Will Shah Rukh Khan host Filmfare awards this year

Will Shah Rukh Khan host Filmfare awards this year or will he be replaced with younger faces like Ranbir and Imran Khan. Imran Khan is the nephew of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan.

Aamir Khan launched him in his home production film Jane Tu Yaa Jane Na. Now he is ready to challenge the leading Bollywood faces in a very short spell in Bollywood.

After his shoulder surgery at the Breach Candy hospital which was performed on 16th February many might have thought that Shah Rukh Khan would sit back at home to recovers from his surgery.

But it was said later that the workaholic actor Shah Rukh will indeed host the show. He had apparently given his nod to organizers following the surgery.

For King Khan’s sake the awards ceremony was postponed to March 7 which were previously slated for February 28. It was slated to be Khan's second time as a host in Filmfare Awards. Shah Rukh co-hosted the 53rd Filmfare Awards in 2008 with Saif Ali Khan.

It seems that he has taken the advice of Amitabh Bachchan rather seriously. After Shah Rukh Khan’s surgery Amitabh Bachchan not only called Shah Rukh but also went to see him at his house. He asked him to comply with the advices of his physicians.

Aamir Khan Vs SRK: Who will win the Best Actor award

If Aamir Khan has no qualms tagging himself as No.1, SRK takes great pride in proclaiming himself King Khan.

If one is a perfectionist, the other believes in making fans smile through his onscreen persona. While the two most popular Khans take potshots at each other, we give you a chance to play critic to their performances in Ghajini and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi ...

With nominations in the Filmfare award for the Lead Role, who do you think stands a well deserved chance to take home the ‘beautiful black lady’ at this year’s 54th Idea Filmfare Awards? Will it be Aamir for his intense lover act in Ghajini or SRK for his sweet and simple Suri avatar in Rab ne Bana di Jodi ...?

With IPL round the corner, its time once again for various franchisees to create maximum awareness about their respective teams, and keeping this in mind, Shah Rukh Khan (who owns Kolkata Knight Riders) has come up with the idea of a unique T.V. reality show called ‘ Knights and Angels‘. This much-awaited reality dance show will trace the hunt for 6 spirited and talented girls to lead the Cheer-leaders Squad of the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Adding his final stamp of authority, would be judge Sourav Ganguly the inimitable icon of Indian cricket and captain of Kolkata Knight Riders. The show will be hosted by V.J. turned actor Purab Kohli and the pretty Anushka Sharma (who made a stunning debut opposite SRK in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi) will be seen as the special celebrity judge in the first episode.

After an extensive audition conducted across key metros in India, the 24 shortlisted girls will be groomed and trained by the biggest names in the Indian entertainment industry. The 6 finalists will have to possess qualities like energy, style, chutzpah, poise, personality, attitude, grace, rhythm, and fire within themselves to make it to the Knight Riders cheerleading squad. Speaking at the launch Sourav Ganguly said, “I have never been a judge before. It’s equally exciting and nerve-wracking for me and I’m really looking forward to a whole new experience. Speaking on this new and exciting show, Shah Rukh said, “Cricket is a perfect blend of hard work and entertainment. We are very excited about the whole challenge of finding the best cheerleading squad for our Knights. These girls will become a key part in our quest for victory this season. Big B teams up with SRK in Farah's next

Wassup my almond- ‘n’ -walnut macaroons? For a change, I’m gonna be so sweet and nice today that you’ll probably think I’m a walking-talking-sexy barfi. I am, but that’s another story.

For now, the todu khabar is that Amitabh Bachchan is teaming up with Shah Rukh Khan for his production Happy New Year.. and by the end of 2009, will shoot for it too.. under the nirdeshan of Farah Khan.

When the movie was first planned, SRK wasn’t too pleased with the way the storyline was shaping up in the second half. Besides, Bachchan saab wasn’t keeping too well then. So the actor-producer and his director-friend chose to put Happy New Year on hold and started work on another script, Om Shanti Om.

Meanwhile, Farah reworked the script and now that SRK and she are pleased with it, they have decided to make Happy New Year next. I’m told the duo will start working on it once SRK completes Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan.

Meanwhile, Bachchan saab, who had expressed his willingness to be a part of the movie then, is believed to be pleased with the script and has even allotted his dates for the shoot.

I just hope this puts an end to all speculations of star wars etc etc. After all, I’m such a peace loving girl, no.

SRK touched hearts

Who said, love me or hate me... but you can’t ignore me? Not Shah Rukh Khan, surely.

Though the Bollywood Badshah, home after his successful shoulder surgery, is saying just that about his home production Red Chillies’ last Friday release — Billu. “The film’s sincerity is touching hearts. Whoever has seen this Priyadarshan-directed film, is talking about it. And whoever hasn’t, should go and see it,” said SRK. “I am getting loads of texts. People are liking the film, especially the last bit.”

It is true, the last 15 minutes of Billu, when Shah Rukh tugs at the heartstrings of the audience with a powerful and emotional dialogue, is replacing lost values in people. To that end, Billu reminds audiences of forgotten simplicities and displaced values in society. “It’s a great risk that Shah Rukh Khan has taken. Hats off to him for making a film where the focus is not on himself, and where the story and performances are the stars,” said trade pundit Taran Adarsh, adding that “SRK could have made a hardcore commercial flick like Om Shanti Om and earned pots of money, yet he took a different path because he believed in the story.”
Trade analyst Komal Nahata agreed, “It’s a sincere product, one that doesn’t have to try hard to keep the story and morals straight. It works on it’s own. It has everything going for it, like good music, story and performances, all of which touch your heart.” Taran revealed, “The film has done well overseas, considering the number of prints released was about 200. Family films, which we call socials, always have a slow start... but over a period they become blockbusters. Look at films like Baghban, Vivaah, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Tare Zameen Par. All started on a slow note, but went on to become box office hits. Billu has the potential and there is one more weekend to come. Just give it some time.”

Girish Wankhede, Deputy GM, Cinemax, said, that the film started well with a 50 per cent collection. “It went onto 80 per cent across all our branches on the weekend, which is very good. People walked out appreciating the film... especially the ending.” Taran added, “There was not a single dry eye in theatres. SRK’s dialogue is so powerful. To hold an entire audience with just his words is laudable. Shah Rukh makes you laugh and cry.” While King Khan himself said, “Even my kids cried.”

Shahrukh to work with 'Ghajini' director

As soon as he recovers from his shoulder surgery, Shahrukh Khan is expected to finalize a film with Ghajini director A.R. Murugadoss.

Murugadoss has proved his credentials in Bollywood with his very first Hindi film that’s turned out to be a mammoth hit. The director is now working on his second film, which, thankfully, won’t be a violent movie, but a romantic one.

And to star in it, the director has approached Shahrukh, who is learnt to have expressed interest in not just acting in the film, but also producing it.

Reportedly, it was cinematographer Ravi Chandran who suggested Murugadoss to approach SRK. Chandran shot SRK for My Name Is Khan in the US.

Murugadoss admits meeting SRK with the project but says things will be finalized only after the latter recovers from shoulder surgery. Doctors have advised the superstar to avoid hectic work for a few months.

Meanwhile, SRK and Amitabh Bachchan have been felicitated with first FICCI-IIFA's 'Most Powerful Entertainers of the Decade' awards in Mumbai.

Big B visits Shah Rukh Khan

On his blog dated 18 February, Amitabh Bachchan had written about messaging Shah Rukh Khan and wishing him a speedy recovery. SRK called him back and thanked him, informing him he was home as he was getting depressed in the hospital and invited Big B over for some games.

Big B warned him not to take post-surgery therapy lightly, not to get into any kind of activity and to take adequate rest. Late last night, Big B visited Shah Rukh Khan at Mannat, his residence. Here are the pictures

Operating Shah Rukh was no easy task: Dr. Sanjay Desai

Shah Rukh Khan is on the road to recovery after his shoulder surgery at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, but that journey is going to take two months of being out of action at the least.

The 43-year-old actor injured himself at the end of last year on the sets of Dulha Mil Gaya but postponed the needed surgery as he didn’t want to disrupt the shooting for Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan.

Now, after finally being operated on, shoulder specialist Dr. Sanjay Desai, who is treating Khan, says, “He cannot move his shoulder for at least two months. He has to follow a certain exercise regime but he cannot do weight training as it will put stress on his shoulder. After a certain age, your bones take time to heal.”

Commenting on the delay of the surgery, Dr. Desai says, “He was injured last year and the operation should have ideally taken place earlier but he was busy shooting and didn’t get the time. The operation itself doesn’t take much time but post-surgery , he has to rest. That is why we decided to go ahead with it now. Believe me, operating on Shah Rukh is no easy task.”

The star has been instructed to take utmost care post the operation. “Stars have very busy schedules and it is compulsory for them to look good but he has to rest for a minimum of two months. He must be careful of his shoulder as he has already had injuries to his spine,” says Dr. Desai.

Shah Rukh shifted from the hospital to his home soon after the surgery. Dr. Desai explains, “He wants to stay with his family but we are there to check up on him daily. When he was at the hospital, everyone from his fans to the media gathered to get a glimpse of him. The funny thing is, before Shah Rukh went in for surgery, even the hospital staff were eager to get a look at him and click pictures. This is what happens when you are a star. He is alright now so when he asked, we told him that it was okay if he wanted to be discharged.”

SRK out of action for 2 months

Shah Rukh Khan is known for his high levels of energy. But when we met him at his house on Tuesday, we were struck by how tired he was looking. Just out of bed, he was dressed in a black jacket and had his arm in a sling. He spoke to us about his surgery and what he plans to do with all the free time he now has...

How long will it be before you can get back to work?
I have been told to rest for at least 60 days. In any case, I would not have been able to work because of the pain. Also, I can't take off the sling for two months. So, it seems like I will only start shooting after that.

Wouldn't it be better for you to move to a hospital?
Actually, I think it is better to be home. My family will take care of me and people can visit me here. I feel safe in my own home and my doctor has also been taking care of me here.

Will you be allowed to do any kind of stunts after you recover?
They have asked me not to use my arm too much. Even my exercise regime is very strict now. I'm not allowed to do much weight training because it will affect my shoulder.

Why did you choose Indian doctors this time?
Well, I think we have the best in India in every field these days. The last operation I had was done abroad but I have realised we have everything in India so I had this operation here. And, it was actually more fun because the doctors had such a good time taking pictures with me. That is something international doctors will not do! (Laughs). More seriously, I wanted to be close to my children. Now that their exams are close, I can help them study.

What you will do with all this free time?
Well, I will work on developing stories. And my house is big enough for me to wander around and entertain myself. Plus, my kids and wife are around. I will spend time with them and allow them to do some seva for me!

Will this injury find its way into your autobiography?
I don't know. I haven't really thought about it, but I think my spine operation was worse than this. It was a lot more painful, so let's see.

Any message for fans who are praying for you?
Thank you for all your prayers. The way I see it, I am their employee! My life is dedicated to entertaining all of you. I will do my best to get well and get back to doing that.

Prayers for Shahrukh Khan's speedy recovery

Prayers were performed at a hair-cutting saloon in Bhopal to wish a speedy recovery of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, who underwent a successful shoulder surgery on Monday.

Naresh Sen, a barber in the saloon said that Khan had inspired their community to become successful through his film Billu.

"The havan (ritual) which I performed was for Shahrukh Khan to live a longer life. He will live much longer. I performed this ritual in my saloon because he has given us inspiration through his film Billu and an opportunity for the poor class to move forward." said Naresh.

The 43-year-old actor underwent an arthroscopic surgery on left shoulder, which kept nagging him for quite sometime.

Doctors at the Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital said Khan was recovering well.

The operation lasted for around one-and-a-half hours by a team of three doctors, a hospital official said.

Before he left for the hospital Khan said that getting injured was part of his job.

"I think when you working in a profession like this you ought to fall and jump. It is obvious you can get wounded like this. So I always believe this is a payment for all the goodness that I get," said Khan.

Shah Rukh says he is fine, to rest for three weeks

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who underwent a successful shoulder surgery here, was discharged from hospital today and said he was feeling fine but would take some rest and take care of his kids' studies.
"I am fine...But I will be taking rest for three weeks," he told reporters in suburban Bandra after he was discharged from Breach Candy Hospital, where he underwent the surgery to repair the tear in his left shoulder muscle yesterday after he returned from London where he attended the premiere of his latest home production "Billu".

Shah Rukh also said he would be travelling to watch Twenty20 cricket matches. "I don't watch my own movies," he said in a reply to another query. "I will take care of my children's studies in my rest period," he said.

Shoulder specialist Dr Sanjay Desai, who performed the operation on the 43-year-old actor-producer, told PTI that Shah Rukh had recovered well and so was discharged. "Shah Rukh has resumed his normal diet and had a sound sleep." The actor, with his left hand in a sling, looked cheerful and waved at fans, photographers and camerapersons waiting outside the hospital.

He had injured himself on the sets of "Dulha Mil Gaya" last November and continued shooting for Karan Johar's "My Name is Khan" in Los Angeles for 45 days at a stretch during which he experienced severe pain.

No heavy-duty work for King Khan for a few months

No heavy-duty action scenes for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for the next six months, say doctors who successfully operated upon him for a nagging pain in the left shoulder.

"Shah Rukh's surgery went off fine and he should be back home in two days. However, he will require some good rest for a long period and he has been advised not to do any strenuous work," said Sanjay Desai, orthopaedic surgeon at Breach Candy Hospital here.

So, in effect Shah Rukh will be on a forced break for six weeks to fully recuperate. However, he will host the Filmfare awards on March 7, which were scheduled for Feb 28 earlier. The organisers postponed the date for Shah Rukh's sake.

He can take up heavy-duty action scenes only after six months.

"It's a normal precaution that one has to take. The surgery was long pending and it is good that he finally took out time for it. Keeping in mind that he would only become busier in months to come, it made sense that he got himself operated before it was too late," Desai said.

King Khan underwent an arthroscopic surgery for a nagging pain in his left shoulder Monday. His family, friends and fans heaved a sigh of relief when it was announced that the surgery, which lasted 45 minutes, had been successful. A team of three doctors performed the surgery.

Being the professional that he is, Shah Rukh made sure his producers would not suffer because of his surgery and forced break.

Currently, Shah Rukh has only two films on the floors - Karan Johar's "My Name Is Khan" and Viveck Vaswani's "Dulha Mil Gaya".

While he has already finished shooting for an extensive part of "My Name Is Khan", in "Dulha Mil Gaya" he has an extended guest appearance for which only a qawwali featuring him with Sushmita Sen remains to be shot.

"He will be back in a big way, just wait and watch," said Vishal Dadlani (of Vishal-Shekhar duo). "He has earned the goodwill of people, and one thing which is real in this world is that if people wish you well, you will get up sooner than you could ever imagine."

"Anyone who has ever worked with Shah Rukh will vouch for the fact that he is incomparable," Vishal said in an emotional tone. "He gives every individual respect and a lot of space as well. He is a phenomenal producer and a much-loved star of billions of people across the globe. He has everyone's good wishes."

Shah Rukh to host Filmfare awards, again!

Here's some good news for Shah Rukh fans. The actor is set to play a double role again. And this time around people will get to see the two SRKs on stage instead of the big screen.

SRK was supposed to host the Filmfare awards night on February 28. But since he got busy with the promotions of Billu and then undergo his shoulder surgery on February 16 at the Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, the organisers have decided to postpone it to March 7.

Buzz is that SRK will don the two avatars from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. One, a simpleton Suri and the other, a carefree Raj.

But the actor is not going to go easy on the industry people; he will be witty and catty from the moment he goes on stage. This whole act is learnt to be SRK's brainchild.

If one recalls, last year's event stirred up a controversy as the stars took crass behaviour to a new low.

Shah Rukh Khan 'doing fine' after successful surgery

Shah Rukh Khan is recovering well after undergoing a successful surgery that lasted one and a half hours at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on February 16.

"All went well. He is out of anesthesia. The situation is under control and he is doing fine," said Dr Sanjay Desai a shoulder injury specialist who supervised the surgery, done using arthroscopic method.

The 43-year-old actor is likely to be discharged from the hospital within the next two days, but will need to rest for four to six weeks before resuming work.

Shah Rukh sustained a tear in the main muscle of his left shoulder on the set of Dulha Mil Gaya.

Shah Rukh Khan undergoes surgery

Accompanied by his wife Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan made his way to the Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai early last evening. The actor was scheduled to undergo a surgery on his shoulder at night at Breach Candy Hospital. Khan was in London on the weekend and only returned this afternoon around 1.30pm

SRK arrives at the hospital in South Mumbai

“Shah Rukh went into surgery at night. Although we knew that he was in best hands, we all were a bit anxious. Gauri and other close friends were present at the hospital. Early this morning he was brought into his room,” informs a source close to the star.

No sooner has he stepped out of his car than the media starts hounding him
Following his operation King Khan will have to stay in hospital for three to four days and will have to stay away from any stunts or big movements for close to a month. He will have to give a minimum of three weeks of rest to the affected shoulder after which he will have to undergo atleast six weeks of intensive physiotherapy.

Gauri Khan is also by her husband's side
The actor had hurt himself on the sets of his film Dulha Mil Gaya in November last year. But a busy schedule resulted in the surgery being constantly delayed. However, recently while filming for My Name is Khan in Los Angeles the actor aggravated his shoulder again. As a result he had to leave filming in between and return back home.

And although he returned home, Khan has had no rest at all. He has been wrapping up commitments for his recently released Billu and his other professional endorsements ever since he returned.

SRK’s Shoulder Surgery On Tuesday

Much as Shah Rukh Khan would’ve loved to get his shoulder operated on earlier, it is only now, on Tuesday, that the actor will go under the knife. Enduring the acute pain in his shoulder, the actor chose to spend the busy week promoting Billu. Says Shah Rukh, “The surgery for my shoulder is scheduled for February 16, in Mumbai. I hope to be fine soon and get back to work.”

Telling us about the current whereabouts of the actor, his friend says,“After attending the special screening of Billu, held for barbers in Mumbai on Thursday, Shah Rukh flew to London with Lara Dutta and Irrfan Khan for Billu’s premiere. He’ll be back in Mumbai today and get ready for the surgery scheduled for Monday.”

Interestingly, this time around, Shah Rukh has decided to get the surgery done in Mumbai itself. Adds the friend, “SRK’s decision to get operated in Mumbai can’t be labelled as a politically correct move. But yes, in the past when he had gone to London for a vital surgery, he had to face a lot of flak from people here about his lack of faith in our own doctors. He now feels that some of the finest doctors of the world are here in Mumbai. He sees no need to go to the West for treatment.”

Shah Rukh’s surgery will take place under tight security bandobast, given the recent incidents of attack on his residence and general unrest due to Billu. Post-surgery, Shah Rukh will require a month’s rest. This stands to affect the shooting schedule of Karan Johar’s next, My Name is Khan. However, Karan says, “Films keep happening. Shah Rukh getting well is more important.”

Adhyayan Suman copies SRK’s way

There are many people who like to copy stars style funda. I am a big follower of Shah Rukh Khan. I always copied his style statements. Right from his ‘cool copper’ colored hair style in Kaal to his simple looking mustache in Rab Ne…, says Adhyayan Suman.

I even tried his six packs in Om Shanti Om but unfortunately didn’t succeed in it. Maybe that’s the difference between SRK and me (and many more, off course).

Anyways let us get back to business. I was saying that past quite a few events I have noticed that Shah Rukh has been sporting a muffler around his neck. Now be that SRK and Hungama’s joint venture in promoting ‘Billu’ or be it Shah Rukh’s production house entering into the television Industry or be it SRK dancing in the grand finale of Nach Baliye 4. In all these events we can see SRK sporting a muffler, pretty cool.

Anything for Shah Rukh

When it comes to shooting an important sequence, it seems Shah Rukh Khan trusts no one else but his friend, cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santosh Sivan.

One of SRK’s most loyal friends, Santosh, has earlier worked with him on Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Asoka. So this time, when he got a call from the actor to come to Mumbai immediately and shoot a sequence for Billu, Sanotsh readily set his own work in Chennai aside and rushed to Mumbai.

SRK wanted Santosh to shoot his glamorous entry sequence which requires him to enter on a motorbike with a pounding background score. Though the cinematographer for Billu is V Manikandan, Santosh who never impinges on a colleague’s territory decided to make Billu an exception for friendship’s sake. After all, Billu is all about celebrating friendship.

Says Santosh, “Shah Rukh asked me to do the particular entry sequence, and no one says ‘no’ to him. The last I had shot for Priyadarshan (director of Billu) was nearly a decade ago, for Kalapani (1996), a film that had got me a National award. For Shah Rukh’s scenes where he interacts with his fans on a motorbike we shot at Mukesh Mills for two days.”

Santosh is now planning to direct and shoot a film that SRK will produce and act in.

Shiamak Davar to train Shah Rukh's IPL cheerleaders

Bollywood choreographer Shiamak Davar is all set to tutor Angels - the cheerleaders of superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders.

Davar, the man behind hit dance sequences in films like Dil To Pagal Hai, Taal, Bunty Aur Babli, Dhoom 2 and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, has been zeroed in on as the choreographer for NDTV Imagine's upcoming reality show Knights & Angels, said a source from the channel.

The show, which aims at selecting six cheerleaders for Shah Rukh's team, is being produced by the actor's TV production house Red Chillies Idiot Box.

The programme will be hosted by veejay-turned-actor Purab Kohli and will be telecast every Saturday starting February 28.

Shah Rukh Khan: I am becoming narcissistic!

Four days before his scheduled surgery on his shoulder, Shah Rukh Khan turned up at a Mumbai hotel, in ripped-torn jeans and a black tee, sleeves casually pushed up his arms. A silver grey stole wound its way twice around the actor's neck, wondering whether to make a fashion statement or not.

As producer of Billu, formerly called Billu Barber ('Barber' was erased from the film's title, following protests from a section of the society who found the word offensive), Khan's daily commitments could leave anyone breathless. He presided over four functions one after another on the same day, all to promote his latest film.

Directed by Priyadarshan (Maalamaal Weekly, Hera Pheri), Billu stars Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta who, Khan said, play Billu and Bindiya respectively. He added, "There is a saying that goes, 'East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet'. (In the film) We wanted to ask, 'Can the twain meet?' Possible or not, that is what the film is centered around."

Khan treated the media to a reading of the synopsis of Billu, calling himself an "alien" who enters Billu and Bindiya's life. More from the press conference.

You have said you would like to do an ordinary role in a realistic film. Why didn't you play the lead in Billu?
My director (Priyadarshan) said no one could play the lead in Billu except for Irrfan. He didn't want any other big star, just Irrfan because we all know he is a brilliant actor.

I thought I should fight for the role, but then I just let it be because I get to play a superstar, which I am (laughs).

The word 'barber' had to be removed from the title of your film. Do you think it is fair?
Life is not about being fair or unfair. I make films for people. I want the audience to like them.

I have made films (earlier) which hurt a few senior stars. I have said sorry to them because it (the slight) was not intentional.

With Billu, the barbers' union told me very emotionally that the Hindi translation of the word 'barber' could be misused. I agreed and so we removed the word. Legally, there was no problem keeping it. But we often tease people with the Hindi word. Think about it.

Anyway, if a film is good, call it Ullu or Billu, people will still watch it.

You promote your films aggressively with brand association. How does this help your films?
It is all about give and take. If the film fits into the category of an existing product or one about to be launched, media buyers and media sellers associate that product with the film -- and both are promoted.

For example, Om Shanti Om fit a musical product, while Billu suits earthy products. Hence, plywood.

Aamir Khan recently said you are good at PR, but not at marketing. Do you want to prove him wrong?
I don't take compliments from people very seriously. I know what I have to do when it comes to my job. And I don't need to hear about it from other people.

I want people to go watch my film, so I promote it. Since I am producing this film, it is my responsibility. I don't think I need to explain myself.

People like me. That is why I endorse so many products.

Do you think I have worked hard for 20 years just to make a film to prove to someone that I am also good at marketing?

Aamir is a smart guy. I would like to know more about marketing from him.

Do you think now is the right time to revive your web site, srkworld.com?
I would actually like to because I want a site related to me. That, and I am becoming more narcissistic by the day! There should be me and no one else!

After my surgery is done with, I will get started on this.

What is your take on blogging?
It is a very connective and vast medium where you can share your thoughts. Many stars are into it and it is all very well written.

In my case, the media conveys 90 per cent of my thoughts. What would I write about? I don't want to talk about my films or where I am shooting.

On my site, I will talk about Nature and human beings. I would like to talk to the youth and tell them anything is possible if you work hard.

You took off 'barber' from your film thanks to protests. Would you do the same for your next film, My Name Is Khan, should the public have a problem with the word, Khan?
I am just hoping I don't have to remove the word Billu from this film! Someone could suddenly come and say, "My name is Billu," and I will have to take it off.

I really don't want my film to release without a name. Then it will be just me, Irrfan and Lara posing for a film without a name.

SRK's chemistry with other Khans

This week, Shah Rukh Khan would be seen sharing screen space for the first time with yet another 'Khan'- the talented Irrfan Khan. The film in question is SRK's home production Billu and is directed by well-known filmmaker Priyadarshan.

As SRK pairs up with yet another Khan, we takes a trip down memory lane and sees some of Shah Rukh's on-screen pairing with the other 'Khans of Bollywood'.

With Aamir Khan
Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan coming together in one film is a dream come true for any avid movie-goer. While the two 'Khan-tastic' actors are yet to do a full-fledged film together, they were recently seen playing themselves in interesting cameos in Zoya Akhtar's directorial debut Luck By Chance.

Sadly though, they didn't share any screen space. However, hard-core film buffs would know that Aamir and SRK have shared screen space for a few minutes in the Deepak Tijori starrer Pehla Nasha (1993).

Incidentally, that film was directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar (who has directed both Aamir and SRK in Lagaan and Swades respectively). The sequence in Pehla Nasha showed Aamir, SRK, Saif etc congratulating Deepak (who plays an actor in the film) at a film awards show.

With Saif Ali Khan
Like we mentioned earlier, Saif Ali Khan was also one of the stars doing a cameo alongside Aamir, SRK in Ashutosh Gowarikar's Pehla Nasha. A decade after that, in the year 2003, it was Karan Johar who brought back SRK and Saif Ali Khan in Nikhil Advani directed Kal Ho Naa Ho.

The film became a runaway hit and since then SRK and Saif became quite a hit pair. While the duo didn't do any film together post that (barring Saif's cameo in OSO) they have been quite regular at hosting award shows and even in the world of TV commercials, the latest being the Airtel one.

With Fardeen Khan
Shah Rukh Khan did a cameo in the Fardeen Khan- Akshay Kumar- Ritesh Deshmukh starrer Heyy Babyy but unfortunately King Khan and Fardeen didn't get to share screen space. The duo would however be seen in the 'long in the making' flick Dulha Mil Gaya directed by Mudassar Aziz. The film is expected to release later this year.

With Salman Khan
Before their ugly spat last year at Katina Kaif's birthday party, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan starred in many films together. In fact Salman is the 'Khan' with whom Shah Rukh has done maximum films. The duo first starred in Rakesh Roshan's super hit film Karan Arjun way back in 1995.

Post that, Karan Johar got the duo back together in the blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and they later starred alongside Madhuri Dixit in K.C. Bokadia's Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (2002).

Besides the above mentioned films, SRK did a guest appearance in Salman starrer Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega and Sallu returned the favor by grooving in the title track of SRK's home production Om Shanti Om.

The duo also did cameos in the highly forgettable flick Dushman Duniya Ka. We hope the cold war between the two superstars ends soon so that we get to see them back together setting the screen on fire.

With Zayed Khan
In Farah Khan's highly entertaining Main Hoon Na, Shah Rukh Khan and Zayed Khan came together for the first time.

The duo played brothers and complimented each other quite brilliantly. The film is among the high-points of Zayed's career and even though they haven't starred in a film post that, Zayed didn't let go off the chance to shake a leg with SRK in the title track of Om Shanti Om.

With Arbaaz Khan
Shah Rukh and Salman may not be on talking terms now but SRK is still pretty close to Sallu's brother Arbaaz and his wife Malaika. Barring Arbaaz's cameo in the title track of OSO (which featured almost the entire Bollywood fraternity), the duo are yet to star in a film together.

Attack on Shah Rukh’s home: If he is not safe then who is in Mumbai

Shah Rukh Khan’s house was attacked today. People are asking if he is not safe then who is in Mumbai.

The news of Shah Rukh Khan’s house in one of the best protected localities in Mumbai has awaken people from slumber. Though the attack, apparently, a crude bomb failed to explode in his house Mannat, saving the house and Shah Rukh Khan from any untoward incident, it has baffled a number of Shah Rukh fans and even others.

Raima Supariwala who lives in Bandra not very far away from where Shah Rukh Khan lives says that though they always feel unsafe particularly since the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena goons started targeting north Indians, she is scared about the safety in the neighborhood after this particular incident.

Nasir, a student in Saboo Siddiq College says that he fails to even dream of the consequences had the bomb exploded in Shah Rukh Khan’s house. He says he cannot see even a single scratch on his idol’s body.

Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan’s house Mannat was attacked Friday early morning at around 4:30 am in Mumbai.

Three unidentified assailants threw a homemade bomb at his palatial mansion in Mumbai suburb Bandra.

Mannat - one of the ten best bungalows in Mumbai city is situated in the bustling suburb - Bandra, overlooking the blue Arabian sea. The building is so grand that it comes under the Protected Structure Act.

The bungalow although has been a continuous site for problems in SRK’s life. it started when Shahrukh acquired the place.

A Mumbai NGO Bhrashtachar Nirmoolan Sanghatan, claimed Shahrukh had violated and encroached upon public space , filled a allegation.

The first allegation against the actor is that the boundary wall adjacent to the road had been extended by 3 meters, causing the road width to come down from 9.15 meters to 6.15 meters.

According to the PIL, construction should start a minimum of 1.5 meters away from the boundary wall but the petitioners claim the multistoried building has balconies that extend 1.5 meters outside the wall.

Shah Rukh worried about family after attack on Mannat

Actor Shah Rukh Khan said Friday he was worried for the safety of his wife and two children after his house Mannat was attacked by unknown people who had apparently misinterpreted the lyrics of a song in just-released “Billu” and reacted.
“I got scared. I got worried about my children and wife, but they are fine. I don’t think there is any place safer than my home. I’m in London for a check up. I will be back home the day after tomorrow,” Shah Rukh told a TV channel over phone from London.

Clarifying the confusion about the lyrics, the actor said: “They thought we are referring to the Prophet in the song. But it has been sorted out. They have seen the film and now its clear to them that the lyrics weren’t referring to the Prophet.”

A burning kerosene bottle had been thrown in the premises of his sea facing house Mannat early in the morning.

According to an officer of Bandra Police station, two men came to Shah Rukh’s bungalow, at Bandra Bandstand around 2.30 a.m. They lit a bottle full of kerosene and flung it over the gates before fleeing. The security guards were caught unawares, the police said. The police said a case was registered and they are searching for the culprits.

There was no damage to property as the flaming missile landed in the garden.

Shah Rukh's house in Mumbai attacked

Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan's mansion in Bandra in Mumbai was attacked early on Friday morning at around 4:30 am.

Two to three unidentified miscreants threw a bottle containing an inflammable substance at the Khan's sea-facing house called Mannat.

The bottle was a kind of crude bomb. The miscreants later fled from the spot, however, nobody was reportedly hurt. Police are investigating the incident and an FIR has been lodged.

Shah Rukh loves to talk of life rather than his films

Shah Rukh Khan was recently out on a promotional event for ‘Billu’, and talked at length about the film, and of course – himself. Never once leaving his double-barbed wit, the Bollywood superstar answered well aimed questions with dexterity acquired through years of practice.

Addressing the media and public, the winsome charmer won hearts saying, “I am here because I want you to join me in the party, and have a good time. I am glad you all have turned up. I love spending time with you. Don’t you like spending the whole day with me? I would love to spend the night also with you, but that would be contrary to familial peace.”

When questioned about his presence at the promotional event when the central character of the film happened to be Irrfan Khan, he said, “I am promoting the film because I have a long enough role in the movie. I am a part of the movie.”

The movie has three item songs with top-notch Bollywood actresses shaking their legs opposite King-Khan. When the topic was brought up Shah Rukh faced it clarifying, “Why should a movie be a hit if there are three item songs in it? It does not work that way, we look at the story, the script, not the songs. Agreed that there is one song that looks a bit superfluous, but that was needed to be filmed on Lara.” Not missing a beat, he added, “Call the film whatever you like, ‘Billu’ or ‘Ullu’, but do watch it!”

But the most interesting part came when he hit a well aimed snide at Amitabh Bachchan. Knowing well that Big B freely uses his blog to talk of his films, and even uses pictures of the shootings and locations on his blog, Shah rukh said, “When I am out promoting my film, and interacting with people, I like to talk about life, and not about the film’s songs or sets or locations. I like to talk of life and everyday matters that interest all of us.”

“Shah Rukh, I love you!”

Shah Rukh Khan somehow manages to instantly hit it off with the public. At a press conference in Delhi recently, he had everyone in splits with his witty repartees.

In the middle of a Q&A session, a woman from the crowd shouted, “Shah Rukh, I love you!” While everyone turned around to see where the voice had come from, SRK quickly said, “I love you too, darling. Don’t worry, we will get married as soon as I am done with this press conference. Please wait for me.”

A few minutes later, after the laughter had subsided, when someone asked him about his fetish for wearing black and white for almost all his public appearances, SRK was at it again and said, “You see, I am a black and white person. I like this colour combination. And every time I have to go out, this is the combo that I think of.” Oh! so what happened to the ‘Yellow Yellow, dirty fellow’ line of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi?

King Khan on a promotion spree for Billu…

Using his star power to the fullest king khan went on a promotional spree for his forthcoming release Billu… as he hopped from one promotional event to another all in a days work.

So after interacting with the media at his Bandra residence Shahrukh kept the shutterbugs on the move as they tried to catch up with his pace.

“Why do all these fancy things. You just have to call me. I will do anything to promote my film. The media though must be sick of me. I will be in their nightmares also. I will not leave them till they declare my film a hit,” Shahrukh Khan.

And though the controversy surrounding the title of the film seems to have ended but the King Khan is still apprehensive.

When asked if any of the Khans would get upset with the title of his next film my name is Khan SRK replied.

“I don't know about Khan, but I just hope no Billu… gets upset for the next few days that I have used his name as the title of the film, otherwise my film will be nameless. Just my photograph, and directed by Priyadarshan,” adds Shahrukh.

Amidst all the media frenzy King Khan ensured his fans weren’t disappointed.

“Lots of love to you dadi, please pray for me and I want to dedicate a song for you mar jaani mar jaani,” added Shahrukh.

Come Friday and we hope Billu barber proves to be a gift of love by king Khan to his fans on the valentines weekend.

Shah Rukh, Kajol to dub for Kuchi Kuchi Hota Hai in April

Dharma Productions is on a roll. After churning out Dostana last year, the Karan Johar helmed production house is now gearing up to wrap up its first animation film - Kuchi Kuchi Hota Hai.

The movie is being directed by Tarun Mansukhani and is the animated version of Johar's film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherji.

Mansukhani is now focusing on getting the animated portions done. Speaking exclusively to Businessofcinema.com, he says, "We have more or less a month's work of animation left to be completed before we start on the post production work like dubbing and sound effects. Shah Rukh and Kajol will start dubbing for it from April onwards."

Although this film is an animated version of the original film, Mansukhani said, "We are just keeping the premise and the plot the same. The scenes, the conversations and the scenarios will be different. The music, which was originally scored by Jatin-Lalit, is now being composed by Salim Suleiman. The tunes are the same, but we have changed the lyrics. We have also added three songs to the original soundtrack."

Khan and Kajol recorded a rough voiceover prior to their departure to Los Angeles for the first schedule of Johar's, My Name is Khan. Mansukhani is planning either an August or an October release depending on the suitability of a good date for Kuchi Kuchi Hota Hai. My Name is Khan is also slated to release later this year.

As has already been reported by Business of cinema, some of the other films that are underway at Dharma Productions are Renzil D'Souza's movie starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor and Ayan Mukerji's Wake Up Sid! starring ; Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma.

Shah Rukh to invite barbers, hairstylists for Billu premiere

In a move to appease the Hairdressers' Associations of Mumbai, Shah Rukh Khan is planning to invite various barbers and hairstylists for the premiere of Billu, which was earlier titled Billu Barber.

"As far as I know, Shah Rukh is planning a premiere for the various barbers and hairdressers' associations, so they'd see and know that the film doesn't ridicule them in any way. In fact, the film is a homage to the hair-cutting technique. I can't understand how there can be a protest about the film or its title without anyone seeing the film," Priyadarshan told IANS.

According to Priyadarshan, Shah Rukh is not inviting friends from the industry for the screening.

The film was earlier titled 'Billu Barber', but when Hairdressers' Associations of Mumbai objected to the use of the word "barber" in the title, Shah Rukh, who is producing the film and making a guest appearance, decided to change it.

"I'm in Chennai. Shah Rukh Khan tells me all the posters hoarding with credits will blacken out the word 'barber'. If it was hurting anyone's sentiments, I'm okay by it," Priyadarshan said.

He wonders how the word 'barber' could be okay in other languages and not in Hindi.

"Does it mean half the Indian population is not put off by the title and the other half is upset about it? I don't understand the controversy. And I've left it entirely to Shah Rukh to deal with it."

The director has no plans of being in Mumbai for the release of Billu. "I've done my best. And Irrfan Khan in the title role is the best homage that can be paid to any profession."

Priyan does wonder, and so do we, if we as a collective nation protest too much.

Irrfan Khan plays the title role and is paired with Lara Dutta in the film, which is releasing Friday. Shah Rukh will make a guest appearance along with Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.

Dish TV renews contract with Shah Rukh Khan

Dish TV has extended its endorsement contract with Shah Rukh Khan for another 18 months. Dish TV, which leads the DTH category in the country, had signed up with Shah Rukh Khan in ‘07 to endorse its service.

According to Dish TV officials, the service has a base of 4.85 million subscribers. Rival Tata Sky too uses Aamir Khan extensively in its advertising.

As reported by ET last week, Shah Rukh tops the list of celebrity endorsements on TV according to a new Tam AdEx report.

The economic slowdown seems to have had a positive rub-off on the DTH industry, as people have started restricting their entertainment bills and going out less. In the July-September ‘08 period, the DTH industry was adding six lakh subscribers per month, but the base jumped to one million in the October-December period.

SRK's next is a super-hero film

The excruciating pain on his shoulder notwithstanding, Shah Rukh Khan is going all out to promote his new film Billu (the word 'barber' has been removed from all posters/billboards) Tell him that he's the best marketing brain in the industry thanks to the kind of promotion he did for Om Shanti Om, he says, "Not Om Shanti Om, but Yes Boss was the film that started it all."

Although Billu is an SRK production, with Irrfan Khan enacting the title role, SRK hasn't forced himself in the story. On the contrary, he has removed two of his scenes from the film.

Not many are aware that Priyadarshan had offered SRK two choices - a film on heist and the other, a story on friends.

"I chose the second." And the actor is extremely happy with the way Billu has shaped up.

"We had a screening recently for family and friends. I wasn't expecting people to get emotional, but a lot of people did. The last 20 minutes did make me moist-eyed as well. I think the film will connect with the audiences," Shah Rukh reveals.

Financially too, SRK will make a neat profit on the film. Reportedly, he has sold the film for a fantastic price (Rs. 50 cr.) to Eros.

"The rumours just don't stop. Sometime back I was told I was charging Rs. 100 crores for a film. I've never over-charged any of my producers. Now this one! The truth is, we've spent quite a bit on the making of the film. Coming to the point, the price is not Rs. 50 cr, but Rs. 35 cr," the actor says.

Next on the cards is a film with Anubhav Sinha.

"It's a super-hero film. I want it to be the best super-hero film made in India. We're hiring technicians from abroad. I'm really looking forward to this one," he adds.

SRK shoots on the lawns of the White House

Karan Johar wanted to shoot some scenes for My Name is Khan in the White House in Washington DC, USA. Now it is confirmed that the director shot for a sequence on the lawns of the White House with former President George W Bush’s lookalike.

A source says, “Getting permission to shot even on the lawns of The White House was a big deal. Usually, production houses have to go though a long procedure. It was a big win for Dharma Productions to get the space to shoot. This makes My Name is Khan the first Hindi film to be shot on the White House grounds.”

The film is set in 2001 right after the 9/11 attack, hence the sequence required Shah Rukh to interact with Bush (the then President of the United States). There are several lookalikes of Bush used, in numerous Hollywood movies. Karan chose the actor who looked the closest to ex-president.

The unit of My Name is Khan will leave for USA once again in July to finish the film. It is said that the film will be shot in San Francisco then.

Shah Rukh Khan to undergo surgery on 16 February

It is time for Shah Rukh Khan to go under the surgeon's scalpel yet again. SRK will be operated upon on 16 February. Although the actor is in tremendous pain, he will honour his commitment to attend the Zee Carnival in London.

Khan will be leaving for London on 12 February for the three day star-fan interaction at the annual Zee Carnival. He will be accompanied by his Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi co-star Anushka Sharma.

A source informs Businessofcinema.com, "Shah Rukh is in great pain and the travel will not be easy for him. But he will be going for the event as he had committed to the organizers. Post his return, SRK will head straight for Breach Candy Hospital for his operation."

SRK hurt the tendon of his left shoulder when he tripped while doing a scene where he had to run., for Vivek Vaswani's Dulha Mil Gaya. The torn tendon got worse in the Los Angeles winter, when he shot for Karan Johar's My Name is Khan. SRK has been advised bed rest for two weeks post his surgery.

Shahrukh Khan to return as Don

The sequel to Farhan Akhtar’s Don is very much on with Shahrukh Khan in the role of the elusive don again.

For a long time Farhan and his partner Ritesh Sidhwani have been dilly-dallying with the idea of making a sequel to their 2006 movie which, though not a superhit, had a good run at the box office.

A part of the producer duo’s ambivalence was due to the fact that Amitabh Bachchan , the original don, was set to act in the sequel of Don (1978) to be produced by the sons of the producer of the 70s movie. But since that project doesn’t seem to be happening, Farhan and Ritesh’s company Excel Entertainment has decided to go ahead with the sequel to their film.

Unlike the 1978 original, in Farhan’s movie it is Vijay who dies but the don remains alive and even slips through the fingers of the cops at the end. In the sequel, the story will be carried forward with the same characters.

Excel Entertainment will reportedly sign SRK, Priyanka Chopra , Arjun Rampal and Boman Irani for the sequel. It’s still unclear whether Isha Koppikar , the don’s moll, will act in ‘Don 2’.

The movie is likely to go on floors in January next year. Presently, SRK is busy with the promotion of his home production Billu Barber . After the film’s release he will undergo a surgery on his shoulder. In April he gets busy with the new IPL season of his Kolkata Knight Riders. And after that he will shoot another schedule of Karan Johar’s film My Name Is Khan.

Shah Rukh wants to name his dog Aamir, Gauri objects!

Just when we thought the Khan war had mellowed, Shah Rukh comes out with yet another scandalous statement saying that he wants to name his dog Aamir!

Shah Rukh seems to be highly offended by Aamir’s press conferences and mockeries targeting him. Shah Rukh in a press conference post the release of his ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ had claimed that he is number one and Aamir in a media event self-claimed himself as number one- mocking Shah Rukh.

On being asked about the incident in an interview to a news daily, a seething SRK said, “I will confront Aamir and ask him why he said such a thing. I accept a lot of things, but I think this is not funny. When I say I am number one, I definitely don`t mean it in arrogance. I say it with a sense of humour and a sense of humility. But I guess it will take a lot for Aamir to understand that.”

Now, let’s recall some more events of the past - in the very famous Blog controversy, Aamir declared that he had named his dog Shah Rukh. Taking a dig at Aamir for the second time the actor said, “Gauri (Shah Rukh’s wife) gets upset when I crack jokes about naming my dog Aamir. She thinks why should I bring myself down by doing or saying such things? I respect her viewpoint and I understand that she doesn`t want me to lose my dignity, but sometimes I think it is absolutely necessary as people ask for it.”

The negative vibes between the two actors had become far more obvious for a long time now. Aamir and Salman’s much-publicised amity is also an added flavour to the story. Salman promotes Aamir and Aamir sings praises of Salman.

Doesn’t look like the Khan war is doing Shah Rukh any good.

Well, Bollywood’s no more the peaceful land it once was.

King Khan On B4U Star Stop

King Khan, Bollwood Badshah, are just a couple of names attached to this enigmatic, livewire actor by the Bollywood fraternity and fans alike. Romantic with a dimpled smile which can sway a million hearts ShahRukh Khan is the God of Indian film Industry.
A man who makes a thousand hearts flutter, sets the box office registers ringing with his super hit films, in essence is a very down to earth, real human being who has kept success tamed and not let it rule his head.

B4U VJ Salil speaks to this Bollywood sensation in B4U Starstop, a programme on B4u Music on all topics ranging from his health, to his family and about his forthcoming film Billu.

B4U STAR STOP is a programme with Film related interviews. Actors/directors talk about their forthcoming movie, their likes, dislikes and other things and chat with B4U VJS. Stars talk about their personal review of the film and share their anecdotes of their experiences during the making of the film.

Shahrukh Khan prefers creativity, to all other financial aspects of a film although he is an astute and sharp businessman.

His reaction to pot-shots toward him is very unique; he says he prefers the pot-shots rather than not being recognized at all, and also says it was the life he chose so he takes that in his stride although it does get irksome at times, indeed a very mild reaction for a man of his stature!

A keen eye for creativity and courage to do starkly different roles makes him a very versatile actor and he has done full justice to each role with panache and élan.

His forthcoming film Billu is yet another attempt at trying a film where two different worlds are brought on celluloid and merged in such an articulate fashion that it brings a new dimension to cinema.
Billu according to him represents a film about simple people and their relationships and happiness they derive from their lives

Despite representing the affluent class, he is blatantly truthful about the higher class of people and their perpetual dissatisfaction with life, a very rare trait seen in an artist of his calibre.

SRK slams Slumdog critics

Shahrukh Khan feels there’s no reason for people to become cynical if a film made on Indian uniqueness has made a mark in the world.

It will open doors for people to understand that there is a lot of visual appeal to India. I hear a lot of people saying that India has been shown in bad light in Slumdog Millionaire. But then my logic to everyone is that why is it that somebody comes from outside and makes a film like Gandhi and Slumdog. All we can say about it is that it is showing India in a poor light,” said Khan.

Many critics including Amitabh Bachchan had said that that the film’s a hard-hitting but exuberant tale of life in a Mumbai slum and is being lauded because it has a Westerner at the helm. SRK also took the opportunity to slam the self-styled “moral policing” elements who object to Valentine’s Day. “We should see Valentine’s as a day of friendship and love and not as a western culture attack. I would say all youngsters should give roses to all the people they love in a good way,” said Khan.

Title of SRK's Billu Barber changed

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will undergo a shoulder surgery soon, but it is not slated for Valentine's Day.

"It is certainly not happening on Feb 14 because Shah Rukh will be in London on that day. The surgery would take place on a later date though that too is not yet fixed," says a source close to the actor.

Though Shah Rukh was advised to undergo the surgery some time ago, it has been postponed a few times already.

His shoulder was injured a long time ago but the condition aggravated on the sets of "Dulha Mil Gaya" in December.

He was suggested rest then, but he couldn't afford to do so since the Viveck Vaswani production had been delayed for about a year and Shah Rukh didn't want any more pain for his producer, sources said.

His condition was kept under control with physiotherapy sessions easing his pain for the time being. Later, he left for Los Angeles because of his prior commitment for Karan Johar's "My Name is Khan".

Adds the source: "For Shah Rukh, the last few months have been quite busy professionally. There was 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' promotion as well as the shoot of 'Dulha Mil Gaya'. Then he couldn't have backed out of 'My Name is Khan', which had anyways been pushed ahead by a few months."

"Moreover, he had to return to India for the publicity of 'Billu Barber', now titled just 'Billu'. Though doctors had suggested a surgery on an ASAP note, he didn't want 'Billu Barber' to suffer. So, even with a sling on, he went through the entire promotional campaign. It was painful but he is passionate about his films and kept smiling."

Since he didn't want to get under the knife before the release of 'Billu' on Feb 13, speculation was that the surgery would be immediately after the release, that is, on Valentine's Day.

However, Shah Rukh told a press conference: "The surgery is not happening on Valentine's Day. I would be in London then and the surgery would now be on a later date."

Apparently, he continues to be in some pain since he tore his tendons. He is able to move around with great difficulty but is trying to keep a brave face, especially since he is going all out for the promotion of "Billu".

The actor has earlier been operated upon for his back and his knees.

Meanwhile, the superstar has agreed to the request of some members of the profession who felt that the use of the word 'barber' was offensive to their community. Hence the film title has been changed.

"What's the harm in doing so when the community, on which the film is based, itself wants this change?" says Shah Rukh.

"I want it to be a happy situation for all and if a minor change to the title has to be made, then I don't see anything wrong in that."

Hairdressers have a problem with Billu Barber

The Salons and Beauty Parlours Association, which has 27000 members in Mumbai itself, has protested against the title of the film “Billu Barber”. They apparently want the title of the film to be changed to “Billu Hairdresser” as they feel the word 'barber' is derogatory.

Shah Rukh Khan meanwhile has tied up with over 400 beauty parlours across Mumbai and has sent them vinyl posters of the film and CDs as part of the promotional campaign.

However, the president of the association has said the word barber is a very insulting term as nowadays hairdressing is an art. He feels an art must be respected be it in any sector. He also said there are many women hairdressers, and imagine them being called barbers.

A special screening of the film has been promised for them and if there's anything objectionable in the film, the association can get it changed. But if it is not changed, the association has threatened to take to the streets to protest against the film.

SRK was shocked at the remarks and said the film is about love, friendship and relationships. He also said it is a very sweet and touching film and does not disrespect anyone.

Produced by SRK's wife Gauri, “Billu Barber” stars Shah Rukh, Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta and is releasing on February 13, 2009.

Exclusive: SRK checks into Nanavati Hospital

At midnight Shah Rukh Khan made a quiet entry into Nanavati Hospital. The actor was ushered in through the backdoor away from the prying eyes of the public. Cardiologist Dr. R.G Bhagwat ushered the superstar into the hospital.

A source from the hospital says, “The actor will not be going under the knife immediately. He is undergoing preliminary tests at the moment which are essential for anyone before surgery.”

Shah Rukh Khan will undergo surgery on his right shoulder later this week as he has a tear in his supraspintus ligament, which restricts his hand movements.

The actor was supposed to go under the knife only after the release of his film Billu. Speaking in Delhi earlier this week he had said that he would get himself admitted in a couple of days. With Billu set for release today (Friday, February 11), it would make sense for the actor to now get himself treated.

Following his operation King Khan will have to stay in hospital for three to four days and will have to stay away from any stunts or big movements for close to a month. He will have to give a minimum of three weeks of rest to the affected shoulder after which he will have to undergo atleast six weeks of intensive physiotherapy.

Shah Rukh injured his left shoulder while performing an action sequence duringt the shoot of Dulha Mil Gaya. He was recently in the US for a 45 day shoot of Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan. But with his shoulder injury re-surfacing, Khan took the decision to come back home for surgery.

SRK postpones surgery for Billu Barber

Shah Rukh Khan has decided to postpone his shoulder surgery till the release of Billu Barber. The actor who had flown back to India mid way of his filming schedule for My Name is Khan in Los Angeles to treat his aggravated shoulder, will now only go under the knife once his film releases.

“Shah Rukh wanted to go all out to promote his film Billu Barber. The film has him in a small role but it is a Red Chillies production at the end of the day. So SRK made sure he had enough time to promote his film. Also with Irrfan being busy for the Oscars, SRK has taken it upon to ensure that his film is promoted well,” informs a source close to the actor.

When contacted, SRK’s spokesperson said, “He will go for surgery after the film releases. But the date has not been finalized.”

Speaking about his upcoming surgery at a promotional do for Tag Heuer in Delhi recently, Khan said that he would be going for surgery after wrapping up some commitments.

“My treatment has been delayed because of a few important commitments, one being the TAG Heuer event today, and another is ‘Billu Barber’. Once I’m done with my commitments to the film, I’ll get myself admitted to a hospital for the surgery,” said the actor at the event.

Khan said while he was managing, life was a bit restricted. “I can’t hug as hard as I could. But Vijender (Singh who was also at the event) has promised to train me once I come out of surgery and make me fit again,” signed off Khan with a smile.

SRK’s Billu Barber that also stars Irrfan Pathan and Lara Dutta will release on February 13th.

Shah Rukh at his witty best

The two Bollywood superstars have taken digs at each other, and even apologised to each other. Shah Rukh Khan on Wednesday (Feb 4) laughed off the so-called spat with Aamir Khan as a joke but added that his rival at times did say things to his dislike.

“I don't pick on Aamir. You guys (the media) make a big thing out of it. It's a joke, so we carry on with it. It's no big deal,” he said Shah Rukh.
Dressed in a crisp white shirt and a chic black suit with neatly cropped hair, the 43-year-old actor spread cheer among the 200-plus crowd, including many kids, at the Emporio Mall in New Delhi he came as a brand ambassador for Swiss watch brand Tag Heuer.

King Khan, as he is fondly called, cleared all rumours about the 'cold war' between the two Khans of the Hindi film industry, but said he would have a talk with the “Ghajini” star.

“Sometimes he (Aamir) says something or somebody else says something that I don't like and I am very serious about it. So I'll personally talk to him about it,” said Shah Rukh.

Apart from their movies, the two superstars have been hogging the limelight for their public remarks on each other.

Aamir, who was in the capital recently to promote his psychological thriller “Ghajini”, had cleared the air about the war of words by saying that he could never fight with Shah Rukh.

"Do you think I could dare to fight with Shah Rukh. He is a good friend and so I can't fight with him. I respect him a lot," Aamir had said.

But it didn't end at this. Shah Rukh sparked a controversy by proclaiming himself as the biggest brand and saying there cannot be any competition with him.

Taking a dig at the remark, Aamir said: "I don't believe in competition with others. I only compete with myself."

Aamir, whose forthcoming project is titled “Three Idiots”, also said that title should be rightfully given to the three Khans of Bollywood - including himself, Shah Rukh and Salman.

“My forthcoming film... is Rajkumar Hirani's 'Three Idiots' and I play the character of an idiot with R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi. But I think Shah Rukh, Salman and I are truly the three idiots of Bollywood,” he said.

At the Tag Heuer press conference, Shah Rukh also ruled out the option of joining politics ...at least until he turns 127 years old.
"I might join politics at the age of 127 - when probably you guys are old and I am still young," he said.

Shah Rukh, who is nursing a shoulder injury, was at his jocular best when he took digs at journalists and gave witty answers.

Asked about his shoulder problem, Shah Rukh told a reporter: "I just can't hug you hard enough."

"I will be well. I'm going for surgery in the next few days. I was just hoping to delay it because of a few close commitments like this event and also for promoting my film 'Billu Barber'. As soon as that is released, I will enroll myself into a hospital and get my injury repaired."

Shah Rukh said he is upset about his injury as he cannot move as much as he would otherwise like to. He is also sad that he cannot exert his body much and, therefore, has to refrain from his daily dose of exercise too.

"I am feeling a little sad because for the next six months I won't be able to play football or do any exercise. I used to lift weights but with this injury I can't do anything of that sort," he said.

Despite the injury, Shah Rukh did not let his pain show through. He made a top official of the watch brand sing "Mar jaani, mar jaani" - a peppy Hindi number from "Billu Barber".

Returning compliments, flattering girls, accepting flowers, signing autographs and praising his wife Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan was also at his romantic best at the press conference.
“I have gifted my entire life to Gauri,” Shah Rukh told reporters when asked whether his forthcoming film “Billu Barber”, releasing on Feb 13, was a Valentine's Day gift for his wife.

“She produces all my movies and only if the film does well, she accepts any gifts. If my movie flops, then she does not accept any gift. I feel 'Billu Barber' is a beautiful film about relationships, love and friendship. I also have a good part in the film along with Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta. If the film works well, my wife will accept a gift otherwise she will throw me out of the house,” he quipped.

The actor said he has not made any Valentine's Day plans yet due to his medical condition.

“I want to get done with this surgery so I don't think it is a good time to plan for Valentine's Day. Right now, I am very much concerned about my arm,” he maintained.

The crowd went berserk from the moment he entered the lobby of the swish Emporio Mall.

A young die-hard fan of the actor couldn't shy away from shouting “Shah Rukh, we love you” in the middle of the press conference and the actor was quick enough to respond.

He said: “I love you too sweetie. Let's get married soon after this. Whenever I come to Delhi, I keep getting married - it's a thing with me. I like Delhi girls a lot but girl, my daughter would be as old you after a few years.”

To another young journalist, who intended to ask Shah Rukh's opinion on Shilpa Shetty's entry into the Indian Premier League (IPL) that was announced on Monday, the superstar quipped that she resembled Shilpa's younger sister Shamita and that he would love to do a “Baazigar 2” with her.

Shah Rukh obliged nearly every young child present there by shaking hands with them besides signing autographs and also accepting little tokens of love like roses and pens from them.

I'd like to get my surgery done on V-day: SRK

Shah Rukh Khan has grand plans for Valentine’s Day, but not with wife Gauri. On a recent visit to Delhi, the actor said that it might be the perfect day to have his long delayed shoulder surgery.

I usually don’t do anything on Valentine’s Day, so I’d like to get my surgery done then. It’s just that there’s so much work – I can’t afford to be lying flat on a hospital bed for a month. I do need this surgery, but once my movie Billu Barber is placed well, I’ll have more time,” he explains.

It’s not only movies that are keeping SRK from getting that surgery done. There’s also IPL. “There’s some planning to be done. In fact, I had a meeting regarding that two days ago in Delhi. But I don’t think that recession is going to affect IPL. I don’t even think recession is the word for the situation India is in. I would call it a time for ‘correction of figures’.” A correction in the figure that he charges, too? “I don’t think I’ll have to make much modification. I’ve never overcharged or undercharged. In both the film industry and the IPL, I don’t think we should jump to conclusions,” Shah Rukh says. And what about Shilpa Shetty entering the IPL fray? “All the best to her. I’m sure she took this decision after great consideration. I’d like all the teams to win, but I’ll be backing my own, of course!” he smiles.

Of course, no session with SRK is complete without the man’s display of wit. To a female photographer, he said, “For you, darling, I can remove my jacket and even my shirt! However, I don’t have anything written across my chest.” Was that a dig at ‘good friend’ Aamir Khan? “I’m not taking a dig at him or anyone else. It was just a joke. He does it too. There are certain things that others say in public, though, and I don’t like it. So I guess I’ll meet him soon and have a talk with him,” he says.

What he has done, however, is make it to many star lists – the sexiest, the hottest, the most popular ... His take on the lists is, “I don’t understand these lists. I am on so many of them. Who makes these lists? I am the list!” And is he playing Mogambo in the new Mr India? “Mogambo, me? Come on, I’m a handsome young guy,” he laughs.

SRK impressed with Prassanna

After 15 years of hard work, perseverance and focus, Prassanna Sujit is finally getting his rewards.

Not many know who this guy is. But soon that scenario is to change.

The dance moves of the song 'Mar Jaani' of the forthcoming flick 'Biloo Barber' featuring SRK and Kareena has become a rage and accolades have started to fly in for the dance maker Prassanna.

Because of the immense popularity of this song it can be presumed that Prassanna is now almost near to his target of being one among the top choreographers of B-Town.

When Shah Rukh first came to know that it was Prassanna who is going to teach him the dance steps of 'Mar Jaani', he got a little bit apprehensive.

SRK doubted Prassanna's potential because he had never worked with him before.

he star even asked director Priyadarshan if Farah Khan can do the job.

But how could Priyadarshan make up his mind to change Prassana when the lad had impressed him so much with his work in 'Bhool Bhulaiya' and 'Bhagam Bhag'.

Shah Rukh got relieved when he came to know that it was Prassana who had choreographed the hit song 'Signal' from 'Bhagam Bhag'.

On the first day of the shoot of "Mar Jaani", Shahrukh's doubts dissolved.

The fantastic signature dance step created by Prassanna was enough to make a great impression in the hero's mind.

When considering that Prassana made his debut in Bollywood only two years back, working with a top director like Priyadarshan is a great achievement.

He has also worked for the director in 'Garam Masala' and 'Mere Baap Phele Aap'.

Starting out as an independent choreographer in 2000, Prasanna has till now worked for 300 films which includes projects in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.

More of his talent will be on display after Ketan Mehta's 'Rang Rasaiya' and Priyadarshan's 'De Dhana Dhan' hit the big screens.
