting very much, because the people who see him in the film feel emotional. He plays his roles whole-heartedly. He gets into the roles he plays.

Sarah Sannoufeh, Christina's daughter in law: He looks good, he is a very good actor. I like him, I love him.

The Shahrukh cult is bringing in a multicultural influence into a society that is viewed by some as becoming increasingly xenophobic. Two years ago, nearly 30 per cent of Austrians voted for two far right parties that encouraged so called genuine Austrians to believe they were victims of foreigners or immigrants who take away their money and undermine their culture.

Christina Wininger: I like it that people have started to love Bollywood. It's difficult to explain because the Europeans like only other Europeans or Americans. Now they are great fans of someone who is not from Europe or America. It's wonderful. It's difficult to explain if you are not living here, if you are not a foreigner here.

The popularity of Indian actors like Shahrukh Khan have brought in winds of change and creativity to the continent.

A feeling that immigrants do not just take up jobs, they also add to the culture, to the fermentation of ideas, is now growing.

Orsolya says she feels 'Indian' in her blood and Shahrukh has made her love everything Indian, including Indian dancing and food.

She dances to Indian songs dressed in full Indian costume.

Satish Gandhi: I have a hobby room where the fans meet. I play Shahrukh movies and arrange drinks for them. It's free of cost. I am overwhelmed by the fact that Austrians are watching Indian movies, that they are accepting our culture, wearing our clothes. I feel happy and my heart fills with joy.

In February this year, the Shahrukhis decided to go to Berlin for the premier of 'My Name is Khan'.

Satish Gandhi: We were standing outside the hotel for eight hours - from 3 pm to 11pm. It was minus eight degrees and our hands and feet were swollen. I had accompanied the Austrian fans. I thought they were mad but actually they are really good. Don't ask me how we spent eight and a half hours! We didn't leave because we knew Shahrukh could come out any time. When he came out at 11.30 pm, the first thing he did was to apologise. We appreciated that. He said he was busy doing interviews inside the hotel. He spoke to each one of us, shook our hands and allowed us to take photographs with him. I realised that day that it is not so easy to become a fan. Similarly it is not that simple to become a star. His interest in us was genuine.

Shahrukh Khan: Wherever I go in Europe, sometimes I feel people won't know me and then I go for a function or a conference and suddenly at the airport you have Germans and Austrian and Polish people who come to meet me, and it's very very touching. I am deeply touched by this and very thankful. I hope they keep liking me like this.

At Vienna University, we meet Prof Elke Mader, Vice Dean of the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology. The 56-year-old academic has been studying the extensive fan networks in German speaking areas.

Prof Elke Mader: They build a lot of relationships between the movies and the stars and their everyday lives, and they also connect with others.

There is a huge online community which connects people and fans in different places. In German speaking areas the biggest one is called the Bollywood forum. One of the forums is Swiss based and has about six thousand topics and 800 thousand postings on Bollywood. But the majority, the largest section of it is on Shahrukh. We have lots of different threads where people discuss certain topics, which are of course all his movies, there are also general chats on him and about him as a person. Everything that is news or documentary is collected. All his 'tweets' are translated into German. Lots of Bollywood fans who do not speak English rely on others who translate every word, every article on Shahrukh into German.

From September 30 to October 2, sociologists, cultural historians, film experts and other scholars are meeting for an international conference on Shahrukh Khan and Global Bollywood at the Vienna University. Prof Mader, who is the principal organiser, says that Shahrukh Khan is the first ambassador of Bollywood for the new European audiences.

Prof Elke Mader: The conference will focus on Shahrukh in particular as a global player, as somebody who more than others today is extremely significant for a globalised Bollywood. We will be focusing on several topics within this. We will be focusing on Shahrukh and his importance for the South Asian diaspora. There are scholars coming from the US, Canada and from European countries. Most of them are from a South Asian diaspora background.

On the one hand we are examining the global aspects of the people present, the scholars who come, on the topics they talk about. There is a workshop on fan cultures and how people relate in different cultural contexts to Shahrukh and his movies. And there will be a presentation on Russia, new media and fan following, there will be something on Trinidad, a paper on Peru, there will be papers on the German speaking areas, also on Italy.

Another participant is Professor Claus Tieber, who teaches a course in Hindi cinema at Vienna University, and writer of a book, 'Passages to Bollywood'.

Prof Claus Tieber, Department of Theater, Film and Media Studies, Vienna University: About Shahrukh's special appeal - it is not just for Austria, it's for everyone. He combines opposites and he has something for everyone. He is very male in his body but he acts very female in a number of scenes, he is a Muslim playing Hindu, he is clothed in very Western clothes and still comes from India. So he combines all these opposites. That is part of the magic and success of this big star. There is more than just one small image.

Prof Mader found that although there are a few male and queer fans, an overwhelming majority of Shahrukh's fans are women. She says he fulfills the European women's eternal quest for an emotional man who is not shy of saying 'I love you' to the woman he loves.

A fan: I like the romantic and emotional side that Shahrukh Khan displays. The fact that a man can weep and be emotional.

In a continent that prides itself on being rational and logical, Shahrukh's films balances their real life with their imagined life.

Columnist Mehru Jaffer, whose film on Shahrukhis will be shown at the conference, says that she wanted to document the trend before it faded away. She calls it an emotional phenomena.

Mehru Jaffer: There is a lot of gentleness. They love Gauri and they adore his kids as much as they love Shahrukh. On the shelf they will have a huge poster of Shahrukh but there will also be beautiful pictures of Gauri and Shahrukh. It is not just Shahrukh as an actor who is liked but he is liked as a husband, as a friend and as a fan. The very common joke among fans in Vienna is that when you meet Shahrukh and give him your hand to shake, he disregards the hand and gives you a hug instead. They love all this in a culture that is time oriented and people oriented for profit and business.

Some of them live by themselves in a way, with the memory of films and music of Shahrukh. If it gives them so much emotional solace.

I think it is a good reason to love someone in this way.

Of ‘Ra.One’ and ‘Robot’…

Did you know that Shah Rukh Khan’s prestigious venture ‘Ra.One’ and Rajinikanth-Aishwarya starrer ‘Robot’ are inter-related? Well let’s tell you how…

Our birdies reveal that initially the titled ‘Robot’ was registered with SRK’s banner Red Chillies. In fact the production company was supposed to have produced Shankar’s film; that was a time when Shah Rukh was meant to act in the film.

For both Shankar and SRK the film was quite ambitious project and they were seriously working over it together, until creative differences followed. Following it, both parted ways and Shankar went on to rope in Rajinikanth for his project while King Khan started to work on his own superhero project, now called as ‘Ra.One’.

At this time, Shankar felt that he needs the title ‘Robot’ for his project and he said to have written a request letter to Shah Rukh to give him the title. And surprisingly, without qualms Shah Rukh parted with the title….

Well, the industry has its own weird ways. While it’s know for tiffs and tussles on one side, on the other ‘give and take’ do happen as well….

Shahrukh Khan, the king of bollywood, as he is very popularly known as, is one of the biggest style icons that our film industry can boast of!

Recent reports suggesting that SRK has called himself the most unstylish guy seem to suggest that the super star is just to humble, and not one to blow his own trumpet!

Well, Shahrukh may be aware that his style and designer accessories are always a rage with the youth of the entire globe, and yet, his statement being one of the most humble of people, does speak a lot about his down to earth stance in life.

It may be appreciated here that Shahrukh Khan has always been the inspiration for all college going kids as well as the middle aged men, who love to dress casual and yet manage to look cool and classy at all events.

As SRK’s love for white T- shirts and blue denims is well known, so are his formal tuxedos, with his black bow tie, or red, depending on the occasion, and Shahrukh’s mood perhaps, have all been definite style statements made by the star, and followed by zillions of fans all over the world!

Even his accessories. Like the reading glasses he uses, (which SRK has a good collection of, with various shades to add color), his sneakers, his stubble, have become absolute rage amongst all his fans.

However, whatever ever is Shahrukh’s style, one thing’s for sure, Shahrukh Khan is one of the most stylized stars of contemporary India, no wonder, in spite of having the common man’s look, Shahrukh can carry himself with utmost ease, charm, confidence and charisma at any International arena with a full ‘10 on 10’!

Salman Khan comes dangerously close to Shahrukh

Tension shoots up whenever Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan are under the same roof. It happened on Wednesday that the warring Khans found themselves shooting at Mehboob Studios in Bandra at the same time.

Shahrukh was filming for a commercial while Salman was doing interviews for his upcoming film Dabangg. We hear that the loyalists of both the camps had tried their best to ensure that Salman and SRK don’t come face to face. But Salman, who is known to stretch his legs and walk around on the sets in between his shots, did wander out.

His muscles flexed and expression stern, Salman was seen walking with his characteristic swagger towards the set of SRK’s shoot, and for a moment everyone had their hearts stopped. Salman seemed headed for a full and final settlement with his arch foe.

But mid-way, Salman changed his direction and ventured onto another set where he had more work waiting. Shahrukh meanwhile, remained busy with his shoot all this while. Yes, he did spot Salman’s vanity van parked some distance away and paused for a good look.

Earlier, Salman and SRK had come dangerously close at the premiere of 3 Idiots, where Aamir Khan was the obvious buffer between the two.

Salman and SRK have been at cold war since their fight at Katrina Kaif’s birthday in 2008.
